~Lucy's POV

I was in the car with Nash. Capricorn was driving us to the airport where we would fetch Natsu.

I didn't know anymore what Clarissa was to Natsu. I'm being dumb now, thinking and whining about something that happened years ago.

"Miss Lucy..."

What happened to them? I can't drag Nash into this.

"Miss Lucy," Capricorn said again, louder this time and I shrieked. "We're here," he said and I looked out the window.

Guess my mind really drove itself. I opened the doors before Capricorn could even make an attempt to get out of the car.

I really don't need people treating me like a queen or royal or whatever. I'm just Lucy Heartfilia-Dragneel.

Nash stepped out after me and took my hand. "Never let go of my hand," I told Nash sternly.

What? The airport is huge. "Understood."

I went to section 12 and waited there. Sure enough I saw Natsu walking out with a suitcase.

He spotted us and smiled. He walked to Nash and me and engulfed us in a hug. "God damn, I missed you guys so much."

Nash jumped and Natsu caught him in his arms. "I missed you too, dad."

We talked while we were walking towards the car. Or rather Natsu complained the whole way back. "I don't understand why I have to attend these stupid meetings with people who barely know shit."

I snickered and ruffled his hair. "You big sad boy."

He immediately pushed my hand away and tried to get his hair back to what it was. I shook my head. This guy.

We sat in the car and Capricorn driving us home.

"So how was it in America beside from the meetings?" I asked Natsu and he shrugged. "It was okay."

I nodded and looked out the window. I didn't know a conversation I could come up with. I did look at Natsu telling Nash some stories about him fighting off the bad guys. My eyes softened. Natsu is mine, I should be in no position to even doubt him.

We are a family. He has a son who looks up to him. He would never want to gift Nash a fatherless home.

When we went home Natsu sent Nash to his room.

We both walked to our room and Natsu closed the door when I stepped inside. He came from behind me and embraced me with his two strong hands.

He began putting my hair to the side and kissing my neck from behind. "I missed you," he said.

I sighed and closed my eyes. No matter how I feel, his touch always makes me calm. "I you too."

That isn't correct grammar, but yeah. He understands me, so that is all that matters, right?

"Did something happen?" Natsu asked while I leaned my head against his chest. I shook my head, not wanting to bother him right now.

"Not now," I said and Natsu let me go. He began unpacking his suitcase. I sat there watching him. Suddenly he threw his shirts on the ground, obviously annoyed.

He looked at me with his eyebrows furrowed. "What happened? You normally aren't this distant." I forgot how well he knows me.

"Can we talk about this later? You have a whole flight behind your back. I'm sure you want to rest," I said, smiling slightly.

He walked to me and pinned me on the bed. He held both of my hands with his one hand. The other on my waist to keep me in place and his legs were preventing my from kicking him.

"Lucy," he began sternly. "I'm your husband so you better tell me what's wrong. And I know when something is wrong. I want to help you with whatever you need help with. But I can't help you if I don't know about what I need to help you with."

Slow down there, buddy. That were a lot oh 'help.' I rolled my eyes in a think manner and finally I understood what Natsu was saying... (me in German;)

I stared at him, not saying anything. Natsu noticed and began to get impatient. "Tell me."

He pressed harder and tightened his grip on my hands. It hurt, so I made a noise. Natsu immediately loosened his grip. "Damn Luce. I come back from a long week only to see you ignoring me? Why won't you just tell me? Don't you trust me enough? Am I not worthy of your honesty? Am I such a bad husband you won't even reply to my question? How many times do I have to say 'we're a team'?"

I looked at him with wide eyes. Why was he thinking so badly of himself? He let me go and stood up from our bed. A hurt look passed on his face as he clenched his hands.

"I'll be in my Home Office..." he mumbled and left the room. We never had a misunderstanding based on stubbornness.

Damn it!

I threw a pillow to the ground, hard. I let out a cry. I'm so stupid. He isn't a bad husband. I am just a horrible wife.

He's is mine and he isn't going anywhere.

Without thinking I wildly opened the door and rushed to Natsu. I opened his office door and he instantly looked up. He saw the worried look in my eyes, making his eyes soften.

I was consumed with guilt. Both of us weren't talking, speaking, moving or even blinking.

"Clarissa." There, I said it. I said the issue that has been bothering me. He raised his eyebrow.

After a second of silence he opened his mouth. "She didn't hurt you, I hope?"

I shook my head. "She said you would choose her above me. I couldn't figure out why so I snooped through your computer and found a picture of you and her engaged." Wow, that came out pretty good.

His eyes went wide and he had his mouth open. He finally closed it again, shaking his head.

He looked at me and sighed. "It's a long story. We fell in love, both thinking we were born for each other. I proposed, she said yes. When we were planning the wedding everything went wrong. We started fighting a lot. That went on for months. We realized that maybe we weren't that good for each other as we thought. Broke up, but promised to stay friends."

"How did you go from engaged to friends?"

He smiled sadly, thinking back to it. "Believe me, we ignored each other for a year or two. Kinda funny how we broke that promise immediately. We are okay now though."

I walked up to him and hugged him. "I'm so sorry," I said, I felt him slowly stroking my hair.

"I would never choose anyone above you, remember that. You and Nash are the sole purpose of my life. I love you both to death."

Him speaking so slowly helped me calm down as Natsu slowly shushed me. He knew how to handle me in the last few years. Sometimes I have miserable mood swings. Not for being pregnant... just for my period days.

"Are we fine now?" Natsu asked gently. I nodded. "I hope. I'm so stupid to think... that you were married to two persons. And I'm sorry for being suspicious or jealous of someone who was in the past."

He shook his head and smiled. "I vowed that day. I will always choose you."

The next day Clarissa came to the mafia. Nash wanted to practice his kicks, so we let him. Of course someone was watching him.

When we walked the basement in,
it immediately got quiet. Everyone put on their respectful faces, and gave nods to Natsu. "Did anything happen?"

Gray stepped to us and shook his head. "We handled some illegal dealers," he answered easily and did with Natsu the normal boys handshake.

I snorted. "Like we are legal."

Some snickered and laughed. "Got a point there, Lucy," Gray said and shrugged.

Clarissa came inside too, everyone looked at her and some even nodded towards her. What the chicken nuggets?

"Natsu!" she said and ran to hug him. I clenched my hands. Don't be jealous. Don't be jealous.

Don't.

Be.

Freaking.

Jealous!

She let go and smiled widely. You could clearly see they were still comfortable with each other.

You know the worst thing?

I saw pink tints on Natsu's face!!!

"Lucy," Clarissa said, 'politely.' I just nodded and she instantly rolled her eyes without being noticed by anyone except me.

"Hey Clarissa," Natsu said, smiling lightly. She waved and then left. Natsu and I went to his office.

He began to work while I was sitting on the couch with my arm crossed.

Natsu noticed my silence and sighed. "You are jealous, aren't you?"

I ignored him and he mumbled something to himself. Probably 'I knew it.'

He walked to and sat down next to me. He picked my hand and held it tightly. He looked me straight in the eyes.

"I told you that you're my world. I love you and will choose you. If you don't believe my words I will gladly prove them." At the end he kissed my back hand, but the whole time he looked at me sincerely.

"Then prove it," I said. I knew he was saying the truth... I just wanted to know how he is going to prove it.

He raised his eyebrow. "...Fine... Tonight, 8:00 pm."

.
.
.

I was waiting for Natsu to arrive home. We decided to let Nash sleep at Gray's house. Because of course, we trust him. Natsu trusts him more than anyone, even me. How stupid that may sound, they have been friends since forever. They took bullets for each other.

I saw Natsu coming home when the car parked in front of the house. He went to pick me up and looked at my outfit. A nice skirt with a decent top. He wore just some simple pants and shirt, making me think he didn't care about how he looked on this date.

I felt giddy though. It has been a while since we have been on a date.

He didn't say anything but took my hand. He let me to his car and we drove off to somewhere. "You look beautiful," Natsu finally spoke. I saw him looking at me from his mirror.

He had one of his smirks on. "Close your eyes, we are almost there," he suddenly said.

I closed my eyes, thinking he brought me to one fancy restaurant or something chic.

"Open," hè said. I opened my eyes and found myself at McDonald's.

I was confused but mostly just surprised. I looked at him and he stood there still smiling. I thought he would want to spend his money on me. To let me see how much he is ready to give up...

Not this... "Something wrong, Luce?" Natsu asked.

I sighed. "I thought you were going to bring me to something expensive?" He gave me an insulted look.

"And why would I do that?"

Okay, I think I didn't hear him quite well. There is nothing wrong with McDonald's, only how will he show me he loves me? I know love doesn't come from money, but how would he show me otherwise?

I opened my mouth, but before I can speak he interrupted me.

"Luce, I know you. You hate expensive things, so why should I bring you to something you don't like? I love you, and that's why I keep you in my mind with what you like and don't like. Just admit it. You love this fastfood restaurant. If I didn't keep you in my mind, you'll already have got all the clothes and things from every store."

Everything he said was true.

"Besides, I think some quality time would be better than forced conversations?" he said, a grin beginning to form.

I smiled. "Sweet," I said and gave him a quick kiss. He responded quickly and kissed me back. We went inside and ordered things.

I ordered a Mac Chicken, chicken nuggets ;) and some fries.

... Natsu chose almost every burger and a milkshake.

How this man stays in shape always manage to surprise me.

We also ordered ice cream and some drinks. We found a nice place and sat down after we got our food.

I sighed while eating my fries. "Clarissa got everyone's respect, huh?"

He swallowed his bite. "What you mean?"

I shrugged. "People nod in acknowledgement to powerful people.
Clarissa got nods."

He mirrored my movement. "She's rescued many members, completed lots of important missions and made sure to keep in contact with almost everyone. She's well respected."

"I feel stupid next to her," I admitted.

He tilted his head, staring at me blankly. "You shouldn't be. She's nothing compared to you."

"You're my husband. You should say that," I playfully said.

"And I'm still speaking facts," he snapped childishly.

I burst out laughing. What's wrong with the new generation. Facts, period, no cap, all useless sayings to agree with someone. "Act your age."

He grunted. "I- I cannot hear you," he said while making his voice fragile, old and weak like the voice of someone above eighty.

He grinned when he made me laugh again, nodding to himself.

"You're cute."

"Cute and me don't go together. Also, I'd appreciate you not bringing my employees into a date."

I softened my eyes. He purposely called Clarissa his employee to make it clear there was nothing between them.

"Aye aye captain," I muttered.

He rolled his eyes. "Act your age," he imitated.

"You're so stupid I love you."

Without keeping up with the time we were already eating the ice cream and suddenly Natsu chuckled. I raised an eyebrow. He tried to hold back his chuckle, it obviously didn't work.

"You've got some ice cream on your face, babe," he said. He leaned in and licked the cream from my nose. It tickled.

Then he wiped with a paper the rest from my nose. "Thanks."

"Everything for you."

And now I understand the saying: It's the little things that matter.

Because to me...

This simple date was the best thing of the week.

Natsu held my hand and stroked it with his thump. "Did I prove it?"

I decided to test him, "How can you prove it to me with this simple thing?"

He rolled his eyes and then smiled, "Because you know me, and that means you know I wouldn't do this to any other person."

"Not valid."

He still smiled.

"I don't need to prove it, because I already did, a long time ago. The day I proposed, the day we married, the day Nash was born..."

My lips automatically curved into a smile. If he didn't love me, he would have divorced me already, left me and everything else, but he didn't.

And I'll believe he won't near the future.

I cupped his cheek with my hand. "Yup, you did."
