Nightmare On The Black Pearl-- Part 2
AN: And now... the conclusion of our Halloween Special! Savor it like that little chuck of chocolatey nougat that gets stuck between your teeth! Seriously, I can't be the only one who suffers with that every Halloween!
Meanwhile on the deck of the Black Pearl, Mr. Gibbs was still seated outside on the deck with a pistol in hand. However he had fallen asleep about half an hour after Captain Jack left the ship. But Maggie expected as much, it wasn't the first time her father left his first mate in charge of babysitting her. Besides now that Gibbs was asleep, it would give Maggie a chance to set up her traps for Franny Kreeper. Once Maggie got Franny out of her dream, she would use booby traps to stall her until Captain Jack returned.
Maggie slipped out of her bedroom, holding a bag of supplies for her traps. She noticed Mr. Gibbs sleeping in the corner, she knew him to be a heavy sleeper, but just in case...
Maggie walked up to Mr. Gibbs and poked him hard. He didn't so much as fidget in his sleep.
"Gibbs..." Maggie mumbled to him.
Nothing.
"Gibbs" Maggie said louder.
Not even a twitch in his face.
Maggie clapped her hands together right beside his ear and shouted "GIBBS! WAKE UP!"
His head fell to one side, but he was still fast asleep.
Maggie eyes widened. "Maybe he's dead?" She asked herself. Then she glanced under his chair and noticed an empty bottle of her father's rum.
"Oh... that explains it!" Maggie nodded.
Now confident that the ship's first mate wouldn't blow the whistle on her, Maggie went straight to work on her booby traps.
First Maggie took a small anchor that she swiped from a dinghy on the dock. It weighed about thirty-five pounds and Maggie struggled to carry it into the Captain's Cabin. Then she tied some strong, wool string around the top of the anchor and hooked the string to a cargo hook on the ceiling and hoisted it up, tying the string to a book shelf beside her. So the anchor dangled from the ceiling above, outside her cabin door.
Then she went into the stairs leading to the ship's helm and placed a bunch of marbles on each step. Then she covered the stairs with a long rug, which hid the marbles.
Afterwards, Maggie went down to the Pearl's cargo hold and grabbed some of the old tattered sails that had been taken down because there were too many holes in them. She layed them out on the deck and doused them with kerosene oil. After ringing out the excess oil, Maggie tied a rope around the sails and hauled them up near the crows nest. It looked like a large oil-stained ghost floating above the deck of the Black Pearl.
After finally returning to her cabin, Maggie stared up at the clock on one side of her bedroom. It was exactly twenty minutes before midnight. Her father would be home by midnight and hopefully by that time Maggie will have pulled Franny put of her dreams and lead her into one of her awaiting traps! This was it, this was her chance to prove to everyone she wasn't crazy, that Franny Kreeper was real!
Maggie took a deep breath, suddenly remembering that saying was always easier than doing. Franny had about two feet and probably about sixty pounds on little Maggie. She knew this would be a challenge, but no matter the odds, no matter how scary it got, Maggie knew she had to do this.
But just in case she got down on her knees beside her bed and folded her hands as she closed her eyes.
"Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. And if I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take" she recited a bedtime prayer.
The Sparrow family had never really followed a specific religion, but Maggie thought it best to talk to the big guy upstairs in case this plan ended on a fatal note.
Maggie climbed into bed and stared at the clock, ten minutes till midnight. She hadn't slept the night through for almost a week, so she had no trouble going to sleep. She dozed off almost as soon as her head hit the pillow. As Maggie drifted off to sleep, a conversation she had with her father a few days prior rang in her head.
"But what if they meet a monster in their dreams, then what?" Maggie asked.
"They just turn their back on it" Jack explained. "It's your dream. If you don't focus on it, you take away it's energy and it disappears."
"But what if the monster doesn't disappear?" Maggie asked.
"There's no monster after you, Darling..."
Captain Jack's voice faded out as Maggie's heavy eye lids shut.
☠🎃☠
Unbeknownst to Maggie, her father was still in town in a jail cell. And even though Captain Jack knew it would do no good pleading to the redcoats about letting him out... this was an emergency!
"Please! You have to let me out of here!" Captain Jack shouted to the prison guards.
"Pipe down now!" The guard told him. He had his feet up on his desk across from Captain Jack's cell.
"You don't understand!" Jack shouted. "I have to get out of here! A young child's life is at risk!"
"You're not that young!" The guard retorted.
"Not me, you dolt!" Jack shouted.
"Listen here, pirate!" The guard told him, rising from his chair. "If I let every prisoner go free who asked, I wouldn't be worthy of this uniform."
"If I were you, I'd be proud to be unworthy of that uniform" Jack rolled his eyes.
"Why is that?" The guard sneered at Jack from the bars of his cell.
"Red isn't your color" Captain Jack looked him up and down and turned up his nose in mock disgust.
The guard huffed "I'll be sure to move you up on the list of prisoners sentenced for hanging tomorrow."
As the guard stormed out of the cell block, Captain Jack smirked. Why? Well, the guard was so preoccupied giving him a tongue lashing, he failed to notice Jack slipping his hand through the bars to take his keys off his belt as he spoke.
Captain Jack unlocked his cell, snatched up his effects and made off like the bandit he was. Once out the cell block, he started running straight back to the docks. He had to get back to the Black Pearl and save Maggie!
☠🎃☠
Back on the Pearl, an already sleeping Maggie was just starting to dream as the clock struck midnight.
Maggie wandered around the deck of the Black Pearl and looked around, Franny Kreeper wasn't anywhere to be seen. But Maggie knew she was there, she could feel Franny's cold stare on her as she walked around the room.
Maggie knew her time was limited. It was almost midnight when she dozed off, that means her father would be home any minute. Meaning she had to find Franny grab her and pull her out of her dream.
"Franny!" Maggie yelled. "I'm here!"
Nothing. Apparently Franny liked to stalk her victim's before taking their lives.
Suddenly one of the sails on the Black Pearl lit up, causing Maggie to gasp and look up at it. The moving image of a young man appeared on the sail, he had was a lanky guy with shaggy brown hair and familiar brown eyes. He stood there talking to Franny Kreeper, except Maggie hardly recognized her because her face wasn't burnt.
"This has to stop!" The young man told her. "Another child is dead!"
"Her parents are better off without her" Franny told him. "I don't see why you humans have kids anyways, they're nothing but ungrateful, snot-nosed, little tax deductions."
"Franny, for God's sake!" The boy yelled. "Do you understand that you murdered these kids? That you ended their lives? That they were just young kids with their whole lives ahead of them?!"
"And why should I care?" Franny told him. "It's not me dying!"
"This needs to stop!" The boy told her. "You need to be stopped, Franny!"
Franny stormed up to him and looked him in the eye. "And you're the one who's gonna do it, huh Jacky?" Franny asked.
Maggie's jaw dropped. It was her father! She was watching a memory of Captain Jack as a young twenty year old man!
"I created you" Young Jack told Franny. "That means there must be a way I can end you."
Franny cackled. "You don't have the nerve, boy!" She told him. "You don't have the stomach to take me down!"
The young Captain Jack glared up at her.
Maggie watched as Franny cackled at the young Jack, until the current Franny popped up behind her.
Maggie screamed and ran back to her cabin, Franny was right on her heels. Maggie ran to her cabin and slammed the door shut and locked it, before Franny could get in.
Franny pounded her fist on the door and Maggie panted, catching her breath. She hadn't ran that far, but the fear of the whole situation had her all worked up. Maggie shook her head and tried to calm her self.
"It's only a dream!" She told herself. "It's not real! It's only a dream! A dream, dammit!"
She froze when she noticed an uneasy silence on the other side of the door. Franny wasn't banging on the door anymore. Maggie comtemplented opening the door again. Was Franny really gone? Or was she just being quiet to make Maggie open the door?
Maggie grabbed her sword from one end of the room and walked up to the door. She carefully unlocked the door to make sure Franny wouldn't hear it. Then she paused, her hand gripping the hilt of her sword. If Franny Kreeper was on the other end of this door, she was gonna get a taste of cold steel!
Bracing herself for a fight, Maggie flug open the door and rushed forward, her sword raised in attack!
Only... Franny was nowhere to be seen. She'd just disappeared. Maggie's eyes scanned the room, she was gone. She sighed and went back to her cabin.
Maggie put her sword down and layed back down on her bed.
"I really must be crazy..." she sighed deeply. "Dad was right, I'm just over tired and paranoid" She layed her head back on the pillow and shut her eyes.
But not a second after she did, Franny's arm wrapped around her abdomen and began pulling her into a hole in the middle of her bed.
"NO!" Maggie screamed "NO! DADDY! HELP! HELP ME!"
☠🎃☠
Captain Jack raced up the gangplank of the Black Pearl, panting. He'd ran all the way from the prison.
"Gibbs!" He wheezed, stumbling up the deck.
"I'm innocent!" Mr. Gibbs shouted as he jolted awake.
Captain Jack grabbed his flask from around his throat and gulped it down, hungrily. "Gibbs!" He panted when he was done. "Where's Maggie?"
"She's still asleep in her cabin as far as I know" Mr. Gibbs shrugged.
"I gotta go check on her!" Jack exclaimed, running for her cabin. Then he paused. "On second thought, I'm just going to sit a spell, I ran here all the way from the local prison. Mr. Gibbs, do I appear out of shape to you?"
"Uh..." Mr. Gibbs thought about how to word his response.
"NO! NO! DADDY! HELP! HELP ME!" Maggie's voice shrieked from her cabin.
"MAGGIE!" Jack shouted back, leaping from his seat and towards his daughter's cabin door.
Mr. Gibbs sighed in relief. "Thank you" he looked upwards as he went down the gangplank for his break.
Captain Jack tore open the door to Maggie's cabin. His eyes bugged out of his head in horror, Maggie was being pulled into the bed by Franny! Maggie clawed at the sides of her mattress to avoid being pulled in fully. All the while, Franny was hanging on to her waist trying to yank her into the swirling black hole in the mattress.
Jack grabbed Maggie's forearms and began yanking her back up.
"Maggie! Hold on, Luv!" He told her. "Daddy's got you!"
Maggie began to choke as Franny wrapped her hands around her throat. Franny was attempting to choke Maggie out so she could drag her down.
"Franny!" Jack shouted. "Get off of her! Leave her be!"
Franny hissed, flicking a forked tongue at Jack.
As Maggie's face began to turn blue, Captain Jack tightened his grip on her left arm and reached over with one hand to grab the kerosene lamp off Maggie's night stand and smashed it against Franny's head. This caused Franny to loosen her grip on Maggie and Jack hauled his daughter away from the wicked dream demon.
Captain Jack and Maggie fell back on the floor. Maggie hacked and gasped as the air came back into her lungs. Franny rose up out of the hole in the bed and glared down at Jack.
"You've had this coming for over thirty years, Jack!" Franny told him. "Your bastard daughter can wait, you'll die first!"
Franny pounced onto Jack and Maggie rolled out of the way to avoid being crushed. Franny raised her finger knives above him, Jack grabbed her wrist and struggled to keep her blades from his throat.
Maggie grabbed the chair from her desk and smashed it down over Franny. She rolled off Jack, rubbing her aching back.
"Daddy! Daddy! Come on! Hurry!" Maggie yelled to him, running for the door and opening it.
She looked above the doorframe, the anchor was still hanging by the string above. Maggie grabbed the string attached to the bookshelf.
As someone came tumbling out the room, Maggie slammed the door shut and tied the string to the door handle.
"Way to go, Daddy!" Maggie grinned, staring at the door. "Now when Franny comes out she'll fall right into my tra..."
Maggie's voice trailed off when she turned to look at her father. Only it was Franny Kreeper who was standing behind her! Maggie had realized too late that the wrong person had come tumbling out! That means... Captain Jack was still trapped in her cabin!
"Time to die!" Franny cackled as she swiped her finger knives down at Maggie.
Maggie side-stepped just in time to hear the blades whistle past her ear.
"Daddy!" Maggie shouted through the door. "Help! Don't let her kill me!"
"I'm coming, Luv!" Jack shouted from inside the cabin.
As Maggie dived and ducked to avoid Franny's knives, Jack had opened the door to Maggie's cabin, which loosened the string around the doorknob and caused the anchor to come soaring down.
"I'll save you, Mag--" the anchor smacked Captain Jack in the head before he could finish. He crumpled to the floor, only half conscience.
"Ooh!" Maggie hissed. "That could not have felt pleasant!"
Franny grabbed Maggie by the arm from behind and attempted to drag her into her clutches. But Maggie stomped her heel down on Franny's foot, causing the redheaded serial killer to shriek in pain, she leaned down to rub her sore foot. As she did, Maggie pulled her red and green sweater over her head, before giving her a hard shove and sending her flying backwards over her father's desk.
"Daddy!" Maggie called to her father. "Come on, run!"
"I'm coming as fast as I can!" Jack yelled as he attempted to stand back up. His horrid balance was now worsened by the blow to his head via the anchor.
As Franny began stumbling to her feet, Maggie ran over and grabbed Jack by the hem of his coat and pulling him out the door of the Captain's cabin and out to the deck.
"Quickly, Maggie! Follow Daddy up to the helm!" Jack told her, running for the stairs of the helm.
"Dad! No!" Maggie yelled before screaming as Franny leaped out from the Captain's Cabin and tried to grab her.
Captain Jack ran for the stairs, unaware of the marbles that Maggie had placed under the long carpet covering the stairs. With each step he tried to climb, Jack fell flat on his face. Still disoriented from that bump on the head from the anchor, he continued to try climbing the stairs regardless. It was like watching a snake eat it's own tail.
All the while, Maggie was trying to fight off Franny Kreeper. Since the anchor and the marble trap's were now out of the question, Maggie attempted to lure her over to the oil soaked sail still hanging above the deck.
"C'mon, Franny!" Maggie taunted her, as she had her back to the main mast. "What kind of a big bad killer are you, if you can't even keep up with a little girl?"
"I'm gonna gut you like a carp!" Franny shouted, rushing forward in attack.
But just before she could, Maggie ducked out of the way and Franny grabbed the mast to avoid running into it. But she grabbed the mast with her finger-knifed glove and ended up cutting a rope tied to the mast.
Before Franny could even understand what had happened the kerosene soaked sail came fluttering down on top of her. Maggie had already grabbed a box of matches and struck it, before throwing it onto the sail with Franny Kreeper under it.
"NOOOO!" Franny shrieked as she was trapped under the flaming canvas.
Maggie ran back to the stairs to find her father. Captain Jack was laying at the bottom of the stairs, looking exhausted at his attempts to walking up them.
"You alright, Daddy?" Maggie asked him.
"I hate stairs" Jack stated. "And I'm beginning to think that they don't care much for me either."
Maggie giggled. But it soon turned into a shriek of horror as Franny Kreeper's hand shot out from one end of the flaming canvas and grabbed Jack by the ankle!
"Daddy!" Maggie screamed as Franny yanked Jack under the burning sail with her.
Maggie ran to one end of the ship and grabbed a bucket of water, left by one of the crew members on cleaning duty. She tossed the water onto the canvas and ripped it off her father and Franny, tossing it overboard in the water.
Maggie looked at the deck, Franny was nowhere to be found, but her father layed spralled out on the deck, unconscious.
"Daddy!" Maggie cried, getting down on her knees beside his body. "Daddy! Get up, please!"
Maggie began to sob. She shook Captain Jack, but he wouldn't wake up. She couldn't tell if he was dead or not.
Then she noticed his chest moving up and down. He was breathing, he was alright! Maggie sighed with relief as she wiped away her tears.
But now... where was Franny? At this point Maggie was used to it. She felt Franny's eyes on her. She knew the dream demon was behind her, waiting to strike her from behind.
"I know you're there, Franny" Maggie said, a calm seriousness to her voice.
"You thought you'd get away from me?" Franny hissed in her ear, scraping her finger-knives together as she placed them on her shoulder.
Maggie shrugged them off. "Cut the crud, Franny!" She told her. "I know you too well now."
"And now you're gonna die..." Franny said with murderous glee.
"It's too late, Kreeper!" Maggie spat. "I know how this works now. This is just a dream. You're not real and you're not alive. You never even were a real person! You're imaginary! This whole thing is just a bad dream. It's all in my head! I want you to leave this ship! And leave me, my dad and my friends alone!"
Franny breath hitched as she staggered away from Maggie. A look of fear crossed her burnt face. She was so use to kids being afraid of her, not the other way around! Now this little girl was standing up to her, she had no fear left in her body. She wasn't scared or startled or even intimidated! There was nothing for Franny to feed on or use to her advantage!
"What?" Franny whimpered.
"I'm not scared of you! You're made up! You're fake!" Maggie told her off. "The only scary thing about you is how bogus you are! I'm taking back every bit of energy I gave you. You're nothing anymore. You're pathetic!"
Maggie turned her back on Franny as she walked back to her cabin. Franny tried to lunge at her in attack, but with none of Maggie's fear to power her, she disappeared in a poof of black sand.
Maggie grinned in triumph. She did it, she took down Franny Kreeper all by herself and she could finally sleep again.
Speaking of which... Maggie thought, heading to her cabin. She curled up under the covers and drifted off into a nightmare-free sleep.
☠🎃☠
The next morning, Maggie woke up and came out onto the deck, feeling well rested.
"Morning, Sleeping Beauty" Captain Jack tousled her bed head.
"Morning, Daddy" Maggie smiled. "What time is it?"
"It's almost noon" Jack chuckled. "But you were sleeping so soundly, I didn't want to wake you. I take it you didn't have any more nightmares?"
"Nope" Maggie shook her head. "It was just like you said, Daddy. If you turn your back on it, you take away it's energy."
"That's my girl" Jack kissed her forehead. "I'm glad you faced your fears."
Maggie cleared her throat. "And what have we learned from this experience?" She asked.
Jack rolled his eyes and sighed. "That I should listen to my daughter when she says there's a creepy lady trying to murder her in her dreams..." he said in a bored monotone.
"And...?" Maggie persisted.
"And that I shouldn't try to drive a carriage when I'm under the influence of alcohol, especially when my daughter is expecting me home..." Jack continued.
"And...?" Maggie continued to persist.
"And... I'm sorry for not believing you" Captain Jack admitted. "Everything alright now?"
Maggie nodded "I believed I've achieved satisfaction, yes."
The two laughed, until suddenly all the sails of the Black Pearl unfurled at once.
"Woah! What just happened?" Maggie asked.
"I don't know?" Jack said, confused. "Maybe the crew didn't tighten the knot's on the sails enough?"
Maggie peered upwards at the sails, they had a red and green strips on them... like Franny's sweater!
Suddenly the whole ship lurched forward, causing Maggie and Captain Jack to fall forward onto the deck.
"Daddy" Maggie began to panic. "What's happening?"
"I don't know!" Jack told her. "I'm not doing this!"
Maggie leaped to her feet and looked up at the helm. The wheel of the ship was moving, but no one was steering it!
"Daddy! What's happening to the helm?" She raised her voice in alarm. "What's going on?"
"I don't know what's happening!" Jack cried. "I'm not doing this!"
A wide-eyed look of horror froze on Maggie's face as she glanced up. She pointed to the helm and screamed.
Captain Jack turned and followed her glance, the sight struck terror in him as well...
Franny Kreeper was steering the Black Pearl and grinning down at them, maliciously. She rushed to the railing of the helm and jumped down at them, with her finger-knives sharpened and ready!
☠🎃☠
Captain Jack's eyes snapped open. He glanced around, he was in his cabin, in bed. The sunlight poured through the cracks in the drapes, it was morning. The door to Maggie's cabin creaked open. Maggie came in, still in her nightgown with bedhead.
Now Jack was beginning to remember, today was November first. The day after Halloween.
Maggie groaned "Daddy, my stomach hurts..."
"You didn't try to eat all your Halloween candy in one sitting again, did you?" Jack asked, pulling her into his lap
"No..." Maggie lied, shaking her head.
"Really?" Jack asked, smirking. "You didn't try to eat all those caramels? Or salt water taffy? Or lollipops? Or those gooey chocolates with the nougat centers? Or..."
Maggie groaned loudly, resting her head on his shoulder. "Quit it, Daddy!" She moaned. "I'm nursing a candy hangover here!"
Jack chuckled at her reaction. "Stay here, I'll get you some tonic to help."
"I'm never eating candy again" Maggie vowed as she curled up in bed. "...Do we have anymore cookies?"
Captain Jack rolled his eyes at her as he put a spoonful of stomach medicine in her mouth.
"You know, I think it serves you right to get a tummy ache" Jack told her. "That scary story you told be last night gave me nightmares."
"The one I made up about a creepy killer lady who hunted people in their dreams?" Maggie asked.
"That's the one" Jack nodded.
Maggie giggled mischievously. "I told you I could scare you!"
"And I told you, you'd get sick if you ate too much candy at once!" Jack retorted.
Maggie groaned "Don't even mention candy!"
Captain Jack kissed her forehead and tucked her into bed. "I'm gonna be nice and let you sleep off this candy hangover of yours, since you were up all night trick-or-treating."
"You're the best..." Maggie moaned.
Captain Jack went to leave the room when he stopped and turned around.
"Maggie, just out of curiosity" he asked. "Where did you hear that story, you told me last night?"
"I just made it up and wrote it down in my notebook" Maggie explained.
Jack nodded "You always were good at telling stories."
Maggie shrugged "Eh, it's just like lying, except you get to be more colorful with it!"
Captain Jack chuckled and went out onto the deck. As he stepped up to the helm, he noticed Maggie's notebook beside some navigational charts. He opened it up and saw the story title: A Nightmare On The Black Pearl scrawled on the front cover.
Jack was still a little shaken by his nightmare from the evening prior. So he took the notebook and, while no one was looking, tossed it overboard. It sank into the depths of the sea, where it couldn't hurt anyone ever again...
☠🎃☠
Los Angeles, California.
1984
234 Years Later...
A man walked along the beach while on the last day of vacation with his family. He stared at the sunset over the horizon, as the last glimpse of sun disappeared over the horizon, the man glanced down and noticed something washed up on the tide.
He bent down and picked it up, it was some old, weather worn notebook. Despite being in the sea for who knows how long, it was still in great shape, all the pages and words had managed to stay in tact. On the front cover the words: A Nightmare On The Black Pearl were sketched.
The man was about to open the book when his wife called to him.
"Wes!" She yelled. "Wes, the car's all packed up! Ready to go?"
"I'm coming, dear!" The man named Wes Craven called.
6 months later...
"Yeah, so far I got Heather Langenkamp playing the final girl, I got this guy Robert Englund playing the villain. But we're stumped in finding someone to play the boyfriend role..."
A man sat in an office on the phone as he flipped through a pile of headshots of young male actors.
He paused listening to the person on the other line talk. "Well, some of the actors who auditioned are great, but they're just not what I'm looking for" he explained. "The character of Glen is supposed to be the handsome, young jock-type. But all the muscular guys who came in are too old to play a teenager! ...Yeah, okay bye."
A secretary then walked into the office. "Mr. Craven?" She asked.
"Yes?" The man looked up from the script he was reading.
"It appears you have a late entry for the part of Glen?" The secretary explained.
"There's one more?" Wes Craven asked. "Alright, send him in."
The secretary nodded and returned with a young man with large brown eyes and dark fluffy hair. His name was Johnny Depp, but no one knew it yet...
"Hi there. Did you bring your headshots?" Wes Craven asked.
"Yes, sir" Johnny passed them over to him. "My resume's in there as well, if you want to see it."
Wes looked over the young man's resume.
"So you're twenty years old?" Wes asked, a little surprised.
"Yeah, I've been told I look young for my age" Johnny shrugged shyly.
"And how much acting have you done up until now?" Wes asked.
Johnny bit his lip. "None" he answered. "This is all kind of new to me."
Wes nodded as he looked the boy up and down. He was skinnier than he would have hoped for the character of Glen. Wes Craven had pictured a big sporty handsome jock, but this Johnny kid had a skinny, little punk-rocker thing going for him. But at this point, Wes was willing to try anything once.
"So why don't we have you read through the script a little bit?" Wes asked Johnny.
"Sure" he nodded. He nervously flipping through his copy of the script and began to read. "Ext. High School. Fade up on shot of this large high school and its crowds of students..."
"No, no!" Wes shook his head, interrupting. "You just have to read the dialogue."
"Oh!" Johnny nodded and continued.
Wes shook his head. When they said this kid was a rookie, they weren't fooling around! He thought to himself.
After the audition, Wes was walking Johnny out of the office and asked him what he thought of the script.
"In all honesty, I loved it!" Johnny told the horror director. "It's so crazy, it could be a success! I mean, kids getting eaten by beds and getting spewed across the ceiling? It's awesome! Where do you come up with this stuff?"
"Can I tell you a secret?" Wes answered the question with a question.
Wes Craven shrugged. "Call it a gift from the devil I guess!" He chuckled. "We'll be in touch with you in about a month or so, to let you know if you got the part."
"Alright, thank you, sir!" Johnny headed back to his car as Wes went back into his office. He pulled out the original notebook he had found on the beach that day. The cover was worn and weather beaten from years in the salty seawater, yet the title on the cover was still in tack: A Nightmare on the Black Pearl.
"Whoever wrote this, your story is about to be told" Wes said to no one in particular. "Only it'll be under the title: A Nightmare on Elm Street."
