Chapter 1: A Mágico Start
Rosa Ortiz, a young girl living in San Antonio, Texas, a mostly Hispanic city, but she's not entirely normal, she does go to school, she has friends, lives with her nuclear family, and she does average when it comes to said school, being a B average student, she even hangs out with the most popular girl in her school, Isabel Perez. One day, near the beginning of the school year, Rosa, Isabel, and all their friends got in trouble at school trying to leave school property by jumping the fence near the school. "Welcome parents, I'm glad you could all be here today, your children true d to jump the school's fence so they could leave early," the principal had explained. All the children's parent me if arguing over who's fault it was and that their children were innocent. "Enough!!!! We shouldn't be playing the blame game here!! We have security camera footage to show who it was!!" The tape began to play as it showed the children eating lunch together in the cafeteria as Isabel was talking about escaping the school and peer pressuring into doing it. The friends came close to the fence and Isabel hopped it successfully. Rosa was next and she was a bit hesitant at first, but got them caught by one of the teachers. "See padre, madre, it was Rosa, she was the one who got me caught, I mean, made me do it," the blonde haired girl said to her parents. "Principal Romero, our niña is a sweet little angel at home, so she would never peer pressure anybody, I think it was Rosa who forced her into doing this, so you should punish her instead of our little ángel," Mrs. Perez told the principal. The other parents thought it was Rosa who influenced Isabel. "But I didn't do it, no way!!!!" The young girl shouted. "She's right Principal Romero, mi hija would never act out of line like that, so you should blame Isabel, there's no security footage to probe me wrong," Mr. Ortiz said with confidence. After looking through the footage, Rosa was proven innocent and Isabel was suspended for a week.
After the talk with the parents and principal, Rosa and her dad went home where Mrs. Ortiz was waiting for them. "So, how did things go with Principal Romero?" She asked. "It went innocent as usual, Isabel got suspended for a week," Rosa told her. "That's great, I think, but real talk for un segundo, don't hang around Isabel anymore promesa?" Her mother replied. "Promesa," the young girl replied.
Later on, Rosa was reading books online about witches, spells and magic until she got a video call from her friend Esteban. "Hola Rosa," he said. "Buenos tardes Esteban, what's up?" She asked her friend. "Isabel sent us texts saying meet me at the alleyway in an hour, did you get it?" Esteban replied. "Oh, I blocked her from my contacts, I made a promesa to my mom to not hang around her anymore and I don't wanna break my madre's heart," the girl explained. "Ok then, you, Hasta luego," he exited the chat. Rosa was bored out of her mind, no more books to read, nothing on TV, dinner wasn't for a few hours, there was nothing. Outside the house, a shadowy figure was looking through the girl's attention. "Mom!! Mother!!! Madre!! Mamá!!!!" She shouted to get her mother's attention, but she couldn't hear her. When she knew her mom wasn't coming, she went to go check on it herself, finding a beast that looks just like a giant crow. "Ahh!!!! Don't eat me!!! I'm only thirteen!!!!!!" She screamed at the monster. "Eat you? I'm not insane!!!!!" The beast said, revealing itself to be a woman with black hair, pale skin and pointed ears. "You're not a giant crow beast!!!! Gracias a dios!!!" Rosa said, relieved. "Gracias a dios? Is that some kind of pray?" The lady asked. "No, gracias a dios is Spanish for thank goodness," the young girl explained. "And Spanish is some kind of human to demon communication language?" The lady assumed. "Spanish is a language from the country of Spain, it's used in countries and territories other than Spain," the teen explained. "Wow, so that's the gibberish I hear humans say when rummaging through their garbage," the lady explained. "Yeah, so anyway I'm Rosa Ortiz, you?" The girl asked. "I'm Dolores Winglin, bird witch extraordinaire," the lady brought out a broom and summoned birds of all kinds. "Wow, you remind me of the protagonist of my favorite book series Brujas De Animales!!!" The teen cheered. After hearing noises, a few police officers came and found Rosa and Dolores. "There she is, that's the lady who rummaged through my trash cans last night," one of them said. "Cops, oh, lo siento for anything Dolores and I did wrong," the girl admitted. "You did nothing wrong kid!!! We're after the crow lady, she's been rummaging through garbage cans all over town, and we finally caught her, thanks to you," the officers cuffedDolores and took her away. "Rosa!!!! You betrayed me!!!!!" The witch yelled. "Dolores!!!! I'm very sorry!!!!!" Rosa shouted, feeling guilty for what she did.
The next day, Rosa was outside of the school, still thinking about what happened last night. "I'm sorry Dolores," she said to herself. "Who's Dolores?" Esteban asked her. "Well, I met this weird crow lady digging through my garbage last night and I accidentally got her arrested," Rosa explained to her friend. "So that's who was going through my garbage a while ago," he realized.
"Hey you guys," a familiar voice said to the two. "Well well well, if it isn't ol' Chica De Promesa, Rosa Ortiz." "That voice, it's, Isabel!!!!!!" Rosa said. "Hola Rosa, long time no ver," Isabel said to her. "What do you want Perez?" Esteban asked. "Oh nothing, I saw the news last night and you're una heroína for arresting that mean old crow lady, bravo!!!!" The girl told her, making Rosa feel guilty. "She's not mean!!!! She's just different!!! She's a witch!!!!!" The girl shouted in anger, running off. "See you luego for my school changing Esteban?" The blonde haired girl asked. "No thanks, I'm good," he replied. "If you say so."
Esteban ran after Rosa, who was sitting near the trash can that she found Dolores in. "You ok chica?" He asked. "No, I feel guilty, I wish I could bring Dolores back," she sighed. "Dolores? Like Dolores Winglin?" A voice in the can asked the two. "Yeah, do you know her?" Rosa replied. "Know her, I'm her roommate, my name is Elaine," the voice was revealed to come from a tiny black cat. "Perfect!!! I'm Rosa, this is Esteban, we're friends of Dolores!!!!!!!" The teen girl exclaimed. "Good, I had something very important to tell her, so lead me to her," Elaine climbed out of the trash can and into Rosa's arms. "Muy linda!!!!" The teen girl held tightly onto the tiny cat. The three went to the prison where it looked like Dolores had just broken out with a rug and a circle. "Too easy, prison is overrated anyway," the witch remarked. The children and cat spotted the old witch and each gave her a hug. "What's this a welcoming party?" she said. "No, I came to apologize, I didn't mean what happened last night," Rosa replied. "Oh, I know you didn't mean it Rosa, I was just jokin'," the witch chuckled. "Great good whatever, anyway, our landlord just evicted us back in our dimension!!!!" Elaine said. "What?!? I guess we have nowhere to live now!!!!!!" The old lady shouted. "I'll ask my mom and you could live with me and my familia," Rosa told her. "Perfect kid, I like your style."
After asking her mom, and sorting things out with the police, Dolores and Elaine moved into the Ortiz house. "Alright now that I've unpacked I should add a little something to your house," the witch said. "Like what?" Mrs. Ortiz asks. Dolores pulled up a red rug, placed it firmly on the ground, drew two blue circles with her finger and created a portal that replaced the basement door. "Wow!!!" Rosa said. "And even better, I can teach your daughter how to be a witch," the lady said. "Por favor?" The teen replied. "Sure, if she's interested," She answered. "Oh, it's 11 o'clock already, I suggest we all head to bed," Mr. Ortiz said. "Goodnight then," Rosa said as she got herself ready for bed.
