🖤✨🎶 Her Voice

Am I bored? Yes. Have I not written in at least a week? Yes.

Idk what multiverse this is. It might not even be one of my core 10.

~Asgard, Hundreds of Years Prior (physically 16-17)~

The palace was quiet and most of the hallways were illuminated by torches. Most everyone was asleep except for the guards.

In his room, Loki shifted slightly in his bed, about half asleep. It was really late, he knew, but his mind was racing with various thoughts.

It was easy to admit it to himself, somehow he had known for a long time. But the difference between knowing he was hopelessly in love with Olivia and actually telling her was a huge jump. Did she feel the same way or did she see him like a brother? He prayed to the Norns that the latter wasn't the case. Maybe his subconscious knew she treated Thor differently than she treated him. Despite all odds, Loki never had seen her as a sister.

Ah-ah-ah-ah

What was that? Some sort of echo? No... It almost sounded like... Singing? But why at this hour? And who?

Must be the wind. Loki thought, attempting to fall asleep.

Ah-ah-ah-ah

There it was again. This time, Loki sat up in his bed and looked around his room. He couldn't place an exact location of where it seemed to come from. It seemed so far away, yet so close.

Ah-ah-ah-ah

This time, it sounded far closer, but Loki still had no idea where it was coming from. He got out of bed and slowly exited his room. He glanced around and started walking about.

"I can hear you." He whispered.

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Again. It seemed... To come from his right? Was he going crazy?

It's not a voice... It's just a ringing in my ear. Loki thought, about to turn back to his room.

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Was the noise going to bother him all night? It better not. Loki and Olivia had practice the next day.

Ah-ah-ah-ah

"Does this voice want anything? Am I going to make some big mistake?" Loki whispered to himself. He decided to continue to go right, follow it. It was probably just an open window anyways. He should probably close it.

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Left now. Was it actually a window? The more Loki thought about it, the more he started to think it was definitely someone singing. Who and why was the question.

Are you someone who maybe is like me? He thought. Did his magic have something to do with this?

Ah-ah-ah-ah

"Can you show me where you are?" Loki asked into the nothingness.

Ah-ah-ah-ah

Uncertainly, Loki cleared his throat. "Ah-ah-ah-ah?" He replied.

Ah-ah-ah-ah

"Ah-ah-ah-ah." The voice was seemingly closer, yet distant.

Ah-ah-ah-ah

"Ah-ah-ah-ah."

The mystery voice and Loki's voice met in perfect sync right in front of Olivia's door. Was she the voice? Cautiously, Loki poked his head into her room.

She was asleep, snoring softly. He smiled calmly at her. She looked so peaceful... So beautiful... Oh, if Thor or his idiot friends ever found out how smitten Loki was, he'd never hear the end of it. The mere thought made Loki's cheeks warm. Would they tell Olivia? What if she approached him about it? What if she loved him back?

Loki allowed his mind to wander for a bit. He shut Olivia's door as he sat against it, burying his face in his hand. The uncertainty was driving him insane. Hearing voices that led to her room but obviously didn't belong to her. Fantasizing about staring into her honey brown eyes that seemed to glisten slightly green in the right light. About cupping her round face in his thin hand. About leaning in and brushing his long and pointed nose against her slightly large, semi hooked nose... About kissing her on the lips. The lips that weren't too thin, but not overly plump. The lips that were neither pale or bright red, no, they were a perfect dusty rose color. The lips that were chapped sometimes, but Loki could only imagine how soft they could possibly be...

It's just a fantasy. You don't know if she loves you back. Just... Just go back to bed. Loki thought to himself, standing back up and running his fingers through his bed-mussed hair.

As soon as Loki got back to his room and back into bed, he shut his eyes and sighed. The voice didn't come back that night.

***

That night. The voice didn't come back that night. But the next night, it did. And the night after that. And after that. For a whole week, Loki was woken up by the voice singing the same four notes. Each night, he followed it around. And each night, it always led back to Olivia's door. And each night, she was always fast asleep. It was like a weird time-loop.

Loki's dreams started to be affected as well. One night, it was Olivia standing right in front of Loki. She had the blue flower he had gifted her all those years ago behind her ear, open faced and almost glowing. All Olivia had said was "I love you more than you'll ever know" with a bright smile on her face. Then, they simply danced. Danced in an otherwise empty ballroom with no music, just each other.

Another night, they were sat in a white room with golden light, nothing in the room otherwise. Loki felt sad, like he had done something wrong. Olivia opened her arms for him to cry into her shoulder. She had a bittersweet, but loving smile on her face as she rubbed his back soothingly. Loki still didn't know why he felt guilty, but apparently it didn't matter to Olivia.

Yet another night Loki dreamt of a dark place. Rubble was everywhere with blue, red, and purple lights seemed to light everything up. He and Olivia both had wounds on their bodies as they hid behind a large pile of mechanical debris. He kissed her forehead as he said something that sounded muffled. He smiled sadly at her before he walked away from her, probably to some sort of doom. A fate Olivia was trying to dissuade him from, but Loki had no idea what it would be.

Loki had had just about enough of losing sleep over his probably one sided pining. He would get to the bottom of this before he woke up for yet another time. He figured maybe hunting during the day would save the night headache. Plus, he might be in a more active state of mind.

Not long before his lessons with Olivia, Loki ambled through the halls of the palace. Deciding to experiment, around Olivia's hallway, he took a breath.

"Ah-ah-ah-ah." He called, albeit a little uncertain. He paused for a moment, hoping to hear a response. For a while, it was quiet. About to move on, Loki turned to walk away.

"Ah-ah-ah-ah." Came a response. A female voice. Just like the voice at night. Loki perked up, eager that he found something. He started to tremble slightly. He might finally figure this out. There was definetly something, or maybe someone there. It sounded somewhat close. He turned a corner and tried to follow some faint trail.

"Ah-ah-ah-ah." Loki tried again.

"Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah." This time, the voice sang five notes. Something new. It sounded... Suspiciously close to the training room. He made a beeline for it, turning a few corners and looking up and down each one.

Once he finally arrived inside, Loki glanced around. It seemed otherwise empty. At least, until he turned to face the other door.

There stood Olivia, looking also a little confused. They made eye contact and approached each other.

"Were you that voice?" Olivia asked.

"I was going to ask you the same thing. I've been hearing a voice at night all week that leads to your room each night. You're always asleep, though." Loki replied.

"I've been hearing a voice in my dreams that sounds just like yours. I usually reply with the same tune in my dream."

"You were singing in your sleep, that has to be it."

"That's insane."

"Is it really? People sleep-talk and sleep-walk."

"I... I suppose it's not all that crazy. But why are we linked like this?" Olivia looked like she was thinking hard. Loki's heart seemed to beat in his throat. Olivia looked back up at him, her cheeks a bit red. It was almost a new expression in her eyes. Almost because... Because Loki had imagined her with that expression a few times... Innocent love.

"Are you alright?" Loki asked her.

"You're the one... The one I've..." Olivia struggled to get the words out as she loosely took his hand.

"The one I've been waiting for all of my life." Loki finished for her, an almost equally love-sick expression on his bright pink face.

"Exactly..." Olivia took a pause. "Loki, I... I lo... I think I..."

"I love you." Loki finished again. "I've loved you my whole life. You're the first thing I think of in the morning and the last thing I think of in the eve. I was scared you didn't feel the same way, but... But I think someone wanted us to be together. The voice, our dreams... You're the smartest, most beautiful woman in the Nine Realms and you're the love of my life. Whatever that voice was, I'm glad it existed because it led us to each other. I can't imagine living another minute of my life without you." Loki just sort of poured out his feelings with no filter. Once he started, he couldn't stop.

Olivia looked at him with a slightly shocked expression... And yet... Yet there was love in her eyes. So much love. Her eyes were slightly wet with tears as she smiled.

"Ah-ah-ah-ah." She whispered in a singing voice as she stepped closer to Loki. He smiled back.

"Ah-ah-ah-ah." He repeated in an equally as soft voice. They were only mere inches apart now. Olivia lightly lay a hand on the back of Loki's neck as he gently cupped her face with his hand.

"Ah-ah-ah-ah." They whispered at the exact same time. Finally, Loki leaned down and pressed his lips to Olivia's, shutting his eyes as she melted into it.

It was even better than Loki had hoped it would be. Olivia's lips were softer than he had ever imagined. He didn't want to pull away. Rather, Loki wanted to stay exactly like that for the rest of time. He lightly stroked Olivia's cheek with his thumb as she pulled him ever closer.

Eventually, the need for air became too great and they had to pull apart, but not too far away. Their noses still touched as they stared into each other's eyes. Loki's bright green eyes with flecks of blue ice in them. Olivia's light honey brown eyes with a green undertone.

"I love you more than you'll ever know." Olivia whispered, finally putting together a full sentence and breaking the silence. Loki grinned as he kissed her again, ignoring the world around them.

Just the two of them with not a care in the world except for each other.
