Enough for Everyone

Sunlight filtered through the curtains in the Potter cottage and Jasper woke in the guest bedroom to find Sirius Black sitting on the edge of the bed, grinning down at him. Jasper stared up at him, blinking, unsure if he was a hallucination or not.

"Morning Sunshine," Sirius said lowly.

Jasper rubbed the sleep from his eyes and sat up. "Gordon Bennett, Sirius, what'choo doin' starin' at me like that?" he asked.

"Why? Do you find it weird?"

"Yes, actually."

Sirius threw his head back with his loud, barking laughter, a wide grin spreading over his mouth. "Sorry, it wasn't my intention. I just wanted to tell you. I forgot to tell you one of my best tips about marriage last night."

"What's that, Sirius?" Jasper asked.

Sirius took a deep breath and he leaned closer, wagged his fingers for Jasper to come real close and he bent in and whispered his tip into Jasper's ear. Jasper blinked as Sirius whispered and then he pulled back and stared at Sirius. "Bloody hell."

Sirius grinned.

"You're filthy."

"I know." Sirius grinned. "But trust me."

"I'm getting dressed now."

Sirius's eyes sparkled.

"Go away. I can't look at you after hearing you say that."

Sirius laughed again - that same barking laugh.

The door opened and James stuck his head in. "Morning." He saw the look on Jasper's face, then looked at Sirius. "Oh c'mon Sirius, what've you done?"

"Nothing that Meg won't thank me for," Sirius replied, sliding up off the bed to his feet.

"Go get Remus and Peter and the others moving, will you?" James demanded.

Sirius grinned. "Yes sir." He glanced at Jasper. "You can thank me later."

Jasper turned bright red.

"GO!" James pointed to the door. Sirius's laugh echoed down the hallway as he went and James shook his head. "I'm sorry, we can't keep him leashed all the time, though I do blame him wandering about the house all alone this early in the morning on Remus." James stepped inside and closed the door, then went and got the zipped clothing bag that held Jasper's outfit for the day. He unzipped it and pulled out the hanger inside. "Are you excited? Nervous?"

"Yes," Jasper answered.

James smiled, "I remember all too well the feeling." He dusted off the trousers. "But you've got nothing really to worry about, you and Meg are great together."

"We are." Jasper smiled.

There was a knock on the door and it pushed opened a bit and Oliver Kent stuck his head in the gap. "Hullo - we okay to come in?"

"Hey! Of course," Jasper smiled and the door pushed opened and in poured Kevin, Michael, Nate, and Eli. Kevin carried a tray of breakfast and Eli had Yertle in his box. All five boys were dressed in khaki-coloured trousers and a dark forest green oxford with leather trousers - identical to the outfit that Jasper had in the zippered bag James had just opened up for him to dress in. "Look at you lot," Jasper said, eyes crinkling with joy at the boys.

"You and mum are gettin' married, gettin' married!" sang Nate as he danced across the room to the bed and climbed up, then pulled Eli up, too. The tray was piled high with enough breakfast for everyone and the boys clustered about Jasper on the bed.

"How could you be anything but excited," smiled James. "I'll let you lot enjoy your family breakfast. I've got official duties setting up for later."

"Everything's good, like we discussed, for the reception?"

James nodded, "Indeed. You should see what people have already brought."

Jasper wrapped his arms around Eli and Nathan and kissed the top of Eli's head as Michael slopped jam onto a piece of toast and Oliver did up Kevin's bow tie. "Thanks James."

"Absolutely." James winked and ducked out of the room.

Meanwhile, across town at Marlene and Emmaline's flat, the girls were all squealing and getting dressed, doing each other's hair and weaving flower crowns through one another's hair. Meg held her arms up over her head as Annalee and Alice magicked the off-white taffeta puff of a dress over Meg's head. It hung delicately to the floor, all lace and tulle. The fitted bodice was short, the tulle hanging in a straight a-line from immediately at the top of Meg's ribs and down to the floor, effectively covering up her pregnant belly elegantly. Lily magicked embroidered wild flowers through the tulle so that foxglove, chamomile, buttercups, brown-eyed susans, daisies, cornflower, poppies, morning glories, and sweet peas wove about Meg's waist and fell delicately down the length in clusters. They were all the same flowers that Alice had magicked into Meg's hair.

"Oh my gods you're gorgeous," Marlene said, tucking a loose strand of hair into Meg's plait, tearing up.

"Yeah?" Meg asked, tears in her eyes.

"Here look," Annalee turned her to look into a full length mirror, and Meg stared in disbelief. "See?" she begged, "Aren't you beautiful?"

"I look like a field of wild flower," Meg gasped.

Lily hugged Meg from the side and kissed her cheek. "You've always been beautiful, Meg."

Meg's eyes glistened and she hugged Lily 'round the neck as Annalee wrapped a pink ribbon about Meg's waist like a belt and tied it into a lovely bow that hung down Meg's back. Carly and McKenna were magicking tiny tear-drop shaped gems into Meg's hair so that she shone like a garden after a refreshing rain.

"Jasper's going to lose his breath," Carly said.

"I'm losing my breath," Emmaline said.

Marlene looked at her and smiled, "Me too."

Meg laughed and wiped tears from her eyes with her thumbs.

The little church where Jasper and Meg went to their meetings was hopping. Guests were arriving to the front door, the sunlight cutting over the steeple, doors flung open wide and decorated with flowers and tulle dressings. Flower petals and lanterns of varying styles and sizes lined the aisle going up to the front plinth where the podium had been pushed aside for a wooden arch, wrapped with flowers and fairy lights. Each row of pews had been hung with dressings like those on the door, and flowers had been magically suspended, along with tiny tea lights and lanterns, all throughout the church.

Everyone who came to the meetings was there, clustered about the aisles. James was meeting people at the door as they entered, carrying large trays and covered dishes. He had Sirius and Frank taking it in turns to run the foods down the stairs to the hall below floor, where the reception would be held after the ceremony. "Jasper and Meg thank you for your generosity," James told each person who arrived with food or drink, which was nearly everyone.

Lily ran up the walk way, dressed in a simple green dress and rushed up to where James stood by the doorway. "There's my handsome man," she said, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing his face.

"Hullo Love," James answered, looping his arm around her waist. "How's Meg?"

"She's beautiful, wait 'til you see her," Lily answered. She looked at James trousers and dark oxford and suspenders, all of which matched Jasper's, too, like the five boys', and she murmured, "Well - aren't you looking hot."

James smirked, "You think so?"

"Mhm," Lily nodded. Then she added, "I missed you last night."

"I missed you too." James kissed her cheek, then turned to greet a couple people as they arrived, carrying platters.

"And how is Jasper?" Lily asked.

"Well, after he recovered from Sirius traumatizing him earlier, he was quite well all day," James laughed.

"Oh no, Sirius Black, what did you do?" Lily asked - just as Sirius came up the stairs from the basement where the reception was being set up.

"What? Nothing?" Sirius asked, looking confused - and rightly so, given he really hadn't done anything (recently, yet).

James laughed. "It's alright, Padfoot."

"Blimey, can't even be innocent without getting barked at!" Sirius shook his head.

"You're not innocent," Remus said as he came up the stairs slowly, followed by the five Odair boys and Jasper himself. "You're never innocent."

"Oh look at you!" Lily cried, seeing the Odairs. She cupped her hands 'round Eli's cheeks and kissed his hair, then Nate and Michael, too. Kevin shook her hand and Oliver gave her a side-long hug as Jasper stepped up and Lily turned to him, holding out her arms, "Honey, you look so handsome."

Jasper smiled, "Thanks, Lily."

As she drew back from a hug, Lily pulled a handkerchief from a small purse that hung about her and dabbed her eyes, "I'm so happy for you and Meg," she repeated for probably the hundredth time.

Remus showed the way through to a small sitting area where Jasper and the boys could sit until the ceremony began.

"I'm going to go and sit," Lily said, kissing James.

"Alright, won't be long now," James said as she left.

Frank Longbottom clapped James on the shoulders and grinned, winking at him. "We're all so bloody lucky."

"We really are," Sirius nodded, watching Remus walking away with the Odairs behind him. Frank laughed, and he and Sirius continued on bringing the dishes downstairs as more and more guests arrived.

When the church was packed - every guest having arrived, James sent his patronus to Annalee, as they'd discussed, and his eyes darted 'round to the side of the church, where already a line was forming. He smiled and pulled the doors closed.

Inside, people were hustling to their seats, and James passed Jasper's brothers and mum as they left the small room Jasper and the boys were in - they'd gone to talk with him before the ceremony, and he showed them to their seats of honor at the front of the church, and waved to Meg's mum and her brother, who sat side by side in the front on the bride's side, then he jogged to the back, passing Remus as he went to his seat. Sirius and Frank stood sentinel at the door, ready to open and close as needed throughout the ceremony, and James paused beside them, looking over the room.

"Bloody hell we're getting good at these wedding things," Sirius said, grinning.

"We really are," James agreed, laughing.

He headed back to where Jasper and the boys all waited and stepped through the door.

"You lot ready?" he asked.

The boys all shouted yes and Jasper nodded with nervous excitement.

"Alright, let's go, then!" James said.

The lot of them went back out to the doors and inside music began and Sirius and Frank opened the doors.

First through was Eli and Nate. Eli carried Yertle, who had a tiny turtle-sized top hat on his head, held on by a loose elastic string. Nate and Eli walked up to the front of the room and sat on the edge of the plinth, Yertle balanced on Eli's lap carefully, the box at Eli's feet in case Yertle needed to be put down.

Next was Kevin and Michael, who walked side-by-side to the front and stood on the plinth behind where Nate and Eli sat. Kevin's face was stoic and serious, solemn for the event, but Michael was grinning and waving to people he knew in the pews.

Then came James and Oliver, who walked one after the other up - James following Oliver up the aisle to the plinth. They stepped up beside the wooden arch, Oliver stepping into line beside Kevin while James went up one additional step to be directly beside the arch.

Jasper was next and everyone turned to watch Jasper walk up the aisle. Mrs. Odair was crying as she watched her eldest son and the other brothers watched, grinning, and nudging one another to get a load of Jazzy. Mrs. Johnson hung onto her son's arm, too, and Jasper's mates from recover whistled and clapped for him as he passed, making his way up to the plinth.

Sirius and Frank closed the doors and a hush fell over the small church chapel, the music quieting to silence. James glanced at his watch. Eli scolded Yertle to sit still and everyone who was close enough to the front to hear him chuckled.

Then the music struck up again as Frank Longbottom grinned 'round the door frame as he pulled it opened in synchronization with Sirius...

McKenna and Emmaline came first, dressed in pretty purple dresses, clutching small handfuls of wild flower, which they tossed as they walked to the front of the chapel. They stood to one side and were promptly followed by Marlene, wearing a baby-pink dress. She walked slowly to the front, carrying a small pillow with one of the two ring upon it, which shone gold in the flickering candle light of the room. Last came Annalee, who made her way to the front and stepped up to the left of the arch, facing James. Annalee's dress was pale yellow and she clutched her bouquet and smiled at James across the space between them and he nodded to her, bowing his head.

James's eyes met Lily's. She was sitting in the front row beside Meg's mum and she smiled at him and gave him a thumbs up and James smiled back - thinking of how pretty she'd been, and - gods, had it really been nearly a year since they'd done this already? He could hardly believe it.

When Here Comes the Bride began, everyone turned to look at the door and a collective gasp went through the room as Meg seemed to float through the opened-wide doors, on the arm of her father, who's eyes were teary. They walked down the aisle, her hands grasping his arm, her chest heaving with deep gasps as she metered her breathing.

Jasper was grinning.

Remus looked back and caught Sirius's eyes and Sirius grinned and winked.

Meg had to remind herself not to hurry, not to run down the aisle. Her heart was pounding so hard with joy and excitement as she looked at all six of her boys waiting for her at the end of the aisle... It seemed to take forever to get to the front of the church - but when she had, Jasper nearly tripped over himself rushing to get to her as her father offered her hand to Jasper and Jasper took it gently in his own and led her up the steps to the arch. They were on the way up when Meg stopped and let out a gasp.

"What? What is it?" Jasper asked.

Meg looked up at him, eyes sparkling and grabbed his palm and pressed it to her stomach.

There was a kick.

Jasper let out a laugh.

Meg's eyes filled with tears as she pressed her hand there next to his and they both felt a kick. "Our whole family's here," she whispered.

Jasper grinned, glancing back at the boys, then back to her eyes, "I wouldn't have it any other way, would you?"

"Not at all," she laughed.

He led her up the rest of the way to the arch and they kept their hands on her stomach, feeling every kick the twins were willing to give them as the music faded off and James stepped forward to pat Jasper on the back with encouragement.

For once, the officiant was not Dumbledore, but an actual pastor - the pastor of the church, naturally, whom Jasper had grown rather close to during the work of running the recovery meetings there.

"Holy and dearly loved," the pastor began, "Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience... Bear with each other and forgive one another... and over all these virtues, put on love, which binds together in perfect unity... Let peace rule in your hearts, as members to one body called to peace, and be thankful, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts."

Jasper thought that everyone would hear his heart singing out loud if it got much louder in his chest. He clutched Meg's hand with one of his and pressed his other to her stomach as the pastor went on, as he called for any who objected to the union to speak and none spoke... and he led each of them through the recitation of their vows - the traditional vows about taking a man and taking a wife and becoming one and loving, cherishing, honoring, respecting and caring for one another in sickness and health.

They both did.

And the pastor grinned as Marlene stepped forward and handed Meg the ring to put on Jasper's hand and James stepped forward to give Jasper the ring to put on Meg's and the pastor pronounced them husband and wife and Jasper eagerly leaned forward to kiss the bride as the entire church exploded with cheers and cries of jubilee.

Flowers and rice and confetti flew through the air as Jasper and Meg broke apart from their first kiss, their fingers laced and tears falling over both their cheeks. Meg laughed as the babies kept kicking and she called for the boys to come and feel. Eli pressed his cheek to her stomach and shouted with excitement as Nate and Michael looked flummoxed and Oliver hugged Jasper and Kevin high-fived Meg and the chaos and joy filled the chapel.

"Everyone's invited downstairs!" Jasper shouted, "But a warning to ya - our reception isn't your typical wedding after party..."

"We're hosting the soup kitchen!" Meg explained giddily.

"And you're welcome to help us serve those in need who have come... There's enough for everyone!"

So it was that the entire wedding party moved downstairs where the church ran their soup kitchen on Wednesday evenings and the long line of men, women, and children that wrapped 'round the church were waiting for the promised meal. They were surprised to be welcomed into the hall by the newlyweds - the bride still in her beautiful dress as she helped to serve up the pot-luck style wedding feast - wedding cake and ice cream included, of course - to the homeless and the poor, right alongside her guests. And Lily was carrying a plate to a man in a wheel chair who couldn't hold the plate and roll his chair at the same time to collect the food through the line that had formed, and James was sitting and laughing with two men in ragged coats and unkempt beards, listening to their stories as Sirius was singing loudly with another man across the room who had fallen on bad times while trying to become a star... There was Remus, talking with a young woman and Bilius Weasley collecting dirty dishes to give to Frank and Alice, who were washing the dishes as quick as they were made. There were Jasper's brothers and mother, helping to pass out second helpings with big ladles and Meg laughing and smiling as an old man told her she was a beautiful bride - inside and out.

And over it all, love songs played and there was dancing and shouts of happiness, a great fuss made as everyone in the room - strangers and friends a like - cheered for the new Mr. & Mrs. Florean Fortescue the Fifth And Also Fifteenth slash Odair. And as You Take My Breath Away by Rex Smith played, Jasper swept Meg into his arms, suspenders hanging at his sides as they danced, he sang to her. "You... I don't know what to say... you take my breath away... you're every song I sing, you're the music that I play... You take my breath away..."

Sirius grinned, nudging Remus as he ate a piece of wedding cake with big strawberries on top. "Aw," he said, "Would you look at that? It's actually Jasper who does the singing after all that! I guess Meg would find our advice more helpful than he did."
