The Beginning of a Race
The Makers were very busy experimenting, analysing, programming and calculating the formulas for the improved Energon. This time, they took care in executing the experiment. They got the new idea of mixing more of the bluish substance and work more with the chemical compound of the fuel...
"We're running low on fuel," Galactus said looking at a screen on the fuel tank. It glowed red and a bunch of random symbols showed that the Makers obviously understood.
"Wha... Now?"
"Seriously?"
"When we have the answer?"
They were all upset about this because to them it was a waste of time. They were also pretty surprised considering the fact that their fuel tank was incredibly large.
"Well, I guess that means we should probably go harvest a star somewhere," Galactia stated while putting her hands on her hips.
"I'm pretty sure I've seen the perfect star somewhere in the Andromeda Galaxy," Galactron said.
"Does it support heat and light to any planet with life on it?" Galactica asked. The Makers had one rule when it came to harvesting stars: never destroy a star that supports a planet with any kind of life. They were very strict when it came to this kind of thing.
"Nope," Galactus answered for Galactron, "I just checked now."
"Looks like we're taking a trip to the Andromeda Galaxy then."
"Thankfully, it's close by."
"Our ship should get there ok."
"Computer, set a course for the Andromeda Galaxy, sector 79."
With that, they were off to another part of the universe.
The Makers made it to the Galaxy after a few hours. During that time, they tried to perfect the formula for the new Energon samples. Their ship stopped a few hundred miles from the star. The Makers went to their positions to start the process of harvesting the star's energy. Galactia went to the Light Extraction Room and sat on a futuristic chair with a lot of levers, buttons and screens (sort of like those simulation things that are in Black Panther but more futuristic), Galactron went to the control room and took his place at the hovering chair and grabbed the steering wheel that seemed to be connected to nothing, Galactica went to another room called the Energy Concentration Room and positioned herself at a computer with a bunch of buttons and dials and she put on goggles or to be more specific, her goggles liquidised into a solid from nowhere over her eyes, and Galactus was also in the Energy Concentration Room but his place was at this chair that looked exactly like the chair Galactia sat on but with only four levers and one control panel in front of him.
"Stand by while I get this thing into position," Galactron said. He spoke not exactly into a device but the device in his ear caught what he said and the rest of them heard.
"Gotchya. Ok, we just need to go approximately ninety five maxidistances closer to the star," Galactia said while switching and pressing random things.
"Ninety two maxidistances if you're going for a minimum," Galactica said as she vigorously pressed other random buttons.
"Come on! We might as well shoot the beam now since this thing doesn't really have a range," Galactus said anxiously. He really loves firing the extraction beam.
"We need to be close enough to get the energy while it's still fresh."
"We should be getting close enough to fire."
"Ready the aiming systems. Obviously Galactia will absorb the stray light for extra energy and Galactus will..."
"And I will fire the extraction beam! My time to shine."
The Makers arrived at the perfect spot to fire. Galactica pressed buttons and switched some switches, Galactia got into position to extract light and put a helmet on or to be more specific, the helmet appeared the same way Galactica's goggles appeared, Galactron kept the ship steady and occasionally pressed some buttons and turned some dials, and Galactus put his hands on two of the levers just as a helmet appeared on his head. They all waited for few seconds and then Galactus fired the beam. The beam he shot was fired from the side of the ship and it made a large, long white line towards the star. The star was smaller than normal ones, but it was a young star so it had very had a lot of energy. Galactia shot another smaller spiraling blue beam around the white beam and it absorbed more energy. Galactica only had to make sure that they collected enough energy and make sure that the beams were stable, and since everything was fine she went ahead and continued working on the Energon formula. Galactron had the same idea since he wasn't doing much either. A few minutes went by and Galactus and Galactia were still collecting energy, Galactron and Galactica were still busy with the formulas while pressing buttons at the same time. Just then, Galactron and Galactica realized something: "Hey guys! What would happen if we mix the ingredients with the pure energy from the star and immediately crystalize it?
With this being said, Galactia and Galactus pressed a button on their chairs, which apparently activated auto pilot. Why they didn't do that earlier, we will never know. Galactron and Galactica also put on auto pilot and joined the rest of them in the Experiment Room where they took large quantities of substances and put it into a separate fuel tank that they made earlier. It was connected to another machine that was made to crystalize the Energon after it was mixed. They connected that machine and fuel tank to another spot where other tanks were waiting to be filled with processed fuel. The Makers teleported back to their places, except for Galactron he stayed by the machine, and turned auto pilot off. Galactia, Galactus and Galactica pressed buttons and gave various commands to the Computer. After a few seconds of button pushing, the fuel tank, which was rather large, that was connected to the crystalizing machine was beginning to fill up with white, gold, silverish liquid energy. Galactron fiddled with a bunch of dials and the energy mixed with the substances they made. It went through to the crystalizing machine and after a few seconds Galactron pressed some more buttons and the flow of liquid energy stopped. The mix and crystalization was successful.
An hour passed and the energy from the star was depleted, there was nothing left but the faint red glow on the surface. It no longer gave of any heat or light and that's when the Makers turned off the beams. Galactica flicked a switch and a faint whirring sound was heard, which signalled that the ship's fuel was being made and stored in the main fuel tanks.
"Ok then, we don't have to worry about fuel for a while now," Galactica said as the goggles disappeared.
"Since that was a young star, this fuel should last a lot longer," Galactus said while his helmet disappeared.
"So Galactron, how did the new attempt at making Energon go?" Galactia asked while her helmet also disappeared.
"Come see for yourself," Galactron said with awe in his voice. The rest of them came over to the crystalizing machine, which was open now, to see what impressed Galactron so much. Once they saw inside the large machine, they all gave audible 'oos' and 'awes' and their jaws dropped. Inside, there were large beautifully crystalized, bright blue shining Energon crystals. They were so beautiful, so shiny, so... Perfect.
"Computer, start with the collection of the Energon," Galactron said, still in awe.
"Start with the processing and prepare for the infusion," Galactia said, also in awe.
"Also while you're at it, send some more material to the Construction Room," Galactica said while admiring the crystals.
"Let's get started on doing it right this time," Galactus said while staring at the shining crystals. "I think I'm going to keep one for myself."
"Yes, Makers," the Computer replied.
Some time later, the Makers already built the frame structure of the new bot. They made it a bit smaller than the last one and they added a few adjustments, like one: they made sure that the design will be way more better than the last one, and two: they made improvements to the brain to allow more knowledge to be processed better. The Computer obviously did what it was told, the Energon was infused into the bot just when the Makers finished programming the Spark. It took some time, but the Energon infusion was completed and the Makers came together to activate the Spark. They closed their eyes, held hands and thought about the things they love. This time, they were more positive that this project would work. The Spark was activated and put into the bot's chest. There was a zap and a clank, but this time instead of spikes appearing there were actually more promising outcomes. This time, it changed into a smoother and handsomer version of the failed one. It had broad shoulders, its legs changed into a type of bootleg jeans style thing which looked pretty cool, its chest grew giving the impression that muscles were appearing, the fingers on this one was smoother and not pointy, and the best thing for the Makers was that there was no facial hair stuff. Another good thing, instead of the Spark turning purple it turned to an even brighter blue colour, almost a pure kind of colour. When the exoskeleton stopped changing, the Makers took a good look at it. To them it looked very masculine, so they said that it was a male.
"Oh. My. So perfect!" Galactica said while she was getting a good look at him.
"Everything is stable, and according to the information here, he's alive," Galactron said rather happily.
"He. Is. Gorgeous! This is by far the best one we have made so far! Compared to the last one, this one is super mega total awesome!" Galactus said as he was admiring his coolness.
"I have to agree. He is hot! Watch out guys, I could be falling for our creation," Galactia joked.
"Project complete," Computer said. "The project must be named before..."
"Yes yes yes, naming him is something we definitely need to do," Galactus interrupted.
"What are we supposed to name him?" Galactron asked.
"It has to be a really good name, you know," Galactica said.
"Why not name him Primus?" Galactia suggested.
"What?"
"Name him after us?"
"Are you serious?"
"Come on! It's good, we made him just to be clear. Plus I already came up with an abbreviation! Primus
Prime
Robotic
Intelligence
Metamorphosising into
Unique
Subsistences...
It's a work in progress," Galactia said. The others looked at her.
"First of all, why are we making his name an abbreviation?"
"Second, what do you mean metamorphosising? He literally only changed now and I don't think he will change into something else."
"And third, has nothing to do with denying the name, what's wrong with naming him Primus? It makes perfect sense."
The Makers stopped arguing and settled with Primus, the autonomous robotic organism that was made by the Primus siblings AKA the Makers. Just when they decided on the title, Primus started to stir. The Makers detected this and hovered towards him. Primus made an audible noise and his optics were flashing on. The Makers looked at the statistics that were shown in a hologram from their arms, everything was still stable. Primus' optics were processing light and shapes for the first time, he looked around the room as his optics began to focus the imagery. The first things he saw were the Makers, floating around his face. He stared for a second and then, struggling just a bit since it's a first time, he smiled. The Makers smiled back.
"Everything is working just as it should," Galactron said as he glanced at the statistics.
"Energon and Spark are in sync with each other," Galactica said, also looking at the hologram.
"So far so good, now let's see if his enhanced learning ability is working," Galactus said.
"Ok. First: The very worried zenith guardian betrayed his unique cause to protect the universe from junkie extraterrestrials," Galactia said. She gave a simple, silly sentence that had all the letters of their alphabet in so that Primus could process the sounds. Primus stared for a second and then he spoke his first word, "Hi?"
"Ohmygosh! It's actually working!" Galactus freaked out.
"Hello, Primus," Galactron greeted.
"My name is Primus?" He asked.
"Yes, cool name right? Totally my idea," Galactia bragged.
"Your idea? I... Actually it was, but I sided with the idea!" Galactica said.
"Well, any one of us would have come up with it anyway," Galactron said.
"Seriously guys? Do we have to do this right now? We have life that we made watching us!" Galactus intervened. They all stopped trying to argue and looked at Primus with nervous smiles on their faces.
"I am going to assume that you have something to do with my existence, but who are you exactly?" Primus asked innocently.
"Well, you assumed right!"
"We are the beings responsible for your life."
"We are the beings that spent years trying to build you."
"Basically, we're your makers."
Primus gave a nod to show that he understood. This was all very strange for him, but he was starting to get fond of his Makers.
"Sorry for all the confusion, but you are an autonomous robotic organism," Galactia told him.
"Everything is going to be a bit overwhelming, it's part of the computing systems," Galactron added.
"Don't worry though, you should get used to this soon," Galactus assured.
"But first we need you to try and move your limbs," Galactica told Primus.
"Alright. Do you all have to have an equal say in any conversation?" Primus asked out of curiosity.
The Makers glanced at each other then replied in unison, "Yes,"
Primus nodded. The siblings started telling him what he had to do. Extend his right arm, extend his left arm, move his arms to his side, bend his legs, and other stuff.
"Ok then, everything seems good," Galactron said.
"Let's see if you can try and walk," Galactia said and as she said that the table thing that Primus was on lifted and came almost upright. Primus flinched at the movement, but stayed calm.
"Computer, make sure that he doesn't hurt himself," Galactica commanded.
"Alright Primus, take your first step," Galactus said holding out his arms as if he was going to catch Primus if he fell. That would be pretty hard considering that Primus was way bigger than them. Primus put his leg out and stepped on the floor, his arms extended just to get balance. He took another step, more stable than the last one but still a bit shaky. Then he took a few more steps, but this time he was completely stable. The Makers were giving whoops of excitement. Primus smiled and stood upright in front of them.
"Ok. So, what now?" Primus asked.
"Well that's simple…" Galactus said shrugging.
"We are done with all the tests…" Galactia said rather slowly.
"…And you are fully functional. Huh, maybe not that simple." Galactron said realizing that they didn't know what to do now.
"I guess you can go and explore? To be honest, we never thought we would get this far." Galactica admitted.
After some time, they started showing Primus around the ship and showed him all their tech. Primus was a very good "son" to them. After the tour, Primus had his first power down, which was quite new since the Makers assumed that he wouldn't need "sleep".
"Primus is just so sweet," Galactica commented hours later.
"He is, isn't he? This was definitely a success," Galactron stated.
"It's almost like nothing can ruin this..." Galactia started until she was interrupted by Galactron.
"Guys, according to this, Primus is too pure. His energy is too strong, yet he is forever stable. His Spark is also a bit too much on the almost-completely-programmed-for-good side."
"Oh come on!!" Galactus exclaimed.
"Just when we thought that everything thing was perfect... BAM!" Galactica said.
"You know what? Let's just keep him this way and we'll just lessen the power for future projects," Galactia finished.
They all agreed and none of them made any modifications to Primus. After all, he was perfect, he was awesome, he was... The beginning of a whole new race that the Makers were going to build.

In the ship's archives there was a constant groan-like noise. There were also occasional flashing, purple lights. We go to the "failed" project that the computer named Unicron. Still pretty much the same, only noises and light flashes, and a finger twitched. Wait! A finger twitched?
