Chapter 2

Chapter Two
The Captain

I have to figure out how this stupid dress is going  to look flattering on me, Hange was supposed to come over but she's late. It was already really dark and I was beginning to feel sleepy but I needed to finish it. It was 3 days left until the ball and I wanted to enjoy it.

I made the dress with Mikasa and Hange over the past few days and thankfully they helped speed up the process. Mikasa already went back to her room and I was just trying on the dress to see how it looked on me. It was really strange seeing it on me since I've never worn anything like this. I guess it looked okay, I wanted Hange to add details onto the dress because she liked doing it and she did it in a fast pace.

I heard a knock on my door causing me to sigh in relief, she was finally here!

I opened the door and saw Hange walking in quickly with her own supplies, she looked eager to get started and I don't blame her since we also had to work on her dress and it was also almost done.

"I was talking with Levi earlier and dude when I tell you how red he got when I mentioned the ball! It wasn't the ball itself but rather him finding a women to get himself married to! It was so funny seeing him like that I've never seen that man even make any other facial expression that isn't a frown." Hange laughed and she set her things down and turned to me. "Anyways, Levi is going to the ball to look after the people and make sure that everything is running smoothly. I had to convince him to even attend but I really wanted to see him at least get on the dance floor, I mean that guy has been working his butt off for a long time I would like him to get some fun other than drinking away his sorrows."

"Hange, focus on the dress." I sighed and began to add the small details to my dress with Hange finally lending a hand.

"What? I am! Erwin will also be attending but he's going to also be looking after us." Hange hummed. "I don't get it, wouldn't these men want to jump at the chance of starting a family? They work really hard and would rather look after us having fun then find a someone to start a family with at the ball? I mean I am going because I want to have fun but eventually I'd want to find someone."

"Hange, I get it but I don't think men even care enough to start a family especially the ones who are fighting with us. When you really think about it, we go to war almost all the time to make sure society is safe and what if we start a family and get shipped out to die? I wouldn't want to cause that pain on my family and losing someone already is too harsh." I replied.

"That's true but then your legacy just dies? Just like that? I would want someone to carry on after me and make me proud." Hange smiled softly before turning to me with a smirk. "I finished your dress! Let's work on mines!"

I chuckled as we moved onto her dress and began to fix all the unwanted fabric, I remember when my mom taught me the basics of making a dress. I decided to share my knowledge with the people I trusted because this skill was something precious my mom gave me. I miss her so much.

"I've.. never met this Captain Levi... Is he mean? He sounds rude." I decided to dig more into what Hange was telling me earlier, I never understood why she always mentioned him.

"Levi? Well, he's a bit cold... He's really cold to those he doesn't care about, if he doesn't know you then don't expect him to be all nice and civil with you. He does care a lot about those around him but he's lost too many people to be crying and worrying about the same people all the time. I understand it gets tiring and we all cope differently but he's a great leader and a great fighter. He may be short but he's fast and he's widely respected by many comrades." She said calmly. "I hope he ends up with someone who appreciates him and can help him express his emotions better. I wish he would show more emotion but he's been in this job for a long time so I wouldn't expect him to."

"I wouldn't want to catch him on a bad day then." I chuckled as I sew the thread through the dress.

"He's scary on a bad day, I wouldn't talk to him but I bet someone can tame him." Hange snorted. "There's gotta be someone."

"And I pray for whoever that might be because I'm sure it won't be easy." I laughed along with Hange.

But why would it take for someone to change him? There's nothing that needs changing if he's not hurting anyone, if anything he would need someone to amplify the way he feels and probably just listen to him.

But what do I know? I never met the guy, I hope to keep it that way.
