💜✨ Sleepover

I couldn't find the original interview video, but this is inspired by the bit at about 2:07 in the video above.

~Asgard, Hundreds of Years Prior (physically about 6-7 years old)~

"Hey, lookit what I drew!" Olivia said as she held up her sheet of parchment so Loki could see it. The pair of them were drawing on the floor of one of the lounges. They had ink pots and lay on their stomachs across from each other. With the blue ink she had, Olivia had drawn a crude immitation of a dragon.

(Five minute drawings with Kiera lol)

"I like it!" Loki replied with a grin. "This is mine!" He held his parchment with a few stick figures on it.

Olivia looked at it a little confused. "The big one looks like he's holding a cucumber." She remarked.

"That's an ice club. It's you, me, and Thor fighting a Frost Giant." Loki clarified, pointing to each figure as he specified who each one was.

"So you gave yourself a jousting stick?"

"It's a sword!" Loki defended. "I didn't make fun of yours!"

"Then go ahead." Olivia invited.

"Your dragon looks like a banana. His wings are too small and his arms are too thin. His feet look like marshmallows on sticks."

"Your figure looks like he's holding onto the crossguard."

"Your dragon's tail is too short."

"Your Frost Giant doesn't even look like a Frost Giant."

"Have you actually seen one?" Loki asked.

"I... No." Olivia said, slumping down.

"I win." Loki said, sticking out his tongue at her.

"Fine. It's a nice drawing, by the way." Olivia replied as she collected the art supplies.

"Thanks. Do you wanna show Mama?" Loki asked.

"Yeah!" Olivia said excitedly as she put the supplies on the shelf and grabbed her drawing. The sight of two children running about the palace wasn't atypical, but sometimes it caught the servants off guard. Women with plates and fabric in their arms yelped every now and again when the small figures wove in between them. It was a cute sight, however.

Frigga was in her study when the children burst inside. She turned around in her seat to smile at the pair of them.

"What are you two doing?" She asked.

"We drew pictures, Mama! Do you want to see them?" Loki asked excitedly. Amused, Frigga nodded and went for Olivia's drawing first.

"It's a lovely dragon, darling. I love the banana like shape of it." She said with a playful smile, turning the paper in circles as if observing an expensive piece of artwork.

"Told you so." Loki said to Olivia. She lightly shoved his shoulder as Frigga went for Loki's drawing next.

"And what is this supposed to be?" She asked.

"Me, Thor, and Olivia bravely fighting a Frost Giant." Loki replied proudly. A flash of alarm went through Frigga's eyes, though only for a moment. Neither of the children seemed to take notice. She widened her smile as she pretended to expertly observe the drawing.

"Well, I'm sure it will be an easy fight with that squash you gave the Giant." Frigga said, her smile playful.

"It's a primitive club, Mama!" Loki protested.

"Either way, someone will think it's a vegetable." Olivia replied with a smirk. Loki huffed and folded his arms with a pout.

"Do you mind if I keep these? I would like to find a place to display them." Frigga said.

"Really?" Olivia asked excitedly.

"Of course! Such artwork needs to be seen." Frigga replied.

"Thanks, Mama!" Loki said as he and Olivia ran back out of the room.

"I wonder if the Lords and Ladies will see our drawings?" Olivia asked.

"That would be-" Loki started, before Olivia cut him off.

"Hey, where are they going?" Olivia asked. She pointed in front of them to see five equally as small figures walking together in a group with blankets and pillows. Looking at each other, Olivia and Loki looked at each other uncertainly before following.

Upon closer inspection, the five figures were Thor, Sif, Fandral, Volstagg, and Hogun. Each of them had night necessities and were talking with each other excitedly.

"Sif, what's going on?" Olivia asked.

"We're having a sleepover." Sif replied absentmindedly before going back to the conversation.

"A sleepover? That sounds fun!" Olivia said.

"Just let us get our things!" Loki said as he and Olivia excitedly went to their rooms to gather blankets and pillows. They went back to the hall where they had found the group. No one was there, however. "Oh... They've already gone."

"Well that doesn't seem fair." Olivia pointed out. "Let's ask Thor."

"Olivia, if they don't want us-" Loki started to protest.

"Nuh uh, we're not going to be pushovers." Olivia said as she walked in the direction of Thor's room, Loki lagging behind a little. Once she found the door, she knocked on it with her small fist. After a moment, Thor opened the door with side glances behind him.

"Oh, hello there, sister!" Thor greeted with an almost insincere brightness.

"Why did you leave us behind?" Olivia asked immediately. Thor opened his mouth, thought for a moment, then shut it. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her inside his room, leaving Loki in the hall. "Thor, you're being mean!"

"Sister, you and I both know Loki can be... A bit of a... Spoil sport because he never wants to do what we want. And sometimes he can be a bit of a... Bother." Thor said. Olivia's eyes widened.

"How can you say that?" She asked in a bit of a loud voice.

"We both know it's true."

"Like that one time when we were playing together and he snuck into the kitchens. He didn't share the chocolate he took with anyone." Sif added.

"So? You can go get your own." Olivia defended.

"Or the last time when we were having a sleepover we were playing a game and he refused to play." Volstagg added.

"That's just because you-"

"Or when he-" Thor started, but Olivia cut him off.

"I can't believe you can be so mean. You forced Loki into being the bad guy again during that game." She argued. "It gets old."

"You still had fun while we played it." Thor pointed out.

"For three minutes." Olivia muttered.

"Loki's dragging you down. You might have had more fun if you didn't care as much." Sif said.

"Perhaps the lady would like to join us for tonight?" Fandral asked, mocking a bow.

"Yeah, come on, you can join in tonight. I'd feel better with another girl in here." Sif said. Olivia scrunched her nose and swung her pillow into Fandral's face, knocking him down.

"You would have asked me earlier if you wanted me to join in. You're only asking me now as an afterthought. In fact, you all can go kiss a bilgesnipe's butt." Olivia said with a slight snarl. Before anyone could reply, she picked up her things and stomped out of the room. Loki had apparently been listening in through the door because he looked like a kicked puppy.

"Thor thinks I'm a spoil sport?" He asked.

"Who cares what he thinks? We don't need them." Olivia said.

"If Mama heard you say what you said, you might get in big trouble." Loki said.

"I've heard worse. I only know that because I heard some of the guards on their off duty hours having a flyting a while back." Olivia said shrugging.

"But Mama-" Loki started.

"I would what?" A soft voice said behind them. They turned around to see Frigga with her hands on her hips. "Why are you outside Thor's room?"

"He's having a sleepover and he didn't want me there." Loki said, lowering his head.

"Well that doesn't seem fair. I'll talk to him." Frigga said, going for the door.

"No! I'll just dampen the mood." Loki said, blocking her path.

"They really don't want him there." Olivia said. Frigga pursed her lips in thought. She looked at the two children before smiling. She bent down to their level.

"Alright. The three of us can have a sleepover in my room. I bet it will be better than what they're doing in there." Frigga said playfully.

"Really?" Loki asked.

"Of course. We'll have fun and I'll speak with Thor later." Frigga said, standing up.

"What will we do?" Olivia asked excitedly.

"We can make a fort made of pillows and blankets, have foods in bed, and tell stories." Frigga said. Olivia and Loki shared an excited look as they followed her to her chambers.

"That sounds fun!" Loki replied.

"Good. Then you can tell your brother about all the fun you had tomorrow." Frigga said with a smile. "By the way, Olivia, what exactly did you say to Thor and his friends?"

Olivia blushed red with embarrassment.

"I told them to kiss a bilgesnipe's butt... And I hit Fandral in the face with a pillow." She muttered. To her and Loki's surprise, she laughed. "You're not mad?"

"No. It's rather funny actually. But don't go saying it needlessly." Frigga replied. "Oh, you are your mother's daughter."

"How so?"

"Your mother had a very thin filter. She'd swear like a sailor all the time. Iri was also a champion at flyting. She made some of the soldiers cry for Mother with her skills." Frigga said, recalling the memory. "Sometimes, she even made the insults rhyme."

"Can you tell us about some of those times?" Olivia asked as they went into Frigga's room.

"After we set everything up, I'll tell you both. But don't repeat what you heard here, children of your age shouldn't go around saying the things she said." Frigga said with an amused glint in her eyes.

"We promise." Loki said.

"Good. Now sneak into the kitchen to find some food while I set up the foundation for the fort." Frigga said, pulling a spare blanket from her closet. Olivia and Loki nodded rapidly as they went in search of the kitchens.

Fyi, a flyting is basically a Viking rap battle. An insult battle, to put it simply.
