3: March 31st

I just want to give a quick shout-out to my phone's autocorrect. Without it, my books would be illegible and y'all would have seizures tryna read em.

😭 Bro this chapter is 11k words long!
🙏
==============================

Like every day here, it was another quiet, peaceful one. You had nothing to do but attend to your own thoughts. Since you were trapped here, you started doing two things, other than art of course. One was teaching yourself Mandarin Chinese, as well as brushing up on your English, and the other was listening to sage wisdom from all around the globe. And I'm not talking about those cheap self help books! Nahh, forget that crap! You were going to the very sources of wisdom dating thousands of years back!

And of course, again, this led you back to a few of the more ancient books carried around in the Bible, specifically from a king known to be very rich and very wise. You were quite liking the idea of wising up yourself. Maybe finding out things like the meaning of life and how to love yourself. Simple stuff, ya know?

You'd been laying on your back on the plain old hospital bed for hours now, fidgeting with your hair while listening to the audio book reading through the book of Proverbs. This was where all the weemsdoms be hiding.

You'd nearly dozed off when suddenly that book ended, automatically starting at the next book of Ecclesiastes. Written by the same guy, apparently, but much later in his life. You perked up your head at the book change for a second, but then set it back down. Yeah, may as well while you were this bored.

. . book . .

2 "Vanity of vanities," says the king; "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity."

3 What profit has a man from all his labor in which he toils under the sun?
4 One generation passes away, and another generation comes; but the earth abides forever.
5 The sun also rises, and the sun goes down, and hastens to the place where it arose.
7 All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full; to the place from which the rivers come, there they return again.
8 All things are full of labor; man cannot express it. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.

9 That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there anything of which it may be said, "See, this is new"? It has already been in ancient times before us.
11 There is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come by those who will come after.

16 I communed with my heart, saying, "Look, I have attained greatness, and have gained more wisdom than all who were before me in Jerusalem. My heart has understood great wisdom and knowledge." 17 And I set my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is grasping for the wind.

18 For in much wisdom is much grief,
And he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.

4 I made my works great, I built myself palaces, and planted myself vineyards.
9 So I became great and excelled more than all who were before me in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom remained with me.
11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done and on the labor in which I had toiled; and indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind.
There was no profit under the sun.

12 Then I turned myself to consider wisdom and madness and folly;
For what can the man do who succeeds the king?- Only what he has already done.
13 Then I saw that wisdom excels folly as light excels darkness.
14 The wise man's eyes are in his head, but the fool walks in darkness. Yet I myself perceived that the same event happens to them all.

15 So I said in my heart,
"As it happens to the fool, it also happens to me, and why was I then more wise?" Then I said in my heart, "This also is vanity."
16 For there is no more remembrance of the wise than of the fool forever, since all that now is will be forgotten in the days to come. And how does a wise man die? As the fool!

17 Therefore I hated life because the work that was done under the sun was distressing to me, for all is vanity and grasping for the wind.

There is one alone, without companion:
He has neither son nor brother.
Yet there is no end to all his labors,
Nor is his eye satisfied with riches.
But he never asks, "For whom do I toil and deprive myself of good?" This also is vanity and a grave misfortune.

. . book . .

You turned it off before the book had a chance to continue.

Sighing, "...Yeah. That's enough reading for today..."

---------------

Apparently, you were doing so well here that the staff started to question whether or not you were really a villain, or if this was all just some big misunderstanding. You were so polite and respectful. Pushy only when it came to helping out. And when you weren't helping or experimenting with arts and crafts, you were relaxing in your room working on improving your mind however you could. Keeping it sharp. For this, the curious HPSC was given a positive report, and you weren't taken to prison.

In your little world, you offered a polite goodbye to Mr. Shimura, since he was now well enough to return to his home and live as before. He never stopped sending money to his family, by the way. It was an empty threat from start to finish. He just wanted to see if his son would put heroism over family like his mother had. Now, he at least accepted that his boy might just see the world a little differently. So.. perhaps becoming a hero wouldn't mean abandoning his mom and sister for him. Certainly was a complicated feud between father and son. One which for now was stuck on stalemate.

...

Oh, wait... There was a way to solve your blindness without having to wait on Kai.

---------------

You were guided to and stopped in front of a chair, which you sat down in after feeling where it was with your heel. Crossing your legs, your fingers intertwined over your lap.

The room was so empty that one could hear the gentlest of tapping bouncing back at them from the walls. Based off the echoes, it sounded like this room was decently sized as well. There were very few sounds other than the ones made by yourself and the guard who helped guide you to your seat. A steel door locked shut behind you, leaving you nearly alone.

His breaths were somewhat muffled by the glass wall, but the sounds were clear enough thanks to a few holes in it. You started to get a little anxious sitting there. You recognized his breaths so well by now, there was no denying who was on the other side of that glass wall. Problems arose when it came to how he would respond to your visit. For the most part, he seemed to just be studying you from his own chair.

"...-Hhhh, well it appears you haven't been fairing well. How did this blindness of yours come about?" Droned the main villain. His tone differed from usual. Uninterested, as it could be put. You had very few memories of him talking like this; most took you way back to when you lived a simple life with your parents. He would use that tone whenever told to do some kind of chore while in the middle of something. Hearing that same tone again, this time aimed directly at you, put a pit in your stomach.

You closed your useless eyes, fingers fidgeting with one another. "I.. um... I poured boiling water on my face... But, I'm doing a lot better now."

"Mh. And I'm assuming you came to visit me about a quirk? Perhaps even the one I used while momentarily blinded?" Judging from the dryness in his tone and the coldness of his words, he correctly assumed you were here for no other reason than to use him. This somehow doubled the guilt. Imagining yourself in his shoes at least, you would feel pretty agitated by guests only here to use you as well.

You nodded stiffly. "Yes... That is.. why I'm here..."

"Hm.. well, alright. I don't have much use for it in here." He stood from the chair, striding your way. "Follow the sound of my voice. There is a small window to the right."

"Um-- o-okay." You stood up and briskly moved to his right.

     "Your right."

"Oops. My bad!" Turning again. At least you didn't have to worry so much about bumping into things. After feeling around the glass, you found a hole large enough to be considered a small window. Reaching though, your body jumped when touching a familiar warm hand. "Oh, there you are!" You held onto each other's hands. Like a handshake, but, a lot less formal. "Got any seeing quirks?" You giggled. The man chuckled softly as well.

"Ah yes. It's been a while since we played that game... Does that mean you will allow me a turn?"

     "Probably not.."

"Hhh, as I suspected. Here." The warmth between your hands increased as the quirk was passed on from one person to another. It took a few seconds, but, as your mind was equipping such a quirk to your person, some semblance of an image faded into your mind. However, it was confusing. Terribly so. Trying to process this whole new sense brought you a terrible headache. You grabbed your head with your other hand, groaning as too much information flooded your brain at once. "It took me a few hours to adjust to that quirk. A slow acclimation process is the best course for that one. I suggest disabling it for now, then re-enabling it while alone in an empty room."

"Thanks.." You hissed through your teeth, disabling the quirk so that you were blind once more. The man started to loosen his hand and pull it away, but you held on with an iron grip. His breath stilled, blinking down at your firm grasp. You didn't say anything. Not like you had to.

Standing there waiting for you to let go of his hand, the man sighed while staring around at the empty room. "Hhh.. you know, it's awfully flattering being locked away in a prison named 'Tartarus.' Do you know where the name originates, (Y/n)?"

You nodded, speaking softly, "Yeah." You couldn't bring yourself to let go. Not even you knew exactly why. Your mind kept telling your hand to release him, but it wasn't listening! It had been less than a full month since you'd seen him last!

Your father started speaking, simply to fill the time. "This place is by far much more hospitable than the Tartarus I read about. Called 'The Yawning Gates of Hell,' Tartarus is said to be as far from Earth as Earth is from the Heavens. It lies beneath even the deepest depths of Hades. Dismal, dark, and a place full of decay... It was said to be the place which houses the truly wicked. Though, originally it was meant as a sealing place for those who dared stand against the gods... What may be a little lesser known is that Tartarus was one of the three children of Chaos; primordial deities at the origin of everything. The other two being Gaia, the Earth, and Eros, the sun. ... Not going to let go, or should I talk some more until you're positively bored?"

"M- sorry!" You snatched your hand away. "I must have forgotten I was still holding your hand.. and, no. To be honest, your ranting wasn't boring at all. I've actually been listening to a lot of stories like it recently." This was... embarrassing.

"..Huh." Your father certainly wasn't expecting you to be so entertained. But, then again, he had spoken to you a few times about even deeper, more bizarre topics about the universe and creation before. Guess it was a topic both of you were interested in, then. The man then chuckled softly to himself. "You know.. I do find it rather cute of you to dive through so many unnecessary hoops to see me like this. For the two of us to meet, I can imagine it took a lot of negotiating." Your face sweat a little. Got that right. Just to see him took getting the entire government involved. "It's cute especially knowing how easily one such as yourself could break in and out of here. You really must be trying your hardest to get on the heroes' good side still. How adorable~ To think they care~"

Your face flustered really quick! He was so close to basically saying outright that you've broken in before. You did. Once. To free Garaki. But if the cameras picked up on what he was hinting at, that would mean the word would be out that you played a part in The Doctor's escape, and you are troubled enough as it is!

"You know, even at the level you are right now, if you simply followed the blueprints I left you, you'd be the Earth's ruler within no more than a decade. That compared to this cat and mouse game with the law sounds far more productive to me~"

     "Wait, what blueprints??"

By the sound of his chuckle, you knew the man was smirking sinisterly. What exactly were his plans here? To frame you as even more of the villain you already were; forcing you to side with him?! Or was he simply messing with you? "My.. you haven't found them yet~?"

"Tsh." You turned to the side. "I don't care about all that. I- I want to be a hero! And if I can't have that, I at the very least want to live a normal life! Becoming a villain is the last thing on my mind right now. I'd rather die than hurt another person!"

     "Such tragedy.." The villain pouted.

You rolled your eyes. "How so?"

"I'm not sure if you ever noticed this, but.. People never want what they already have. They want what they don't have... What they can't have. ... Just like how your little Izuku dreams of being a hero... Dreams like that were meant to be crushed... I suggest you move on from your dreams of normalcy and heroism. The more you try, the worse the pain will be when you inevitably are forced to let it go." You grit your teeth, glad, infuriated, and embarrassed that this all had to be caught on camera. At the very least, others could now see how your father talked to you. They could see just how hard he so often pushed you to do what he wanted you to do.. every, single, time the two of you met... You were so sick of it. Maybe it was better not to listen to this man and forget he ever existed.

But at the same time, there was so much wisdom in his words. Wisdom you so obviously lacked!

18 For in much wisdom is much grief,
And he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.

Then again.. maybe you were okay where you were at. You didn't need all the answers, after all.

Just the answers to the questions right in front of you.

You turned from your old man toward the door, careful in each step not to trip over the chair. Seeing that you were done, the metal door opened again.

     "Oh, and, (Y/n)?"

You stopped, pivoting your chin over your shoulder. "Hm?"

     "Happy early birthday, my angel."

"Psh. Sure." You shrugged it off rather quickly... Wait, birthday?

. . .

Holy crap, tomorrow is your birthday!!!

---------------

Unlike your original birthday, which you still celebrated on a yearly basis by drowning yourself in ice cream and tears while watching old nostalgic movies like Finding Nemo, Spirit, Ice Age, and Pinocchio: A True Story, your birthday in this world was on March 31st. As a kid, you celebrated in a fairly normal manner with your parents. However, as a teen, you didn't even care to tell anyone about it, so you too forgot to celebrate in time. In fact, it had been years since you even heard the words "happy birthday" uttered your way. Heck, the Shie Hassaikai dudes didn't even know when it was!

So imagine your shock upon being visited by none other than Kai that morning. With permission to steal you away from the hospital, no less.

----------

Just from the way his steely eyes scanned your messy room, you knew exactly what was on his mind.

ಠ _ಠ                            *﹏*;

     "Harbinger of Chaos."

     "HEY, IN MY DEFENSE, I--!!!"

"-Heard you got a new quirk yesterday that helps you see. So then. I assume you won't be needing a guide?" His hands were stuffed into his jacket pockets, dearly hoping the answer was a yes. By the looks of it, he came alone as well.

Sitting up in your bed, "Um, well.. it's a little complicated actually." You went on to explain how you had stayed up for hours adjusting your quirk last night. The best way to explain what it was like would be by comparing it to video games, specifically ones which allow you to toggle the perspective. In many games, they let you choose between a first person and a third person perspective. Now, imagine overlaying both of these perspectives at the same time without the ability to toggle one on or off, then add on three or more different third person perspectives going on at the same time showing you every perceivable angle of this room. Finish with the ability for your sight to zoom in or out, and literally just wander away if it wants, and you have a recipe for by far one of the most complicated quirks you've ever had to learn. Bringing up the puppet metaphor again, this would be a puppet with more strings than limbs, you don't know what half the strings connect to, and moving the puppet incorrectly too fast can give you a migraine. Definitely feeling sorry for whoever was born with this quirk right now... And, today, you were still in the beginner phases of figuring it out. Darn it, Dad, why did he make it sound so easy?! Took him only a few hours!!? "In short, if I start to get a headache, I might have to deactivate the quirk until I'm feeling better."

"Ah. Then, how will I know when-?"

"-I actually have a solution for that already." You slid out of bed and walked over to a nearby desk. From it you picked up a pair of sunglasses. "I'll put these on whenever the quirk has been deactivated."

"Hm." The young man nodded a little. "That should make things easier. ... Anyway. Pops wanted me to get you a birthday present, but I don't have a clue what you'd want, so just come with me and pick something out and we can pretend it was my idea."

"OoOo~" That actually sounded pretty fun. Like what your mom and you used to do, since you weren't much of a surprises person! You carefully trudded toward the guy, still getting a feel for where you were in the room. Looking up at Kai, you tried and mostly succeeded to make eye contact. "Wait, but my clothes!"

"I brought a few outfits from your room."

     "Yey!"

----------

"Hey, Kai, is this my yellow shirt?" You stepped out of the bathroom.

Leaning against the wall, the man looked up from his phone. "No, that one's blue. Are you color blind now?"

"Sort of?? This quirk isn't light based, so I can't see things like color, pictures, and words."

"Huh, that can be a problem. Can you still use a phone?"

"Nope!" Not without help at least.

"Ugh. Just don't get lost today, okay?"

     "I'll try!"

After you scurried back into the bathroom, Kai's attention was drawn to a couple young women among the staff, giggling outside the bedroom door. "What?"

     "Oh! Nothing."
"We just think it's cute how the two of you banter."

"Yeah. She's been really reserved and well mannered ever since she got here, so it's cute to see her acting her age."
        "Yeah!"
"Are you her big brother or something?"

"Actually, I--" Wait, (Y/n) acted differently around him compared to others?... Guess that explained why he could never understand the compliments about (Y/n) being a kind, determined, well mannered young lady. The only (Y/n) she ever let him see was the one who lounged around all day acting like a twelve year old. "I... Yeah. I'm her brother." If you two were giving off brother/sister vibes, then perhaps it was best not to sour the mood with the news about your arranged marriage. Kai returned to scrolling around on his phone while the women spread the rumor about your big brother visiting.

----------

You trotted out of the bathroom, the quirk that made you 5'3 active. As Kai looked up from his phone, he blinked in surprise. You stood before him and tilted your head slightly.

     "You... You shrunk."

"Heh, yeah. I think this outfit looks cuter when I'm--"

Pap.

Kai placed his hand on your head, as though he couldn't stop himself. Kai only realized what he was doing after he'd ruffled your hair a little bit.

A tad embarrassed, the brunette slid his gloved hand off your head and cleared his throat. "..Let's hurry up. Pops is using your birthday as an excuse to see how you're doing. So, the sooner I can pass you over to him, the sooner I can be rid of you."

"Owh." Well, you didn't really care much anyway. You were used to him being rude. So instead you hyped yourself up for getting to see the house again! "Hey, can we have an actual party? Oo! Can we make sure Himiko gets to see me today?! I'm sure she misses me!" You felt a little selfish asking for this, but boldness was a feature given to those bored enough.

"Ughhh, I'll text Pops about it and see what he thinks."

"Yeuss!" This may just be the perfect time to celebrate the people still left in your life.

----------

Kai talked to Pops over the phone while driving you to the nearest outdoor mall. You took this time to nap in the back seats. On top of staying up late, using this new quirk required a lot of mental energy, so it was important to rest while you could.

"Yeah?.... Yeah.... Understood... I'll see what I can do." Kai finally hung up. He turned his head a little to speak to you now. "We can celebrate your birthday however you want. You're free to invite whoever."

"Mmh?" You pushed your torso up a little and rubbed the sleep out of your eyes. Your sight quirk remained off for now. "Mh...? A party?.. I..guess it would be nice to invite Himiko and Jin... Other than that, I don't have any friends."

"Not even your secret twin sister?"

     "My what??"

Kai's eyes widened. Staring ahead, his hands gripped the wheel tightly. "..I saw someone who looked just like you with Toga.. but she didn't recognize me."

"Oh?" You laughed tiredly. "That's probably the double of me Jin made a while back."

"You know someone who can clone people..?"

"Yah." Rubbing your face again. "Known him since I was ten. He's like my big brother. Really sweet."

"You don't say.." Another big brother figure..? ... Wonder what this Jin knew about you that he didn't. Doing basic math, Jin would have known for you for three years. Kai also has known you for about three years. So... Which of them then had a better understanding of who you really were? The brunette was curious to find out. Was he more like your brother, or this...Jin? "I'll help you invite them. Do you know what you'd like to eat?"

Your body draping again over the back row of seats, you laid an arm over your face as a catalog of different textures and tastes sorted through your mouth one after another. You didn't quite know why, but you were craving something you hadn't eaten in decades. Something tasty. Something nostalgic. Something... Something...

     "Carrot Flesh Calzones." You smiled.

     "What?"

"I used to make them myself a while back." Indeed, in your past life, there was the infamous carrot harvesting season near where you lived. As a little kid, your parents would take you and your sisters to gleam whatever was left from the fields. You'd fill the bed of a truck with whatever was left of the harvest! This meant that every meal you had before the vegetables rotted all in some way had to do with carrots. The most common meal was mayo and ground carrots. Sometimes you'd throw in a few dandelions for seasoning. But you got so tired of eating nothing but that after a week that you were more willing to eat dirt than mayo and carrots again. So, you were always happy and eager to find other ways you could eat these carrots.

Once you were old enough to get jobs to earn some cash for yourself, about 8-10 you gathered together enough money to buy other ingredients during carrot harvesting season. It took years of experimenting with different meals, but by age fourteen you'd developed a Calzone recipe to your liking. Was it the best thing you'd ever had? No. But there was something rewarding about that flavor. You could taste it now.

"...Huh." Kai turned in to a parking garage. "There should be a food market nearby, but I don't think anyone around here sells those."

"That's okay. I can make it myself. My own recipe!"

Kai made a very distrustful sound.

(Yes, the carrot story is real too. My mom's childhood was crazy, man! And I'm leaving out all the stuff about her living in an ice cream truck, the Mafia-like firework business on her mom's side, and her parents being part-time clowns!)

---------------

You clung to Kai's jacket sleeve as he led you through the garage, your sunglasses on. You were going to try to use your sight as little as possible in a chaotic place like the markets.

It was quiet. Your echoing footsteps bounced off of every wall.

The young man snickered suddenly, then stopped and turned to you. "Activate that quirk real quick." You did as he asked, looking the man in the eyes and focusing as best you could. You slid off the sunglasses. He stared down at you, smiling through the mask. "Me when you talk in memes:" Ungloved hand touching his wrist, Kai aged before your very eyes into a smaller, wrinkly old man.

Your plain expression broke, a massive smile stealing its spot as you erupted in laughter. "NO WAY!" You struggled to breathe. "MAKE ME OLD TOO! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!?"

"Wait huh?" The now old man took a step away from your sudden energetic self. "Why do you want to be old?"

"Just while we're at the market!! We can pretend to be an old married couple!!! Please!?!"

Kai rolled his eyes. "Fine, but only because it's your birthday." He placed his hand on your head. You shrunk even more, turning round and wrinkly but oh so very jolly.

"Owh.. forgot how much that hurts." You rubbed your arms and hips a bit, relieved to not have any of that joint pain. Then you smiled, laughing and giddy as if you were plotting something mischievous. "Hehehehehe," Your voice sounded like an old lady too! You hunched and scooted along, getting fully into character. You tugged Kai's sleeve to follow behind you. "C'mon Shnuckums! Let's go get our grandkids their Christmas presents!"

"Yes, Grannie.." Christmas presents? You know- at this point, Kai gave up even questioning it. If you did anything weird, he could always just tell the witnesses you had dementia.

----------

You were grateful to have activated your sight quirk ahead of time, because you would have been overwhelmed no doubt had you done so in the middle of all this chaos.

"Ooo! Organic flour! What a find! Huzbee! My old joints are positively killing me right now! Would you mind putting these in the cart for me~?"

The old man beside you huffed. "I know you're perfectly fine, lazy old hag." He bent down to pick up the flour off the bottom shelf anyway.

Gasp! "Hey I'm the one who's going to be cooking tonight's dinner! Helping out is the least you can do!"

"Like I wanna eat whatever the h### you bake." He set the flour in the cart. You had a very derpy, angry face fixated on him, sunglasses chilling on your head. "Is one enough?"

You stopped being angry to think. 🤔 "Hmm.. I might have to make some extras to pass out... Grab another one just in case."

Bending down to grab another, "Ugh, at this rate we're going to run out of budget for your present. What do you want anyway?"

"I'm still thinking about it; now hurry up, we need to reach the pasta sauce pronto!"

     "Pasta sauce?"

"Yeah! To mix in with the dough!"

"...Wha....? Yeah, I'm definitely not eating that."

     "You WILL, so help me!!"

----------

Kai with the shopping cart was trailing behind your frantic self as you searched the isles for sauce. Your new quirk made this process a whole lot easier, costing you a headache. You ignored it, however. Eventually, you knew you'd get used to this. And though the chaotic world was still a little blurry, it was getting clearer and clearer by the minute. Just took time.

"By the way, I was wondering if you could tell me where your dad's computer is hiding. Since, you know, I kind of need access to his info in order to use it."

"It's on the other side of the world." Mind already overwhelmed, you made some room to answer his question. "I'll see what I can do tonight to link it to yours somehow."

     "You can do that?"

"Dunno. There's probably a YouTube video out there about it or something."

     -_-

You found the right sauce without physically having to see it. Suddenly, you scampered down an isle, tugging the corner of the cart in after. "Hurry up, Huzbee, these things take time to bake!" And it was almost lunch already.

Following, "...Huzbee..? What even is that?"

"It's basically a butchered version of the English word for 'husband.'"

     "Oh.... Ew."

----------

"You keep stacking those until you have eight. I'm going to grab the Parmesan~!" Before the old man could utter anything, you ran off toward the cheese isle.

Scouring at the many options in search for the best, you didn't recognize the hero -- uniform and all -- sauntering around behind you. In his hand was a phone with a tracker, its target directly where you are. But.. the hero only saw an old lady!

Hawks searched the cheese isle a little more with no luck to be found. He finally sighed and flicked down the mic to his earpiece. "Yeah, we might have a code red. Hell's Little Princess isn't here." Keigo pried the headset from his head suddenly, distancing himself from all the commotion. Deciding he may as well investigate a little more just to be sure, Hawks stepped up behind you and looked up, squinting at the ceiling. "Guess she could be on the roof.. but I already checked... Maybe in the attic?" The hero mumbled. One of his feathers deployed and slipped into the vents just to be sure. Finally, he tapped your shoulder. "Um, excuse me, ma'am."

You were caught crawling into the cheese, trying to drag out the freshest cubes hiding at the very back. Tapped on the shoulder, you fell for the display below.

"Woah!" Keigo caught you, then chuckled. "Sorry to startle you."

"Oh, it's no biggie!" Arms full of cheese, you turned around to smile up at the man gently helping you to the ground. You gasped again upon recognizing him. "Keigo??"

Hawks' eyes bulged. The first thing he did was look all ways to make sure no one heard that, then set his confused eyes back on you. "(Y/n)!?"

     "Yah!" You nodded.

"You're.. You're OLD!" He pointed dramatically at you, drawing everyone's attention to the scene. You snorted and patted the teen's side.

(...definitely not a Ninjago reference. cough)

     "I know. I'm cuter like this, aren't I?"

     "H- how did you--?! Huh!?"

"Geez, calm down. Just a little quirk magic. Now, can you help me reach back there and grab the freshest Parmesan cheeses, sweetie?"

He blushed. He stuttered and stammered. Why, he even sweat nervously. Quickly, the hero called back into his earpiece. "False alarm guys! (Y/n)'s right here!" Hoarsely whispered. Hawks followed it up by quickly snapping a picture of you for evidence sake. And finally, he sighed in relief. "Whew... Sure thing, Miss."

While he was reaching back for the cheese, you decided now was the best time to interrogate him. "So why are you here anyways?"

"Oh! Just came to ask you a few things while you were out and about. You mind?"

"Depends on the questions I suppose.."

"Good answer." Laughing fakely, Hawks grabbed a few more cheese cubes and set them down on the pile already in your arms. "So! Do you know where Dr. Tsubasa is now?"

"Nope!" You nervously scampered away with the cheese. Hawks pursued, brows furrowing slightly.

"Hey, I saw you with him that night when we took down your dad! You're hiding him somewhere, aren't you?"

Your stubby legs couldn't flee as fast as before. Hhh, not like this was the kind of thing to run from without consequence. You slowed just enough so the young hero could walk beside you, hands in his pockets despite the urgency in his steps.

"Hhh, I'm telling the truth when I say I don't know where he is." You were. He could be going out for lunch right now, and you don't know where~ exactly he would go for nutrition. Basing your lie upon that made it sound all the more true. "My dad broke him out and hid the doc up in a secret base I don't know about. Since, you know, I had him arrested last time." You shrugged. "Anywho, the only way I was able to snag him before was by pretending to be my dad in order to draw the man out into the open and ensnare him. A trick, which, I won't be able to replicate now that my old man's been safely locked away."

Hawks rubbed his chin, finding the story plausible enough. His distrust in you seemed to fade again as he mulled it over. "Hmm, alright... What about this Izuku kid your dad mentioned yesterday?"

"Ugh.. Oh please. He's just a kid I was helping train since he really wanted to become a hero. My contact with him was severed after I was arrested, so you don't have to worry about him."

     "Interesting.."

"It really isn't. He was just an average kid and I was just bored at the right time and place to offer him some help."

     "No ulterior motives?"

"Nooo..?" You side eyed the elder teen. He got the message and backed off of the topic.

     "Fine then. And the blueprints?"

"Still don't know what he was talking about. If I find them, I'll be sure to give them to you guys though."

"Much appreciated~!" Keigo was leaning forward to smile at you when suddenly someone stepped out of the isle with a half full shopping cart. The hero stood tall by the time the person pushing that cart appeared around the corner. Both pairs of golden eyes locked and instantly silence fell upon the market. Keigo's whole body started to shake. He couldn't pull his attention away from the villain. Though the man was old like you now, there was no mistaking those cold, calloused eyes of his. Keigo grabbed your shoulder and, still staring at the man, backed away slowly. You tugged yourself from the lad, however, hurrying over to drop all the cheese into the old man's cart. Keigo could hear his own heartbeat, mind spinning as he watched you stand so comfortably beside that monster! Kai's eyes were practically glowing in the hero's darkening vision. The warning glare his most terrifying feature.

Recognizing the tension between them was so thick it was almost visible, you thought up a way to diffuse the encounter peacefully and quickly.

"Huzbee, I still need some ground beef! Mind getting some~?"

Kai blinked, the hostile intensity in his stare instantly fading the moment he turned to you. "How much?"

"Four should be enough! I'll walk with this nice hero here to the checkout and wait for you there~"

"Ugh, can't believe I'm wasting this much money on garbage." The old man grumbled, stepping away. Keigo froze in place, unable to move as their shoulders brushed against one another. The whole time, Kai fixed him with another ominous glare. The kid's stare lingered in that direction, even as Kai slipped out of sight. He was startled this time when you tapped his arm.

"Aeep!- Hmh, sorry." He looked down at you, still not used to that, and chuckled sheepishly. Your new sight showed you his every sign of nervousness, however. There was very little he could hide from you anymore. You stared into his eyes with a deep, empathetic look.

You took his hand and hugged it, pressing the side of your face to it while sighing sadly. "Again, I'm sorry.. I'll warn you next time he comes around."

Keigo faked another laugh and smile, pulling his hand free. "It's no problem, really! I wasn't even nervous! Just making sure the guy wasn't bothering you."

"Hm.." You knew he was lying, but, whatever. You shoved the cart of groceries his way. "Mind pushing the cart for me, sweetheart~"

     Hawks happily obliged.

With all the oos and awes the young hero was getting for helping you out, it was no secret this little stunt would only boost his popularity. Hawks, the youngest hero to reach the top ten being humble by helping an old Grannie with her shopping. How cute indeed. You didn't mind the extra labor, and it was nice getting to see Hawks in a relaxed atmosphere for once. Too often did you see him whenever fighting or interrogations of some kind were involved. It was heartwarming to watch him doing completely mundane things like assisting you at the checkout and fumbling over how to bag everything safely. You were kind enough to tutor him through that. Indeed, what great wisdom you held.

As Kai returned with the flesh, you warned Keigo ahead of time. The young man was peeved to find the young hero still hanging around you. He was about ready to shoo the bird off when you ran up and playfully slapped him on the wrist, forcing his mind to think about where to go for your birthday present instead. He had no ideas. Neither did you. Even Hawks was at a loss. The only one who had a clue what you might like was you, and well, your head was empty..

You and Kai walked side-by-side around in the outside mall. It was like a really compact city full of shops in here! Surely, you would get some ideas from walking around. Keigo followed behind. You'd convinced him to carry all of your grocery bags as retribution for the time you carried all of his crap around. The other reason he agreed was simply because two old people carrying around this much baggage just looked sad. However, Keigo had a secret third reason to follow along... He wanted to keep a watchful eye and listening ear out for any signs Kai might be abusing you. That, or any other reason he could come up with to storm the Shie Hassaikai base. So far, your banter with the Yakuza member was tame but personal. It was pretty clear you two were used to punching each other's buttons. So much that you often didn't have to give it much thought before an insult came to mind. And, rude as it was, it sadly wasn't the sign of an abusive relationship the young hero was looking for.

On the contrary... ̄ω ̄" You guys acted just like an old married couple, twice divorced, three times married. Kai even did the old man "huh?" while turning to squint at things you pointed out to him. He'd more often than not find a way to insult whatever you thought might be worth his time glancing at.

"Wait-!" You stuck your arm out, barring off the old man from passing you. Your eyes sparkled as they turned to the gaming shop. In the window was the brand new gaming console Tenko always geeked out about. But then the light in your eyes dyed out. You couldn't see screens still, so it was pointless... Aw man.. You were going to miss those late nights gaming with your friends.

Wait, but.. Tenko was probably too poor to get the gaming console, and today was your birthday! You could probably convince anyone of anything! So.. why not get something for him instead of yourself? That would make you much happier to know you were able to make someone else happy, rather than just getting something you didn't really care about!

"Oo! Oo! Let's get the LHX458pro!" You tugged on Kai's sleeve for him to follow.

Kai scowled. "What do you mean? You can't even see screens yet."

Tugging on the man's sleeve now, "Well, I don't know what I want, but an old friend of mine has been raving about this thing for months!"

Tugging back, "You mean one of the friends who abandoned you and made you go insane?? You seriously want to reward them for that??"

"Just buy it already! I know you don't really care about what I get!"

"Yeah and I also hold grudges easy!"

     "And I don't!"

"Sheeesh!" Keigo stepped in, prying the oldies apart before you started fighting for real. "Will you old grazers calm down already? It's just a gaming console." Both you and Kai glared at each other, arguing more about this with your stares. Finally, the old man sighed and gave up.

"Ughhh, fine then. At least we can go home sooner than later." The old man then wandered into the store. You followed in after. Keigo waited outside as the two of you bought the right console, claiming it was for your grandson. By the time you left with the new package, the young hero was gone. Kai growled. "That good for nothing brat!"

"Maybe he just had to go to the bathroom?"

"Without telling us?? Likely story." The old man was about ready to go on a rampage when suddenly the young hero jumped down from a roof and soared toward you. He panted, having raced all the way here.

"Sorry for running off like that! I just thought of a present for you, (Y/n)!" The young man was smiling, dropping some of the bags on the ground as he reached into his jacket pocket. You tilted your head, stepping nearer. Kai stopped you from leaning in too closely. Keigo pulled out a small silver cube. "It's a Nano Cube! Using new experimental technology to make a programmable fidget toy. I have one of these at home, so I thought you might like one too." He dropped the cube into your hands. It bounced like gelatin. You started fidgeting with it, stretching and squishing the cube. Felt like it was made out of really soft, flexible sand. Keigo leaned in some to whisper in your ear. "If you want me to, I know how to bypass the firewall and program it to form a knife~" You gasped up and smiled at the elder, who smirked and winked at ya. "Consider it my thanks.. for saving my life the other day. ... You sure are confusing, but I know you're a good person.. I probably wouldn't be alive today if it weren't for you. ... (Y/n).?"

Your blind eyes were red and stinging. You sniffed and wiped the miniscule tears away, aiming your face downward to hide the tightening of your facial features. "..Thanks man."

Once your energy turned from this emotional moment, you were hit with a wave of pain in your head. Stinging. Cracking through your skull. "I think.." Deactivating your sight quirk, you pulled the sunglasses down over your eyes. "...think I've seen too much today.. My head hurts.." Your body swayed. Both Kai and Keigo caught you before you could fall. They glared at each other while helping to your feet. "M' tired.." you'd given up trying to stand on your own. "This old hag's gunna need a little nap..." You yawned.

Kai and Hawks stared between each other for a moment. In the silence, they agreed to help each other out for your sake. Kai carried all the groceries and Keigo carried you on his back. You mumbled an apology to them both but neither were offended. The three of you walked in absolute silence toward the car.

"Thanks for helping, Keigo.." You whispered.

"Maybe you shouldn't use that name so openly, especially out in public?" The hero whispered back over his shoulder. You were just a little wrinkly pudding Grannie, though. There was nothing about you he could stay angry at.

"Oh.. yeah. I'm sorry. Guess I'll just call you Sunny. Sunny or Shnuckums."

     "Psh. Alright, Grannie."

     "Oh...and..?"

     "..Yeah?"

. . .

Took you a moment of debating whether or not you should even bring this up so early.

"If you know where Aizawa is, could ya tell me..? I know of a quirk that'll fix his eyes.. If you could at the very least pass that information on to him, that would be much appreciated."

"Hm... I'll see what I can do."

     "Thanks, Sunny.."

By the time you reached the car, you'd fallen fast asleep.

Hawks had a pleased smile on his face after setting you in the back to lye down again. "Hmh." He then half glared over at Kai, who was loading everything into the trunk, no longer an old man. "Take care of her."

"What makes you think I don't already?" The elder stared coldly over at the young hero, who flinched by it.

"I- I mean she's clearly lost a lot recently. Friends, family, the will to live."

Grunting while setting a heavy bag into the back. "I know that already. Who do you think sent her to the hospital in the first place..?" Glaring at Hawks again, "You seem to know a lot about what she's going through. A lot more than a mere acquaintance should..." Keigo bit the inside elf his cheek. "You've put her through enough stress. Stop stalking her; or seeing her for that matter. .. I might just have to take things into my own hands if you keep it up." Kai was very careful with his words, delivering a threat that was effective while also lacking any clues or hints to what he may have done before. Hawks understood well and backed away sheepishly.

"I never meant anything bad by it, promise!" Obviously faking his grin.

"Well if you actually knew (Y/n), you'd know she doesn't care for promises or apologies. The only things that matter to her are your actions... So, keep your distance. That'll leave her at ease more than anything else."

Hawks' brows furrowed as he spun around and strode away. He recalled just today when you hugged, nearly kissed his hand. Tch, yeah right. Unlikely that you hadn't forgiven him already. But, even if you hadn't..

Like h### he was going to leave (Y/n) alone in the tower with that dragon. No, he wasn't the kind of person to let someone suffer alone.

That was his very reason for becoming a hero, after all.

Your situation was tricky, but the young hero was determined to save you.

---------------

You woke slowly with a mild headache. Back to your normal self, though a little shrunk. The bed was so soft.. You came-to face down in your bed, hugging a large pillow. Your sleep was so deep, you wiped a stream of drool off your cheek after waking.

You sat up suddenly. "Holy #### I hope I didn't sleep in too late!" Kai wouldn't wake you up. In fact, it was probably his plan to let you sleep in too late, then just suggest you order takeout for the party. YOU WOULDN'T LET HIM WIN!

"KAI, HOW LONG WAS I ASLEEP!?" You slid into the living room where the man was watching TV with a couple others. He side eyed you annoyingly.

     "Uh. Two hours?"

"Oh, okay that's actually pretty good... BUT NOT NEARLY GOOD ENOUGH! I MUST BE QUICKLY!" You stormed into the kitchen, happy to find everything you needed was either on the counter-top or in the fridge.

"Have you even eaten yet today??" The young man called.

     "Not enough time!"

"Hey! Pops specifically ordered you to take care of yourself!"

     "Cool! I'll do that eventually!"

"Ghhh.." The man rose from the couch and entered the kitchen. You were already covering one of the countertops in a layer of flour. "Alright, what are you doing?"

"Preparing a place to roll out the dough."

     "No you're not. You're making a mess."

"It's all part of the process~"

     "Please stop the process."

     "No!"

     -_-

Kai put together the simplest of ramen to cook while you did... whatever you were doing. You explained to the man that it wasn't really a Calzone; more like an overly complicated rice ball with dough instead of rice and a hecking ton of cheese. Oh and also carrots. Can't forget all the shredded carrots. The man watched you curiously from his post as you crafted your monstrosity. You noticed him guarding the tiny baby pot of water every time you passed, probably wanting to avoid a repeat of last time you boiled anything.

When Kai was no longer scrutinizing your every decision in this endeavor of yours, he sighed and stirred the noodles. "Thanks.. by the way."

     "Hm? For what?"

"For standing up for me.. for us. I.. heard about how you were interrogated by heroes. They were trying to find evidence to arrest us with, right?. I was the one who put our family in jeopardy by antagonizing a hero like that. And you were the one who had to deal with the consequences... Thanks for standing strong. It really means a lot."

Your heart was touched. Feeling all warm inside, you just had to hug the guy! Even when you knew he hated it! "Awhh, come here!" You wrapped your arms around the man, back to being big now, and gave him a gentle but inescapable squeeze. His arms were trapped in such a way that he couldn't pry out either.

"Ughh! I'll kill you, let go of me!"

     "Heh, no you won't~!"

"Oh yeah~?" He slipped off one of his gloves.

"Eep!" You didn't let go, but you did turn invisible instantly. You were right though. The man wouldn't have killed you even if he was able to. He sighed in defeat, counting down the seconds until he'd be freed. Seven slow seconds later, you released him. "Sorry for that! Guess I just needed to hug someone." Awkward now, you walked to the sink to wash off your hands. Only now did Kai notice they were covered in flour. He grimaced, tearing off his jacket at once.

"I swear.. if this doesn't wash out, you're paying for a new one."

     "But I'm broke!" You squeaked.

     "Then make money."

"Bhbbdbabheb. Eh, it's just flour anyways. It'll wash out."

"Sure.. sure." What??? You weren't lying! And how were you supposed to make money anyway!? You were living in a psych ward!!!

----------

After you'd made plenty of Calzone roll things, you slid the first half into the ovens to bake and handed off the other half to a servant to bake in the other kitchen. While you waited, you ate ramen, only realizing how hungry you were after you'd taken your first bite.

Then, you joined the dudes on the couches and "watched" baseball with them.

As you waited for the main dish to bake, you asked for some of the other members to help go shopping for other snacks and treats you might need. There was no time for decorating, but that was alright. You were never the decorating type to begin with. And your head hurts too much by now to use your sight quirk anymore.

By the time those calzones were done baking and everything from the snacks to the cake were here, it was about time for the party to commence.

----------------

"(Y/N)!!!" Himiko screeched in delight as she ran with open arms toward you. You knelt on one knee, opening your arms so it was easy for the girl to tackle you in a hug. She squeezed the remaining life out of you, burying her face in your shoulder. "I missed you so much!!"

"Awh.." You hugged her back, just as tightly, one hand brushing through the little girl's hair.. What were you thinking?? Letting Himi go like that. All the same though, you kinda needed some time to yourself. Especially while you were sorting through what easily could have been the toughest moments in your life! "I'm so glad you're back, Himi.." Himiko sniffled. She agreed.

After Himiko, an overjoyed Jin grabbed you from the ground and yanked you to your feet, so glad you were okay too as he gave you a tight squeeze, patting you on the back like an old friend. You copied the boyish hug, chuckling. And finally, you found the quiet you2 standing in the background and gave her a hug as well. Her whole body was tense, unsure of how to react to you and your whole situation quite yet.

From there, the birthday party commenced. It was a simple one. Everyone entertained themselves by finding people to talk to. Mostly, everyone hung near you for conversation. This was weird. You were usually the outlier in group conversation, so being in the center of it all of a sudden was so nerve wracking. You managed decently, though there were a few different conversations happening at the same time to follow along with. That made it especially difficult.

Kai hung back through most of it, watching Jin closely, listening to hear if he brought up anything he didn't already know about (Y/n). For the most part. No. Jin didn't have much new to add to his catalog but a few old stories about you. All of which sounded so like you. That, at the very least, meant you weren't acting while around him. That was a comforting discovery. At the same time though, it meant you hadn't matured much these recent years.

When everyone had caught up and nearly eaten up all the snacks, it was time to pull out the main dish. You didn't want everyone to sit around suspensefully before digging into an absolutely mundane meal, so you just went around passing the calzones out. Kai was the last one to be handed one. You offered him the large, pinkish loaf in a napkin. One which people were already chowing down on.

Kai stared at you, unmoving, even as you nudged him with the Calzone several times. You frowned. "Stop ignoring it, idiot! I may be blind right now, but I know you're looking at me!"

"Only if you shrink again." Didn't know why he made this the hill to die on, but he did.

"Huh??.. Hmf, 'kay fine." You shrunk again to a smaller height, earning you a pat on the head. You knocked his hand off this time. "Just eat it already!" Kai snatched the bread away from you and held it. You frowned at him.

     "What?"

"I don't hear you eating it."

His mask still on, Kai brought the Calzone to his mouth and pretended like he was eating it, not trying to fool anyone. "Numnumnumnum."

     "Grrrr!"

"Okay but how do I know you didn't sneeze or cough on it, or that you washed your hands every time you touched something else, or that you-?"

"-I know you have a germ thing! Because of that, I was extra careful not to get the food dirty! You have my word. That Calzone right there is the cleanest thing I ever made."

Kai's half glare softened a little... Guess he already had the proof. After all, he was in the kitchen with you for the majority of it, and you really were extra careful to wash your hands religiously, hold in any coughs or sneezes, and use the cleanest of tools as you worked. In fact, you probably were more diligent about staying clean than the staff paid to cook here! He noticed that, but he didn't really recognize it until now.

The young man tore off his mask and folded it into his pocket, then leaned his head in to take a bite. His eyes widened slightly. Surprisingly, all the odd ingredients you had thrown in blended together rather nicely. Certainly wasn't the best thing he'd ever eaten, but, it wasn't bad. It was actually pretty good, surprisingly. The carrots, instead of ruining the whole thing, offered a hint of sweetness. The taste and texture were so different from anything he'd eaten before. Matching with your personality, he supposed.

     "Hm. It's alright I guess."

"Yusss!" You took that a as a victory. "Make sure to blow on it every now and then. Those things are really good at keeping the meat in the center hot." You turned away to grab one yourself.

Kai nodded, his mouth full. "Mh, will do."

You ate at least three calzones to make up for the meals lost today, then used your portal quirk to help ship a few spare calzones to others as you'd planned. A couple to the Midoriyas, and a few to the Shimuras. You would send one to Hawks, but you weren't sure if he would even be allowed to eat it or not. Oh well. More for you and your guests here!

After everyone had eaten their full, they all gathered around the small table where the cake and ice cream was. There was no singing thankfully, but everyone wished you a happy birthday and cheered as you blew out the candles.

Even though it felt like your skull was shattering every time you activated it, you activated your sight quirk just one more time. With it, you stared at all the smiling faces. Friends old and new. People who still cared about you, even after everything you'd done... Your eyes reddened again, tears making your faded pupils sparkle.

Guess you weren't as alone as you thought.

---------------

"Tenkooooo! There's a box by the door with your name on it!" Hana called the moment she entered through the front door. Shaking off her shoes, she smiled as the sound of thumping footsteps came to reach her.

Shooting out of the hall, "I didn't order anything!" Tenko panted. His sister just shrugged and walked on, leaving Tenny to investigate the gifts himself. There were two boxes technically. One large rectangular one and another smaller, perfect cube. Tenko crouched on the front porch, picking up the small note taped to the top of the little box. "Crappy handwriting. Did a kid send me this?" Tenko thought back. Now that he thought about it, there was a little neighborhood girl, about seven years old, who always dove into bushes whenever he glanced her way. Eventually, he figured the girl might just have a little crush on him or something. Was this from her, then? "Maybe if you read it, that'll answer your question? Oh wow, what a novel idea. Quit talking to yourself, idiot."

The small note read, " 'Heyyy! Sorry if you already have this console! I, um, I was just passing by it today and thought of you. Also, sorry if my handwriting sucks. I'm kinda blind right now and can't see s###. Anywho, I also baked a calzone for everyone there. My own recipe. I hope they don't taste too bad! Oh, and this is (Y/n) by the way. I know it's my birthday today, but I felt bad about not getting to celebrate your birthday with you the past three years. Hope you can forgive me someday! Bye~!' "

Tenko was so shaken, he nearly forgot how to breathe. Slowly, he folded the note up and slid it into his pocket, then opened the smaller box to see what was inside. Wrapped in many layers of paper towels were the calzones. They were pretty big, actually. One was almost the size of his whole hand! Tenny sat on his knees, staring down at this singular treat in his hands. '...(Y/n) made this..? After everything I said to her?'

It was still warm, unlike his calloused, emo heart.

Tenko hugged the Americanized croissant, brought to tears by the warmth of her kindness. He almost cried aloud right there on the spot, but stopped himself for fear of hurting his dinner and looking like an absolute wimp to any passing neighbors. He bit the bread while weeping bitterly. It tasted so good too. Like a pizza, but also a lasagna, but also carrots.. for some reason.

Frick hating (Y/n) anymore! If she were here, he'd probably propose marriage on the spot!

(Y/n) had this special kindness to her no one could explain. Not Kai, not Keigo, not Tenko, not Himiko or Jin or anyone! And the list of people who had experienced this kindness was so vast as well. She had a warmth that could melt the ice around any heart, without even trying no less!

And with that kindness alone... she changed the world.

3 To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
2 A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
3 A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
4 A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
7 A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
8 A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.

18 I said in my heart, "Concerning the condition of the sons of men, God tests them, that they may see that they themselves are like animals." 19 For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity. 20 All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust. 21 Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth? 22 So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?

18 Here is what I have seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him; for it is his heritage.

7 Go, eat your bread with joy,
And drink your wine with a merry heart; for God has already accepted your works.
8 Let your garments always be white,
And let your head lack no oil.

9 Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which He has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity; for that is your portion in life, and in the labor which you perform under the sun.

10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.

The Value of a Friend
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.
10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.
11 Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

. . book . .

Guess you had it right already..

Cliche as it sounds, it isn't about the journey. It's about the friends you make a long the way.
