'No, no I can't like Emmett not after what he's done' I think to myself, but then I look at him sitting next to me and I can't help myself. He's changed, he's kind and caring and not to mention extremely attractive. His eyes meet mine and I quickly look away as heat rushes to my cheeks.

The rest of dinner is spent with fun conversations of old stories about Emmett and Gabbie some which send Emmett face palming and groaning but he always has a hidden smile when he does so. I find out that Ava is the daughter of one of Emmetts parents best friends. She seems so comfortable with all of them, I can't help the jealousy that burns when she talks or looks at Emmett.

When dinners finished I offer to wash up some dishes and Emmett joins me. We wash the dishes silently for a while till I decide to break it. "So, are you and Ava close then" I ask, I can't help myself. He looks at me and then carries on with washing while he responds "uh yea, most of our friendships been spent over texting and the internet except for the occasional visits" he responds and I nod. "She's very pretty" I say glancing at him. He grins, "Am I suspecting some jealousy?" he says with a smirk and I roll my eyes "no" I say avoiding his gaze.

I suddenly feel his presence behind me, "you know..." he whispers in my ear and a shiver runs through my spine, "you're cute when you're jealous" he whispers and then walks past me out of the room. I stop for a little bit, stunned. I finish washing my last dish and then I exit the kitchen. "It's quite late so I should be heading home but thank you so much for the dinner it was amazing" I say to the mom and she smiles and gives me a hug saying goodbye.

I hug Gabbie goodbye and then I see Ava. "It was so nice meeting you" she says in her bubbly australian accent and she hugs me, I smile and tell her it was nice meeting her too. "I'm just gonna walk Elizabeth home" Emmett announces and I look at him and he grins before joining me at the door. I wave goodbye at everyone one last time and Emmett and I step out into the night. My house is so close to theirs since we're literally neighbors but the fact that he wanted to walk me home kinda made my stomach have butterflies - it was a sweet gesture.

He's the first to speak, "Tonight was fun" he said and I looked at him. He was gorgeous I couldn't deny it, he looked like a Greek God with his defined features and strong jawline, his hair had this effortlessly good look and his eyes, a piercing blue looked like they could tell what you were thinking just by looking at you. "Yes it was" I say with a smile and I look away. "Elizabeth, I want you to know that I'm really grateful you gave me a second chance. I know I was horrible to you in the past and if I could erase all of that I would but I do really like you and I can't wait to get to know you more" he said and my heart flipped every which way like a gymnast on steroids.

We arrived at my house and we stood by the door. "Goodnight Emmett" I said, "Goodnight Lizzy" he responded and turned to walk away. "Emmett wait" I called quickly and he turned around confused. "Yea?" he said and I quickly stood up on my tip toes and placed a small kiss on his cheek. "I can't wait to get to know you more too" I said and his grin widened and I quickly went inside and closed the door with a huge smile on my face.

After I had showered and changed and was about to get into bed my phone dinged.

My blood ran cold, who is this! I didn't know what to do, whoever this was had to of heard what I said to Emmett. I sat on my bed staring at my window for a solid ten minutes before I lay down. I debated calling Gabbie but I didn't want to worry her, but I was so scared. My phone beeped again and I stared at is and like it was a bomb about to go off I cautiously picked it up and looked at the message.

Emmett🌵: sweet dreams cutie x

There it was again, that butterfly feeling. I felt safe just seeing that message, I fell asleep with words that Emmett said tonight replaying in my head.
