17 | Opening Up

Insight into the chapter

"When he starts to open up, you can't help but worry. But when you both start to dream of the same thing, you can't help but be happy. Will this happiness last long or will something drastic happen the next second?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I, ah... I know your father a little better than you might realize."
"What do you mean, Jungkook?"
"Actually, up until he went missing, Don Nam Gil was trying to get me out of this business. He is a good man, all things considered. Good men don't survive long in this line of work."
"You and my dad... You worked together? Did you turn him over to your father?"
You shifted uncomfortably, crossing your arms as you spoke, "No, and I don't know who it was that turned your father over to my father. I wish I knew though. I would put a bullet in that person's head."
"Alright... I trust you. How did you two meet?"
"We were doing an information trade. Met up at a bar, got to talking... Well, your dad can read people pretty well. He knew I was not happy with the work. We kind of came to an understanding. He was going to help me start over, but then he went missing and... Well, you know the rest."
God... that sounds exactly like the kind of thing that Dad would do...
"I believe you, Jungkook. But why was he helping you get out of the business? What will you do if you are not a mafia?"
You nodded your head slowly avoiding eye contact. Your face was expressionless and unreadable, but your whole body seemed tense.
"I am going to make my family business legitimate. I am not quite sure how yet, but once I get out of the illegal sh*t, I get to choose my own path."
I lay my head on your shoulder, thoughts roiled as I considered everything.
He wants Dad... Because he can get him out of this life. Maybe we could just be normal people... together.
"We are going to find your dad, Eun Jeong. I promise. And when we do, he will help me make my family business legit."
"About my dad... Is he okay? I just need to know if he is alive."
You smiled wanly as you took hold of my hand. "He is alive. My father still needs him to break into the common fund. As long as he can hold out, he will stay alive. But he might be in a rough shape when we find him."
"Then hopefully we can find him soon."
"There is not much we can do for your father right now, but there is something."
"What do you mean?"
"Even though I don't know where he is being held right now, I know someone trustworthy on his guard detail. I could possibly get a message to your dad. He could at least know you are coming for him."
I glanced down at my feet, mind racing at the possibilities. Even though I have been sitting on the edge of my bed, my heart was pounding.
I need Dad to know that I am okay... and that I am coming for him. I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to be locked up in a cage somewhere. If he hears something from me, it could help him stay strong.
"Jungkook, do it. Send a message to my dad."
You took out your phone, unlocking it and preparing to take my dictation.
"Okay, whenever you are ready, Eun Jeong."
Hopefully, this is not the last message I send to Dad. I need to make this matter.
Sucking in a breath sharply between my teeth, I focused my thoughts into a cohesive coherent message.
"Okay, tell him... I have been following every lead imaginable. I am safe, and he does not need to worry about me. "
You nodded as you typed out my message.
"Tell him that we are going to crack this thing wide open, and we are going to expose Don Chan Yeol."
"Alright... So far, so good. Do you, ah... want to tell him about... us? I mean... that we are working together, obviously."
"Right. Tell him that we are working together."
"Right..." as you continued to type out the message, I paused a moment to think.
I don't want to make this thing too long. I will just keep it short and to the point.
"Okay, and lastly, I am going to put a bullet in the person that took him and anyone else who gets in my way."
"That's good, Piccola. Keep that fire going. We will need that, before everything is said and done. Anything else?"
"No, that is it. Anything too long would be risky."
"Got it."
You finished the message, showed it to me to read over, then sent it to your underling.
"And now... all we can do is wait."
"Thank you, Jungkook."
As I considered everything, my phone buzzed in my jacket's pocket. I pulled it out and saw a text notification from Uncle Chang on the screen.
"Sorry, I have to answer this."
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, he is just a family friend."
"He?" you said with a smile, but your eyes showed slight jealousy.
"Don't worry, Jungkook. He is like my uncle."
"Oh... Okay. I was not worried though."
"Yeah, yeah."
Embarrassed, you cupped my face and gave me a peck on my lips. You pulled away but then pulled me back again into a soft kiss. I pulled away reluctantly and said, "Jungkook, I really need to reply to this text. If you keep on doing this, then I don't think I will be able to reply to him before tomorrow morning."
"Okay. Sorry."
Wondering what Uncle Chang has to say, I hastily unlocked my phone and read over his message.
"Hey, kiddo. Just checking in. Where are you?" he asked.
Nothing about Dad? Just my location? That is a little weird.
"What, no 'good morning?'" I asked.
"Cut the b*llsh*t, Kid. I am just looking out for you."
What the hell? He has never talked to me like that before.
"I will ask again: Where are you?"
"I am at my apartment."
As I looked at the texts, something was not sitting right in my stomach.
"Are you by yourself?" he asked.
Yeah, this is definitely a little weird.
"Don't worry about who I am with. I will be fine, Uncle Chang."
"Right... Stay in touch. I need to know where you are, okay?"
"Okay."
Something is wrong. I am not sure what it is though.
As I locked my phone and slid it back into my pocket, you stood, nodding toward the door.
"We should get out of here, Piccola. It is going to be a bit until we hear back from my contact about your dad. It might be a good thing to have a distraction in the meantime. And I don't know about you, but I could do with going somewhere to unwind for a bit."
"Somewhere to unwind? I would much rather wind you up a bit."
You laughed, that familiar aura of confidence surrounded you.
"Oh, we will make time for that. But first, let's just go have some fun for a bit."
"Alright... Unwinding time it is then. It is a big city though. Where do you want to go?"
You rubbed your chin thoughtfully, glancing out the window at the city skyline in the distance. You grabbed your car keys and headed to the door, giving me a wink.
"Come on, Eun Jeong. It will be a surprise."
"I am not sure how I am feeling about surprises lately, but alright... let's go."
Taking my hand, you led me down to your car. Starting the engine, you raced down the city streets, and before too long, you parked by Navy Pier.
Leaving your car behind, we walked hand-in-hand through the throngs of tourists going in and out of the pier's shops and restaurants.
"Well, here we are!" you exclaimed.
"Navy Pier, huh? I would never have expected you to like someplace so... touristy. Plus, with all these people around us, and even if we don't completely blend in, then we at least have some cover."
You nodded; eyes wandered out over the waters of Lake Michigan.
"Exactly. We get to know our day out, completely safe and undetected. It's a Win-win."
You wrapped your arm around my waist, our bodies were pressed tightly together. You gave me a wry smile.
"There is kind of another reason I wanted to come out here. My mom... she used to bring me here on Saturdays. The two of us would spend the day together. We would walk around; she would buy me ice cream. Those were good times. After my nightmare last night, I kind of just wanted to come out here. It feels I am close to her again, you know?"
"About the nightmares... Do you get them often?"
You heaved a sigh as we continued walking, passing by a group of tourists.
"Not as often as I used to. But when I do get them, they are pretty bad. Anyway... I just wanted to apologize to you about last night for waking you up and scaring you and all that. The thing is, my mom... she..." you paused, seeing the concern in my eyes. You hastily glanced down at your feet. "Sorry. Nevermind... I feel like I am bringing down the mood."
There is something else about his mother. I just know it... Something he is not telling me. Maybe I can get him to open up a little bit more. Maybe talking about it will help him feel better.
"Jungkook, please tell me more about your mother."
You sighed sadly, stopping to lean against the pier railing. You looked down at your feet for a moment, before bringing your eyes to level with mine.
"Mom was my favorite person in the world. She would take me out all over the city, to parks, movies, you name it. And when Yu Jun was born, Mom still always made time for me."
"She sounds pretty incredible."
"She was. My father never saw her that way though. God... he was so angry with her when Yu Jun was born. I guess he only wanted sons."
"Really? What do you think? Was he right?"
Your expression twisted into an annoyed scowl as you glanced out over the water, shaking your head in frustration.
"Not at all. I think having a daughter is a blessing. I want a lot of daughters. Besides trying to figure out how mom was supposed to have any control over that? I am not surprised that my father would be that shallow, to be honest."
You took my hand, squeezed it lightly, however the faraway look in your eyes remained.
"That's not the only thing that makes him a bad father though, right?" I asked.
"Not even close, Eun Jeong. He used to hit my mom. She would try to cover up the bruises, but I knew what was happening."
"That is horrible. Do you... Do you plan to get even?"
You nodded your head clearing your throat as you shifted uncomfortably.
"One day. I am not sure when, but some day."
"So, what happened to her after all that?"
"She left. I don't know what the final straw was, but one night she came into my room, kissed my forehead, and told me she loved me. I never saw her again."
You glanced around and pointed in a direction with no tourists. "Can we sit down? I know there is a good spot further up that way. I don't really feel like dealing with other people right now."
"Sure."
The two of us walked a little further, taking a seat on a secluded park bench with a good view of the lake.
Putting your arm over my shoulders, you smiled wryly as you looked into my eyes.
"What are you thinking about, Jungkook?"
"I am thinking that when all this is over, I am going to tear my father's empire apart. The whole world is going to see him for the monster that he is and when it is all done, if we succeed, I could have a normal life. A family. You could have that too, you know."
"I think I want that as well. I would love a chance to just be normal."
"We could have that. We could find that... together."
"Together? A normal life with you still sounds pretty incredible to me. But getting there won't be easy though. This is going to be an uphill fight all the way to the end. Your father won't give up his empire easily. Even less so when he figures out that you want us to go legit."
You took a hold of my hand, squeezing it gently for comfort. "We can do this, Eun Jeong. We will burn this whole damn city down together if we have to."
You leaned in kissing my cheek softly. You placed a hand under my chin, easing my face closer to your own, and our lips met in a tender, warm kiss.
As I slowly pulled away from the kiss, you whispered to me softly, "Tell me about the life you want, Piccola. I really want to know."
"I think I would like... Somewhere far away. How do you feel about going to Korea?"
You smiled, your fingers ran down my cheek and followed the curve of my neck. Your touch sent a shiver down my spine.
"Korea? Pretty easy for two people to just disappear. But plenty of things to see and do. I would be on board with that."
"Plenty of little hidden placed in a city like that. A couple could get up to all kinds of mischief there. But in all honesty, the only place I want to be right now is here... with you."
Our arms suddenly entangled around one another, our lips met in frenzied kisses and hands were searching for purchase on each other.
God... we are making out in public like a pair of h**ny teenagers!
You effortlessly pulled me onto your lap, my hips pressed against growing rigidness in your pants.
"You are my sweetie..."
Our souls alighted with desire, I paused to catch my breath and you playfully nibbled at my lower lips as we both breathed heavily.
Your lips met the delicate skin of my neck in flurried desire. I drew a sharp intake of breath as your lips sent an electric tingle against my flesh.
Your kisses turned into gentle nibbling bites, causing goosebumps to form on my skin. I grabbed fistfuls of your shirt reflexively.
You pulled away slightly, panting heavily while our faces were mere inches apart. A hungry grin was on your face.
"I want you so badly, Eun Jeong. I want you right here, right now."
Gripping my hips firmly, you pressed our bodies closer together, your erection pressed tightly against my own eager part. I looked around hurriedly for any onlookers.
"But I think you can feeI that I want you, can't you, Eun Jeong? If we hurry, no one will catch us."
Oh god... I know this is little more public than we would like... But I want him as much as he wants me. Nobody is walking through this section of pier. We could totally have some fun!
"You know what, Jungkook, let's do it... right here, right now."
Grinning from ear to ear, you shifted me ever so slightly, unzipping your pants and pulled out a condom from your wallet to slide it over your member.
"You are all mine, Piccola."
While you pulled my panties aside, you took hold of my hips, lifting me up and easing me down right onto your manhood.
Taking in your stiff length, a jolt of pleasure shot through me as my part eagerly engulfed you.
Moving my hips slowly at first, I grinded against your body, watching in both directions for any surprised onlookers. The danger of discovery only excited me even more.
Your fingers gripped my thighs as I bounced up and down on your shaft a little faster, my part slicked with arousal.
Reaching underneath my shirt, your hands ran up to my breasts, thrusted forward as I grinned against you. Your touch coaxed a sharp intake of breath from me. Your fingers worked toward the center, pinching my n*pp*es and accentuating each grinding motion of our bodies.
"You like that, don't you, babe?"
"Yes!"
Our lips met in frenzied kisses to keep from crying out with delight at your touch and the pounding of your manhood into my aching part.
I pulled away slightly from the kiss as my body approached the threshold, unable to contain the pleasure from the friction of your manhood against my part. My words were a whisper. "I am so close!"
Taking time with strong forceful upward thrusts, my breathing reached a fever pitch, and my stomach tightened with excitement.
With a few more moments of intense grinding, I clamped my lips shut as we both climaxed together. Our bodies shuddered orgasming in unison. After several convulsing motions, we both came to a stop, breathing heavily.
"I don't know about you, but I feel much better, Piccola."
We both chucked huskily as I slowly eased myself up from your lap. You quickly cleaned up, zippered back up, then sat back heavily on the park bench.
"My head is swimming right now."
"Easy there, Eun Jeong. Come back to earth slowly."
As my pulse steadied, a low buzzing sound pierced the air. You opened your mouth as if to speak, then frowned, and began fumbling through your pockets.
"Is everything okay?" I asked.
"I am getting a call. Not many people know my number, so it's probably important."
I hope it is his contact... I imagine Dad could really use my message right now.
You stood up, fishing out your phone and answered the call. "Hello?"
Though I could not make out what you heard on the phone, your expression shifted from concern to wide-eyed shock. You nodded a few times before you finally spoke. "Alright. I am on my way."
You perfunctorily locked the phone, jammed it into your pocket and turned to me, your hand was balled into fists.
"We need to go. Now. Yu Jun is in the hospital!"
"Oh my...!"
