Chapter 4: Reunion

The world was divided into two. The right being white that meant all good, and the left being black which meant everything evil.

It was a flat land filled with remnants of some structure that is now in ruins. On the dark side, trees are dead. On the other hand, trees in the white side are alive and rich with white leaves.

A girl looked on the ground just below her. Her right leg is white while the other is black. Raising her hands, it was in the same condition.

Utterly confused, she walks over to a lake that was also divided into two. Popping her head over the water, she saw her reflection.

Her complete right side is white and her right eye was black. The left side was a complete black and her left eye was white.

What is the meaning of this?

Staring at her reflection, she couldn't help but wonder.

It all came to an end when something covered her eyes. A white hand on the left eye, a black hand on the right eye.

"Choose me."

It was two voices at synchronization.

The redhead's eyes shot wide open and sees herself in her room within the Order. Her heart was beating at an abnormal rate that matches her heavy breathing. As sweat trickle down her face, she wipes them off.

Looking outside the window, it was still night. Groaning, she decided to have a midnight snack to forget the dream. Grabbing her sword from the side of the bed, she attaches it to her waist.

Two years had passed since she officially worked for the Order, a year since the incident happened.

Passing by the Surveillance Room, she sees that the door was slightly ajar. Curiosity kicks in quickly and the girl peeks to see a bunch of people watching a screen. From their uniforms of a white lab coat, it was obviously the Science Department.

Since Iris and the people from that department are good friends and she would do anything she like with them, the redhead enters the room like it was nothing. Walking normally, she made sure that she made no sounds of footsteps. Breezing in like the air, she had a mischievous smile on her face.

"Yah!" She yells and surprises everyone in the room. Some scientists drop to the floor on their knees, others jumped from being startled, there were people who screamed, and the rest started to run in all different locations.

"Guys, chill. It's just me." Iris grinned like a kid, humming happily from their reactions.

"Iris! Don't do that!" Reever scolds and the redhead simply dismissed him.

Iris laughs even more from remembering their scared faces.

"Section Leader Reever, yo! What are you guys up to? Something happening within the Order?" The redhead goes closer to the screen to see three people by the entrance inside the Order.

One was obviously Kanda from his hair length and hair color, and simply his clothes. The other companion was obviously Lenalee from the same reasons as Kanda. Looking at the person they're with, he had an odd snow white hair and grey/silver eyes. On the left side of his face is a red scar with a pentacle.

It was no doubt someone she knew from a long time ago. The last time she saw him was from two years ago.

When Kanda refuses to shake hands with the newcomer, he left. And so, Lenalee and the new guy started to have a tour around the Order.

Without uttering a word, the redhead runs outside the room like there was no tomorrow and tries to meet up with them. Going to the entrance, to her disappointment, she didn't manage to meet up with them. Guessing the next location they would go next, the two wasn't to be seen anywhere.

Passing by two guards, she asked if they saw Lenalee and the new guy. The two guards told Iris that that the two went to Komui's examination room. Not wanting to miss any action, she started running like her life depended on it.

Stopping at the door to enter the room, she wasn't even out of breath. She opens it abruptly, startling everyone. Seeing his white hair, Iris immediately jumps onto him and hugged his neck.

"Aaaallen!" She screams in joy, missing the young lad, her first friend.

Komui and Lenalee stared at them with looks of disbelief, especially Komui who had his mouth wipe open. The silverette on the other hand was happy to see a familiar face.

"Iris! It's been a long time!" He says as Iris lets go of him and smiles.

"Look at you now, you're basically centimeters taller than me!" The redhead sways her hand above their heads to show her point. "I guess you're not a shortie anymore."

"You've also changed." Allen says as he looks at her for a moment. A long silence had gone by and he hasn't said a word.

"Nothing changed."

"How dare you! Let me chop off your arm right now!" Iris threatened as she unsheathes her sword slightly with a glint in her eye.

"I really can't spot a difference!" Allen cries.

"You two know each other?" Komui interrupts their conversation, confused of what's happening.

"Of course, since he's a pupil of Marshall Cross, my father." The redhead replied, putting back her sword.

"How come we don't know any of this?" Komui was furious, but he's obviously still silly like always.

"None of you asked, so why bother?" Iris lied. Cross told her not tell the Order or anyone about Allen until he becomes an Exorcist.

When everyone calmed down, Iris joins Lenalee as they watch Komui take care of Allen. The redhead had a huge grin plastered on her face, excited to see Allen in pain. Lenalee laughs nervously beside her.

"When Kanda hit you earlier, he damaged your weapon, right?" Komui talks to Allen as he looks for something in one of the cabinets. "You don't have to worry about it."

Iris looked at Allen's left hand and sees that it was damaged. Hearing what Komui said, she had came up with a thought that Kanda and Allen fought. For what reasons, she doesn't know, although she started to have some theories.

The newcomer shows his left arm which was colored red thanks to the Innocence. It was obviously injured.

"Looks like there's been some nerve damage. Lenalee, bring the anesthetic." Komui orders Lenalee.

"Yes." The girl does as he says.

"Head Chief, no need. Allen can surely handle it." Iris joked.

"Okay then. Lenalee, nevermind what I said." Komui drinks coffee from his cup, going along with the flow.

"No, don't! I really need it!" Allen yells.

Allen activates his arm and it turns to a huge metallic-like claw. Around his left shoulder, a flame of green and white is seen being released. When activated, the slashes from the fight with Kanda was seen much clearer and better. Lenalee had the anesthetic ready, holding it in one hand.

Komui then explains that his Innocence is that of a Parasitic type, meaning that Allen can use his body as a platform for his weapon. Iris remembers that Allen doesn't know a single thing about Innocence, Exorcists, and other things. For some reason, Cross won't tell him anything at all while he had told Iris everything she needed to know at an age of eight.

"Iris and Lenalee's Innocence are Equip types." Komui added.

Allen looked at Iris' sword. It looked the same after two years. Nothing really changed.

"Iris, did you know all of these?" Allen asks.

The redhead had sweat falling from her head. "Not at first." She lies.

"She knew everything from the get go." Komui didn't side with her this time.

Komui! You carefree and laid-back sister complex Head Chief! Iris was glaring at him.

All of a sudden, Komui wears a construction helmet and had a huge drill on one hand. He had a smile on his face that was definitely looking forward for the next part. He and Iris had the same exact smile.

"What's with all that stuff?" Allen asks, starting to doubt his safety.

"For repairing your arm. It's a little shocking, so if you want to avoid a pretty traumatic view, look away." Komui grins as the drill charges up.

"W-Wait!"

"Go!"

"Put it at maximum power! Hahaha! It must be hard to have a parasitic weapon, right Allen?"

On the room beside it, Reever and Tapp were pitying the new boy. They know how crazy the director is.

"Sorry, my brother's a little tough." Lenalee says with a concerned look.

"S-So Komui's your brother?" Allen had a pale face and he looked like he's seen hell.

Iris was beside him, laughing loudly like it was nobody's business.

"You're going there after this, right?" Lenalee turns to her brother. "Think you should confirm wether or not Allen is indeed human?"

"No, it's fine, he's human."

"How do you know?"

"Humans are the only beings on this Earth who can be cursed."

Hmp, I wonder about that. Iris was not convinced from his words. But she is a hundred percent sure Allen is human, aside from the curse Mana inflicted upon him. That made him somewhat unique.

Komui finishes repairing Allen's arm and the boy was relieved it's done. He takes note not to damage it again, which is impossible. After a few minutes of resting, Allen and Komui would be going to Hevlaska's chamber.

"Welcome to the Order." Iris snickers at his poor state. He looked so worn out and his hair was sticking out in all different directions.

The time comes and Allen follows Komui to the elevator that would bring them to the chamber, leaving Lenalee and Iris. The older Exorcist dismisses herself and goes to her room, done with work. It's in the middle of the night, so it was only natural to feel tired and sleepy.

Iris stayed behind, wide awake because she just slept a while ago. Being the curious and mischievous girl that she is, the redhead decides to take the stairs to eavesdrop on Allen's synchronization rate and prophecy. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to make it in time for the synchronization rate and barely made it in time for the prophecy.

"Allen Walker, in a dark future far from now, your Innocence will give birth to a great destroyer of time." Hevlaska prophesied.

Iris' hand twitched from her prophecy of Allen. Destroyer of time? Did she mean it literally or was symbolism used?

Hearing what she needed hear, Iris left right away so none of the Grand Marshals will notice her presence. Allen's prophecy was stuck in her head, and it would be stuck for a long time especially with her extreme curiosity.

She met up with Allen along the floor full of rooms for Exorcists and Finders. There, they only talked about trivial things and Iris decided to leave Allen alone for him to rest from this tiring day.

The silverette enters his room first while the redhead stayed outside for a while, wanting to think for a little bit more. Right before she enters her room, a golden creature flew over her and entered first. It was Timcanpy.

Iris closes the door and hugs Timcanpy tightly, rubbing her face against it. "Timcanpy! I miss you little buddy! Why are you so small? What happened? Are you Timcanpy's child?"

The little golem escapes from her hands and sits on her bed. All of a sudden, an audio file was heard.

"Hello Iris, it's Cross, your father." Iris immediately looked at Timcanpy. It had no image of Marshall Cross.

How unfair and cruel of you, papa.

"Just wanted to say, it seems you're doing good at the Black Order. But not good enough as an Exorcist and as a user of Innocence. I was expecting to hear news of you breaking the synchronization limit, the critical point."

How can I break the critical point when all that the Order gives me are easy missions? When Iris was still with her father, Marshal Cross would push her to the limit even if was still a child. Now, she doesn't even get a chance to push herself to the point of breaking apart.

She always have a feeling that Komui is behind it. He won't allow Iris to become the Order's tool, she can't be a sacrifice just yet... She musn't become a sacrifice. They must not become a sacrifice, not now, not ever!

My maximum synchronization rate two years ago was 91, now it's just only 93. What a slow development. At this rate, I'll gain one percent per year since that's how it looks.

"Train harder, and even harder! Become a General like me already so you can leave that place."

Iris halted her train of thought and asked herself a question. Do I want to leave this place? To her, this place was already her home. The only reason that makes her want to come back is because of the people she's close to that lives here.

And who the hell would allow a sixteen year old kid to be a General? Although... the title sounds cool and neat.

"I have a mission for you." The girl listened intently.

"Watch Allen, wherever he is and whenever. Especially during missions, do not be separated from him."

Allen? Why should I keep an eye on him?

"I'm sure you heard Hevlaska's prophecy about Allen. All that I can say is that it's connected to that prophecy. You can also choose not to do it, but you won't be able to know the truth and the secrets I've been hiding."

That surely caught Iris' attention. Not only that, Cross was using his secrets as a wager to make Iris agree. He knows very well that his daughter wants to know everything he's hiding, and so he's using it.

"Gah, fine! I'll watch Allen!" The girl gave up. She could feel and see Cross's grin on his face clearly.

"That's all that I want to say. And I almost forgot, I'm heading for Japan. I'm going to continue my mission to destroy the Akuma factory. Want to meet me? Become stronger in order to go to such a corrupted and dangerous place. Cross out."

Timcanpy then spreads its wings and flies around the room. Iris falls to her bed, having no choice but to do as Cross says.

She does't agree on watching Allen because it's basically babysitting him. And she's sure Allen wants to experience everything by himself. Keeping an eye on him would mean execution of dangers that will possibly fall upon him.

Where's the development in that? She asks herself.

Maybe I'll literally just watch, for Allen's sake. If something fatal would fall upon him, only then will I move.

Iris stands up and opens the door so Timcanpy can go back to Allen. After the golden golem flew out, she closes the door and decided to sleep. Sleeping was easy for her even if she just slept a while ago.

Sliding underneath the white blanket, she snuggles and closes her eyes. The moment she did, the first thing that comes into mind was her dream.

Dismissing it, she goes into a deep sleep.
