🖤💧✨ Flawed Memories
Truth be told, when Olivia asked Loki what his nightmare was all those years ago when Ultron was the imminent threat, he only half lied.
He had had nightmares in the past about that day in the vault, but that wasn't really what Wanda had made him see. When Olivia had asked, Loki didn't really want to tell her because it seemed a lot more... Out there than what he told her. He came to pretty quickly after the nightmare started, so he didn't see all that much. Except one night, this night, when he and Olivia were asleep in their shared bed.
Because of history, Loki was often plagued with horrible nightmares every so often. He told Olivia about most of them, sure, but that didn't make them stop.
One night he dreamt he was forced to watch her public execution for an unknown reason. He had to be held back kicking and screaming by guards to not intervene. Loki hated thinking about that one.
Another night, his mother cast him out back to Jotunheim with no way back. No one was around as he slowly withered away. Frigga would never do that in a hundred lifetimes, but it was still disturbing.
There were others. Several others, but this one was particularly terrifying because Loki knew deep inside how the storyline of the dream got to that point. And it wasn't good in any way.
The scenes were slightly blurred, but Loki knew the locations. He knew the players. He knew the situations. He knew because he lived through them.
It started in the now collapsed SHIELD facility. A blue portal opened on a platform in the expansive room. In Loki's memory, the figure that emerged was supposed to he him. Instead, a woman was there. It was Olivia with a completely new outfit:
She had the scepter in her hand, to Loki's horror. She blasted everything around her, practically mirroring exactly what Loki had done in this scenario.
She sat in the back of the truck as she absconded with the Tesseract in the case.
The scene shifted to a grandiose ballroom. People in fancy outfits talking amongst each other. Olivia appeared on the balcony above, the scepter hidden as a charm on a gold necklace. It matched with the Midgardian looking dress she wore:
It was the Stuttgart Gala. Instead of smacking the host with a disguised scepter like Loki had, Olivia crept up behind him and squeezed the back of his neck, knocking him out. She pulled out the eye scanner to the horror of the guests, forcing them to flee.
She made the exact same speech he had standing on the dais as the crowd got to their knees for her. Her outfit only slightly changed from her first one, similar to Loki in this instance:
Even in the situation, Loki couldn't help but be a bit amused at the dragon wings on her headband. The old German man stood up to her before Steve came in to save him. She fought against him before standing down, the movements almost identical to his.
That's when Thor made his grand entrance. Loki found himself trailing behind him as they hit the Quinjet. Olivia looked shocked to see them as Loki carefully pulled her out of her seat. They crashed onto the cliff nearby, Olivia standing up pretty quickly after impact. What words they exchanged were muffled, but Loki could only focus on her eyes, now a bright blue.
Thor was knocked away as Olivia took Loki's hand excitedly, smiling. Loki could only make out a few words that she said by reading her lips.
"You... Me... Happy... Together..."
Ah. Right. Convincing him to come with her. Just like Loki had asked her to so long ago. Before Loki could even answer, the scene shifted again.
The cell on the Helicarrier. Olivia sat inside the glass container as Loki sat on a chair outside of it. Again, it was the same exchange, but the roles were reversed. The moment of doubt in Olivia's eyes before she snidely sent him away dejected.
Barely a moment later, Natasha came in. She went through her whole schpiel about her past and red ledger. When Olivia approached and started threattening Nat, they were close to the same height. Yet, Olivia still seemed to tower over her.
More images flashed by.
Coulson's apparent death.
Escaping in the jet.
Confronting Stark at the Tower.
"Let's do a headcount. Your brother in law of sorts, a demi-god, a Super Soldier, a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend. A man with breathtaking anger management issues, a couple of master assassins, your godly boyfriend, and you, little witch. You've managed to piss off every single one of them."
Loki knew how the rest of the conversation would play out even if he couldn't hear the rest of it. Olivia threw him out the window before his suit knocked her down going after him.
The portal opening. Aliens flooding out.
Olivia stood alone on the platform watching it all. Thor and Loki approached her before she started attacking them by herself. She used the butt end of the scepter to knock Thor out. Loki tried to wrestle it out of her grip before she tripped over Thor's unconcious body. Her grip loosened as she flung herself over the edge to catch a chariot. Not thinking twice, Loki dropped the scepter to the ground to go after her just as Thor started to stir awake.
Finding his own chariot, he tried to follow her but soon lost her in the fray. Landing, he found the rest of the team gathering together at the base of the Tower. Stark blasted the Leviathan as they went for cover. They circled up before forming a plan. Loki's job was to find Olivia and herd her back over to the Tower.
He blinked and suddenly Loki was following her as Clint loosed an arrow that she caught just before it exploded, knocking Olivia down.
Loki wasn't able to look away as the Hulk beat her senseless like a rag doll. Once she was released, Loki went for her and started to heal her wounds. The rest of the team surrounder her as Olivia pulled herself to a sitting position.
Again, Loki blinked and they were in Central Park. He and Thor were collecting the Tesseract as Olivia stood close by in chains and with a muzzle over her mouth.
Just as the Tesseract took them away, Loki shot awake, sitting up straight. It wasn't 2012. Olivia was right next to him asleep.
Loki felt a cold sweat roll down the back of his neck as he breathed heavily.
The noise he was making and his sudden movements roused Olivia awake, groggy and confused.
"Loki? Are you alright?" She asked sleepily.
"I... Yes, I'm fine." Loki replied.
"Another nightmare?" Olivia asked, sitting up. Loki contemplated his answer before nodding shortly. Olivia curled up close to him, wrapping her arms comfortingly around him.
"Do you want to talk about it?" She asked. Loki looked down at Olivia. The concern in her features for his well-being was hard to ignore. One of the many reasons he had fallen in love with her. Her kindness for other's well being. He smiled as he began to stroke her bed mussed hair. Loki then remembered exactly what had happened in the dream and the smile melted away.
"Okay... It's not exactly the most... Conventional of nightmares and it's kind of out there, but..." Loki started.
"It's okay. Just tell me." Olivia replied.
Loki took a breath before he began.
