Chapter Seven

Arriving at the holding cell, Wade had shoved Sean into it, which was nothing more than a white room aside from the large metal table in the center. Sean's heart thumped. He gave a swift glance at the window to see that Mark and Adam were staring at him. Sean attempted to learn what they were saying, but the impenetrable glass made it hard to make out anything on the other side. It tempted Sean to communicate, but the doors slid open. The fox inside of him took over while men in a white lab coat entered. Sean leaped to his feet and attacked the scientists, his hands outstretched and claws forming from his nails. The next thing he knew, a sudden electrical current spread throughout his body. Sean cried out and collapsed to the floor. His vision blurred, but all he could see outlined Mark and his boss. The next thing he knew, it engulfed him in darkness. Not long after they had hit him with an electrical current did he find himself strapped to the metal table in the center of the room. Sean struggled to break free while a scientist was getting a needle ready. Sean gasped and tried to free himself, but the heavy metal kept him in place.

"Stop moving." says a scientist, a man with blonde hair and blue eyes.

"What are you going to do to me?" Sean questioned.

"Nothing personal," says a young man with brown hair. "We need some of your blood."

"Why?" Sean asked and screamed. "Let me go!" The blonde head turned toward his partner.

"Julian," he says. "Hold him still," Julian nodded and gripped Sean's arm tight. The needle came down toward Sean's skin. Electricity escaped from it shocking the scientists and forcing them to stumble. "The fox must be trying to fight back! Stop fighting!" the blonde exclaimed. Suddenly, Sean thrashed more. Hiss eyes turned a brighter shade of blue, yelling at the scientists.

"Your all gonna die!" Sean said with no context before the scientists plunged the needle into his blood vein. After it had been over, they unstrapped Sean and shoved him on the ground. Sean groaned and struggled to get up.

"That's all we needed." the blonde laughed. Sean glanced at his skin immediately. His eyes grew wide. The small hole was already healing. His enemies hadn't even noticed. They walked out of the room, leaving him in there with no food or water. Sean was now alone. He lies on the cold hard floor trying to force himself to sleep. Three hours of uncomfortable sleep had passed, and he heard the doors slide open. Sean bolted awake, expecting to see the scientists entered the room. He backed away, allowing for his eyes to adjust to the brightness. Standing at the door was none other than Mark Fischbach.

Mark entered the room and saw the scene before him. They backed Sean into a corner, scared stiff.

"Hey," He said easing his way toward Sean who glared at him with dagger filled eyes. "I know we got off to a bad start, but I was wondering if we could start over," Mark stayed silent, waiting for Sean to say something. The kid pulled his legs against his chest. "I know I was a jerk today, but I realized what I've done is wrong," Mark continued. "I brought you some dinner, now I don't know what Kitsunes eat, but I brought it for you," Sean refused to say anything so Mark placed the tupperware and spoon in front of him and stepped back. "I know Adam may not be feeding or giving you something to drink, so I thought it would be best to show you how sorry I am."

"Did you do something to it?" Sean said narrowing his eyes toward Mark.

"I did nothing to it." Mark and Sean locked eyes. Neither one said anything or risked saying the wrong thing. Sean's face soften and he reached over pulling the tupperware and spoon to him. Mark watched from a distance as the kid opened the tupperware and shoved the spoon into it, then into his mouth. Mark grew surprised when Sean wolfed the food down without a second thought. "I know what you are." Mari said. Sean paused mid chew and swallowed.

"How?" Sean started. Mark leaned against the medical table, acting all calm and collected.

"A girl named Ashley and my girlfriend told me." Mark responded. Sean scoffed despite Mark telling the truth. Mark groaned and touched the bridge of his nose. Getting the Kitsune to listen to him was going to be harder than he thought. So far, at least he ate it was better than not eating at all, especially since they were going to escape tonight. "My point is, I want to help you." Sean downed the last of his food and wiped away the liquid.

"Why would someone like you want to help me?" Sean asked. "You're the one who dragged me here." Sean yelled. It did not faze Mark, so he cleared his throat.

"I know and I'm sorry," Mark reassured the kid. "I was told that Kitsune doesn't ask for help, and that the person who wants to help them has to do it of their own free will. I need you to trust me. I'll help and I won't give up on you," he continued. "Do you want to get out of here or not?" he demanded. Mark held out a bottle of water where Sean reached out and politely took it from his hand and drank it. He set the drink down next to him.

"I want to get out, but how do you plan to free me?" Sean asked. Mark thought about it for a few minutes before answering.

"I'll come back tonight with bags and we can leave," Suggested Mark. "However, I don't know where you need to go."

"I have to get to the temple of the kitsune." Sean answered. Mark raised an eyebrow, wondering what Sean had been talking about. Sean rolled his eyes and stood up.

"I was told that my powers will lead me to the temple itself," as if registering what he was saying, Sean looked Mark up and down. Mark got off the table waiting for Sean to keep going, but he needed to make sure that no one else was around. "The woman who spoke to me in my dreams also said that you were an important aspect of my journey." Mark wanted to throw up in his mouth. He hated that troupe. It was in every single movie and book he had seen or read, now here he was talking with a person who he thought was part of folklore.

"Let me guess," Mark said. "Something about our destinies being intertwined, right?" Sean turned away from him and nodded.

"Yes." Sean said.

"Then I'll help you no matter what." Mark held out his hand. "That is if you trust me." Sean hesitated. Mark became anxious and impatient about what Sean planned to do. With a miracle, the kid grabbed Mark's hand and shook it.
