Chapter 12 (Edited)

I gritted my teeth, as I stalked towards the bus that would take me and my pack back home. I was definitely annoyed with everything. I was annoyed from how my "mate" tried to control me and to the new mark that was on my wrist.

I had no idea why me of all people had to get the mark, that meant something. I mean, I never had a tattoo and poof, one showed up on me. Now, I was going to have to live with it and with anything that it would bring.

"Something's not right," I muttered, gritting my teeth and sitting down in my usual spot. I huffed and shook my head, before I leaned it on the window beside me. I couldn't help but close my eyes, wanting this exhausting day to be over and done with.

A few minutes later, I opened my eyes, tensing. I knew that something was wrong. I had no idea where my pack was. I mean, Kate usually stopped me at the beginning of the trek to the bus and talk to me while we get on. However, she didn't do that today, and I wondered why not.

I growled a warning, before putting my bag under the seat and shifting into wolf form. I went to the back and hid under a seat, waiting for something to appear. I knew that something was going to happen, and I wanted the element of surprise on my side.

"Are you sure that she is here?" I heard someone ask with a growl. "She's not here."

"Ah, Shammon, have faith in my grandaughter," an older person said. "She is here."

"And, how can you be so sure? She could have surprised you and left with her pack."

There was a chuckle and someone moved to the back of the bus, where I was hiding. "My dear, Shammon," my grandfather said. "Jaz is a character of order and schedule. She is a predictable person. With that note, she is here on the bus."

Shammon snorted, and I could tell that he had rolled his eyes. "And where is she?"

There was some movement, as the person got down on the floor, and I was looking into kind, gray eyes that were hiding behind spectacles. I knew those gray eyes, and I've known them for most of my life. I could see the love in them, because he was my grandfather.

"Come on out, Jaz. We need to talk."

I frowned, as I looked at him, letting him know that I wasn't pleased with him. I didn't care if he was my elder or my grandfather, at that moment. I knew that he was hiding something from me, and I knew that the rest of the people on the bus knew about it, also.

"Don't make me grab your tail and pull you out."

I snorted and rolled my eyes, knowing that he was going to do it. However, I abided by his wishes and got out from underneath the seat. I stood and held my head high, letting them know that I was still an Alpha, even though I hadn't started my own pack yet, with my "mate".

"Shift," my father ordered. His eyes were cold and hard, and he had that look that he was upset about something. There was a bit of hurt in them, and I wondered where that was coming from. I knew that I hadn't done anything wrong.

I held back an eyeroll and shifted into human form. I stood tall and proud, as I looked at the group that was gathered. I was going to let them know that they didn't intimidate me, even though there were more of them than me.

Nine other pairs of eyes looked at me. Some the pair of eyes held respect. The other pair of eyes were filled with hatred, wariness, and/or anger. However, there were a few that were filled with fear, as if they knew something that I didn't.

I frowned, as I saw those looking at me like that. What they could be so mad about? I mean, I didn't do anything wrong. I sure as hell wasn't that scary. But, there was fear and other crap in their eyes.

"Come, let's go to the front," my grandfather said, breaking me from my thoughts. He touched my arm and gently led me over.

Lucian DeLuka was his name, and he was an Elder Alpha, the highest rank that a Wolf could get. He had a thick head of white hair, and he had gray eyes, that contrasted from mine and my father's green eyes. He always had a smile on his face, even if he was upset.

My grandfather loved helping people out. He was the go to guy where people had questions and such. He was the kindest person that I've ever known, and I don't know how he got a granddaughter like me.

I nodded my head and walked to the front of the bus. Silently, I sat in my usual seat, with my grandfather sitting down beside me. I glanced around, watching as everyone else filed around the area, probably trying to make sure that I didn't escape or something.

"Jaz," my father said, making me look up at me. He sighed and looked down, before he looked back up at me. "There are some stuff that we need to discuss. However, what is said in here can never be said out there. Do you understand?"

I nodded my head. "Of course, Alpha."

My grandfather sighed and reached for my arm, where my new mark had appeared. He chuckled a little when I moved it away from him. "It's alright, Jaz. I know what is on it. But, you don't know what it is or why you got it." He held out his hand. "Now, let me see your arm."

I frowned but obliged and placed my arm into his hand My whole body went stiff as he moved the sleeve of my shirt up. "Well?" I asked as he studied the mark, making a couple of tsking sounds.

"Well, for one, this hasn't been seen on a Werewolf for over a couple of centuries, when the first Werewolf was created from a witch and a wolf shifter, who wasn't a Werewolf."

"Meaning?"

"It means that you are a half blood. You are half whatever, and you are half Wolf." He pointed towards. "This is the Ancient Egyptian Ankh which means eternal life. There was a legend long ago that portrayed a female Wolf that had the mark and she became called the Shandhi, which meant the life-giver. She was half Romanian Wolf and half Egyptian sorceress, so the Egyptian Gods and Goddess had made the mark appear on her. She was chosen to be the life-giver of all the Wolves. She was given the chance to make a new pack with someone, or she was to choose to be paired up with her true mate, which would help the Wolves to stay together and create unity."

I frowned, hearing some of this before. "She chose to make the new pack, and her true mate had gotten angry and placed the world into darkness. That is why there are humans on Earth. They were from magical beings, but their family had lost their power. They became the first humans."

My grandfather nodded his head. "There was an explanation in the book and teachings. However, it had been lost." He pulled his bag towards him, and pulled out an old looking journal plus a necklace. "Even though it had been lost, it was found again." He glanced at me, seeing that I was curious about the book. "There had been made two swords for the female. They were made of Earth, Water, and Fire, Air. The blades that represented the elements were made of metal, and they looked like they were created from their element. Both of the blades were placed with gold encrusted handles, that had the Ankh symbol. When Pearl was about to be killed by her true mate, the swords were broken into 8 pieces. And, they were never to be found again."

I frowned. "If I need to make the swords again, then how will I be able to find them?"

He handed me a gold necklace that looked like one of those old coins with a hole in it. "With this," he said, holding it by the golden chain. "You put it on a map, and it will show you the way." He handed it to me, keeping the book with him.

I nodded my head and placed it around my neck. "What else?" I asked. I placed it underneath my shirt, knowing that I was going to be looking at it.

"That's about it. However, there were two groups that were created before Pearl, the one that wore Ankh before you, was killed. Bane, the one that was supposed to be her true mate, created a group called Searchers. They Searched for the possible sign of the Shandhi, which meant life-giver, before they reach their full strength and potential." He paused and moved a hand across the old book, thinking. "The other group that was created was called Protectors. They looked after the Shandhi, helping them reach their full potential. The Protectors also studied the Shandhi, because they wanted to be prepared for the next one."

I frowned, confused. "How do you know about all this?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. I sighed and reached for my bag, holding it close to my chest, as if it would protect me from what was coming. I was nervous. I was supposed to be some big shot, however, I was just a normal Alpha Wolf. I was to join up and make a new pack.

My grandfather smiled. However, it looked more like a grimace than a smile. "Because, my grandmother was the one before you."
