💜✨Close Call
A/N
Hey, guess what? I'm not dead! I know, it's been just shy of a month, but I just got busy and took my Thanksgiving break as an R&R time.
Anyways, I found this absolutely heartbreaking comic the other day, and while it's too long to post here (other than the one page), the chapter itself will cover it and other things I come up with.

Asgard, Hundreds of Years Prior (age varies)
"Loki, we have lessons!" Olivia called, knocking on his bedroom door. "Then Frigga wants us to think about something fun to do for my 300th (like, 7) birthday."
"I-I'll be out in a second." Loki replied hastily. Olivia swayed back and forth impatiently on the balls of her feet. Frigga didn't like it when they were too late for lessons. Loki's door cracked open and he came out quickly, shutting the door. Olivia raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Why do you have a scarf around your mouth?" She asked.
"My teeth." Loki admitted, tugging it down and opened his mouth. "They turned pointed overnight. I don't know what's wrong."
"Maybe Frigga will know." Olivia took his hand and pulled him to the training room where Frigga was waiting for them. She had the spellbooks out and assorted objects around the room on podiums.
"Good morning, darlings!" She said brightly. "Today we're going to start on the levitation spell- Loki, what's wrong? Do you have a sore throat?"
"No, Mother." Loki replied, pulling the scarf down again to show her. "It's my teeth. They're pointy like fangs. It happened overnight; I woke up like this."
Frigga bent down to look at her son's teeth carefully. She pursed her lips and looked like she was thinking.
"Do you know what's wrong?" Olivia asked.
"It looks so strange, different from everyone else's." Loki added. Frigga bit her lip before smiling.
"It's not strange." She said.
"But Thor's teeth weren't pointy. Neither are mine." Olivia said.
"But mine were." Frigga said. "It's a recessive gene that your baby teeth can turn pointed right before they start fall out. Your big teeth might be the same way unless you perform a very special spell when the tooth falls out."
"Is it difficult to learn?" Loki asked, worried about his adult teeth being the same way.
"Difficult enough that I'll have to perform it. But first you have to do is leave the tooth under your pillow at night. I'll take it from there. You have to tell me when your teeth fall out, otherwise it won't work."
Loki and Olivia seemed to accept the explanation. Loki took off the scarf and wrapped it around his neck as it normally would be worn. Then, Olivia thought of something.
"Frigga, don't Giants have pointy teeth like that?" She asked.
Frigga's breath caught, but only for a moment. She thought again for a minute.
"Well, everyone is descended from Ymir, you remember? And Ymir was himself a Giant. It's a recessive gene because some people aren't as evolved as others. That's not a bad thing, it just happens. Like how the mortals have Wisdom Teeth. They don't use them as their ancestors did, so now they're just a nuisance. Don't worry, it's nothing to worry about. In fact, a lot of Loki's features can be explained by genetics. Odin's hair used to be dark when he was younger, so that's where that comes from. Your eyes aren't blue, but the green is another recessive gene that comes from my mother. You're a lot like me, Loki. You may not be as large or strong as your father and brother, but your wit outweighs everything. That will be your most important weapon as you grow up."
Again, Loki and Olivia seemed to accept this explanation. They nodded like they understood.
Frigga hated lying to the children, but she couldn't to much else. Odin had been very strong in his stance that Loki was not to know where he came from or who he was. Frigga had tried to argue that it would only cause problems later, but Odin was insistent. It was so he would never feel different from anyone else.
So when the situation arose, she would lie. She knew it would only work for so long. After all, Olivia had immediately remembered the aspect of a Giant's tooth physiology, and she was still very young. As Loki grew up, it would be harder to lie off the cuff.
Still, Frigga had to try.

Snowfall didn't come to Asgard very often. It was very beautiful when it did, however. The treetops would be covered in a thin blanket of white while the rivers and waterfalls would freeze into translucent crystals. It really made the gold of Asgard stand out, especially on the spires of the palace. Olivia frankly prefered it when there was complete cloud cover. It kept the snow from blinding her with the sun's rays.
She had her warmer clothes on and was set to frolic and play outside.
"Loki, come on! We rarely get snow!" Olivia pressed.
"I'm coming!" Loki called back, shoving a warm hat on his head and running for the doors.
"Where are you going?" Frigga asked, intercepting the two 500 year old children (11 years).
"Outside. Snow is rare and we wanna have fun." Olivia said.
"Okay, just not for too long. Your fingers freeze fast, Loki." Frigga said. It was of course in reference to the time that Loki had forgotten his gloves and his fingertips turned a very light shade of blue after only about ten minutes outside. That was the last time snow had fallen and Frigga hadn't forgotten it. She rushed the boy inside and placed him in front of the fire with blankets despite Loki protesting that he wasn't cold and wanted to keep playing outside. Olivia had only stayed outside because Thor and his friends goaded her into a snowball fight now that the teams would be even.
She only played one round before going back inside to warm up next to Loki.
"Okay, Mother." Loki agreed as he and Olivia ran outside to the courtyard covered in a thick blanket of snow. "What should we do first?"
"What if we made a snow giant?" Olivia offered.
"A Snowtun!" Loki said, coming up with the name. Olivia giggled as she collected a mass of snow and started to roll it around to form a larger ball. Once it came up to about her chest, Loki started to heft the middle portion on top. Olivia helped him, pushing the mid section to stand upright. Loki rolled the head as Olivia collected twigs and stones. Once the head was pushed to it's highest point, the main base was about a foot taller than Olivia. She stuck the twigs in the sides for arms as Loki started pressing stones into it's face to form an ugly expression. Olivia took the last twig and a scoop of snow to stick the twig to one of the arms as if it were holding onto a sword.
"What should we name him?" Olivia asked as she and Loki stepped back from their work to admire it's hideousness.
"Thor." Loki offered, laughing.
"Hey, that's an insult to the snowtun!" Olivia protested with a laugh. "What if we named him something like Erik?"
"But that's so basic!"
"Do you have a better idea?"
"Not really, but-"
"Then his name is Erik."
"No! What if his name was like, Edmure or something?"
"But I actually like the name Edmure. Not for a snowtun as ugly as ours."
"Hey, he's not ugly! He's just different."
"Fine. Let's name it Loki, then." Olivia goaded. "Loki the Snow Jotun." Fed up, Loki formed a snowball and hurled it at Olivia's face, hitting her square in the nose. "You son of a Frost Giant!"
"Just try and hit me back." Loki challenged, standing perfectly still with his arms stuck out to his side's. Olivia smirked and formed her own snowball. She tossed it and it hit Loki's cheek. "Hey!"
"You told me to try and hit you, don't get mad at me." Olivia defended, folding her arms.
"Yeah, and I didn't think you'd actually hit me. Your aim is awful."
"That's it!"
Olivia lunged and tackled Loki to the snowy ground with a snarl. They rolled around in the snow, kicking and screaming at each other.
Frigga came running outside as soon as she heard the first scream. She saw the two children fighting and ran to break it up.
"Children, please! This isn't how we resolve our problems." She said, pulling Loki off of Olivia.
"He said my aim was bad!"
"She didn't like my ideas!"
"Your ideas stank!"
"She called me a Snow Jotun and a son of a Frost Giant!"
"Children, please!" Frigga snapped at the arguing children. "Loki, you shouldn't insult someone's abilities and you need to be more open about other people's ideas. Olivia, the same goes for you, and we shouldn't insult people like that."
Especially not like that. Frigga thought to herself. Olivia didn't realize how close she actually was with what she had called Loki. She had meant it in an insulting manner... But what would happen when Loki figured out it was more than that?
"I want you both to apologize to each other and then come inside to warm up. Your fingers are already blue, Loki." Frigga added.
"But I'm not cold!" Loki protested.
"Your fingers say otherwise. Now, Olivia, do you have something to say?"
Olivia sighed. "I'm sorry for saying your ideas were bad and insulting you, I didn't mean to do it, how could I have been so foolish?"
"Good enough. Now Loki?"
"I'm sorry for saying your ideas were bad and your bad aim was bad."
"Loki..."
"Sorry. I'm sorry for insulting your aim."
"Better. Now come inside and sit by the fire." Frigga said, taking both children by the hands and leading them inside.

There were other times, so many other times. Really, both Loki and Olivia knew they probably should have realized it sooner. Even sitting by the fire, Loki always had cold hands. Every time they kissed, his lips were always a bit cold. Frigga never had pointy teeth, there was no evidence anyone had ever had green eyes on either her or Odin's side. All lies.
And yet, as time went on, Loki was bothered by it less and less. It still hurt, sure, but he was still loved regardless.
A thin blanket of snow had covered the ground in New York, the moon out in the sky. It reflected nicely on the falling snowflakes that Olivia took special notice of as she looked out the window of her and Loki's room.
"Hey, Loki?" She asked.
"Yes?" Loki replied, looking up from his book. Olivia smiled.
"Do you want to build a Snowtun?"
