7: Little Y/n
Nah, I'd win.
Side note,
This is probably the closest I'll ever get to an "original art style" and it honestly terrifies me (but doesn't surprise me) that it has taken this route.
I'm just really good at drawing misery I guess. xP

"(Y/N)!" A six year old Tenko waved at you from across the playground. He cupped his hands around his mouth to shout. "WE FOUND A BEE HIVE! COME SEE!"
.

.
...Wh....what? Why is it suddenly so dark?.. Why does your head kind of hurt? Oh. Wait. Your eyes are closed.
You pried your eyes open, staring up at a bland gray ceiling. An industrial ceiling light was a little to the right, blinding you momentarily. You groaned and sat up, rubbing your sore, bruised head. You sat in a hospital bed, or at least something like it. Thin curtains split the room into segments, but by the sound of it, no one else was on the other side.
The door opened suddenly, allowing in an elderly woman you vaguely recognized. "Ah, you woke up a little earlier than expected... Be careful with your head now. You fell out of your chair and may have a minor concussion." You gasped. It was Nurse Joy from the anime!
Frantically, you looked all around, observing everything you could. Yea, the setting matched. This looked like a well equipped nurse's office. Your hands were still small and your voice, judging by your panicky breaths, was the same. So then WHY?! Why are you at UA all of a sudden!?!
"Um... Um..." Overwhelmed, your eyes started to water as you looked at the elderly woman. "Where's Mommy and Daddy??" You whined, starting into a cry. Wait, what, no!? What was going on!? Why were you at a highschool?! Where is everybody!?
"Oh dear... It appears your memories have reverted too.." The woman hummed sadly. She shuffled your way, grabbing something from her pocket. "Calm down, sweetcakes. Here! Have some gummies! I can assure you you are safe here at UA." So this really was UA, then. After you had accepted the handful of treats, she spun back toward the door. "Wait right here! I'll go get someone who can explain this better than me."
"No- I- I'm okay! I want to go with you!" You threw the white sheets off of you, shoved the snack I to your mouth, and jumped off of the bed. Your small frame was dressed in nothing but scrubs. Your head still ached a little bit, but it was alright. Though the old lady argued, you won in the end. The lady gave you some of her spare casual clothes to change into, and you followed closely behind her. The ceiling was so terribly high, the walls so far apart. You never expected UA to be such an intimidating place. You clung to the woman's little doctor's coat with a tight grip.
A blaring ring rung through the halls, startling you. Within seconds, children started flooding out of the massive classroom doors. You crouched to hide behind the nurse. These teenagers were all so big. And they were in such a hurry, you feared they would trample you. The elderly woman smiled softly as she reached back to place an affirming hand on your back. You waited until the herds of students were past.
One large fit of laughter stood out among all the hurried chatter. Some kid with medium length black hair and Present Mic exited the classroom door right in front of you, laughing together. (Uhhh, he was doing announcements in the other class!) "No, that's crazy!" The dark haired one was smiling the brightest. After them came two others. Some tallish brunette and -SPINNER?! "(Y/N)!" The black haired one ran up to you. "Ho-how are you doing?!" He crouched to be at eye level with you, his grin broad and full of light. You stumbled back a step, still unsure who this was. It.. it couldn't be Tenko! You- you just saw him a few minutes ago! In elementary school! A-and he was still small!
"It appears (Y/n)'s memories reverted with her age." The nurse explained. The dark haired one's mouth dropped slightly open.
"Oooh~ ..You still remember me at least, right!? I'm your best friend, Tenko!" Gesturing at himself with both hands on his chest, the teen leaned in close. You leaned back, scanning every detail on his face.
After a few silent seconds, your eyes started to water. "You're so big!" You cried, literally.
Tenko smiled sadly and pat your head. "Awhhh, you're so cute! Was I this cute at your age?!.. Hoku, can you get a tissue for her??" He called to his friend, who swiftly slipped back into the classroom. You didn't cry much, but the tissues he returned with were helpful still. You used them to wipe your face dry and blow your nose. By then, the teenagers and teacher had all crowded around you. You felt a little uncomfortable, now the soul interest of so many eyes. But knowing Tenko was here gave you at least a little bit of comfort. Tenko reached out with both hands and squished your face. "Can we keep her like this??!" There was a mix of responses from the others standing around.
"Mr. Yamada, you were in the classroom when it happened. How did (Y/n), well, change??" Hoku asked.
"I don't know, man!" The teacher jumped back, throwing his hands around wildly. "Nothing strange really happened! She just suddenly went POOF and became that!" He gestured at you, leading everyone to stare down at you again. You stared up at them all stupidly, just as lost as they were.
"Hey, (Y/n), what's the last thing you remember?"
"Uuuuuumm... Oh! You were about to show me a bee hive you found by the playground!"
"Heh, I don't remember that. Any idea what day it was?" You shook your head frantically. You'd given up keeping track of the days ages ago. "Hmmm... Oh wait, I think I remember! That was the day we both got stung!" You gasped. Ouch! "Okay, so she's six years old right now, guys." Tenko told the rest. It was believable enough to the rest of them. Even you nodded along to his logic. "Question now is, um.. what do we do with her?" No one had an answer to that.
The teacher spoke up first. "Well since we have a training exercise we're supposed to be heading off to, how about she tags along for now?! Kapiche?" The others agreed on that as a good shortterm solution. In the meantime, Nurse Joy would inform the rest of the staff about what happened.
Turns out today just so happened to be the day of a pretty big event. Both classes 2A and 2B would be randomly split up into two teams. The game itself was simple. It was essentially capture the flag but with people instead of flags.
It was a little bit overwhelming to step outside on such a hot day and be bombarded with teens from all directions here to oo and awe at your new looks. By the sounds of it, your supposed future self had left a very imposing and standoffish impression on everyone. So I guess all your classmates both present and previous were excited to see you in a cuter, innocent state of being.
After Tenko and company joined everyone with their outdoor uniforms on, the teams were picked out.
Apparently, you were still going to be a player in this game. Though, because of your sudden lack in experience, you automatically became blue team's hostage. On the red team, trying to save you, were Hokusei and Tenko...and a lot of other people you didn't recognize too.
"Does the little lady need to be carried to her post?" Mr. Mic smugly asked.
You shook your head. "I can walk."
"Aaaaaalright then!" He started to lead you away from the others toward the cage. You started to calm down a little more once away from so many people. It was weird. Everyone here knew your name, your personality, and more! But you couldn't recognize a face outside from the characters in the show. "Hurry up, listener! Time is of the essence!" Despite his encouragement, you just couldn't keep up with his stride. And since the man was in a bit of a rush, he bent down and picked you up, carrying you on his hip. He continued to stride forward as you clung onto his jacket. When there were definitely no sounds of the waiting students talking, the young man spoke in an uncharacteristically softer manner. "You doing okay?"
"Mhmm.." Humming. "Can I go home after this? My Mommy and Daddy will know what to do. They always know what to do! My Daddy is super smart, and my Mommy is the nicest Mommy in the world!" You boasted, happy to any time you were given the chance.
The man's grip around you tightened slightly. You looked up at his face. His eyes were set dead ahead, strangely narrow and tense for his character. He mumbled,, "...I'll see what I can do." Uh oh. Did something happen to them? Mic started asking questions about your parents. What they were like, some fun memories with them, and how the three of you got along. It was a little suspicious, since he definitely knew more than he was letting on, but you answered like any six year old would. It seemed the man was most intreated in your relationship to your parents anyway. Nothing deeply personal that would lead to him finding out your dad was a supervillain. All-in-all, it was a cool but unexpected conversation to have with this guy. Hm.. Wonder where Aizawa is! And wasn't Present Mic just an English teacher in the anime?! What was he doing as your homeroom teacher?!
The man set you down once you had reached the cage and led you to it. "Now, little lady, you've played games like tag before, right?!"
You giggled, so excited to actually be playing a part in one of these training exercises. "Yep!"
"Grreat! All you have to do is wait here! Players from the other team will try to rescue you, but don't be scared! Just do as they say and you can pretend to be a captured princess! Ya dig?!"
You nodded enthusiastically. "YEP!" The teacher ruffled your hair and opened the cage door. You skipped right on in and searched the cage for anything interesting to play with.
"Alright! Now just stay right there! The game will begin shortly!" And then he left.
You sat and stood around for quite a few minutes. The cage was a comically large iron box set out in the middle of a small clearing of buildings. All around was fo-city with an excessive amount of pipes everywhere!
It had been a few minutes since the game started and already you were bored out of your mind! You laid on the floor starfish style, staring at the cement block overhead. What quirk did you choose to become a hero with here? Was it one you already had, or had you since obtained a quirk you went into the hero biz with? It was probably safe to use none of your quirks for now. Wasn't like you could just ask someone what your quirk was without coming off as suspicious.
Another explosion from a fight went off in the distance. Hhhh. Why weren't the fights getting any closer to you? You wanted to see everyone's quirks in action! You wanted the excitement of being in the middle of an epic battle! But you were getting none of that here! If only there was a way you could escape this cage on your own.. Oh wait.
You got up and squeezed between the iron bars, slipping out of the cage rather easily. Then, you ran off into the dense city, toward the ruckus a ways away.
Everything here was so close together. So tightly packed. It took a lot of squeezing and climbing to get through one alleyway. You were getting pretty tired and sweaty by the time the sounds of fighting came close. You kept your eyes peeled in search for any of the fighters. Finally, at the edge of a clearing in all this madness of tubes, you spotted a cluster of students duking it out. You laid on your belly atop one of the larger tubes to watch. Some cool girl that could turn into ash was fighting three other students. She was doing pretty well, but once the three started using towels as nets to catch her fragmented pieces of ash, she started losing rather quickly.
Then, a thunderous noise cracked through the sky. A human bullet shot down into the mix of students. A trail of red and white light was all that could be seen as the student zipped between each of the three fighters, freeing up the ash they had caught and wrapping the enemy in their own capturing devices instead. You stared wide-eyed, amazed!
When the three were all tied together and sitting on the ground, the speedy one stopped. He panted profusely, hands on his knees, then he chuckled, wiping sweat from his brow. Wait. TENKO?! How did he get so fast!?!
"Reminston! Our target is on the move! I'll take these guys back to our base! You work on finding her!"
"Right!" The girl then split herself into thousands of little particles, all of which flew into the sky and dispersed to cover a much broader area. Tenko hoisted the three onto his back and launched off of the ground with them. You gasped. Oh yeah. Tenko was on the opposite team! Well, you couldn't just make things easy for these guys. After all, the team you were assigned to had complained about having you on their team, since you in kid form would be no help compared to your future self. You decided to prove them all wrong by being an exceptionally difficult one to catch. You activated Butterfly Touch so that no sounds you made would be registered, then snuck back into the thick city scape. Was this technically breaking the rules? Yeah. Would you, an innocent six year old girl, be punished for it~? Likely not so much. You have to take advantage of what you can in this life.
After running around for a little bit, doing all you could avoid the flakes of dust, eventually one of them landed on you. And though you raced away from the scene as soon as the flake of ash retracted, it wasn't long before members of both teams had you surrounded and were starting to fight over you specifically. This got a little too real. You hid inside one of the larger pipes and curled into a ball, hoping at the very least that no one would hurt each other too much over you. This was supposed to just be a game, after all.
It was a little more than that to the players, though. They were supposed to see you as an actual victim of kidnapping. Both sides in their own eyes were trying to save you from the other team. Made even more intense by the fact that you were now just an innocent little girl, there were very few students taking this lightly. You laid on your side rolled into a snug little ball, waiting for the chaos to be over.
Things started to calm down after a little while. Some students left the fight after assuming you had run away. Others were injured and needed to tend to their wounds. Only two students were really going at it, moreso for personal reasons than anything class related. By the sounds of it, it had something to do with one of the students being caught vaping or something, and the other was worried for them / angry at them for it.
Tonk!
Thick shoes landed on the pipe you were in. "She's in here?" Tenko's voice asked. No audible voice was heard, but he responded anyway. "Okay, thanks!" The teen laid on his belly and poked his head into the tube's entrance. "Found ya!" He smiled. You pried your face from your knees and looked out at the boy with slight worry. He reached in after, waiting for you to grab it. "Didn't Teach tell you not to leave the cage?!"
You mumbled softly, "..I got bored..."
Tenko laughed. "AHAH! Yeah, that sounds like you. Come on! Let's get you to base. Once school's out, we can grab an early dinner together!"
Your stomach growled, audibly to make the old friend giggle. You smiled, "okay.." then reached out and took his hand. He yanked you out of the tube easily and cradled you with one arm.
"Hold on tight!" He warned. You wrapped your arms around his neck just in time before he took off. As Tenny soared through the air, you held on for dear life! He came upon the other team's base with that one jump alone, slowing his descent magically before actually landing.
After his feet were on the ground safely, you whispered a question into his ear. "Did I give you a lot more quirks?" Surely you wouldn't have! That was dangerous, and you knew better!
Tenko chuckled softly. "No no, it's okay. I- I just found a better way to control the quirk you gave me a long time ago!" Liar. But it wasn't like he had the time nor desire to explain everything in great detail right now. His assurance didn't stop you from theorizing, however.
After you reached out to touch an iron bar of the cage, a loud buzzer went off, followed by an announcement.
" 'The Blue Team has won!! Everybody, return to the starting grounds!' "
"Here! Get on my back! I can run us there really fast!"
"Okay!"
Even after regrouping with everyone else, Tenko had no desire to put you down. Though you were far from being used to getting carried around by your childhood friend, you weren't complaining for the free taxi service either, so you allowed the treatment.
You of course were scolded by Present Mic for running off, but it wasn't nearly as badly as some of the other students for being so wreckless or selfish during the match. One kid even broke his arm because of it and had to be rushed to the nurse's office!
After everyone had spent some time reflecting on their mistakes and talking it over with others in their grade, "Aaaaallright, boys and girls! I'd say that's about it for today! Everyone, get dressed and head-on home!"
You sat happily atop Tenko's shoulders, Spinner walking casually beside him. You accidentally called him Spinner a couple times already, so the lizard man was beyond suspicious of you now. But, simply ignoring him gave you the magical ability to avoid explaining yourself!
Everyone except for you were back in their normal UA uniforms now. A cheery bunch, you headed toward the gate, already talking about what you were going to eat. Spinner was considering out loud going to work early. A sight beyond comprehension confused you there at the gate. You rubbed your eyes several times just to be sure you weren't seeing things.
Kai Chisaki and Hawks BOTH stood at the gate, each with their respective accomplices. Chisaki had a mask on, though not the plague mask he was known for having, whereas Hawks pretty much looked exactly the same, except he was lacking in the facial hair department. You grew uneasy as you were marched toward the gate, wondering why two prominent figures from the anime would even be here. Tenko noticed your hesitancy and slowed down a little. He then trained his eyes on the ominous gathering ahead. He squinted. "Hey.. isn't that Hawks?? Crap. And that other one's the Chisaki guy." You could understand Tenko recognizing a hero.. but a villain??
"Who?" Spinner.
Tenko's grip around your ankles tightened. Despite his hesitancy, he actually sped up, hoping to reach these opposing forces quicker so he could tell them to f off faster as well.
Not all went accordingly to Tenko's plan. Once the three of you reached the gate, though your friends tried to squeeze past with you, the man in a suit who had accompanied Hawks and the silver haired man who had accompanied Chisaki both stepped forward to block them off. "F### do you guys want with (Y/n)?"
"I am here under orders of the HPSC to retrieve the girl and keep her out of harm's way." The winged hero answered very formally.
"The moment I heard about what happened, I knew exactly what went wrong. " Chisaki stepped forward as well, "And I'm the only one here with the knowledge and resources to fix it.. So just hand her over." You leaned away from the deranged creep most of all. Forget trying to pretend like you don't know these guys, that villain was a man you did not want to go anywhere near! Tenko must have absorbed some of your fear, because he started to freak out too.
"Hey-um, guys, li-listen! I don't care how well you may know her, (Y/n) doesn't remember any of you right now! She doesn't even know what happened to her parents yet, so can we at least keep that in mind and do our best not to scare her so much?? I'm the only person she recognizes, so I'm not letting her out of my sight until she's back to normal!" This was where Tenko put his foot down; this was the hill he was willing to die on.
Both hero and villain eerily thought to do the same thing at the same time: sticking their hands out in an offering sort of manner. "Come with us, then." "You are free to follow." Both offered. Tenko grimaced and stumbled back a step. Spinner stepped out in front of him. It was clear Chisaki and Hawks had some kind of beef between each other as well. They kept side eyeing/glaring at one another, insisting, as if there truly was something great at stake here, that you go with them and not the other. Obviously, you and Tenny leaned more toward taking up Hawks' offer, but even this young hero was eerily out of character. There was no calm, charming smile; just a set of cold, calculating eyes with their attention placed souly on you. You hid your face in Tenko's hair. It was just too much.
"Ummm, Hawks, why don't we all go wherever this guy wants to take us?" Tenko formulated a plan that might make everyone happy! "That way all of us can be there to see (Y/n) turned back into her normal self."
"You see, that's where we come into conflict." Both Kai and Keigo glared at each other. Meanwhile, you were still trying to figure out what Tenko meant by when he mentioned your parents. Hawks addressed Tenko again. "You see, the HPSC is considering keeping her like this.. for obvious reasons I shouldn't have to explain."
You raised your hand slowly. When the hero looked up at you, "Please explain."
Hawks let out a weak chuckle. "Not right now, Princess~" That nickname both confused you and enraged Chisaki at the same time.
"At least let me advocate for all the reasons why that is a terrible idea." The brunette growled. Hawks waved him off with his wing.
"So I suggest that if you have at least an inkling of a desire to let (Y/n) live a happier life, you'll come with me."
Both men had decent pitches made for why they should be followed more than the other. Though you were a bit more on the fence than Tenko, you agreed with his decision to follow Hawks into their limousine with them.
----------
The three of you: Tenko, Hawks, and you, sat in the back seats together, you in the middle.
Hawks gasped suddenly, tapping your shoulder. "Hey, (Y/n), see that really cool graffiti art?!"
Your eyes broadened, leaning his way. "Where?? I can't see it!"
"Here." Smirking, the elder teen unbuckled you, picked you up, and set you on his lap for a better view. He pointed out the window again at the brick wall covered with the largest piece of graffiti art you had ever seen! Its sheer size alone was something to gawk at.
"Wwooa..." Tenko leaned a lot just to see it, not as impressed as you were. Of course, what was most on his mind was the sly grin adorning the young hero's face. As though he'd just won a great victory, but was still tying to play it cool. This was confirmed when Keigo turned his head, still smiling at Tenko.
"She's so cute!" He whispered.
"Um, I heard you!" You announced your knowing of the truth.
"But it's true, though~!" He cooed while tickling at your side. You giggled and caught his hands, holding them away from your belly impressively well.
"I don't like tickles!" You griped.
"Ah, got it." The blond refrained from messing with you like that anymore. Still did nothing to change you being on his lap, though, which annoyed Tenko for some reason. Wait, he knew the reason. He was petty as always.
Patting his own lap, "Hey, (Y/n)~ Want to sit on my lap~?"
You briefly looked over there, but found nothing of interest. Turning your head back out the window. "No, I can see more on this side." Another win for Keigo. Drats.
You remained oblivious to the miniature custody battle that raged between the two of them.
---------------
You sat uncomfortably on the little chair in the HPSC's principal's office. More heroes had gathered. Not just Hawks. Endeavor was among them... Oh no.. he looked rather pompous. In a tall, imposing stance with his arms crossed, the flame hero glared down at you coldly. You shrunk as much as possible by pulling your knees close to your chest, afraid of what you might have done in the past to deserve such antagonization. Uh-oh. Did this guy know you stole his eldest son's quirk?!
Tenko sat on the couch beside you, twiddling his thumbs while staring down at his feet. He appeared to be dissociating. Smiling nervously; definitely not feeling like he belonged here.
You had no idea why the HPSC President was somebody different now too. Was that your doing?? How much canon had you changed?! It's only been eleven years, right??!.. The new short, silvery haired lady joined the loose circle of those who had gathered. She cleared her throat into her hand. "Thank you all for coming on such a short notice. Since this is difficult subject matter, I thought having the opinions of Japan's finest would help."
Your head sprung up to stare at all the big scary grown-ups. 'the finest,' aye? In that case...where was All Might?
...Meh. Probably just busy as always.
"What exactly is the problem here?" Endeavor gruffed. "I can see she's tiny now, but how does this count as an emergency?"
"She's lost her memories as well. All of them. Everything after the age of six, at least." You had to commend the short woman's eyes for effortlessly piercing right through the hero's intimidating flame. Endeavor's eyes narrowed, taking a moment to glance between you and the President. Didn't take long for the guy to get a clear picture of what this meant. You summoned the confidence to stare right back at all of them. Though there were quite a few heroes here, you recognized them all and knew they were powerful figures.
Endeavor hummed, scratching at his chin while taking a moment to stare at the floor. "Hmmm, I see... She's still far too dangerous. I say we lock her up before she has the chance to repeat any of her past mistakes."
😨 You slid behind Tenko at once. As if gingers weren't scary enough. Here stood the ginger KING! Even among the heroes who believed you staying like this was a good idea, the flame hero's suggestion was a bit too extreme for them. Thankfully, you didn't have to say or do anything to have a few others standing up for you. Endeavor didn't like his idea being challenged one bit, but he already knew it wasn't going to land well with others. He'd have to sit-tight and let everyone else have their say.
"I bet that, with the right upbringing, (Y/n) can be nurtured into a proper young lady." Best Jeanist.
"Though I agree, I have to insert it'll be hard with that quirk of hers.." Edgeshot. "Maybe if we can find a way to disable it for good.."
"Hhhh, but what a waste of a quirk that would be..." Nezu.
"Who knows how much brainwashing she's been forcefed already? Some of it might be irreversible by this point!" Mirko.
"Yeahh, I'm personally not 100% on this plan to leave her as a kid. It's not like raising her a second time will undo everything." Hawks.
Throughout all of this bickering over you and your future, you had crawled your way onto Tenko's lap and huddled there, too afraid to ask anyone what you had done to deserve such talk. Tenko readily accepted you, petting your hair as he finally built up the courage to speak up. "..You guys don't get it. None of you!" The teen's little squeaky voice grabbed attentions all around the room. He was staring down at your shaky head, his dark hair hiding his eyes and most of his face. "This debate should be about (Y/n)'s feelings, not what she can and can't do." He got a few half scowls for that, but continued anyway. "I know her better than anyone else. And I know she was suffering. Losing her parents is only the tip of the iceberg. What really hurt was when all of you guys kept putting the blame for everything on top of her! You really think that helped?! She already felt bad! Talking about her like nothing but an object I bet's what made her even worse." The teen then huffed while shaking his head.
"Wai- Tenny??" You tugged on Tenko's shirt, looking up at his face with watery eyes. "Wh-what happened to my Mommy and Daddy?? Where are they!?! I- hh- I want to see them now- please!!" The teen pulled you against his chest, hugging you tightly. This didn't answer anything. It only served to prove that something bad did happen to them. "Le- let me GO!" Pushing against him. He was much stronger than Hawks somehow. Inhumanly so! You shoved your forehead against his collarbone, breaking down into a worry-driven cry. "I NEED TO SEE THEM! TAKE ME TO MOMMY AND DADDY!"
"Shhhh..." Tenko pet a hand through your hair, his other hand rubbing your back to soothe you. "I can't do that right now. I'm sorry.." His own eyes were brimming with tears, now afraid of losing his composure in front of the professionals. He hummed gently while rocking you. After a minute or two, you had calmed down enough to stop crying, now just sniffling, leaking tears onto his shoulder, and occasionally whimpering as fresh pangs of grief washed over you. The other heroes just gave each other varying looks as this took place. Tenko's attention finally shifted from tending to you. "...I personally think she should stay this way.. not because she's moldable or less of a threat, but because I think it would be cruel to make her keep living the way she was."
Out of everyone there, it was Hawks who stood in the greatest opposition to Tenko now. As the winged hero thought things through, reflecting on his own past experiences and how it shaped him into the person he is now, it felt for a moment like the only ones in the room were himself, Tenko...and you.
He stepped forward so that he and Tenko made unbroken eye contact. "..Wouldn't it be even crueler to make her mourn the same losses, but unable to learn anything from them..? Because, that's essentially what you'd be doing... Those people are still gone... The mistakes she made still have their consequences... The only difference is she would be ill equipped to handle all of that at once. Her grief may get even worse." He shuffled his footing around, pushing through the discomfort. "And not to get on your case or put words in your mouth.. but the way you worded it.. made it sound like living a life full of suffering is worse than not living at all, which I as a hero simply can't stand by. ... I think even a life full of suffering is better than no life at all." After all... If that truly were the case, then why would he even try to fight for a better world? If no life was better than a sad one, then what was the point in becoming a hero?
"I didn't mean--" Tenko was caught off guard by the blond's rebuttal. Both points he made were valid, and he hated that he agreed with both on some level. He didn't want the other to be right... He was split. Tenko wanted you to be happy and innocent forever.. but.. that wasn't realistic. "Hhhh... I guess you do have a point." Still though. He wanted to do everything in his power to keep you from feeling such pain again.
The debate continued, one which covered so many small details and vaguely referenced so many events you didn't understand. No one was willing to explain anything to you either, so you were truly lost. Eventually, you just leaned your head against your friend and started to relax, drifting into a calm state of half sleep. You were lulled even more into sleep by your friend rubbing your back and rocking you gently.
Though there was a terrible sting jabbing through your heart, you were at peace... For now.. at least.
Once you had gone fully limp, everybody noticed. One after another, they sighed and stared down at your sleeping form.
"...What should we do with her in the meantime while we're still deciding?" Hawks asked, placing a hand on his hip.
"I'll take her to my place.." Tenko offered. "We used to have a lot of sleepovers as kids, so it's what she would be most comfortable with."
"Alright." Ms. Zeyale agreed. "Hawks, you'll be in charge of retrieving her tomorrow morning."
"Yes ma'am."
---------------
"Mmmmh..." You groaned in your wake. You lay on your belly, a course wool blanket on your back. Your eyes squinted open, seeing a mix of light grays and whites spilling in from the curtained window. You rubbed your eyes. This.. didn't feel like your bed. It didn't look like your room. Gasping, you sat up in the strange new room, eyes wide and frantically studying everything. Judging by the decor, this room looked like it belonged to a young woman. A woman who liked to sew, for that matter. Maybe a teenager, but if so then she's very mature for her age. You dropped out of the bed and ran out of the room. You were wearing a large pale blue blouse and black shorts.
After fleeing the short hallway, you were met with a living room and kitchen behind it. Your stomach audibly growled after smelling freshly scrambled eggs and waffles.
"(Y/n)?" A young woman with black hair stuck her head out of the kitchen to smile at you. "My, you're up early! Remember me? It's me, Hana! Tenko left for school just a few minutes ago; you just missed him!" You didn't respond. You physically couldn't! Your legs were shaky, your breaths wild and frantic.
Wait.. so.. this wasn't just a dream?!
"(Y/n)?" Hana shuffled your way, eyes full of concern. "It's okay, it's okay. Someone will be here to pick you up soon. You want to hang out with a hero?"
You shook your head furiously, backing away from the woman. "I want my Mommy and Daddy..." You were about ready to curl up into a ball at this point. You backed up into an old greying Corgi and spun around when it yelped suddenly. You stared down at the wood floor, where cracks were starting to spread out from your feet. One of the cracks that reached the old dog had chipped off a piece of its paw, which was now bleeding. Your panic multiplied by ten. No! Not now! Now was not the time to lose control of your quirks!! Especially not around Tenko's family, inside of Tenko's own home!!
You didn't give Hana the chance to catch you, instead bolting for the front door. It was locked! Hana was gaining quickly! She hadn't even noticed the cracks that sprouted from your every footsteps, the dryness that consumed your eyes! She was approaching too quickly for you to bother unlocking the door. You disintegrated it and bolted through the falling chunks. You gained splinters on your way out, but that didn't matter. Nothing mattered right now other than to outrun anyone who tried to chase you.
Your feet cut into the concrete road as you ran, leaving a trail of destruction everywhere you went. You furiously wiped the tears out of your eyes. Your heart was so overcome with confusion and pain, you couldn't process what to do with it.
Eventually, the Decay quirk settled down, but you were still shaky. The next half hour was spent wandering around until you had an idea of where you were. The hour after that consisted of sneaking on and off trains, looking at maps, and running around until finally...
. . .
Your house had been vandalized to the extent of unrecognizability. You stared from the front lawn, large, dim eyes staring at the ghastly sight.
" 'MURDERER, VILLAIN, KILLER, SCUM, MONSTER, DEMON' " These and more had been written all over the place, defacing the house just a day ago considered your home. Even worse than that, the windows were smashed in, scorch marks decorated the walls, and the roof was mostly caved-in. A sight to gawk at. This humble home had become the place for the masses to vent their rage.
Your legs were heavy as you trudged forward. It felt like you were wading against the current of a raging river as you climbed up the step and walked on through the empty doorway.
Somehow, it was even worse inside. What hadn't been burnt had been smashed to bits. Entire sections of the floor had been ripped from their places and stabbed into the remaining sheetrock. gum, nails, used cigarettes, empty cans of beer and paint. All of it was left around discarded in the home, collecting into large trash piles that joined the ash and dust. You held your hands over your mouth, walking around your old home slowly
" 'HERO KILLER, MURDERER, DEMON, LOSER' " That and more were written across its walls. Those and many other, smaller, petty insults. Your eyes lingered on the message written on the flaky kitchen tile. " 'ALL MIGHT KILLER!' " You stood petrified. All Might... killer? ... Someone...killed All Might?
You could hardly breathe. Hardly think. Couldn't even accept this as reality. You had a feeling all of these words weren't for you. But, even so.. they may as well have been.
All Might would have lived if you were never born. He would, and you knew it! There was no denying that your existence had made things worse!
Behind you was the faint outline of paint in the shape of a fallen body... It was about your mother's size...
CRACK!
The house's very foundations were torn open. Your arms started to emit bright blue flames, which nipped at your skin and singed the short sleeves of your shirt. You grabbed your head and cried aloud. So much was going on! So much pain! You wanted, needed to let it all out. But you were scared to destroy the whole neighborhood as its price!
"I thought I'd find you here.." Came Hawks' voice.
You spun his way. "STAY BACK!!!" But, the teen was floating over the crumbling floor. Cracks and crunches sounded on occasion, followed by little sink-ins in the floor. The whole house was slowly eroding to Decay; a fate which the young hero could evade with the help of his quirk. Though he seemed safe enough, there was no assurance that he was truly safe. "Please!.. I'm dangerous! Go away!!" Water filled your eyes. You stared up at the hero with a plea that struck him at his core.
He cringed, stopping midair. "Yeah, I really didn't have a plan for this.. Can you turn yourself into a cat yet?" You shook your head. He inhaled through his teeth. "Alright, just.. keep your hands to yourself for a second, okay?" A few feathers flew out from his wings, wrapped around your waist, and picked you up gently. The creaking, cracking, and shifting of the foundations ceased. Keigo then dropped onto the floor and pried off his jacket. He approached you with his jacket in one arm. "It's going to be okay.. It's going to be okay... Can you put out the fire for me?" You squeezed your eyes shut to concentrate, but it was no good. Your flame quirk was one wrong move away from devouring your entire body. The hero released an agitated sigh. "Yeah this is why returning you to your old self is probably a better idea.." He muttered. You still weren't decided on the matter. After all, you couldn't remember what you were like before!
You sniffled. "What happened to everyone..? Why is All Might dead?? Where is my home...?" As you cried, arms shaky and tense in front of you, the flames finally fizzled out, leaving behind small burns.
Hawks wrapped his jacket around you so he could hug you safely. You rested your chin on his shoulder, the streams of tears leaking into his shirt. "Why did everyone have to die..?"
Rubbing your back, "I don't know, kid... Try not to blame yourself too much.. With great power comes even greater mistakes, I guess. And we all make those."
"I don't want to be in this world anymore..."
...
"Hm. So you were reincarnated~?"
"...Yeah..."
"Okay then... I believe you." The hero placed his chin atop your head, then flew with you out one of the holes in the roof. You were still and silent as a mouse, terrified to move a muscle and accidentally kill him.
A while later, he finally reached the HPSC headquarters and carried you inside. Shoes were quickly placed on your feet and gloves on your hands. You were then sat down in front of a TV and allowed to watch some shows to get your mind off of things. After the jittering subsided and visibly you were doing a lot better, the madam President sat down on the little couch with you and started asking about your previous life. It was all staged like a casual therapy session, so you felt open enough to finally talk about the things you had been hiding for years now. She let you tell your stories, occasionally asking about random stuff you mentioned like the names of your family members, specific dates, places, and events. You just went along with it because, well, it was nice to finally get to talk to somebody about this stuff. She seemed like a pretty nice person too. Super chill and easy to talk to. You kinda liked her, actually.
After that comparatively relaxing conversation, the woman left you to have another meeting with someone else, again about you.
You watched another movie in the meantime. It was boring, but useful as a distraction tool. The door to the small lounge room opened suddenly, as the movie was ending. "(Y/n), come out here please. Someone is here to pick you up." Oo! Was it Tenko? You skipped to the door, stopping in the frame when you got a good look at who was actually here. Chisaki stared down at you with no clear emotion in his eyes. You backed up, but the woman pulled the door shut on you so you couldn't hide in there with the TV anymore. "(Y/n), this man has taken care of you for the past four years and knows how to undo whatever turned you into a child." He nodded. You scowled up at him. A brow of his lifted.
You pouted, pressing your back to the door defiantly. "I don't want to go. I want to wait for Tenko."
"I'm sorry but you don't have a choice in the matter." The brunette scowled. You tried to dart to the right, but Kai's little henchman jabbed your arm with his arrow hair, slowing you down greatly. Kai explained further as the silver haired man picked you up with ease. "The President here agrees you should return to normal, so you'll have to come back with us." You whimpered, cried, screamed; anything you could possibly do to avoid this. Why was Chisaki of all people your guardian?! Was he using you for his experiments too!?
You had very little power in this situation. Part of you was scared to use too much of it and risk exposing your abilities. Though it was hinted many of these people knew your quirk, even your heritage, you had no idea who and to what extent! It was all so F-ing confusing!!
"Here, have a coffee." Kai handed you a can. You pushed it away from yourself.
"Ew! No!"
"I know you don't like it, but it's the only thing that calms you down." Gasp. How did he know?!
"No!"
"Yes."
"No!!"
"Yes!"
"NO!"
-_- "Will you guys please quiet down?"
----------
"Can you stop squirming back there? You're fine." Kai said while driving. It was just you and the two Yakuza members now. You were obviously anxious. Having your wrists and ankles tied with random cloth belts didn't help either.
You flopped onto your side. "Are you going to experiment on me!??"
"What? No. I told you already. You've been living at the Shie Hassaikai for nearly four years now."
"Because you want my blood or something!" In your kicking around, you wound up falling onto the car floor.
"Hey, I told you to stay buckled!" Hari shot you a glare. You growled at him like a caged animal. That's how you felt. After a few more minutes of driving, "Almost there." He said as the car started to slow down. You waited and waited. For the perfect moment, you waited. Then, finally, when the car had stopped and the two guys reached for their seatbelts, you took advantage of that half-second to disintegrate the binds and car door encasing you. "HEY!" Both men shouted after you, but you fled into the nearby bushes. You thought you'd hidden yourself decently well, until a massive masked dude with long curly reddish hair reached in and plucked you from the shrubs easily.
"Found her!" He announced. Your two escorts caught up with you. The one guy made you slower again and carried you back inside.
"Ughhh. Take her to her room. I have to run this quirk through a couple more tests to be safe." Kai left.
----------
Though you could easily spend hours going through all the things in your room, using context clues and a little access to the internet to piece together everything that had happened, you had no desire to stay put and wait around for Mr. Child Experimenter to return.
So, naturally, after you had been left alone in your room long enough, you crawled out of your bedroom window and tore a small hole through the wall to freedom!
But... where would you go?? What would you do?? Everything and everyone led back to you winding up in Chisaki's hands again, so you had to think up something fast and easy! Find people who you recognized and knew were safe, even if they may not recognize you.
----------
All it took was a lot of asking people where the nearest trashy beach is and a lot of luck! The sun was on its way to setting by the time you finally found a familiar setting.
...Huh. You expected this beach to be a lot messier, but it actually looked like someone was already cleaning it out. Your eyes widened slightly to see a few strangers hanging around one of the trash piles and cleaning it up. You shuffled up to them and stared up curiously. "Why.. why are you guys cleaning??"
"Hm?"
"Oh?" Two young men and a woman turned to you. They then smiled kindly.
The woman chuckled. "We're neighbors who live just down that way." She pointed into the neighborhood. "We were beginning to believe this beach would never look like a proper beach again!.. But, about a year ago, a couple kids started cleaning up around here. We laughed at first, since it was impossible to clean up! But-"
"-My God, Mom! You're going to bore the kid to death!"
"TIMMY, GODD###IT!!!" She immediately calmed down and smiled again. "..Long story short, you could say we were inspired when they didn't give up and they actually began making progress!.. So, now I take my boys out here on a daily basis to get them off their lazy a##es!" The two boys groaned. "Hopefully, we'll still be around by the time this beach is finally cleaned up!" The mother laughed. You marveled and started walking around the trash pile the three stood on.
People were actually cleaning up this beach? That didn't align with canon.. Curiosity drove you deeper and deeper into the junk yard until finally you found a large clearing on the beach. Finally, just one massive patch of sand. The sound of waves crashing against the shore calmed you. It was early sunset. The sky was only just beginning to change color from its typical blue shade. You stood there, at peace and enjoying the scenery.
Some children laughing together caught your ear. Right as you opened your eyes, a green haired boy with two wiggly tubes attached to his arms chased after a blond and red haired kid. Your eyes widened so much, trained on the familiar figures that ran around squealing and barking at each other. Immediately, you knew something was off. None of them were supposed to be friends yet.
The boys noticed and pointed you out, so they felt caught and went back to cleaning up the beach together. Every time they passed you, they got more and more curious about you and why such a young girl was all alone and staring at them. Finally, Izuku did the responsible thing and ran up to you. "Hello? Are you lost? Do you need help getting back home?" He crouched lower, smiling at you with such genuine kindness in his eyes. You kicked your shoes through the sand some, grabbing your hands and holding them close to yourself. As you stared at the sand in an attempt not to get emotional all over again...you got emotional all over again.
Choking up and dripping tears already, "...I don't have a home.. My Mommy is dead," sniff "and my Daddy is a villain in prison!" The other two boys jogged up beside Izuku. You were wiping away tears furiously. "People keep saying they know me and that I'm a bad person, but I don't even know what I did! A- and my quirk keeps trying to hurt people! I- I don't know what to do! Can you help me?!" Your stomach growled loudly. "....M' hungry..." An ache consumed your heart. It felt like too much to ask for, like you didn't even deserve any help! But... you had nowhere left to go.
"...Can I see your hand?" Izuku asked. You offered him your gloved hand. He caught your wrist and pried off the glove.
You shrieked. "Wait! M- my quirk can hurt-"
"I knew it! You are (Y/n)!" He exclaimed while examining the small indent in your palm.
You tore your wrist free from him and snatched back the glove. "You know me already too?!" You asked with teary eyes.
Izuku waved his hands around. "I-it's okay! I won't hurt you! I was your friend!" The three boys then formed a circle to discuss this odd situation. They asked you questions occasionally but mostly kept the talking to themselves. As Izuku and Katsuki were arguing about what to do with you, Shoto broke off from the group and crouched to be level with you. He stared directly into your eyes, his face mere inches from yours. When you leaned back a little, he just leaned forward, keeping close eye contact.
"Mmh... Are you okay?" You mumbled nervously. The preteen then blinked and backed away. After he got a good look at the sun, he gasped and tugged on Izuku's sleeve. "I- I have to go home now!"
"Oh? Okay!" Izuku waved as the other ran off. "Bye, Shochan!" Shoto waved too as he took to scampering off the beach.
"Ugh, do whatever I guess. At least she doesn't seem to remember anything." Bakugo growled while giving you a glare.
"Okay! Come on, (Y/n)chan!" Izuku jogged past you, grabbing your hand along the way. You stumbled into step beside him, running to keep up. "Bye, Kachan! I promise I'll be safe!"
The young Bakugo cupped his hands around his mouth. "You better not be making an idiot move, Deku!"
"I promise! It's not!!"
-----
Even Ms. Inko seemed to recognize you. Izuku explained the apparent situation to her at once and she was surprisingly accepting of it. The Midoriya family took you in with open arms. They fed you, clothed you, provided you with a bath to clean up in, and made a bed for you on the couch. All the while, you wondered why. Yes, they were nice, but, did you deserve it..? Because, from the sound of what everyone else was saying about you, you were quite the criminal. It was rather hard to imagine how you could have left such a positive impression on these people.
...It was a nice change of pace. You liked Inko's coddling. It reminded you so much of Chloe. You liked kind, familiar faces to look at. People you knew were good and were not here to harm you. You hated having to second guess people's motives or being surrounded by strangers.
You liked the warmth of a loving home. You liked the comfort of home sewn blankets and old soft pillows.
It was calm.
It was nice.
You were missing something.
Laying on your back, you stared up at the ceiling, rethinking the past couple days. The more you thought about it, the more you realized something... You had many enemies, but you also had many friends. Sure, some of them were people you hadn't expected to know so closely or fondly, but, they seemed to care about you regardless.
Tenko clearly still cared for you. Spinner for some odd reason was in your life too, and he was pretty chill. Best part of all was that both of them were in a hero school! They were already on the right track... You wondered how many other villains you had reformed. There were probably a lot more than just those you had seen today. Even Chisaki, well, he was more respectful than you had expected him to be. His silver haired lackey too. And somehow you had managed to get Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto to befriend and support one another?! Ho-how?!.. And your dad was in prison, far from being able to hurt anybody else.
...Dang.. Had you succeeded?! Though you had a bad record now, at least it looked like the heroes were willing to collaborate with you! So, maybe it wasn't as bad as you thought..
Maybe you weren't as bad as you thought.
Your mother being dead, though? Now that was something you would never be okay with. ... But, though you were young again, it wasn't like you had control over time itself. You couldn't undo any of your past mistakes. So then... What was the better option?
Staying like this forever..
Or going back to your former self.
Thinking long and hard about it, it all comes down to how much you can trust yourself.
Can you really trust that, if your memories are restored, you will continue to be a good person?
. . .
It was late and no one but you were awake. You just couldn't go to sleep with such a pressing issue needing resolution. After about an hour of thinking, you sat up.
You left a letter of appreciation to the Midoriyas, and, you left.
You retraced your steps all throughout the night, easily getting lost thanks to the cloaking darkness messing with your memories of landmarks and locations. You felt you were SOOO close! But you were lost.
You stood in the middle of an empty intersection, a single streetlight illuminating your form. You spun around slowly, trying to decide which way to go now.
"Woah, (Y/n)!" A small human with a cloth bag over his head and two bulging eyes appeared under the spotlight too. You gasped, only vaguely recognizing this guy.
You nervously glanced right and left, holding your hands together in front of you, and hummed sadly. "Can.. can you take me back to.. um.. wherever Chisaki is?" The little guy happily led you back to the base himself, venting a little bit about how he and the others have been searching for you nonstop all day and night. You apologized for being such a bother.
"So you finally came to your senses, did you?" Chisaki came to you dragging his feet. You had just arrived at the gate and already he was there waiting for you.
You lowered your head in defeat. "..Yeah, I think I want to remember everything now.. since abandoning my life would be pointless."
The man chuckled. "Finally thinking rationally?"
You growled up at him. "Yeah but if I find out you have been experimenting on me, I will kill you so bad!"
Chisaki's eyes squinted in such a way that you could tell he was smiling. He reached down and pat your head. "You won't have to worry with that."
"Mhh." You pushed the man's head off of your head.
Kai left you and turned around, leading you back to the place you apparently called home. "I suggest you change into your own clothes beforehand."
Dang your clothes were BIG! You waddled out of your bedroom, carrying fistfuls of the excess clothing along with you. Kai was waiting in the living room. He stood when you finally made an appearance, removing his right glove. "I take it you are ready?" Standing in front of him now, you nodded. "Okay." He took a deep breath. "Let's hope this works." Wait what?
Before you had time to even question it, the man's hand was placed on your head, a completely different quirk other than his own activating.
Aa-

You sighed and rested your chin on your palm. Gosh, English class was SO boring! You were sitting slouched over your desk, unable to hide your severe boredom anymore.
You scrolled around through your mental list of quirks as a last resort to entertain yourself.
Hm. May as well.
Driven by boredom, you touched your arm and activated Eri's quirk in an attempt to experiment with it a little. That's when-
---------------
You gasped, sitting upright off of the floor. You growled and rubbed your eyes. Even after opening them, you still couldn't see anything. "####.." Activating your sight quirk, you realized you were in the living room all of a sudden.
...
Ohhh... That's when all the memories of the past couple days flooded back in, now feeling all like some strange dream. "Wait, I was a child just now, right?"
Kai nodded. "An annoying brat too." You stuck your tongue out at him. "A fact that's never changed."
"I could've been worse." As you picked yourself up, Hari handed Kai a cleaning wipe for his hive-ridden hand. "Thanks though." Once you had stood and straightened out your clothes, you turned back toward your room to live as normal again.
"Hold on." Kai stopped you. "If you give someone any quirks you received since you were blinded, I can restore your eyes right now. It is unlikely your memories will be tampered with either."
You thought about it for a little while, but then shrugged it off. "My Sight quirk is fine... Besides," you walked into the dark hallway, "I don't mind being a little broken." It felt deserved for everything you had done.
But.. now... At least you trusted yourself not to do anything like that again.. mostly.
You had a life here to take care of, as well as people who relied on you. You knew now better than before. You had a place, as strange and sometimes terrible as it was.
You had a home. And people who loved you. And who you loved too.

=======================
I think I'm done writing such long chapters. TvT It's clearly taking a toll on my mental health.
New fanfic idea: basically starts with this exact same chapter, except Y/n stays a kid and gets adopted by Ms. Inko.
