A/N
This is based off of a show from the mid 90s my dad and I are watching. Basically a college age genius, his girlfriend, his professor, and a singer who got caught in the portal by mistake (I literally can't pick a favorite between the latter two, they're both such moods) travel from dimension to dimension in an attempt to get back home, but only getting to ever so slightly different earth's each time. I.e. what if the Soviets won the Cold War and America became a Communist nation or what if intelligence was treated like being a pro sports star (Like images of Einstein promoting Nike's). It's hella good and satisfies my love for alternative dimensions.
So, yes, the first thing I thought of is "Oh? So they're traveling the Multiverse?" It uses a lot of Marvel logic like Einstein Rosen Bridges and such.
Anyways, for our purposes, this isn't in 418 or 419. Totally random Multiverse that's basically 418, but not.

"Alright, Stark, what is it this time?" Olivia asked as she and Loki entered the lab, utterly bored. Excitedly, Tony directed them over to a large machine in the back corner.
"I've created a device that can send objects to other dimensions." He explained with enthusiasm.
"So a metal Bifrost?" Loki asked.
"It uses the same principles, but it's not traveling from here to like, Asgard. It's traveling from Earth to another Earth. Where everything is basically the same, but not."
"I don't know about this. Wherever we are is where we're meant to be. Why would we go get involved in someone else's mess? And besides, there are millions of theoretical dimensions. How could we get back here?" Olivia asked. Tony held up a device that looked like a large flip phone.
"This. We can go from dimension to dimension by plugging in a random number."
"So a device to harness the Multiverse." Loki said in a deadpan tone.
"Multiverse?"
"The Multiverse is a legend we've been told for years. An astral plane where every single dimension connects and is observed by the mythical Watchers. These Watchers work in tandem with the Time Variance Authority, who monitor the dimensions and try to keep them from collapsing in upon themselves. Basically dimension jumping police. They've evolved over thousands of years with the Multiverse." Olivia explained.
"Which, if the legends are true, means they'd absolutely disapprove of us trying to break away from our own dimension." Loki added.
"Re-lax. We'll visit maybe three dimensions for a few minutes or so each and then come back here, just to be safe. Just so you remember, I did some wiring and elimination processes, which led me to see that we currently sit in Dimension 488. You both give me one random number that starts with 4."
Rolling their eyes and sighing, Loki and Olivia gave in. Could be fun, right?
"Dimension Four-Three-Two." Olivia suggested.
"I'll pick... Dimension Four-One-Two." Loki decided.
"For the sake of a high number that doesn't end in two, I'll pick Dimension Four-Seven-Four." Tony said. "I guess we'll start with 432."
He started pressing a few buttons and twisting a dial on his device. After a second, a blue portal opened in the middle of the lab.
"What the hell is going on in here?" Natasha's voice emerged from the doorway just as the trio slid through the portal. "GUYS, WAIT-"
Natasha jumped through after them just as the portal shut.

"Incoming!" Tony yelped. The portal had opened in the sky facing a solid roof. Tony hit the ground first, followed by Olivia, Loki, then Natasha on top. They all groaned in pain as Tony struggled to get free from the mass of three people on him. He wiggled out of the pile as Natasha pushed herself to her feet.
"Did you know it would be this painful?" Nat asked.
"Nope." Tony groaned. "But I suppose no matter the dimension, you two can't get your hands off of each other." He gestured to Loki and Olivia, struggling to get to their feet because of tripping over each other and falling back on top of each other.
"Stark, shut up for once and help." Olivia snapped.
"No way, this is hilarious."
Loki eventually got to his feet and pulled Olivia to hers, red on her cheeks.
"So where are we?" Nat asked.
"Looks like Stark Towers." Tony said, pointing to the large "A" on the side.
"Didn't we move to the compound?" Loki asked.
"We did. Different dimensions."
"So what's different about this one?" Nat asked.
"Dunno. Let's go in." Tony said, walking to the door on the upper deck to head downstairs.
"Are you crazy? Our doubles could see us!" Olivia hissed.
"You're right. Loki, can you make us look like business people, but not like us?"
Loki rolled his eyes, but nodded. He cast a green illusion over him, Nat, and Tony (Olivia could handle herself). They all wore suits, and looked nothing like they usually did, from Olivia's curly blonde hair to Tony's clean shave.
"Alright. Let's go in." Tony said, putting in the pin for the door. It swung open and they descended down a few flights of stairs.
"So far, everything seems almost normal." Nat said.
"Too normal..." Tony said.
An intern rushed down the hall straight towards them.
"Are you here for the team assessments?" The kid asked.
"Come again?" Loki asked.
"Assessing the Avengers. Psych tests?" He asked.
"Oh, uh... Yes!" Tony said.
"Great! You'll be meeting with Miss Friggadottir first." The kid said, passing them a paper of names before running off.
"Miss who?" Olivia asked.
"I... Maybe it's you? Seems like the only logical option." Loki suggested.
"But that doesn't make sense?" Olivia said, looking at the paper. "Every other name is normal... Except-"
"'Aemonson, Loki?'" Tony asked.
"Aemon was my father's name." Olivia said.
"You two switched places in time!" Nat said.
"What does it say about us?" Loki asked. Olivia scanned the paper and paled.
"The switch really goes deep. It says I was adopted." She whispered.
"Ha! So are you the resident Smurf in this dimension?" Tony laughed.
"Looks like it. So does that mean... I attacked New York?" Olivia squeaked.
"I guess so." Loki said, going behind her and comfortingly putting his hands on her shoulders.
"Other me better have nicknamed you Elsa or something is really wrong." Tony guffawed. Loki growled at him before pulling him into a corner and punching him in the face. "What the hell??"
"Can you not see she's upset? No, you don't because you never see anyone's emotions except to exploit them." Loki snarled.
"Woah, hey, that's not true!"
"Isn't it?"
"Both of you stop it!" Olivia snapped. "Loki, this isn't even our dimension, so it doesn't matter what the other versions of us are. And Stark, stressful situations shouldn't elicit jokes. We only have a few minutes left before we go to the next dimension. So stop fighting for Frigga's sake!"
The two men looked at her, then back at each other, before letting each other go.
"I don't know how I've been able to tolerate you for all these years." Loki said.
"Feeling's mutual." Tony replied.
"You guys barely do. We have to replace the windows almost every other week." Nat piped up.
"Excuse me, are you the ones who are going to be assessing the Avengers?" Olivia suddenly asked. The three of them turned to face her speaking with two SHIELD agents in business attire.
"Yes, ma'am." The one on the left said.
"Great. You'll be seeing Miss Friggadottir first." She said, passing the papers that had been handed to her earlier to the two agents.
"Thank you." The same agent replied, taking the papers and they went about their way.
"What was that?" Tony asked.
"Uh, we're not assessing the team, first of all, second of all, we're about to shift dimensions, so we couldn't anyways even if we wanted to." Olivia said. "Idiot." She added under her breath.
"Alright, yeah, okay."
"Speaking of dimension shifting, we should go." Nat said.
"Yep. Here, we can open the portal in this corner." Tony pulled out the device and pressed a few buttons. The blue wormhole opened as the illusions over them melted off. They passed through the portal quickly so no one could investigate.

The portal opened and the four of them crashed right through a roof.
"Ugh, why do the portals have to open so far off the ground?" Nat asked.
"No idea, but this is the most ghetto house I have ever laid eyes on." Tony said. "Looks like no one's lived here for a while. Dust, broken furniture..."
"Possible Nuclear Fallout?"
"Doubt it, everything would probably be either decimated or highly radioactive, which would cause the remote to go crazy. It's not, so I think we just landed in someone's old back alley house."
"Uh, guys?" Olivia asked.
"What?"
"This looks like the same general area as Time's Square... Just without the large buildings."
"That can't be right. Time's Square isn't a trash alley." Nat said.
"I'm also certain there shouldn't be Chitauri soldiers on the streets." Loki said. Confused, everyone poked their heads out the window in the late afternoon light. Sure enough, the ugly aliens from the invasion in 2012 were walking down the streets with weapons in hand and in precice marching formations.
"Oh, that's not good." Olivia said. "Why would they be here?"
"Duh. Obviously the Avengers failed in 2012. Which means that this idiot probably won." Tony said, aggressively poking Loki in the shoulder. Somehow, Loki went even paler than his normal shade.
"So what does that mean for me?" Olivia asked.
"Shrodinger's Cat. That time when we were on the cliff. There's a 50% chance you stayed with the Avengers, and a 50% chance you went with me. Question is... What did you pick?" Loki said.
"Great. Earth's turned into Magical Reindeer Dream Land." Tony said sarcastically. "And obviously the way that this place looks like a shit heap means that you suck at your job."
"So what do we do?" Nat asked.
"We go outside." Loki said.
"Are you insane?"
"Do you have any better ideas?"
"...No."
Cautiously, Olivia cracked open the old door and stepped outside first.
"It even smells like shit." She reported, wrinkling her nose. "I really hope we don't meet our doubles. That'd make everything worse."
The rest of them crept slowly out of the house and into the dingy streets.
"I don't see many people." Nat said.
"Is there some sort of curfew or general fear?" Tony asked.
At the end of the street, they spotted a group of three people. A woman, and two teenage boys. They looked dressed in rags or old clothes. Possibly a mixture of both.
Nat and Tony walked a little ahead of Loki and Olivia, who gripped Loki's arm like a life raft. Whatever their other selves had done frightened her. The woman probably saw movement from the corner of her eye, because she turned her head to look at them. Olivia could hear her fearful squeak as the woman froze in fear. The boys, probably her sons, took note of what their mother had done and followed her gaze. Their eyes widened in alarm, also stopping in their tracks. Olivia swallowed thickly as they met the woman and boys.
With weak legs, the frightened trio got to their knees and crossed their arms over their chests. An Asgardian sign of respect to royalty.
"Deepest apologies, your Majesties, we didn't know you would be here." The woman stammered.
Majesties. Plural. Dammit, why did my alternative self have to have the worst resolve and morals? Olivia thought bitterly to herself. Loki also probably had no idea what to say, so he just cleared his throat.
"All... Is forgiven? What were you doing here?" Loki phrased the first bit like a question to Olivia's mild annoyance. They didn't need unnecessary suspicion.
"W-we were just on our way to the scrap yard, my king."
"For what purpose?"
"To find some extra clothes. My husband is sick with the flu and we need to keep him warm. We can't afford medicines or healers."
Loki carefully considered his reply.
"Then go. Quickly out of our sight so my poor Queen can rest her tired feet."
"Yes, of course. Thank you for your mercy. Come along, boys." The woman briskly grabbed her sons hands and scurried away around the corner.
"My god this economy is trash." Tony said "You two really suck at your jobs."
"Something tells me based on her mercy comment that you've probably smited people for less." Nat said.
"Possible. Now, we're here for an hour, keep a low profile. If I know, well, us, if anyone knew there were two versions of us, we'd assume it's an imposter possibly set on an assassination plan." Loki said.
"So, where to, my king?" Olivia asked with heavy sarcasm.
"Shush." Loki hissed, blooming with red on his cheeks.
"Yeah, we don't wanna hear Loki's turn ons in the bedroom," Tony said, smirking. Olivia kicked him in the shin, hard. "Hey! Jesus... Alright, I don't wanna spend anymore time here than we need to. I say we swap dimensions."
"I agree." Natasha said, glancing over her shoulder as a small shack collapsed in on itself. Loki and Olivia both nodded as Tony activated the remote, opening a portal so the four of them could slip through undetected.

For the third time, a portal opened up to spit the four Avengers out. Luckily for them, this one opened on the side of a building. Each of them landed on their feet.
"Okay, so we've had Swaped Loki and Olivia and Tyrant Loki and Olivia. What's next? Olivia in love with Thor?" Tony asked. Loki went red with anger at the mere idea.
"Stark, we're all a little on edge. Maybe don't do anything to upset anyone." Nat suggested.
"Fine, yeah, okay."
"And much like the last universe, the air seems to be in a colored haze. Look at how greenish everything looks." Loki said, gesturing to the partially cloudy sky that did indeed look like a green haze.
"Okay, now I'm betting on a nuclear fallout." Tony said.
"I don't think so. We may not be reigning over this world, but Hydra sure is." Olivia said, picking up a felled poster that had come off of the building wall. On it was the Hydra octopus in the background in front of Hydra soldiers.
"Great, so clearly either SHIELD fell completely or it goes back further and Red Skull suceeded in World War 2." Tony said.
"I'm betting on the former. Based on this, the takeover seems more recent than 70 years ago."
"Hey, you four!" A voice snapped at them. The Four Avengers turned around to see a man covered in military gear, complete with a helmet and visor. "Where are your IDs?"
"IDs?" Tony asked.
"Yes, IDs. You can't be without it." The soldier got a closer look at the four. "Wait... Oh, forgive me, Commander Romanoff, I didn't recognize you."
Natasha gulped almost silently before coming up with a reply.
"You should be sorry, you... Insolent pig." She said.
"But why are you in a SHIELD suit?"
"Recon mission. There've been rumors of a SHIELD rebellion simmering, so I was sent to check it out."
"Understood. We can't have any talks of rebellion. And you brought Mr. Stark as well. I suppose a good spy always has their tech specialist on hand. Though... I'm drawing a blank on those two."
The soldier gestured to Olivia and Loki, both standing rigidly and neither daring to say a word.
"Well, are you familiar with Thor Odinson?" Olivia piped up.
"The Asgardian bloke? Never returned after SHIELD fell. No one really cares. All that technology his brother left behind after New York was plenty."
"Like the scepter?"
"Most importantly the scepter. It's given us the ability to experiment on so many people, create so many Mutants. A girl with stretchy limbs, a man with teleportation powers... The possibilities are limitless."
"Well... You're welcome?" Loki said.
"Welcome, what-" The soldier cut himself off as he finally processed Loki's face. "Holy Hydra..."
"The Asgardian prince and his wife were sent down to check on the state of our world. They've been... Pleased with the results." Natasha lied.
"Tha-That's good!" The soldier stammered. "It's-"
"Yes, yes, it's an honor. If you don't mind, we have places to be." Olivia sighed.
"Yes, miss. Commander Romanoff, Director Fitz will be expecting you once you get back to base." The soldier said.
"I look forward to it." Nat said, the soldier slipping away. Everyone let out a collective sigh of relief.
"That was lucky." Olivia said.
"Yeah, and I think ten minutes in the four one two dimension was enough to blow your superiority complex out the window." Tony snarked.
"We didn't even-"
"May I ask that we cut our little adventure short and go home?" Loki asked.
"Couldn't agree more." Tony said, pressing a few buttons and opening the blue portal. All four of them hastily slid through.

"Never again." Tony said once they had all come through the portal into the lab.
"And now you know why the dimensional boundaries exist." Loki said.
"You can cut the I-told-you-sos."
"Not gonna stop me." Nat said.
Olivia snatched the shifting device out of Tony's hands and blasted it apart with her magic, sending plastic and metal chunks all over the lab.
"Hey, I spent a long time on that!" Tony said.
"You said never again. Besides, that was way too much power for one man to hold. You're done." Olivia said.
"Fair enough."
