Chapter 35

ROBERT

I woke up almost 2 hours after that incident, feeling weak and sluggish. A burnt mark was there on my wrist and my right hand was numb almost for the whole day.

But I still remember the voice of that man, who was responsible for this condition of mine. Specifically the last words he uttered.

...home wrecker and a murderer.

His tone was coated with so much contempt, resentment and disgust that it made me wonder, how could a person hate Lexi that much.

How did he even know her?

It's not like I had believed the words uttered by the person who was responsible for the round scar on my wrist. These people were manipulate and sly. And I had already experienced that.

The guards took extra precautions now while they came to give me food.

Taking a deep breath in annoyance, I stood up from the couch and kicked the foot of the bed harshly. I was exasperated by my countless failures and it was only proving my incompetence as a spy to those bloody scoundrels.

The clink of the door caught mu attention and I swiftly turmed back. It was one of the soldiers, a plate in his hand and his glaring eyes fixed at me.

"You better song try to make a move," he growled out, sauntering inside with calculated steps.

I arched up one my eyebrow tauntingly and his glare harshen. Steeping inside the room he turns his back on me for a second to keep the plate in the table, when I saw a phone in his back pocket.

It was just a span of two seconds and I did the first instinctual thing, swiftly grabbing it and hid it in my pocket.

The guard briskly turned towards me and narrowed his eyes into a skeptical look. My face was emotionless and I looked back at him blankly.

"Eat," he said in low rough voice and sauntered out of the room.

I locked the room and quickly took out the phone. I dialled Lexi's number cause that was the only number I remembered right now.

"Damn it!"

It was coming engaged. I didn't have much time. Soon, the guard would realise that he didn't has his phone and would come.

So I decided to leave a message. But I need to send it in code form. I was not sure where Lexi was and whether she had her phone with her or not.

2nd home, 3rd floor (underground).
                                                             -WR.

My office was like my 2nd home and Lexi knew that. And I had only one big cabinet in it, where I always kept all the work related data. My inverted initials was the only clue I left for her to know that it was me.

I really hoped she would figure this out that I had hidden the chip below the last drawer of the cabinet. And I really prayed that she could trace my location through the message I was about to send.

I clicked on the send option and within a few seconds the delivery report came. Without wasting a second I deleted the message, and threw the phone aimlessy on the couch.

The door banged opened within a minute and the guard strode into the room, his face twisted into an angry scowl as he clenched his jaw.

"Where is my fucking cellphone!?" he roared.

I kept my face blank, and pinter my finger at the couch trying to act oblivious.

"You dropped it."

He quickly snatched it from the couch and glared at me. If looks could kill I would be six feet underground.

He gave a quick scan to his phone and jabbed his finger at my chest, snarling, "Whatever you did with my phone, it doesn't matter. Nobody is coming to your rescue."

He smirked at my face and walked out. I slumped down on my bed, rubbing my face. I realises his phone had private number, so nobody would be able to trace me.

But if luck was on my side, then Axel's disaster was inevitable.

*******

SARAH

"And that's how you do it," I said releasing Chase's hand as he stroked the brush on the canvas. It shook a little but he was getting better at it everyday. Atleast he was a quick learner, unlike me. I was still having lot of trouble drawing figures.

He carefully kept the brush aside and scrutinized the picture with his sharp eyes, his eyebrows scrunched up and I found the gesture too adorable. The big bad Mafia man was not satisfied with his art.

"This is ridiculous," he rasped looking away from the picture.

"No, it's artistic. It's an abstract painting." I tried to reassure him, but he just shook his head. He didn't even know that his mere acts of accompanying me were more than enough to warm my heart.

He was an extremely busy man, and he had a lot of business to take care of. Business, that were futile without his presence. But everyday he managed to make time to spend with me, though he had better things to do. The Capo didn't need to sharpen his painting skills but he still did it for me, to spend time with me.

Cause it gave me happiness and peace. This cottage had became our solace, our safe heaven, and I never wanted it to end.

"You are doing an amazing job, trust me," I said, gently rubbung his shoulders. He sighed out and close his eyes, craning his neck back to look at me. Those deep brown eyes stared back at me, almost lovingly and I smiled back at him.

His taunted muscles relaxed under my touch and I realised how much tired he was. Everyday he would leave for work, before sunrise so that he could finish early and spend some time with me at the cottage. After the long break he took to take care of me after my breakdown, he needed to work hard for the lost time.

My stomach fluttered at this act of his. He never forgot to kiss me before leaving, and managed to spare us sometime during lunch, which we spend at his office.

I continued to massage his shoulder and neck and he groaned out in pleasure.

Damn! That sound was hot.

He muscles flexed and he gently pried my hand of his shoulder. Pulling me into his lap he soft kissed my wrist at the pulse point and my stomach fluttered.

"You look tired. Wanna go back to the mansion? I asked stroking his cheek. His stubble poked my finger and I loved the sensation.

He shook his head, and buried his face into my neck breathing out heavily, which broke goosebumps into my skin. He wrapped his other hand around by protuding belly and gently stroke it.

"No, I have some unfinished business. I will drop you off at the mansion and will leave," he spoke out, softly leaving open mouth kissed on my neck and I mewled out.

"Okay." When he said business, I didn't ask more. I was sure it was something illegal, but that part didn't bother me much anymore. He wasn't a good man. None of them were. But he was good to me, he cherished me and adored me. And that was more than enough for me.

He looked down at my stomach and leaned down to leave some kisses on it, and whispered, "How is this little guy doing?"

I chuckled out softly. Being a mother was the hardest task and my sweet little guy down here was proving that. Morning sickness, unhealthy cravings and emotional mess, and on the top of that back pain. I was a tickling bomb and Chase was really being very patient in handling me.

"Doing okay, for now. But today I don't feel tired."

He gave me a twisted smile and stood up. I instantly wrapped my legs around his waist.

"That's good then. When I return I would tire you up", he said huskily, rubbing his hard-on on my butt. My ears felt hot and I hid my face into his neck as he laughed out and carried me out of the cottage.

From the corner of my eyes I saw a tall and big figure standing a few meters away from us. His eyes were vigilant and we're gawking at us with a scrutinizing gaze.

Andrew.

*******

ANDREW

I looked at the retreating figures of Chase carrying Sarah out of the cottage, where even I was not allowed to step my foot into. When Lexi told me to stop for a few days to observe the changes in my son, this was definitely not what I expected.

"I am am seeing visible and good changes in my son," I spoke out and gave a satisfied look to Lexi, who cleared her throat and patted her back like a proud mother-hen.

My face broke out into a happy grin and Lexi too beamed at me.

"Didn't I tell you Sarah was not what you are expecting? She has a way to creep into people's heart for good.  I am sure your doubts are clear now."

I signed out. I knew that Sarah was different. She wasn't gold-digger type or like those ambitious women, who were looking for power and money.  It wasn't Sarah in the first place I was angry with. It was Chase. When I came to knew that he had got himself a surrogate, I assumed it was the no-strings-attached types. But they definitely didn't look like that.

I had been staying here for the last couple of weeks to observed them silently, and so far I had succeeded. It wasn't easy to convince Chase to let me stay here but I was his father for a reason.

It was on the first day itself after I came. Chase was in his office and I barged in, cause I didn't need permission.

"What the hell!?" Chase roared out as soon as he saw me. I didn't bother to reply anything and sat down on the chair.

"Andrew, you better leave my office and the mansion before I put a bullet in your skull," he gritted, clenching his jaw and an angry vein pulsed on his forehead.

"You won't dare," I mocked him.

As if that sentence was the last string holding his patience. He stalked towards me and held my up by my collar, slamming me on the wall.

"Fucking leave!" he roared.

"Leave my collar," I said in a deadly calm tone. Two alpha male stood facing each other. It was  a game of power and dominance. Father against son.

He bared his teeth on me, left my collar and snarled, "I don't want you here."

"It doesn't matter what you want. I have the right to be here and demand explanation from you on the bunisess and my empire." I said, in a harsh tone.

"My empire!" he growled out.

I smirked out. Off course he was a possessive man.

"Did you forget that I still hold 45% share of everything," I whispered on his face and smirked. Now he couldn't deny me the information I deserved to know.

Chase's face twisted into wrath and he matched upto the table kicking the chair away and growled out.

"Why the fuck you don't leave me alone!?"

I didn't bother to reply back and adjusted my suit. It was futile trying to make him believe that I care for him. After he was my son.

"Information, now," I ordered and sat down on the couch that was located in his office.

He gritted, turned his back on me and marched upto the cabinet. Taking out 3 files he threw them in front of me and said, "Here is the details  from the last six months. Take it and get out of my office."

I kept the files aside and looked up at him calmly. He narrowed his eyes at me.

"I want to know why is Antonio here, on a wheel chair and Italy is no more in our control?"

And it took me 2 more hours to get every bit of information I needed. He really doesn't like to share anything, specially data related to his vast kingdom. That was the side all feared. The Capo di tutti capi. The boss of all the bosses of European Underworld.

But Sarah had changed a lot in Chase and that was for good. I wanted my son to fall in love, marry and have a proper family. Family, who would always stand beside him in thick and thin. His constant support system and a reason for him to come back home.

Work was work, but he needed to have a life beyond that too. Sarah was the best choice and I knew it.

Love was shining in both if their eyes as I saw them walking into the mansion. But had they confessed? I wasn't sure about that.

"Now why are you frowning? God, it's so damn difficult to keep you men happy," Lexi exaggerated and I rolled my eyes at her.

"Don't be so mean. I was just thinking whether they had told each other or not about their feeling."

Lexi shook her head, and gave me a annoyed look.

"Let the young couple breath. They are new into this. On the top of that, a baby is also involved. Let them realise their feelings for each other," she said and took out her phone from her handbag which was constantly vibrating.

"Excuse me." She walked out to receive the call and walked back within a minute.

"I need to leave for the hospital. They have the new medicine I ordered for Sarah."

"Take the driver," I suggested.

"That won't...."

She was about to say something when her cell phone vibrated again and she looked at it. Her eyes widened at whatever she saw and she swayed back. I quickly hold her as she looked she was almost about to faint.

"Lexi!"

She shook her head and stood back, a sudden determination and confidence shining in her eyes.

"I am okay, I need to leave," she said, shoving the phone quickly into her hand bag.

"Are you mad? You are not going anywhere like this," I said angrily.

"Shut up Andrew, I need to go to the hospital. It's urgent," she snarled out. She was not an aggressive woman at all, so I was completely baffled at her outburst. What was so urgent?

"Okay, I will inform the driver."

She shook her said, swallowing down audibly.

"I don't need a car. I have a few other works to finish. I would take a cab," she said, rubbing her throat.

No, something was definitely wrong.

"I can't allow that. Neither will Chase and you know that."

"Don't you trust me Andrew?" She suddenly asked, softly.

I gave her an incredulous look. Why was she even bringing trust into this.

"What's wrong with you Lexi? I don't understand." I asked.

"You guys made me feel suffocated years ago. That's why I walked away from this mansion. If you always send people behind my back In would do the same thing again," she warned.

"Lexi! They were all for your protection."

"I don't need your protection. Why don't you understand. I lived 9 years away from all this, safe and sound. Stop treating me like a porecelin doll," she shouted and walked away, stepping out of the mansion gates.

I gritted my teeth in rage and whirped around. She was being  stubborn, just like her sister. Childish and unreasonable. But I didn't want her to walk away again. So I would let it pass, only this time.

I stormed away from the scene and strode back into the mansion.

SARAH

Chase left a few minutes ago, leaving me only with Diana. Keven went with him, Melissa was busy with some other chore.

I excitedly sat beside Diana and she grinned back at me, her laptop in her hands. Dark smokey eyes gazed back into my crystal blue orbs and a question suddenly appeared into my head.

It had been so long I hadn't seen Draven. Almost months. Usually it didn't bother me, cause he was an asshole, atleast to me. But I had seen how happy Diana used to be with him. She was a different girl back then, soft spoken, timid and definitely not so bold. But she had strangely changed after I woke up from the coma.

I wonder why was he away from the mansion for long. Had Chase sent him to some mission?

"So, what do you wanna watch today? What about Godfather? I love that movie! Or what about a horror film? Evil dead?" she asked, her eyes shining mirthfully.

These definitely weren't the type of films we used to watch earlier. She was more into chickflicks like Notebook or PS : I love you.

"Can we watch something less violent?" I asked giving her a sheepish smile.

"Officourse, how about Final Destination?"

I shook my head in horror. I was definitely not going to watch any film with her anytime soon.

Taking the laptop out of her grasp I kept it aside and said, "Lets talk. I am not in mood to watch anything."

"Oh, okay." she nodded her head, almost dejectedly and I felt bad for turning down her movie offer.

"Tell me something about yourself. I doesnt really know much about you," I asked.

"Umm, there is nothing much to know though. As you already know by now I am law student, and it was bigbro who wanted me to pursue the career of my choice."

"I always wonder how did you end up here. Where are your parents?" I asked.

Diana lost her smile and her jaw clenched in rage. She turned her face away from me and dread filled me up.

Did I ask the wong question here?

"Diana, I am sor..."

"I never knew my father. And my mother....."

She trialed off and I decided to keep my mouth shut.

".... my mother wanted to get rid of me when she was pregnant. But I survived, unfortunately," she said, laughing out sadly.

"Hey don't say that. You are a real gem of a person." I told.

She gave me a tight smile, and wiped off a tear than had escaped her left eye.

"I don't like to talk about my parents Sarah. My mother was a drug addict who sold her body to anyone who would offer her money. Sometimes when she didn't get any customer she would come home and beat me to channel her pent up anger and frustrations. She blamed me for the widening of her vagina. Can you believe this!?And once...she...she almost sold me."

I gasped out in horror. How could a mother even do that to her child. Then and there I pulled her into me and hugged her tightly. She sobbed out on my shoulder and I stroked her back, trying to comfort her.

"Shh, it's okay. She was a horrible mother but I am happy that you are in a better place now sweetie," I said softly wiping away her tears after breaking the hug.

She nodded and I passed her a bottle of water.

"Let's not talk about those depressing things again, okay? They are your past and it's better that they stay there. I am really sorry for bringing the topic up."

"It's okay, you didn't know," she replied back.

I gave her one of my big smiles and she chuckled out. Making a person smile after she had a good cry was honestly the best thing.

"I usually don't cry, but today I got emotional thinking about them," she muttered and sighed out.

"It's okay, everyone need to have good cry every now and then. It's natural."

She nodded and gave me back the water table.

"So, let's talk about something that makes you smile and happy. Okay?"

She beamed at me and nodded. I decided to ask her about Draven, cause he was her happiness. I had seen how she had a natural glow on her face when they used to spend time together. They were almost inseparable.

"How is Draven? I have not seen him for so long."
