Chapter Twenty-Four: Uh, go Team Magical Elements?
Angela woke up in shock from her dream. It was early in the morning, 7:00am to be accurate. She looked around her hotel room. The hotel room had red painted walls with white wood trims and white carpeting. It had three white wood beds with red sheets and pillows and an extra bedroom. It also had a flat screen tv, a small white kitchen and two bathrooms. Angela and her friends had divide up their sleeping arrangements since their weren't that many beds. The boys slept in the extra bedroom where each of them got their own bed and Angela and her friends had to draw sticks from outside to determine who got to sleep in the third bed by themselves. Angela drew the longest straw so she got the bed to herself, Maya and Lily shared a bed and Ellen and Sami had to share a bed (much to Sami's dismay). Her friends were still asleep, so Angela got up and rushed into the bathroom. She took a shower, got dressed and brushed her long brown hair. As she brushed her hair, she pondered over the unsettling dream she had. In her dream, she saw two babies. One of them was crying and the other one was completely still. Then a shadowy figure appears and draws his bare hands closer to the crying baby. She was very confused by the dream, but decided to worry about it later. She walked out of the bathroom and into the small kitchen. She found a few ingredients in the fridge to make breakfast with. Her friends woke up while she was making breakfast (Angela could tell they were awake by listening to Ellen and Sami argue about Ellen pushing Sami off the bed all night). When her friends entered the kitchen, they each picked up a plate of the breakfast she made. Angela had made everyone a plate of bacon and eggs with a side glass of milk. The girls were reluctant to eat it but the boys weren't so reluctant.
"Aren't you going to eat?" Asked Jesse quietly, "or is her cooking that terrible?"
The girls shook her heads.
"Actually, Angela is a pretty awesome cook," whispered Sami, "you haven't lived until you've tried her sugar cookies. It's better than the stuff they serve at Louie's."
Hiro took a bite from his egg.
"So what's the big deal? This stuff is awesome!" Said Hiro.
The rest of the boys shrugged and took a bite out of their eggs.
"So, how do you like it?" Said Angela as she came into the room with a cleaver knife.
The girls quickly took a bite of their eggs. The guys except Hiro, gagged the eggs back onto the plate.
"What kind of eggs are these?!" Said Barry as he scrapped the eggs off his tongue.
"Tofu eggs," said Angela.
The boys gagged.
Angela frowned. "Well if you don't like the eggs, than eat your bacon," said Angela.
Barry, Troy and Jesse took a bite out of the bacon and gagged it back up in disgust.
"I'm scared to drink the milk," whispered Troy to Lily.
"Actually, Angela doesn't drink soy milk, so it should be okay," whispered Lily.
Tears rolled down Angela's face. Her friends couldn't tell if they were real or not, but they still covered their eyes.
"Ahhhhh! Not the eyes!" They cried.
Jesse was unfazed by Angela's innocent eyes.
"You people are pathetic," muttered Jesse.
"How can you resist the face?!" They said, "have you no empathy?!"
"My empathy for fakers died a long time ago," said Jesse, "no offense Angela, but this breakfast sucks."
Angela wiped away her tears and her eyes flashed gray and she slammed the cleaver she was holding onto the table, only missing Jesse's hand by a few centimeters.
"Are you seriously going to give me that garbage attitude of yours about my cooking after I cooked breakfast for all you out of the goodness of my heart?!" She growled in a serious tone of voice.
Though Jesse didn't flinch, he forced himself to eat the rest of the tofu breakfast. The rest of the boys however were terrified and quickly began to eat the breakfast again. After all of them ate their breakfast, they headed to the Wizard Games colosseum. At the colosseum, the referees handed out necklaces made of black string and had completely white crystals. Many wizards were confused about what these necklaces, but some seem to have seen these necklaces before. When wizards asked what these necklaces were for, they said that all will be explained and said no more. After thirty minutes of waiting, the Game Masters appeared on the balcony.
"Greeting, young wizards to the first day of this year's Wizard Games!" Said Lionheart.
The crowds of wizard contestants and the people in the colosseum audience cheered very loudly. Sapphire held up a hand to signal silence. The audience and crowds quieted down.
"We know all of you are excited for the games, but first we must run through a few things," said Sapphire.
"For those of you in the audience, viewing the Wizard Games from home or those of you contestants with bad memories, we will run through the rules of the Wizard Games again," said Amethyst, "Four teams will battle against each other in each game, the number of team members participating for their team will be determined prior to the start of the game. Teams will be given points based on their placing in each event. The team in first place will receive three points, the team in second place will receive two points, the team in third place will receive one point and the team in last place will receive no points."
"Teams must accumulate at least six points in order to be safe to play again," said Emerald, "but if a team loses three rounds in a row, they will be immediately dismissed and removed from the competition."
"And after a series of challenges, the fighting portion of the competition will take place," said Diamond, "but as previously stated, the rules will be run through prior to the start of the fighting competition."
"Now then," said Ruby, "let us reveal all of the teams competing in these games."
A flat screen appeared below the balcony. Teams began to appear on the screen one by one along with the names and pictures of the team members. The Game Masters began to call out team names and the names of the members on the team.
"And our next team is Team Griffin with its members Brady Carter, Sawyer Grant, Ryder Soto, Adrianna Soto and Ariana Dean," announced Lionheart.
Bray, Sawyer, Ryder and the two other girls' photos appeared on the screen. One of the girls looked a lot like Ryder, but she looked a few years younger. She had olive skin, very short red hair and brown eyes. The other girl had curly black hair, pale skin and hazel eyes. She also looked only a year older then Ryder, Sawyer and Brady.
"Hey Barry, do you know who those two girls are?" Whispered Maya.
Barry nodded his head. "Yep, the girl with the red hair is Adrianna and the girl with black hair is Ariana," he said, "Adrianna is Ryder's eleven year old little sister and Adriana is Brady's stepsister. To be honest, I'm surprised Brady asked her to come and that Adriana actually came here. They must have been desperate because Brady and Adriana hate each other. It's not as severe as Jesse's hatred towards Jeanette, but more of a simple sibling rivalry thing. Their parents got married a few years ago, but they still hate each other. They fight constantly, so I have a feeling their team is not going to last very long in the Wizard Games."
Everyone nodded in agreement. The teams kept being announced and shown on the screen. After a while, Jeanette's picture appeared on the screen along with the members of her team. Jesse gritted his teeth as he saw Jeanette's picture on the screen.
"She's going down," he muttered angrily.
"Easy there, hothead," said Ellen, "save your anger for when we compete against her team."
Jesse shoved her away.
"I'd be careful," whispered Troy, "that hothead can easily turn you into a no head."
The next few teams then appeared on the screen afterwards. Alexia's team appeared on the screen and Carolyn's team appeared after. When Carolyn's team appeared on the screen, Troy looked totally love struck.
"She is beautiful," said Troy.
"You mean Carolyn?" Asked Maya.
Troy nodded his head while still staring at Carolyn's picture with infatuation.
"I think I'm in love," said Troy.
The rest of the gang sighed heavily.
"Not this again," they muttered.
"I thought you were in love with Jeanette," reminded Lily.
"Who?" Said Troy as he stared at Carolyn's picture. The guys gasped.
"This love has got to be real if he's not into Jeanette anymore," whispered Barry, "that's good news for you, Jesse. You don't have to worry about Troy becoming your brother in law."
Jesse and Hiro rolled their eyes.
Troy, don't even think about it, thought Hiro, I won't let you near Carolyn again!
What did Troy ever see in my sister anyway? Thought Jesse.
More teams appeared onto the screen. Twenty teams appeared on the screen after Carolyn's team.
"And now here's our next team," announced Ruby, "Team Dark Deceivers!"
The pictures of the team members appeared on the screen. The team was made up of two girls, two boys and one unknown fighter who wore a mask and a black cloak. The two girls had similar faces, but had different appearances. One of them had long red velvet hair, bronzed skin and blue eyes. The other one had long brown hair, bronzed skin and blue eyes. One of the boy fighters was a skinny guy with fair skin, long blood red hair and brown eyes. Jesse almost had a heart attack when he saw the boy with blood red hair.
That boy...., thought Jesse, I've seen him before! Should I warn the others?! No, if I do that I'm going to have to explain myself. Their going to ask me how I know and when. I also can't tell them because it can put them in danger! If the Dark One really is after the girls, then the less they know, the better. I don't want them involved, especially since.....wait, why do I care? It's not like they're my friends! I don't care if they get killed! But if I do tell them, Chaos will see it as an act of protection.....
"Hey Jesse, are you okay?" Said Lily, while snapping her fingers in front of Jesse's face.
Jesse looked up and saw Lily and the others staring at him with concerned looks. Jesse slapped Lily's hand away.
"Would you guys stop staring at me and stare at the screen instead?!" Growled Jesse.
They turned their attention towards the screen. Jesse sighed with relief. More and more teams appeared on the screen. After a few dozen teams, the last two teams were announced.
"We are down to our last two teams," said Sapphire, "these last two teams are quite interesting. Our first last team is Team Magical Elements!"
The crowds went wild after that announcement. The Magical Elements was a very popular team among the Wizard Games's audience. But after the pictures were shown on the screen, the cheering vanished and was replaced with shock outbursts, complaints and booing.
"Those aren't the Magical Elements!" Protested a person in the audience.
"They're total fakers!" Said another person in the audience.
"They are like total posers!" Said a girl contestant.
"Booooo!" Said a child in the audience.
"Imposters! Kill them with fire!" Yelled another contestant.
The gang were just as shocked as the audience and the crowd of contestants, because the faces on that screen were none of them. The faces on the screen were the faces of two young men, a twelve year old boy, five young women and a sixteen year old girl. The two young men both had black hair and pale skin, but they had different eye color. The twenty-two year old man had pale blue eyes and the eighteen year old man had tombstone gray eyes. Two of the young women both had fair skin, platinum blonde hair with white streaks and icy blue eyes. They both looked like they were twenty and looked like identical twins. The other three young women were twenty-two, nineteen and seventeen. All three of them had dark skin and black hair. Two of them had long straight hair and one had long curly hair. The twenty two year old woman had brown eyes like the seventeen year old but the nineteen year old had stormy gray eyes. The twelve year old boy had black hair, pale blue eyes and pale skin. He also had a scar line under his right eye. The sixteen year old girl had long black hair, a perfect tan (possibly spray on) and gray eyes.
"Anthony.......Dallas.........and Stewart......." Muttered Maya in shock.
"Josie and Kira........" Muttered Ellen in shock.
"Lyla.... Maddie.....and Suki....." Muttered Lily in shock.
The guys looked at them with confusion.
"I'm guessing you know them?" Asked Troy.
The girls nodded.
"Anthony, Dallas and Stewart are Maya's brothers," said Sami.
"Josie and Kira are Ellen's older sisters and Lyla, Maddie and Suki are Lily's three older sisters," explained Angela, "although, I have absolutely no idea who that one girl is."
The rest of the girls shrugged their shoulders in agreement.
"The members of this team are Anthony Deathstone, Dallas Deathstone, Stewart Deathstone, Josie Iceblade, Kira Iceblade, Lyla Stormblade, Maddie Stormblade, Suki Stormblade and Rylie Dawnstone!" Announced Sapphire.
Angela was completely speechless.
Dawnstone?! That's my father's last name! She thought, Why does she have my father's last name?! Could she be a member of my father's family?!
Angela's father came from a very wealthy wizard family in Wizard City. The Dawnstone family made their fortune by mining rare jewels and metals from all over the world and creating extraordinary jewelry, wands, staffs and many other products with the jewels and metals. The Dawnstone family's company is the second largest cooperations in the Wizard world. However, unlike the rest of the Dawnstone family who were refined, strict and rather snobbish, Angela's father was a rebel. He was uninterested in the family's business and that caused a dispute between him and his family. During his teen years, Angela's father was a wild troublemaker. He would grow out his hair until it was ridiculously long, wear white masks, skip school, run around with gangs, get into a lot of fights, and a lot of other troublemaking activities. Because of his rebellious behavior, it caused a rift between him and his family and they disowned him. This also caused Angela to have zero connections with her father's side of the family.
Maya gritted her teeth when she saw her brothers' picture on the screen. "What are they doing here?!" She growled, "they're supposed to be at home with Tyrone and Wes! And how'd the heck did Stewart get that scar?!"
"And now ladies and gentlemen, here's our last team," announced Emerald, "and here's a first for the Wizard Games, this team has the same name as the last team. Here are the members of Team Magical Elements! Angela Dawnstone, Christopher Snyder, Ellen Iceblade, Hiro Johnson, Jesse Taylor, Lily Stormblade, Maya Deathstone, Samantha Fireheart and Troy Davis!"
The gang's pictures appeared on the screen. The audience once again began booing and hissing.
"Copyright infringement!" Yelled a man in the audience.
"Show some originality!" Yelled another in the audience.
"What total posers!" Yelled a woman in the audience.
"Kill them with fire!" Shouted a little boy in the audience.
Angela smacked her hand against her forehead.
"Great, we're making fans right off the bat...." Muttered Angela.
The Game Masters silenced the crowd of competitors and the audience.
"Now, I bet most of you are wondering what those white crystals that the referees handed out earlier are for," said Amethyst.
"Those crystals are what will be used to transport you to the many areas where the first part of the Wizard Games will be held," said Ruby, "they must be worn at all times during competition hours or your team shall not compete."
"If a team member loses their crystal, then he or she will be temporarily suspended from competing until they find their crystal while the rest of the members of their team continues on without him or her," said Diamond.
"The crystal's destination will be controlled by us Game Masters," said Emerald, "your team will be transported to areas that are predetermined by us to await further instructions on each event you will be participating in from a Game Master or a referee."
"Now without further ado, let the Wizard Games begin!" Announced Lionheart.
The audience cheered and all of the competitors were magically transported to who knows what to begin their first game.
