Chapter 12: Fear
The following day, the students were busy trying to look for the Ice-Cold wizard, wanting to see or meet him. No matter how hard they tried, he couldn't be seen.
"So, where could he be?" Denmark asks as they go on to their next lesson. It would be the Defence Against the Dark Arts with their new teacher, R.J Lupin.
"Norge would be outside the school premises, watching the Dementors and school grounds... Or he would be silently watching The-Boy-Who-Lived." England replied, leading them to a room.
Once everyone was settled, they all concentrated on the old wardrobe in front of them that's been shaking to the right and left. The doors of the wardrobe are mirrors, reflecting everything in front.
"Can anyone take a guess on what's inside?" Professor Lupin asked the class as he walks around.
England immediately made a few steps backward, knowing what's inside the wardrobe. He doesn't want anyone knowing his fear, especially the Nations. That day still haunts him until now. Whenever someone would speak of it, he coughs up blood and becomes ill, and when the certain day is close England is a wreck.
"It's a boggart." Romania grinned, wanting to have some fun. To him, Boggarts are entertainment.
"Very good Vladimir." Professor Lupin said.
"Seriously, you're becoming like Canada number two." Prussia said, looking at him from head to toe since they're just beside each other.
"I felt another tingling sensation that Scotty dear is up to no good." Romania looks at England, who's at the very back. He had a mischievous laugh, thinking of stealing the boggart and putting it in front of England after classes. Although, it won't end well for the Boggart if that happens.
"Now, what does a boggart look like?" Professor Lupin sees Hermione and calls her.
"Did you see her?" Ron says to Harry in disbelief. Hermione is standing next to him, but he didn't even see her.
"No one knows. They're shape shifters. They take the form of someone's fear and that's what makes them te-."
"Terrifying." Professor Lupin finished her sentenced. "Everyone, line up!"
The students followed him, with Neville being the first participant. England acts calmly as he walks to the very back of the line.
"Why do we need to line up? Harry?" Professor Lupin looks at him.
Harry tries to find the answer. "Because there are plenty of us... and it wouldn't know what it should take shape."
"Correct! That is why we have an advantage. And today, we're going to learn a charm that repels this creature. Everyone say, Riddikulus!"
"Riddikulus!"
Professor Lupin oriented everyone what to do. First up to practice is Neville, and the professor pushes him a few steps forward so that the Boggart would take shape of his fear instead of the rest.
The Boggart transferred to Professor Snape. Saying 'Riddikulus' Professor Snape was wearing old lady's clothes.
As the next people tries the spell, England immediately thought of the NMN. They were so concentrated on laughter that they forgot the most critical thing. They can't do magic! America was even in the very front, it would take three more people before him.
England leaves his spot and dashes to the front with some students yelling at him because he seemed like he's cutting in line. He made his way to America's side.
The brit placed his hands on America's shoulders. "Go to the back! You can't do this, you haven't achieved your magic yet!" He whispered. Behind them is Austria, and England doesn't have a problem with him listening to their conversation.
"What do you mean? I'm going to do this! I can do it since I'm the hero!" America says, tilting his head to one side.
"No! Remember the last time? You were embarrassed in public and it will happen again if you don't back away." England glances at the front. Two more people left. Harry is at their front.
"Trust me, I can do this!"
"No, listen to me! It is for your own good!"
"How do you even know if it is for my own good?"
"Because I just know!"
"Because you just know?! You wanted to control me! You stripped me from having rights and freedom!" America yelled and it caused everyone to look at their direction.
It interrupted their lesson for only a few seconds until the Boggart suddenly changes to a Dementor when it faced Harry. Everyone was horrified and the unforgiving creature made Harry and England stand still in fright.
It was about to suck their energy until Professor Lupin went in front of Harry and the Boggart turned to a full moon. He casted the 'Riddikulus' spell and it shifted to a balloon, flying towards the wardrobe and Professor Lupin locked it inside.
Harry was scared of it, because of his first encounter with the Dementor in the train. England on the other hand had the thought of America leaving him, his fear. England fainted, feeling ill.
America just said something about his fear. And he himself thought of his fear.
The day America won his freedom left England with scars in his head, his mind. It never left, it stayed there... haunting him.
England doesn't know why. Is it because of that defeat that lead to the world acknowledging America as a great country? Is it because France helped America during that time and he doesn't get along with France? Is it because he has created a very strong country and regreted it? Is it because he had make a mistake in handling America? Or is it because he really cares for the growing Nation so much, and during that day that America left him... it was like he was torn apart?
Professor Lupin told that class is dismissed while the Nations surrounded England with worry.
"Now that's the end of the class! Collect your books and head back to the classroom!" Professor Lupin faces Harry for a moment and then shifts to England.
"I'm very sure that the Boggart did nothing. So what happened to Arthur?" He checks England to see if anything has happened to the student.
Professor Lupin knows Arthur, but only in his adult form because he was their superior. The student in front of him strikes an odd resemblance to his superior. Blond hair, green eyes, bushy eyebrows that no one could forget... He could be the younger brother of the great wizard, Lupin thought.
"He's probably tired and was shocked from the unexpected event." Canada smiles nervously, knowing the true reason.
Harry, who was still there, arrives at England's side with worry and guilt. "This is my fault, if I just didn't think of the Dementor none of this would have happened."
"Let's just take him to the infirmary so he would rest." Professor Lupin brings Arthur to the infirmary, ordering the students left to go back to the classroom and wait for further announcements.
Hungary, who's a Gryffindor and sees Harry everyday reassures him. "Don't think it's your fault, Harry. One cannot simply forget their fear. Knowing Arthur, he probably just fainted for some stupid reason. He's not afraid of Dementors so... Don't think too much about it, okay?"
Harry nods and they left to head back to their room. America on the otherhand felt a little guilt. Freedom is a sensitive topic for him even if it doesn't seem like it. Everything will probably be okay later, since that's how things goes between them.

After the class was over, the Nations hurriedly went to the infirmary to check on Arthur. When they entered, he was sitting straight up, drinking tea while reading a newspaper in bed.
"Thank goodness you're okay." Canada sighs in relief. He thought he would be seeing blood falling from his mouth.
When Arthur turns to their direction, he immediately sees America and coughs blood. I guess he's still not okay, Canada sweatdrops.
"Hahaha! If you just told me that you needed a companion because you're scared of Dementors, this wouldn't have happened!" America laughs.
No one knows if he really is stupidly oblivious or if he's actually caring. No need to bother anyway.
"W-What?! You git! I wasn't scared of that Dementor! Not even at the slightest! I just didn't have enough water and I was dehydrated, that's all!" England lies and turns his head to the opposite direction with his arms crossed.
"It's good to see that you're fine." Arthur heard Harry's voice and turned around. Harry was indeed there.
"Harry?"
"I was worried, and it's my fault that the Boggart turned to a Dementor. Sorry." He apologizes.
Arthur dismisses that thought. "It's not your fault. If anything, I was expecting to see You-Know-Who. You don't need to apologize, I just didn't have enough tea to drink."
"See? I told you that it was a stupid reason." Hungary whispers to Harry. Harry chuckled lightly in agreement.
Romania walks towards England. "Hurry up and get out of that bed before the next class starts! I heard they're going to distribute forms for a field trip." He shows a grin.
"You don't need to rush me!" England yells in annoyance.
"Hohoho! Halloween is near, this is my time to shine!" Romania's eyes glistened. It's the time of the year where he can scare everybody and do mischievous things freely.
Harry was looking forward to the field trip, since he's going somewhere other than Hogwarts. He's going to have a good time with Hermione and Ron, grabbing a bunch of Candies from Hogsmeade. That's what he thought.
