"Will you have a happy ending or will everything end drastically?"

"It's a long story, but yeah... Jungkook and I are married."

"I... did not expect that." He chuckled again in disbelief, and I couldn't help but laugh too.

"This whole thing has been pretty insane. dad. But I would go through it a hundred times over if it meant saving you again." I took his hand and added, "Dad, I am sorry I was not there to protect you. But now, we need to get you someplace safe. After all of this, you need to lie low."

"I know that, Eun Jeong... But I don't want you wasting your life looking after this old man. You deserve to have your own life and for someone to finally take care of you! All your life you have been trained to serve the family and I was a fool because I let it happen. But your life should be more than this. I should be filled with love and life instead of violence and crime." He embraced me one more time and added. "All I want is for you to be happy, Eun Jeong."

"Thanks, dad."

Gently, he pulled away and sways for a moment on his feet. "Dad? Are you okay?"

"I am feeling a little sick. I need to lie down."

You were looking at us from afar. You quickly came to my father's side. "Okay, I think you need to rest, Mr. Park. Come on."

Carefully, you helped my father lie in the backseat and made sure he was comfortable. He quickly fell asleep, and you glanced over at me. "Why did you not go to the airport?"

"Because Chul Woo got the jump on me and John! He knew who I am and said your dad knows too." Your eyes widened and I continued before you could reply. "He wanted me to marry you because he figured you would get my assets once I was dead. So yeah, I am sorry I did not follow your plan. But I could not leave you behind. I know you wanted me to be safe but all I could think about was whether you were safe."

"Oh, Piccola. It was a shitshow, I understand that. I just wish it had not been." I sighed and you took my hand to kiss it softly. "Let's give your dad a moment to sleep and take a walk to the shore."

"Sure."

I followed you out of the car and you took my hand as we approached the shore of the lake.

The reflection of the two of us in our wedding attire shimmered in the moonlight.

"So... How would you like the reception, Piccola?"

"I really wanted to throw the bouquet. But I guess your dad being ready to kill me kind of got in the way of that."

My cheekiness made you scoff, and you shook your head. "I could always scrounge up some wildflowers and you can throw them at me."

"Now, where is the fun in that?"

We both smiled at each other, and again came that feeling, where despite the darkness and the danger, I felt some sense of sweet normalcy.

I leaned my head on your shoulder as you gazed over the surface of the lake. "I really don't want to ruin the mood, because I am really, really, really liking this, but what are you going to do, Jungkook? Your dad still doesn't know you did any of this. You can return home and act oblivious."

"Not if Chang ratted me out to my dad. We approached him together, remember?"

"I think your dad won't truth Chang."

"I can't take a chance on that. It is too risky to go back now."

I sighed, worried, blaming myself for where I had brought you.

You drew me into a warm hug, and I sank into your strong chest, seeking comfort. "I had some hope you could go back... I mean, if your dad doesn't know about any of this, you would be safe... but you are not."

You cupped my cheeks and your eyes filled with warm affection. My heart skipped a beat. "I would never go back even if I could. Because after all of this... I am never leaving you, Eun Jeong. I will make sure John and Jun are safe and then... I am going to take you away from all of this and we are going to start our lives fresh."

"Wait... you really want to run away with me? What about legitimizing the business?"

"That doesn't matter to me anymore, Piccola. What matters to me is only you. I want us to have the lives we deserve. Would you want that, Mrs. Jeon? For us to just go wherever we want?"

Your tone was playful, and your eyes were full of affection. Warmth filled my chest as I sank into your embrace. With the moonlight shining down upon us, the moment turned into a magical one.

I cupped your cheeks and met your gaze. My heart started to beat faster as we both bathed in the shimmering moonlight.

Standing opposite each other in our marriage attire, it almost made it all feel like a second ceremony. A more personal, intimate one.

"Okay, first things first, Jungkook. We make sure Yu Jun, John and my dad are somewhere safe. Maybe find some sunny islands for them, pretty sure they deserve it after all of this." You bit into your bottom lip, a sweet smile playing on your lips. "And then, once we know they are okay... We can go wherever we want."

"I can start making the preparations. We can get it all done in two days flat."

"That quick?"

"I would never want to keep my wife waiting."

Warmth flooded my chest at your words, coupled with an excitement I never felt before.

Is this what being happy feels like?

With your hand on my waist, you pulled me into a passionate kiss, sliding your other hand in my hair and wrapping your fingers around my locks.

I drowned in the taste of your lips and softly moaned as you rubbed your tongue against mine.

Silence settled between us two. Crickets chirped in the distance. Then suddenly, you turned your head. Your eyes widened as you caught sight of something.

"Sniper!" You exclaimed.

It all happened in a blink of an eye. A red dot whizzed across my chest, but before the sniper pulled the trigger... You leaped in front of me. The bullet stroked you through the chest and blood splattered over my wedding dress.

"JUNGKOOK!"

You fell to the ground, and I lunged to help you, but I was suddenly grabbed by my waist from the side.

Five cars came speeding down towards the lake as my father desperately pulled me back to your car.

"Jungkook! Jungkook!"

"We need to go, Eun Jeong! NOW!"

"No! No! NO, DAD!"

My pulse spiked as fear overtook me. I struggled against my father, but found myself growing weaker as I did so.

By the time you pushed me into the backseat of the car, my world had gone fuzzy. My head spun as the car started up.

"JUNGKOOK!"

And then everything went black.
