Pen Without Paper

I think he did a chapter between this one and the last. Think he's on to us?

Nah. My guess, he was writing something. Maybe a song, who knows?

Yeah, seems likely enough.

Edgar opens the door, his arm still bleeding, his eyes intense with impatience and annoyance, but also weary, from stress and injury. He glares at me with... nothing. He just stares.

I'm working here. What do you want?

I clench my fist. What happens next, is all part of the plan.

I knock Edgar out in one punch, he's caught completely off guard, making landing the blow easy. He goes down.

Well, that was easy. Really thought he'd put up a fight.

Yeah, so did I, but looks like trying to be strong made him weak. You go and steal his paper, all of it, and I'll take him to the medbay.

Got it.

I enter the studio. Oh pen, there's a lot of paper. Stacks apon stacks apon stacks line each wall. I conjure up some vines and use them to move the paper out of the castle and put it all neatly in stacks outside. Afterwards, I wrap the vines around the paper, to keep Edgar from getting it.

I set Edgar in the medbay. Right back here, huh? It always come back here. Gotta wonder what he's thinking, what he's gonna do when he wakes up. Ah well, it'll be alright.

I push Edgar's hair off his face. His hair isn't horribly long, just long enough to fall over his eyes in the right position. It's cute. If he would just act like a character, I may actually ask him out, but he refuses to be a character. Why? I mean, I'm literally the concept of writing manifested, and I've already strayed from that except in my abilities which are mostly the same as his. Why won't he be a character? I just don't get it...

Publication.

Who said that?

It's me Edgar. It's you.

A demonic version of myself appears before me.

The time has come to embrace your true form...
