Chapter Thirteen: The Sand Witch Part II

Everyone was woken up by Sami's screams.

"A snake!" She screamed before punching the snake in the face and sending it flying out of the tent.

The girls were cramped together in the tent. The tent was smaller than they first anticipated. Apparently the tent was only big enough to fit three people so they had to make do with what they had or two of them would have to sleep outside with Jesse. Of course, no one wanted to sleep outside, especially with Jesse. Apparently Jesse's deviated septum makes him snore like a family of bears. If it wasn't for the soundproof tents, no one would have gotten to sleep. Strange thing was that they couldn't hear Jesse snoring anymore and it wasn't because of the soundproof tents. Jesse probably was woken up by Sami's screaming when she woke up with a creepy floating snake in her face. Sami has always had a severe phobia of snakes. If she had to choose between being in a room with a snake and having a raincloud follow her all day, she would pick the raincloud.

"Dude chill, it's just a snake," said Lily, "I bet it's not even a poisonous snake."

"I don't care," said Sami, "that snake was creepier than those Rabats things we saw at the subway!"

"I hope you didn't kill it," said Angela.

Everyone looked at her.

"What?" Said Angela, "you guys know I love animals. And besides, that snake could have been an endangered species."

"It didn't look like it was endanger of anything," said Sami.

"Probably endanger of you killing it," said Lily.

"Not funny," said Sami, "is it still outside?"

"I'll go check," said Angela as she climbed over her friends, "you might punch it again on sight."

When Angela crawled out of the tent, she found the snake and an unexpected visitor, Sabrina the Sand Witch

"Sabrina!" She said in shock.

The witch chuckled.

"You and your little gang have a very busy day ahead of you," said Sabrina.

The black snake, Zephyros chuckled as well. "Busy day," he hissed.

"What are you doing here?!" Said Angela.

"I just can't take no for an answer," said Sabrina.

Troy, Hiro and Barry emerged from their tent.

"Hey Angela, what's going on?" Asked Troy.

Zephyros flew towards the guys. "Busy day," he hissed.

Barry punched Zephyros in the face and sent it flying backwards. "Beat it, scaly!" He said, "by the way Angela, isn't that girl-........"

"HOT, YES!" Said Troy as he gazed at Sabrina.

Hiro and Barry glared at him. "Dude, I was going to say she's the sand witch Angela was talking about!" Said Barry, "besides, I thought you were crushing on Jeanette."

"Who?" Said Troy as he continued to stare at Sabrina.

Barry sighed. "Never mind," he muttered.

"I must say, you've got a nice little campsite setup here," said Sabrina, "but something seems to be missing. Something that is very irritable, hot headed and has the deviated septum of a giant. Yes, something does seem to be missing."

"Or someone," hissed Zephyros.

"Probably still asleep," said Hiro, "Dude's a real heavy sleeper." Hiro looked up at the tree Jesse slept in last night. "Hey, Jesse is not in the tree!"

The gang quickly turned to the tree.

"Maybe he fell?" Said Maya.

Unfortunately, they were never that lucky. It didn't take them long to put two and two together.

"What did you do with him, Sabrina?!" Angela demanded.

"Why tell you? When I can show you," said Sabrina.

Sabrina snapped her fingers and the gang and she were gone in a flash. The gang left the campsite faster than blink of an eye. They were transported to an area that had sand everywhere like a dessert, it was blazing hot and they were in front of a black, malevolent looking castle. The gang prayed they didn't have to go inside, but considering their luck up until now that wish was impossible. The gang observed their surroundings.

"Um, anyone got a clue where we are?" Asked Lily.

"I believe I've read about this place," said Ellen, "we're either in the North, South, East or West Sand Witch Tribes."

"Ding ding ding!" Said Sabrina, "you are in the Western Sand Witch Tribe. I've brought you young wizards here because I have a job for all of you to do."

"First tell us where Jesse is!" Demanded Sami.

"Well, if the he's still alive, you would find him with the Black Dragon," said Sabrina.

"Black Dragon?" Asked the gang.

"Black Dragon dangerous," hissed Zephyros.

"Indeed it is," said Sabrina, "my little creature loves to devour magic as well as all things magical. Wizards, witches, spells, you name it. You see, I have big plans coming for the magic and human worlds but I first need a weapon that is unstoppable. That's where you young wizards come in. I want you to attempt to slay the dragon or die trying. It's a win for me either way."

The gang flinched.

"Are you some kind of insane madwoman?!" Panicked Sami.

"Why us?" Asked Ellen.

"Can't you get a human or someone non magical to do this?!" Asked Hiro, "if this beast devours magic, then to it, eight wizards trying to kill it will look like an all you can eat buffet in Vegas!"

"Other mortals have tried, all have failed. But I have a certain feeling that you young wizards might accomplish this task," explained Sabrina, "or die trying. Like I said, it's a win for me either way. If you kill the dragon, you will get your friend back and I'll get important research data. If all of you die, then I'll still get research data. Slay the beast, and you better do it before breakfast time if you want your friend to, well you know, live."

The gang exchanged looks and nodded together in agreement. "We'll do it," they said in agreement.

The doors opened slowly. When they walked in, they couldn't tell what was worse, the outside of the castle or the inside. The interior was like what you would expect from your average everyday witch's castle. Malevolent, creepy and gothic and a bunch of dark magic stuff. The doors slammed shut behind them. They all gulped.

"Why do people build places like this?" Asked Barry scared.

Ellen shrugged. "Beats me," she said, "must be a representation of evil's twisted mind."

"Well, I like it," said Maya.

None of them were surprised, most death wizards like places like this castle.

"Okay, let's not admire this castle's decor all day," said Lily, "we need to find Jesse before the dragon eats him."

"Why are we even helping him anyway?" Asked Sami.

They turned towards her. Sami shrugged.

"Hey, I'm just saying ever since we arrived in Wizard City, he hasn't been very nice to any of us," she said, "it's obvious he doesn't consider any of us as his friends. So why should we?"

"Don't say that!" Said Troy, "look, Jesse may not be the friendliest person in the world...."

"Or helpful, he didn't help Angela at all when the griffin attacked Wizard City," reminded Lily.

Troy sighed. "My point is....."

"And you have to admit Angela, he wasn't very nice to you at all," interrupted Ellen, "yet here you are trying to save his skin."

"C'mon guys, we got to help him," pleaded Barry, "he's my best friend!"

"Hey!" Complained Hiro and Troy.

"One of my best friends," corrected Barry, "And you guys haven't known Jesse for as long as I have. Sure most of the time he says he hates us, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't mean it all the time."

Sami rolled her eyes. "Oh, well that changes everything! Not!" She said.

Angela couldn't stand to watch them argue over if they're going to save Jesse or not. She was also furious at her friends for being like this when a life was on the line. Her eyes flashed to gray and she stomped her staff hard onto the ground.

"Enough!" Angela yelled.

Everyone became quiet and looked kinda scared of Angela.

"Do you people realize that an innocent life is on the line?!" She growled in a serious tone of voice, "or are you people so blinded by your grudge against Jesse you do not realize that?! You all are being selfish and immature! Do you know why we save lives?!"

Her friends were to terrified to answer her question.

"It's because a wizard's duty to protect innocent lives!" Yelled Angela, "do you think that any of the people we saved were our best friends? Do they have to be friends for us to save them?! No! I am going to save Jesse regardless of that garbage attitude he's been giving me! I don't care if you help me or not! And I won't let any of you stop me from saving him!"

She was about to leave when Ellen grabbed her shoulder.

"Dude, we're not letting you face a magic eating dragon alone," said Ellen, "we're a team. I'll go."

"I'll go too, but Jesse owes me big time for this," said Sami.

"I'll also go," said Maya and Lily together.

"Don't leave the guys out of this," said Hiro, "he is our sort of best friend."

The anger in Angela suddenly subsided. Her eyes turned blue again. Her face turned red with embarrassment instead of anger and she twirled a piece of her long hair.

"Uh thanks, and uh...sorry for calling you guys selfish and immature," she said nervously, "it was just my anger talking. Anyway, if we're going to do this, here's what we'll do. We'll split up into two teams. One will look for Jesse, and the other will look for the dragon. Ellen, Maya and Sami can look for the dragon."

Ellen, Maya and Sami sighed with relief.

"Wait, why isn't Sami on the dragon hunting team?" Asked Lily, "what if the dragon breathes fire? We could use Sami as a shield since she is immune to fire."

Sami's hair ignited and moved like an out of control flame. Fireballs were conjured from her hands.

"I'll give you a human shield!" She said in a demonic voice.

Angela pointed her staff at Sami. Her eyes flashed gray again.

"Drop it....." She growled.

Sami quickly put extinguished her fireballs and her hair. Angela's eyes flashed back to blue.

"The rest of us will look for the dragon," continued Angela, "and if you find a signal, just fire a signal Sami or scream like a banshee again."

Everyone except for Sami laughed. After discussing the rest of the details of the plan, they parted ways and searched for Jesse and the dragon.
