The Mages
A sense of dread filled you as soon as you opened your eyes the next morning. You couldn't place it yet, but something in your room was off. Sitting up, you look around your room with your head tilted. Your eyes land on your curtains, the fabric pulled away from your window just enough to let sunlight into your room. Furrowing your eyebrows, you stand from your bed, going to stand in front of them in confusion. "I know I closed these..." You murmur, the hair on the back of your neck standing up as your heart drops. "Shit!" Turning, you run over to your desk, tugging open the drawer, your breath catching in your throat when you find it empty aside from a few pens. You grab your cell phone, stumbling out of your room and banging on Nami's door that was across from yours.
"Wha-What?" She says sleepily, opening her door with a pout.
"Someone broke in! They came in through my window or left that way. They took the map..." You spit out quickly.
"... The cameras!" She gasps, suddenly running to her laptop and turning it on.
"Hm? Whats going on?" Robin yawns lightly.
"Someone broke in and took that map." You tell her, going after Nami. "And what do you mean cameras?"
"I don't want to be thieved! I hid cameras everywhere!" She tells you.
"Everywhere..." Robin frowns uneasily. Nami pauses, blushing lightly.
"I'm not a pervert!" She barks out before looking at the screen. "Bingo! Three a.m, a man is in ___'s room!"
"What the hell!?" You growl, going to sit next to her. "He went straight for it like he knew I had it. Build isn't big enough to be Aikanu or Kid..." Frowning, you watch the video for a little while, watching him take the map and slip back out your window.
"Weird... He looks familiar..." Nami frowns.
"I doubt he's dangerous, since he was in and out like that." Robin comments before checking the windows.
"I don't care if he himself is a danger to me..." Frowning, you look over at Robin. "That map can get people killed. What if he sells it? Or what if he grabbed it for a hunter?" You pace the floor, your fingers finding their way into your hair. "I need some fresh air." You mumble, leaving to go stand on the porch, taking a few deep breaths once you get there. But that does little as you catch sight of Akainu carrying a large case toward town.
"Shit..." You breathe, running back into the house to your room, passing a bewildered Robin and Nami as you fly past them. Changing quickly, you look around not sure what to do. "Gotta find Sabo." You mutter, going back to the living room while typing out a quick message to the blond man.
'Good morning Sabo! How are you?'
'I'm good, how did you sleep?' He replies a few moments later.
'Good actually. Yourself?' You tap your foot on the floor, anxiously waiting for a reply so you could ask what he was doing for the day. Hopefully, that would give some sort of clue as to where he was. Then he calls you. You take a deep breath, calming yourself down so you wouldn't seem so stressed out over the phone.
"Hey Sabo!"
"Mm sorry, I just woke up and my eye is swollen so texting would be too slow." He breathes and you hear a slight yawn.
"Your eye is swollen? What happened?" You question, chewing on your lip nervously.
"Oh I um... Kinda got hit by a car last night- but I'm fine, really." He admits.
"What?! You got hit by a car? Did you go to the hospital?" You ask quickly into the phone, starting to pace again.
"Really I'm fine... If you haven't eaten yet... Do you wanna get breakfast with me?" He asks sounding a bit nervous. You pause.
"Um yeah, breakfast sounds fine. Are you sure you're okay though? Want me to come get you or something? It can't be okay to be up walking around after being hit by a car Sabo."
"You underestimate how tough I am, meet me at the doughnut place?"
"Sure. Twenty minutes?"
"Sounds good, see you then." He rumbles.
"Yeah see you then." You hum, hanging up the phone and sliding it in your pocket. "I'm gunna go get breakfast with Sabo. I uh...I just need to make sure he is okay." You leave the house, not really waiting for either woman to say anything as you walked quickly to the donut place, getting there a couple minutes before you had planned. After a few minutes he shows up, his right eye swollen and bruised, bruises speckled his right side, but he had a smile and some flowers in his grasp.
"Morning." He greets lightly.
"Morning..." You frown, standing from the seat you had taken to look over him, a wave of relief hitting you now that he was in front of you. "I'm glad to see you're okay for the most part. You had me worried."
"Told you," He smiles, giving you the flowers. "You look stressed, did something else happen?"
"I uh...just had a weird morning." You hum, smelling the flowers with a small smile. "Thank you for these. They're beautiful. My favorites too." He frowns lightly for a moment before smiling softly, tipping your chin.
"They suit you then..." He breathes before becoming playful. "Shall we get some breakfast? You're looking so thin my dear." He makes his voice raspy like an elderly man, poking your stomach. You giggle, nodding.
"Oh most definitely. I'm absolutely starved!" You say dramatically, holding a hand to your head like you would faint.
"Well missy, lets get you fed." He takes your hand leading you to a little breakfast place. You smile as he leads you along, your earlier stress leaving you briefly as the two of you sit down for breakfast.
"I'm curious, how did you manage to get hit by a car? Did the driver stop to help you at all?" He pauses, zoning out briefly, "It just flew at me... I don't think anyone was in it." He says.
"...what?" You blink, raising an eyebrow. "Sabo are you sure you don't need to go to the hospital. Cars don't normally move on their own, nor do they fly." He shifts and rubs his scar slightly, blue eyes shifting to the side.
"No the one who needs to be in the hospital is already there..." He mutters mostly to himself. "I'm fine." He speaks up.
"If you say so..." You murmur, watching him worriedly again. He meets your gaze and pouts slightly.
"If it'll make you feel better, we'll go see a doctor." He offers
"It would, but we don't have to if you don't want to. I don't want to make you uncomfortable or anything." You tell him.
"Heh... it's nice that you're worried... We'll go see him after this then." He decides as the food is brought over.
"Okay." You nod, giving him a small smile. Your plate is set in front of you and the two of you eat in a comfortable silence. When you've eaten enough to fill you up, you push the plate away and take a sip from your drink. He finishes as well and sets the money on the table before standing up.
"Alright let's go, he shouldn't be busy since Kid's his only patient right now."
"Kid got hurt too?" You question, frowning again. The fact that the both of them had gotten hurt scared you, especially now that the map was gone.
"Yeah... Last night he got caught in a fire and uh lost..." He scratches his cheek before leading the way.
"Fire..." You frown, following him as a million thoughts run through your head. He peers at you and frowns lightly with a sigh, taking your hand.
"___, you're worrying too much."
"Yeah probably." You hum, giving him a small smile and squeezing his hand. He leads you to a building next to the hospital, stopping at the doors.
"___... Do you want to tell me something?" He asks you, looking at you with a slight frown. Looking up at him, you tilt your head.
"What do you mean?" You ask, a small frown coming to your face. He searches your face briefly.
"You'll see. I trust you so..." He opens the door and guides you in. You have to pause upon entering. This, wasn't the building you knew. You look around in confusion, glancing over at Sabo.
"Sabo, where are we exactly?" You question, thrown off now that you weren't where you thought you were going.
"Somewhere safe." He simply replies, leading you down the hall carefully and reaching a door. "Law its me." He says. You blink at the door as it opens before gaping at the man that stood on the other side.
"Y-you!" A stutter leaves your lips, as you stare at the man in confusion. "You were missing! W-what the hell..." You take a step back, another memory pulling at your mind from that morning that made you pale slightly. "You're the one that broke in last night!" He blinks at you for a few times before frowning at Sabo.
"Sabo-ya, just because you beat Kid doesn't mean you can do this sort of thing." He sighs.
"She already knows, no point in hiding." Sabo guides you into the room.
"Sabo I need to know what the hell is going on." You say, looking at the blond in complete confusion as you walk into the room. He looks at you.
"I'm getting a check up. And I trust Law's judgment more than the normal doctors." He sits down.
"I'm starting to question yours..." Law mutters, starting to examine him.
"Did you find it?" Sabo hums to him.
"No, nothing besides us is showing up on the map. I've been watching it for hours." Law says, looking to his desk. You blink, realizing what they were talking about, a wave of relief making you sit down in a chair.
"Y-you have it? Oh thank god."
"Yeah, I was going to return it to you tonight, but since he brought you here, just take it with you when you leave." Law states. "As I told you last night, you have no serious injuries." He says straightening up.
"Why did you take it in the first place?" You question, frowning at Law and crossing your arms.
"That parasite I told you about, was a mage that sucked the life from that area." Sabo tells you.
"Yes, and they wanted to alert the humans to it." Law frowns. "We thought the map could help but..." You blink at Sabo, frown deepening.
"You could have just asked me for it...Do you know how terrified I was when I woke up and that thing was gone?! Especially with the new hunter across the street leaving his house with a huge case this morning!" You lean your head back against the wall, the weight of all of your stress that you had been holding onto making you sigh loudly.
"Sabo-ya didn't know that I went to get it. He and Kid were too busy trying to kill one another." Law shoots Sabo a frown. "Whom I must go check on again. Kid has already told us about the hunter so you don't need to worry." He adds, patting your shoulder before leaving you and Sabo alone. You lift your head from the wall looking over at Sabo.
"So you fought with Kid and that's how you got all beat up?" Standing from your chair, you walk over to him, sitting down next to him. "I'm just so glad you're okay and that you guys had it."
"Yeah... I wasn't lying though. That bastard threw a car at me." He chuckles lightly, looking at his hands. "Is that map the reason you finally noticed me?" He asks, peering at you.
"I uh..." You look down at the floor. "Yeah. I had gotten it the night before the first time I ran into you. I didn't know what it was, so when I saw a moving blue dot on it I just followed it and it led me to you." Scratching your cheek, you sigh looking back over at him. "I'm glad it did though." He smiles at that.
"Keep it. I'm happy you found it..." He relaxes and leans back. "I think someone cursed me in school." He breathes thoughtfully.
"Why do you say that?" You ask, raising an eyebrow. He chuckles and looks at you.
"We were partnered up a few times in high school. We even discussed things, but I could never get you to see me then. I tried too." He sighs and looks down briefly. "But, as I expected, you're worth the wait." You chuckle, leaning over to kiss his cheek lightly.
"Always such a sweetheart. I'm sorry I didn't notice you sooner Sabo." He smiles and looks at you.
"It's alright, I'm glad you found me on your own, it was a very nice surprise." He breathes, looking into your eyes.
"Yeah...it was huh?" You hum, a soft smile on your face. Lifting a hand, you cup his cheek, leaning forward to press a kiss against his lips. He pauses before kissing you deeply and holding you close and warm. Unfortunately the sweet moment didn't last. The door opens and Law frowns at you two.
"Oh no you don't, this is my hospital not a romance story. Get out." He says grumpily. You jump, pulling away with a small smile on your face. Looking over at Law, you frown a little.
"Wait, where have you been? Weren't you supposedly missing?"
"Me and a few others had to leave town to secure the mages safety here," He shrugs. "It was something we were ill prepared to do which is why 'missing' was the only thing they could think of.
"Oh..." You nod. "So all of you that went missing around the same time, are just hiding out here?" He and Sabo exchange a glance.
"I was the only one to return," He sighs lightly.
"We still don't know what happened to the others." Sabo agrees,
"I see." You hum, a small frown on your face. "Sorry, my thoughts are just catching up with me. So what did you mean about another mage sucking the life from things? Are you sure that's what's happening?" Law sighs lightly, taking a potted plant from the window seal and bringing it over.
"Our power comes from the world around us. We need energy." He holds his hand up to the plant, it shakes slightly and you watch as one of the leaves browns and black spots appear over it.
"But we can receive energy by just passing through nature, there's no need for plants or animals to die from our presence." Sabo touches the same leaf, healing it, but now it had a greenish blue hue. "Does that help?"
"Yeah, I think I understand." You nod, watching the two men. "So what does it mean for such a large patch of the woods to be dead? They want more power?"
"Yeah, that and they did it on purpose." Law places the plant back.
"Maybe that's why the hunter has come." Sabo frowns
"No. He told me it was because of how his father was killed." You frown, shaking your head. "His insides were completely burned but there was no trace of a fire where he died." Law stops and curses under his breath, glancing at the other mage before turning away.
"Go away already. I'm too busy to worry about all that right now."
"Oh alright." You frown but stand. "Can I have my map back please?"
"I already told you to take it." He reminds you as Sabo gets up.
"Okay okay." You huff grabbing your map back from his desk. "Bye. Have fun with...whatever you're busy with." Sabo smiles awkwardly and leads you out.
"Sorry, I should've warned you, he likes being alone, so the longer he's around others the grumpier he gets." He says sheepishly, frown trying to tug at his lips.
"It's okay." You hum, giving a small shrug. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about the map sooner. I know it probably made me seem...not the most trustworthy. I just didn't want it getting out that I had it." He stops and turns to you.
"It's okay ___, I do trust you. I know you have your reasons... I'm just glad I don't have to hide this side from you." He smiles. "I'd love to show you what I can do."
"Oh? I'm pretty excited to see." You smile. He grins at that, taking your hand.
"Then how about we go heal that area? Then maybe go swimming again."
"I think that sounds great." You hum, squeezing his hand. He cheerfully leads you at that but stops as something occurs to him.
"Wait... You thought the hunter was armed this morning right? It could be... He'll be staking out the dead spot in case we went to investigate or heal it.... but that would mean there's a mage working with him..." He puts a knuckle to his lip in thought. "Maybe it'll be safer if we just go swimming in that case. I'll warn the others to stay away from the area just in case."
"Oh yeah. That sounds like a good idea." You nod in agreement. He takes you back home so you can get your bathing suit on, walking in you find Nami and Robin were gone, probably to work.
"Wait here. I'll be right back." You tell Sabo before going to your room to change. Looking at the drawer of your desk, you frown, deciding to store the map in your bedside table for now until you could get something with a lock on it. You change quickly, rejoining Sabo in the living room once you had grabbed a towel. "Alright. Ready to go?"
He nods and pauses, "I should probably get my swimming trunks from home..." He pauses and blushes lightly. "I knew I should've cleaned up...." He mutters. You giggle shaking your head.
"I'm sure it'll be fine. I don't mind." Taking his hand you pull him from your house, locking everything behind you. He nods and guides you to his house on the other side of town.
"I'm not trying to make excuses but, I do live with Luffy." He says pointedly. "I'm not a messy person."
"Don't worry I understand." You smile over at him, leaning over to kiss his cheek. He blinks and chuckles sheepishly at that, leading you into the house. It honestly looked better than you were expecting.
"I'll uh be right back." He says swiftly going into his room.
You hum to yourself, looking around the house curiously as you waited for him. A few pictures on the wall caught your eye, making you smile when you see a younger Sabo and Luffy smiling brightly into the camera. "Cute." One of the graduation photos makes you pause, seeing Ace, Luffy, and Sabo together, but Sabo was looking over at a group of girls that were all smiling to each other. A soft smile was resting on his lips. Curious, you step closer and blush, recognizing your roommates and yourself as the girls in the photo. You smile at the affectionate look in his eyes as he looked at you in the picture. It was so sweet. Your eyes scan a few more pictures, most of them featuring all three brothers, but some of the later ones only showing Sabo and Luffy.
"Alright, I'm ready if you are." He returns, looking to the pictures as well.
"Oh, Mhmm." You look over at him with a small smile. "You were a cutie when you were little." You tell him, nodding to a picture of the three brothers at around elementary school age. He blushes lightly.
"Yeah, we were serious trouble makers back then." He hums thoughtfully. "I bet you were an adorable little princess when you were little," he teases, pecking your cheek
"I guess." You shrug, giggling and taking his hand. "I was like any other little girl. Dresses, bows, and lots of pink."
"Adorable." He breathes cheerfully, leading you back out and toward the lake. The two of you reach the lake again, setting your stuff down on the same bench as the day before. You strip down to your bathing suit, turning to stare at Sabo again. He removes his clothes and you catch sight of some bigger bruises that made you frown, but at least he seemed to be fine with them. Just how many times has he gotten into fights for him to be immune to them?
"Cars do a lot of damage don't they." You say, your eyes trailing up the bruises that littered his skin. "What were you and Kid even fighting about?" He pauses, straightening up slightly.
"He... Threatened you and your friends." He admits, not looking back at you. "So I made him step down." Walking over to him, you place a hand on his shoulder.
"Even though I don't like that you got hurt, thank you." He offers a small smile.
"I wonder if you'd look at me the same way if you saw him now..." He murmurs.
"I'm sure I would. He was threatening us. Whatever he ended up with was deserved." He hums, and kisses your cheek, taking your hand. "Let's go swimming." He hums thoughtfully.
"Okay." You smile, following him into the water. He turns to you, taking your hands as he guides you out toward the center steadily. You let go of his hand once you get closer to the center only to wrap your arms around his neck. He blinks and chuckles lightly, blushing lightly again, holding you close.
"Ready?" He breathes softly.
"Mhmm" You nod, smiling warmly at him. He chuckles, glancing around briefly before you both suddenly sink down into the water, but not too fast. You look around the murky water curiously before your eyes go back to Sabo. He slides three fingers over both sides of his neck. You raise an eyebrow until the skin lifts slightly where he touched. Gills? He smiles before doing the same to you. There's a tingle and air comes into your lungs suddenly. You blink in surprise, running your fingers over your neck, feeling the now raised skin there. A bright, excited smile comes to your face, wondering what he would do next. He chuckles at your reaction.
"That's a cute reaction." He breathes before you both reach the lake floor. It was hard to see what was around you which made it feel eerie.
"This feels so weird." You tell him, looking around again. "To be at the bottom of the lake but breathing and talking like we are on land. It's amazing." He smiles at that.
"Here, let's make this more magical." He says before looking around, blowing out little bubbles of light around you both, lighting up the area around you as well as the rather large fish that swam by, some even stopping to nip at the bubbles. You giggle happily, reaching out to touch one of the bubbles as it floats away from your fingertips.
"Beautiful."
"What? Did you catch your reflection?" He inquires with a head tilt. You look over at him, a small smile on your lips as you just shake your head.
"You're amazing Sabo." He blushes lightly at that.
"You're the amazing one, taking this all so well." He pulls you close, taking your hand and leading you into a dance. You shrug a little.
"I just think it's all so interesting." You hum, leaning your head against his shoulder. He touches his cheek to your temple.
"Glad you think so." He hums lightly, holding you closer.
"Did you think I wouldn't find this absolutely amazing?" You ask.
"It's dangerous to be around mages knowingly since we're still hunted, and our magic... it's like a parasite, it feeds off the energy of whatever is around us. So, amazement isn't a common reaction." He points out softly.
"I...I don't think I care about any of that. I'm happy right here and I'll stay until you don't want me to anymore. No matter what sort of things we face." He stops and pulls back to look at you in clear surprise, searching your face.
"How on earth do you manage to make me love you even more every day?" He says in awe.
"Magic." You grin, taking his chin and pulling him into a kiss. He chuckles kissing you back deeply, fingers brushing through your hair softly. You pull back, smiling up at him. "I don't think I've ever been this happy. Or felt so adored."
"You have always been adored." He cups your cheek, looking into your eyes. "From the moment I saw you. I just wish I had been more outgoing about it, so no one could've hurt you like they did.... I love you ___." You blink at him, wrapping an arm around his neck.
"I love you too Sabo." You hum, pulling him into another kiss. He smiles into the kiss, pushing off the lake floor and making you both float back toward the surface, not breaking the kiss. When the two of you break the surface of the water, you pull back, smiling at him.
"So, wanna come over and watch a movie or something?"
"That sounds great." He smiles warmly at you.
"Good." You hum, breaking away from him to swim back to the shore. Grabbing your towel, you wrap it around yourself drying off before changing back into your clothes. He doesn't change at first, sitting down to catch his breath, seeming a bit drained as he looks to the water.
You sit down next to him, leaning against his shoulder. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I should've prepared to show off," He breathes sheepishly. "I'll be fine if I can go by some plants..." He shifts away. "Don't want to take your energy, it's not healthy for you." You frown, taking his hand.
"I'm fine Sabo. Come on let's take a different way back to my house. It's a little longer of a walk, but it goes along the edge of the woods." He nods and gets up, pulling on his clothes before taking your hand again and letting you lead the way. You lead him around the lake back towards your house. Instead of taking the sidewalk, you cut into the edge of the woods following the path that Nami had shown you a while back. He relaxes, hand brushing over the plants steadily, he closes his eyes with a small smile. You watch him quietly as the two of you walk along. A soft smile comes to your lips when you see that he started to look better, making you squeeze his hand lightly. He opens his eyes at that, looking at you before kissing your cheek softly. "Feeling better?" You ask as the woods open up to a clearing behind your house.
"Yeah," He breathes, leaning into you slightly. "What kind of movie did you have in mind?"
"Hmm, I dunno. What kind of movies do you like?" You hum, unlocking the door to your house.
"I don't watch many movies, to be honest..." He rubs his neck. "I guess adventure..."
"Okay." You nod, gesturing for him to go sit on the couch. "I'm sure I can find something." Rummaging through your movies you find one, putting it on and going to sit next to him on the couch. You lean against him, wrapping your arms around him and resting your head on his chest as the movie starts. He smiles, putting an arm around you, fingertips running over your arm gently. You smile softly, snuggling further into his side. The movie was decent, you had seen it before, but you thought Sabo might enjoy it. And he did, smiling at the different scenery and chuckling at fun parts.
"You know... I'd like to travel sometime. There are all kinds of mages in this world."
"Really?" You hum, glancing up at him. "I bet that would be fun. I'd love to see the world someday too."
"Then we'll do that soon, just have to save a bit more money for the journey." He rumbles thoughtfully.
"I like that idea. I would love to travel the world with you." He smiles more, hugging you tightly and nuzzling your neck.
"You're so amazing it's hard not to get flustered when you say things like that..." You giggle happily.
"I actually think your flustered face is pretty cute."
"You're one to talk." He grumbles lightly, pulling back to give you a pout. "I can't think of anything cuter than you." Leaning over, you kiss his cheek.
"You're such a sweetheart."
"I'm honest." He chuckles, eskimo kissing you.
"We're home!" Nami chimes marching in.
"Oh, hello Sabo." Robin greets.
"Hello Nami, Robin." He gives them a smile.
"How was work?" You ask the two women, giving them both a smile.
"I spilled coffee on my favorite blouse." Nami sighs.
"It was fun, how was your day?" Robin hums.
"That's no good about your blouse." You say frowning at Nami's statement. "And my day was good."
"I see that, finally together?" Nami giggles.
"Such a cute couple." Robin comments. You smile at that, giving them a small nod.
"Mhmm."
"Oh Robin, did you find anything?" Sabo asks.
"Well... I looked through the old man's journal for tips, I found something rather disturbing." She frowns lightly. You blink in confusion looking between the two and sit up.
"Wait what are you guys talking about? I didn't know she was looking for anything for you guys." He blinks at you while Robin giggles.
"She's a mage too, I thought you knew?" Sabo says confused.
"Whaaat?" Nami gasps. You shake your head looking at Robin wide-eyed.
"I had no idea..."
"Really? Not even with the map?" Sabo comments.
"No. Not that I ever saw..." You frown slightly. "What color represents you?" You question the woman, looking over at her.
"Lavender I believe it was." She hums.
"Ah, I thought that was the map whenever I saw it," Nami mutters.
"Same. I guess it's because you are normally where we are so it never occurred to me that it was you."
"I see..." She hums in amusement.
"Anyway, what did you find?" Sabo asks.
"Apparently near the end of the war, they began experimenting on mages in hopes of finding a way to counter their magic... However, I believe they must've found a way to unlock magic..." She sighs lightly, "Then the journal just became ramblings after that, nothing useful."
"That is a problem. The question is, just what did they unlock." Sabo frowns, looking down in thought. You frown, squeezing Sabo's hand slightly.
"I'm sure we'll figure it out."
"Either way, this just supports the trap theory I had in that dead area... Maybe the hunter will leave if we lower our profile more..." He sighs.
"We can't lower it more. Besides, he's here for revenge." Robin points out.
".... Anyone else feel like they need a drink?" Nami frowns
"Mhmm." You hum, nodding slightly. "You guys wanna go get some?"
"Yeah, let's go to the bar." Sabo hums thoughtfully.
"That sounds good." You say, standing from the couch and stretching slightly. Sabo gets up as well, hugging you from behind as the other two go to change. Giggling, you tilt your head to kiss Sabo's cheek softly. "Wanna see if any of the other guys wanna join us?"
"I'll text them." He decides, resting his chin on your shoulder to message them. You lean your cheek against his with a small smile.
"I'm sure Luffy would, Law probably not."
"He surprises me sometimes, plus he's been stuck around Kid all day." He chuckles lightly. Robin and Nami soon come from their rooms.
"Ready to go?" Nami asks lightly.
"Yeah. Sabo was just checking to see if any of the other guys wanted to go." You hum.
"If they do, they'll show up," Sabo says, moving his phone back to his pocket before taking your hand as you both follow your roommates out.
"So wait...Robin, did you know where the map was this morning when I was freaking out about it?" You question the woman with a slight frown.
"No, I was as surprised as you." She assures.
"Law's such a rogue..." Sabo sighs.
"Creepy." You huff, with a slight shiver. "Sneaking in my room in the middle of the night." Sabo pauses.
"I'll scold him later... But can I do that?" He half jokes.
"What sneak into my room?" You giggle, shaking your head. "No need to sneak in, you're more than welcome."
"... That's really tempting," He blushes lightly, looking ahead. Nami and Robin exchange a look at that. You laugh at his reaction, squeezing his hand. The four of you reach the bar, going over to a booth and sitting down.
"I want the same thing from the other night." You hum, leaning against Sabo slightly.
Trisha Sabo grins at that, ordering yours and his drinks while Nami and Robin order theirs along with food for the table.
"Ah, I haven't eaten all day, so hungry." Nami pouts.
"The food shouldn't take long here." Robin assures.
"Was work that busy for you today?" You ask Nami, tilting your head a little.
"Yeah it's been very busy, that's why I've been snacking so much... I'm going to get pudgy..." She grumbles.
"I don't think so." Luffy chimes plopping down beside her.
"If anyone is going to get chubby, it should be the bottomless pit." Law huffs, sitting on the other side of Sabo.
"Oh, you look fine." You tell Nami with a small smile. Looking over at the two who had joined you, you give a wave. "Nice to see you guys!"
"Hey ___!" Luffy grins while Law waves before ordering a drink.
"How was your day Luffy?" You question, leaning against Sabo again.
"Boring since you stole Sabo." He chuckles, "So I went to see Kid but he's really grumpy right now."
"Is that right?" You hum, resting your chin on your hand. "I would probably be grumpy too if I had to sit around all day and not do anything after getting hurt."
"Yeah me too I guess." He grins. Law grumbles at that, drinking his drink once everything is brought over.
The group ate and drank together, everyone conversing amongst themselves quietly. Law was the first to leave saying he needed to work on something. Nami and Robin were the next to stand, Luffy standing with them and offering to walk the two women home. They both agree, giving you and Sabo a wave as they leave. You and Sabo stay for a little while longer, wanting to stay together for a bit. It wasn't until the bartender shooed the two of you out to close the bar that you decided to leave. The walk home was nice, you smiling up at the stars as Sabo led you home. When you reach the door, you pull Sabo into a kiss, smiling happily.
"I wish we could spend a bit more time together. But you need sleep." He hums when you both break away. He smiles a soft smile, brushing the hair from your face. You lean against his fingers, looking up at him.
"Well, then why don't you stay the night?" He blinks at that, blush rising to his cheeks again.
"... Pardon?" He breathes in surprise.
"Stay with me." You tell him, taking his hand and pulling him closer. "That way we can spend more time together, and we can sleep."
"S-Sure." He manages with a shy smile that was just too damn cute.
"Good." You hum, unlocking the door and pulling him inside. The house was dark, making you believe that Nami and Robin had already gone to bed. You lead Sabo to your room, pushing the door open and shutting it quietly behind you, turning around to smile at Sabo. "I have to change really fast, but I'll be right back okay?" You tell him grabbing a set of PJs to change into before giving him a kiss on the cheek. Quietly, you go to the bathroom, brushing your teeth and changing quickly before going back to your room. He had stripped down too, now in his boxers and t-shirt, looking around curiously at your room with a small smile. You watch him for a few seconds before walking over to him and wrapping your arms around him. "Come on, let's get some sleep." He smiles and lays down with you, holding you warmly.
"Goodnight Beautiful, sweet dreams, and I love you." He murmurs softly.
"Goodnight Sabo, sweet dreams, and I love you too." You hum, nuzzling your face into his chest.
