Caught

Lila POV

"Oh no you don't!" I hissed at the child who grabbed at my shirt. When the little brat realized that I wasn't going to feed her she instantly began to cry. "Oh do shut up!" I replied raising my hand getting ready to backhand the little brat.

"Don't you dare think about hitting my baby sister." Jerome said sneaking up behind us.

"She's not your sister anymore. Enjoy the short time you have left with her, because in half and hour, she's no longer my problem." I replied coldly as I shoved the brat into his arms.

"Your problem? Is that what she is to you?" He replied cradling the brat in his arms.

"Look, I never wanted the little brat. Yet, She's proven to be quite valuable. She's worth a lot of money so say your goodbyes and be quick about it." I replied. Jerome frowned.

"I won't let you do this."

"It's too late. It's done. Her new owner will be here any minute now." With that I grabbed the brat from Jerome's arms and shoved her into a small cage. "Stay away from that cage unless you want a beating of a lifetime boy." With that I placed the cage next to Sheba's cage. Where was that blasted man who gave his word that he'd come take the unwanted brat away?

Thomas POV

Where are we going?"

"It's a surprise Dear. You'll just have to wait and see." Martha replies with a smile.

"But I want to know now." Bruce replies with a pout.

At this, we both chuckle as Martha replies "but then it wouldn't be a surprise."

"I've got a surprise for you to my Dear." Thomas said handing her a small package. Upon opening it Martha looked at me in confusion.

"Why would you purchase these for me? You know that I can't become pregnant." Martha whispered her eyes filling with a look of hurt and tears.

"Why don't you read the inscription?"

"To my Dear beloved Queen. I hope you know just how much I love you. I know you've been feeling depressed lately. It breaks my heart to watch you put on a fake smile day after day. I think I've found a solution. Congratulations Mrs Wayne, you are going to be the mother of a beautiful baby girl."

"How did you manage?"

I cleared my throat as we pulled into the circus. "We are here."

Bruce bounced happily in his seat when he saw where we were. "Can I get Cotton candy and a Carmel apple?" Bruce asked as he dragged us both towards the entrance.

"I don't think..." Martha began to reply and instantly Bruce's face fell I could tell that he was going to possibly throw a fit any minute. So I intervened.

"We will see son." At this, Martha hit me on my shoulder playfully.

A little while later, I glanced at my watch it was quickly approaching 7:30. "I think it's time we take a bathroom break.

Bruce POV

Dad said that he had to use the bathroom and I frowned. There was so many things to see and do. As we walked to the bathroom I heard a strange sound. So I decided to follow it. Upon further inspection I realized that the sound was coming from a baby. A baby who was in a.. Cage??? What was a baby doing in a cage? "Mom, Dad come quick!"

"Get away from those cages boy!" A harsh voice demanded. Suddenly I was grabbed roughly from behind and found myself staring eye to eye with a very angry lady.

"Bruce there you are. We were so worried about you. What have we told about wandering off?" My mother scolded me. "I'm sorry if my son bothered you. It's his first time at a circus and he's a little excited. Could you be so kind as to point us in the direction of the bathrooms? I'm afraid we're a little lost."

"They are down that path around the corner now go away!"

"Why is that baby in a cage?" I ask before either of my mother could stop me.

"Nosy little brat aren't you. It's none of your business kid." The Lady replies rudely. "Now Get lost before I sick Sheba on you."

"Come along now Bruce Dear, I think we've taken up enough of this nice lady's time." My mother replied but I shook my head.

"But.."

"No buts young man. Let's go!" My mother replied sternly.

"But mom...."'

"Bruce Robert Allen Wayne you do as your told or we will leave the circus right now is that what you want?"

"No momma."

"Then let's go!" Mom replied grabbing my hand."

"Yes mama." I replied looking down at the ground in shame. As we turned to go, I spared one last glance at the mean lady and the small cage that held the baby and sighed.

Lila POV

After waiting for what seemed like hours I had begun to think that the man wasn't coming. I frowned when I heard the sound of someone snooping around outside my trailer.

I swore under my breath as I spotted a little brat snooping around near Sheba's cage. I knew I had to put a stop to this before things got out of hand. If he spotted the little brat I'd be in big trouble. "Get away from those cage boy!" I hissed angrily at the boy as I grabbed his arm and pulled him away from the cages.

It was then that I decided to scare the boy. "What are you doing here all by yourself? Don't you know it's dangerous to wander the circus alone? Lots of kids tend to go missing from circuses every year because they wandered off. You should get back to your parents before something bad happens."

"Bruce thank goodness your alright." A fairly beautiful woman said hugging the small child. Then her face became serious and she frowned. "What on Earth possessed you to wander off like that? Your lucky this nice lady found you. I am so sorry that he disturbed you. It's his first time at the circus and he's a little excited.

"Whatever." I replied rolling my eyes at her.

"I'm afraid we are a bit lost could you point us in the direction of the bathrooms." The lady replied blushing slightly.

"Down that path and around the corner now go away." I replied in irritation.

"Thank you. Come along Bruce we've taken up enough of this nice lady's time." I sighed in relief as she turned to go.

"Why is there a baby in that cage?" The boy demanded ignoring his mother.

"Nosy little brat you've got there isn't he? It's none of your business kid. Now run along before I sick Sheba on you." I warned.

"Come along Bruce."

"But."

"No buts little man lets go!"

"But mom..."

"Bruce Robert Allen Wayne you will do as your told or we will leave the circus right now. Is that what you want?"

"No."

"Then let's go."

"Yes mama."

I frowned as I saw the young boy glance back in my direction his eyes focusing on the small cage. "Finally." I sighed in relief. I was just about to go inside my trailer when I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Now what?"

"What kind of greeting is that?" The man who had agreed to purchase the little brat asked and I sighed.

"Your late."

"Am I?" He replied with a smile his eyes sparkling in amusement.

"The brat has been nothing but trouble all day long. You almost didn't have the brat, I mean, precious little thing to take with you."

"Oh?"

"I caught some rich brat snooping around my trailer. He found your precious cargo and was curious. He started asked all sorts of questions."

"Now why would he do that?" The man asked cocking an eyebrow at me.

"I suppose it's because he saw the little brat in her cage."

"I'm sorry her what?"

"Her cage. Now where's my payment? I could really use a high right now."

"It's all here as promised. Your going to have to wait for the other stuff. I couldn't risk bringing it here during circus hours. With the security and all." I growled in frustration but the man tossed me a small bag. "A sample to hold you through the night. Enjoy. Now where is the precious little one?"

"She's in the small cage next to Sheba."

Third Person POV

I couldn't believe that this woman has actually put my baby in a cage. I coughed "she's not your baby." My conscience reminded me.

"Yeah well, maybe I want to keep the little cutie for myself and tell the Wanes that the deal fell through and that I would find them a replacement quickly." I replied as I removed the sweet little one from the cage.

"You know you can't do that. The client paid a fortune for that child. Now is not the time to go all sentimental over some kid. You've got a reputation to uphold." My conscience reminded me. I sighed. "Let's get this over with. Come Desdemona, let us seek out some friendlier skies."

"Hay where are you taking my baby sister and what time should I expect you to be returning with her?" The Young boy who I had interacted with earlier in the day demanded.

As I glanced at my watch I sighed. I didn't have time to get into an argument with this kid. "Lila!"

"What can I do for you love?" She giggled stumbling out of her trailer a bottle of alcohol in one hand. The small bag which was already half empty in the other.

"I have got to meet with my clients. I don't have time to explain things to your kid."

"I just wanted to know where he was taking Desdemona and when she will be back." The boy asked the heartbreak in his voice clearly evident.

"None of your business boy!" Lila replied smacking the boy across his face.

To my surprise, the boy stood his ground. "It is my business! She's my baby sister!" He replied with a slight growl.

At this, Lila giggled "not anymore. The brat, I mean precious little thing won't be returning. I told you earlier she's no longer my concern or yours. Now mind your own business and get lost or you can feel the sting of this whip upon your back." Lila demanded grabbing a nearby lion tamers whip.

I could see the pain in the kid's gaze and instantly felt a twinge of guilt. "Lila isn't it punishment enough knowing that he will never see his baby sister again?"

At this, Lila giggled and lowered the whip. "I suppose that Your right."

As I turned to leave with the baby, she made grabby hands towards her brother as if begging him to help her. She whimpered tearfully.

"Shh little one. It's alright. Please don't cry." I said as I rocked the baby back and forth in an effort to stop her crying. "Desdemona doesn't sound like a fitting name for such a sweet child like you." I smiled as the sweet little looked at me and cooed.
