Chapter Two: Entrance Exams

Izuku wandered down to dagobah beach. All Might had asked to meet him there after the sludge villain was put away.

He was curious as to what the number one hero might want with him. Was he in trouble? Had he done something wrong?

Izuku spotted the hulking man only after he went among the mountains of rubbish.

"Young Midoriya! There you are! I'm sure you're curious as to why I've requested to see you. Well, it's to do with my quirk.."

Now Izuku was intrigued. All Might's quirk was theorised about all over the world, but nobody really knew what it was.

"My quirk is called One for All, and it can be passed on due to its unique abilities. It is like a sacred torch, passed down through the generations, stockpiling power, in order to do good. Due to a bad injury I received a few years back I can only perform hero duties for 3 hours a day. The rest of the time.."

All Might seemed to shrink before Izuku's eyes, becoming a skinny, gaunt man.

  "I look like this."

  Izuku nodded.

"I thought you must be able to do something like this, otherwise people would see you out and about all the time.." Izuku said.

  All Might nodded.

"Yes. But I am getting too old to continue my boy. My quirk needs a new bearer, and I deem you worthy of it's incredible power. Do you accept it?" All Might asked.

  Izuku sighed, scratching his chin.

"I.. I'm honoured that you think so highly of me, and that you want to give me this great gift. But.. I already have an incredibly versatile quirk. I'm sure there are people out there with very weak or no quirks at all who are far more worthy of this power than me." Izuku said.

  The skinny all Might laughed.

"That only cements the fact that you are worthy of One for All. You are completely selfless, giving up this opportunity so that another could stand as a hero beside you. I doubt I'll be able to find anyone as good a successor as you could be young Midoriya."

  Izuku rubbed his neck.

"Well.. okay then. I'll make it into UA and help you look for a successor. If there are really no students I find that you believe are worthy, I'll become your successor."

The blonde smiled at his almost-protoge.

"That's precisely why I came to this city. To teach at UA and search for one worthy to inherit One for All. It is quite likely that a third year I'm going to be introduced to will be a good candidate."

All Might sighed, looking around at the beach.

"I was planning on having you clean all this to train for the quirk. But we can still do it anyway. After all, someone else may inherit One for All, but I think you still have the best chance of succeeding my number one position." All Might chuckled.

  Izuku grinned.

"So if you're lucky, you might be getting two successors." He laughed.

The last twelve months had been hell. Izuku cleared the beach in only 6 months, so the other 6 had been quirk and combat training.

Izuku stood before his mentor of one year proudly. His old top hat perched on his head, a smile on his face.

"So, how are you feeling about the entrance exams tomorrow?" Toshinori asked.

  Izuku bounced with excitement.

"I'm definitely ready. I thought I was ready last year, but now I'm really ready." He said.

All Might chuckled, ruffling the greenette's hair under his hat.

"You'll do excellently. Now, remember to keep your cards flat, be careful with your brass cups, and don't loose your hat! If you lose concentration and that things not on your head then all hell is going to break loose in a ten meter radius!"

  Izuku laughed with his mentor.

  "Okay dad, I'll be careful."

  "You'd better son."

Izuku headed home, waving to Toshinori behind him. It was a joke, but Toshinori really was like a father to Izuku.

He greeted his mother, heading upstairs and showering.

Izuku clambered into bed and was out like a light.

Izuku awoke the next morning just as his alarm went off. He leaped out of bed and grabbed the blanket discarded on the floor, wrapping it around himself.

He dropped the blanket back onto the floor and he was now dressed in his tracksuit.

Izuku grabbed his hat from the hatstand and scooped anything he thought he'd need into it off his desk.

  He peered into the hat.

"Cards, spare cards, brass cups and balls, string, pennies, wand, handkerchief, pens, pencils, rubbers, a ruler, protractor, calculator, notebooks, and a first aid kit. Excellent." He muttered to himself.

Izuku headed downstairs with his hat in hand, greeting his mother good morning and eating his toast.

Izuku grabbed his lunch from the fridge and dropped the lunchbox into his hat.

Izuku stepped out the door, waving to Inko and placing the hat on his head.

He hurried down the street to the train station, hopping aboard just as the train pulled in. He waited for ten minutes before arriving at his stop, just down the street from UA.

Izuku passed through the massive gates, admiring the tall building before him.

He felt someone barge last him, knocking him over and walking away.

  It was of course Bakugo.

Izuku braced for impact, but none came. He looked up curiously to meet deep brown eyes.

"Sorry for using my quirk without asking, but it would be bad luck if you fell!" The pretty brunette said.

Izuku smiled at her, light pink crawling across his face.

"T-thanks. We should hurry if we don't want to be late."

The girl nodded, releasing her quirk's hold on Izuku and hurrying inside, with the greenette close behind.

"HEEEY THERE VIEWERS!!!" An obnoxiously loud voice hollered.

"WELCOME TO THE UA ENTRANCE EXAMS!!" Present Mic continued.

Izuku listened intently, mumbling the details to himself.

"Robots.. point system.. free for all.. three point robots, one mystery.."

"Excuse me!" A new voice called out. "On this leaflet it says there are four robots, however you have only said there will be three. If this is a misprint then it's very disappointing that such a prestigious school such as UA made this error! And you!" The boy turned on his heel, pointing at Izuku.

"You've been muttering to yourself this entire time, and your attire is distracting the rest of us. If you're not going to take this seriously then please leave!"

  Izuku sighed.

"I can't help the muttering dipstick. And Present Mic wasn't done explaining. So sit down and take the stick out of your ass." He said.

"THE LISTENER IS CORRECT, I WAS JUST ABOUT TO EXPLAIN THAT THE FOURTH ROBOT IS WORTH NO POINTS AT ALL! ITS MORE OF AN OBSTACLE YOU SHOULD TRY TO AVOID!"

Izuku hopped off the bus outside the testing facility.

He made sure his hat was secured on his head, and felt up his sleeves for his special playing cards. He'd had the edges tipped with a lightweight metal, giving him a series of paper-thin blades.

"READY? GO!!" Present Mic yelled, spurring Izuku to action.

"WHAT? THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN REAL BATTLES, GO GO GO!!!"

Izuku grinned as his playing cards flew through the air, slicing the wires in the robot's necks. Once he ran out of playing cards he used his hat.

Izuku turned the corner and spotted another three pointer.

"Excellent.." he muttered, pulling the hat from his head.

"Watch, and be amazed! The great Izuku will now pull a battery from the hat!" He said, reaching into the hat and yanking a large battery out by the wires still connected to it.

The three pointer promptly fell over, it's power source gone.

Izuku used this tactic on the rest of the robots he came across, blinding large groups with dust and debris collected in the top hat, ejected toward the sensors.

The exam was close to finishing, with only two minutes remaining.

A rumble shook the ground, making damaged buildings crumble, and the rubble strewn about roll around.

Izuku gaped up at the behemoth towering over him, taking a step back in shock.

"Isn't this a little extreme??" He said.

Every examinee began running from the giga-bot like their lives depended on it. Izuku was about to turn and follow them, until he heard a small voice from the rubble.

  "Help.."

Izuku immediately spun on his heel, his jade eyes darting from one pile of rubble to the other. He soon found her.

Izuku ran to the brunette, leaping over chunks of rubble, dodging the bricks and steel beams falling from above.

Izuku kneeled down beside her, checking the chunk of concrete she was trapped under.

"Hello again, how are you?" Izuku asked pleasantly.

The girl stared at him for a moment before laughing a little.

"Oh, I'm fine really. Stuck with a massive robot approaching? Eh, I've been in worse." She joked.

Izuku made an oh face, stepping back.

"Okay then, if you've got this covered then I'm going this way."

Izuku twirled his cloak off, grinning at the brunette's confused expression.

"Now, my lovely assistant is in fact going to disappear from this stage! All she has to do is think of a place of safety, and she'll be gone!" Izuku said to his imaginary audience.

Izuku threw the cape over her, completely hiding her from view. He tapped her head with his wand and pulled the cape away.

  The brunette was gone.

Izuku now looked up at the giant robot.

"Wow. That armour looks almost impenetrable. Unfortunately, I am the master of sleight of hand."

Izuku took his hat off and reached inside, grasping wires and thick cables in his hand, yanking them out, meters of red green and blue cable emerged from the hat, spooling on the floor.

The robot stopped, the electronic brain in its head no longer connected to the rest of the body. It slowly fell backwards, halfway through a step.

Izuku heard Present Mic scream "TIMES UUUP!!!"

Izuku put his cape back on and spun in a circle, the material obscuring him from view, and swirling into nothing.

  Izuku entered the observation room.

  "Excuse me?" Izuku asked.

All the heroes turned to him in surprise.

All Might was the only one unsurprised.

"What is it young man?" He asked.

"W-well.. when that girl disappeared, the one with the brown hair, and pink cheeks. I sent her where she feels safe, which is most likely her home. I'm unsure as to how extensive her injuries were. I just wanted to apologise for ejecting her from the exam, and hope you take that into consideration when giving her points.." he said.

  Toshinori laughed.

"Don't worry young Midoriya, as far as I know she already had enough points to pass. So you don't need to worry. Thank you for informing us about what you did though."

Izuku nodded, stepping out of the room.

"Sorry for disturbing you." He said.

A few minutes later and Izuku was leaving UA with a pink backpack in his hand. He held it out infront of himself, concentrating his quirk.

  "Ownership compass.." he muttered.

Izuku felt the bag tug a little to the left, so he went that way.

It took several cape twirls and wrong directions before the bag decided on a house.

Izuku knocked on the door, waiting patiently.

A few seconds passed, before a brown haired woman opened the door.

  "Hello?" She said.

Izuku smiled. "Hello. My name is Izuku Midoriya, I believe I met your daughter at the entrance exams. I'm just bringing her things to her, after I sent her home."

  The woman's eyes widened fractionally.

"You're the boy she was talking about. With the cape and the top hat."

  Izuku bowed dramatically.

"Midoriya the Magnificent, at your service."

"My name is Uraraka. As is everyone else in the house, which may get confusing quite quickly."

Izuku was invited inside, where he met the newly named Uraraka's father.

"Hello there lad. Thanks for helping Ochako out, the way she described the exam made us think she could've died."

  Izuku smiled at the man.

"It's alright,we are training to be heroes after all. I only came to make sure I didn't aggravate any of her injuries, and bring her bag back."

Mr Uraraka nodded, gesturing up the stairs.

"Her room's the first one on the left. Knock, but don't say anything. I want to hear this." He chuckled.

Izuku, a little confused, headed up the stairs and knocked on the door.

  "Just a second!" Uraraka said.

The door was flung open, before the brunette shrieked and slammed it closed.

She opened the door again, a sheepish look on her face, her father's laughter echoing up the stairs.

"That's not funny dad!!" She said.

Izuku smiled, handing the girl her bag.

"I thought I'd grab that for you, seeing as I ejected you out of UA." He said.

  Uraraka laughed.

"Thanks. How'd you find my house?" She asked.

  "My quirk." Izuku said.

"That's a pretty impressive quirk. You can do so much with it!!" She said.

  Izuku smiled.

"Thanks. Yours is cool too. Removing the gravity from things you touch. Actually, I wanted to ask about that.."

Uraraka went into her room, sitting on the bed. Izuku sat cross legged on the floor, pulling his notebook out of his hat.

"What do you want to know?"
