Chapter 2
- A few days later-
I wake up to a party. Well, not a party party, just Peony. But anywhere Peony is is a party. As soon as my eyes open she yells at me that she wants to have a party. I groan and head to Dash's room, where I see she is already up too. I decide to take a look at her clock and see it's only 4:30 in the morning. Great.
"Well, I'm going back to bed." I say and head back to my room. If Peony wants to party, it'll have to be later this morning.
The alarm blares music, telling me it's time to get up. I groan, rub my eyes, and take a few minutes to mentally wake up before deciding to head to Unicity's room. She's sitting up in bed sewing what looks to be a bag of some sort. So much for getting sleep, it looks like she's been up for hours already. But then I look around her and see five other bags, strewn all over the rest of the bed.
"Wow, Unicity! What are these?" I ask.
"Oh, just soccer bags, for all of us!" I see each bag has a symbol on it, one that most represents each of us. I see a butterfly for Flit, a balloon for Peony, a diamond for Unicity, an apple for Jackie, and a lightning bolt for Dash. I guess the one she's working on now is for me. It's purple, with pink and white stars. What can I say? I like reading and school! Every time I get a star sticker on my homework I feel so proud.
"These are amazing, Unicity!" I tell her. Then, I head over to Jackie's room. She's peeling apples for breakfast over a bucket. I want to ask how on earth she got so many apples and why they're in her room instead of the kitchen, but that's probably the most normal thing that's happened in this house.
"Hey Jackie!" I say. "We're going to tell Dash today! Let's go!" I head out the door and run to Flit's room. As usual, she's playing with animals before getting ready for school. Today, it's birds. They chirp to me in greeting and then fly away to let us talk.
"Good morning, Flit!" I run over and give her a hug, almost knocking her over with the force.
"Good morning!"
"Meet me downstairs in five minutes, OK?" I wag my eyebrows at her, and she smiles knowingly.
"OK, thanks Twi!"
"You're welcome!" I say and run out of the room. I head to Peony in her room, who I know has definitely been up for hours getting our soccer supplies ready.
"Hi, Peony! How's the supplies coming along?" I ask.
"Great!" She flashes me a smile. Together Peony and I head downstairs, meeting with Unicity, Jackie, and Flit just outside the kitchen. Unicity hands us our bags and we put our supplies in. Unanimously we all take a deep breath and open the door to the kitchen.
"Hey Dash!" I say. She looks shocked to see us.
"I thought you guys were still in bed!" she tells us. Yeah... Dash is an early bird and the rest of us like sleep too much to join her.
"Sooooo... Dash... you remember how you asked us to play soccer with you a few days ago and we all said no?" I ask slowly, making sure to put emphasis on how we ALL refused to play with her. Poor Dash.
"Umm.. Yeah and I was totally bummed out too." Dash replies, a little upset still about not being able to play with anyone.
"Well, you see, we didn't play soccer with you a few days ago because we didn't want you to see how good we were getting!" I reply. We all flash big innocent smiles. She looks confused at first, and you can see her putting the pieces together in her head. "That's right, Dash! We're trying out too!!!!" I tell her.
"Eeeeeeee!!!" she shrieks and bombards us all with hugs. "You guys are the best!!!" she yells. "I can't believe you would all do this with me!" She looks around for a bit, before looking at the apples in Jackie's hands. "You might want breakfast," she adds before giving us all big smiles and hugs one more time. Well, DUH, of course we all want breakfast! The one thing we can all agree on is oat cereal. We all take a bowl and head to the table where Jackie had finished chopping up apples. We all add them in to our own bowls along with various other fruits. When we were all done we realize the time had flown to 6:30. Shoot. We can't be late for practice! We all run out the door, ready to get on the bus and get to school.
"Um guys... The bus won't be here until 7:30... We have to walk." I say, sighing and dreading the long walk.
"Come on, guys! It will be fine! Let's go!" Dash yells. Sigh. Dash walks ahead, and I struggle to keep up with her pace. How she is so energetic in the morning is beyond me. A while later, we finally make it to school and head to the field, anticipating both fun and fear in our near future.
After the six of us get in a decent amount of practice, the soccer coach comes up and says it is time for us to try out for the team. More and more students come out and join us, and with the number of people here I worry that we won't all make the team. I already recognize several people that have been on the team in previous years, and I know that there is no way I can perform better than them. As I go through the try outs, I keep telling myself I can do it. I can make it. Hey, don't judge me, but I was really nervous. I've never been much of the sporty type. As soon as my group finishes, I look to my right and see a guy named Bolt heading over in my direction. Great, just the person I DIDN'T want to see. I immediately look the other way, pretending I didn't see him, and start walking in the opposite direction. I don't stop walking until I reach Dash.
"Do you think I'll make it?" I ask, hopeful but extremely nervous about the whole ordeal.
"Yeah!! You were GREAT! I'd be surprised if you don't make it!" she replies. Somehow, that helped me believe I will. Maybe all of us will. I hope.
Hey guys! I want to make a special shout out to RainbowDashLoyalty for being awesome! Also a very special thanks to my twin (RainbowDashLoyalty) for helping me too! You are the best!!
