The way I'm drinkin' you down
Like I wanna drown, like I wanna end me
------
"...Tremble alone"
My eyes fluttered open, vision blackened. My heart pumped loudly mixed with a feeling of my lungs burning.
My body flung up, my feeble string thin arms supporting my body. Scanning my surroundings, I threw my head back, closing my eyes and exhaling loudly.
"What's wrong with me?"
"La la la"
An eerily sound filling the room, reached my ears. I failed to notice it when I woke up but now it reached my ears, loud and clear.
"Birds are silent...."
It didn't stop.
"....for the night...
Shut your eyes and utter no cries."
I shut my eyes, trying to get rid of the melody, a melody too eerie for anyone at this hour. The creaking of the bed passed unnoticed my ears. The voice kept singing, each time it felt a step closer to me.
"As the witcher, brave and bold
Paid in coin of gold..."
The mattress of the bed shifted indicating the presence of someone but I didn't notice.
"....stop.....stop..."
I mumbled, draping my palms around my ears.
"He'll chop you and slice you..."
The melody didn't stop.
"Cut you and dice you
Eat you up whole
Eat you whole."
".....no no....no please.....please go away."
Tears formed in my eyes, I prayed for the melody to stop.
"Ting tong."
I darted my head towards the left, only to find emptiness.
"From behind."
My right ear pricked as my head shot in the right direction.
"You hear me."
My sweat trickled down my hair as the sound reached my ears. The room was empty, with the bed beneath me and an empty desk.
"I just want you to come with me."
The words mixed up echoing back and forth in my head.
"Found you."
"Kill it...
Crush it."
Every word started blending into each other.
It was chaos.
It was messed.
It was torture.
I squeezed my head, clenching my eyes shut, gritting my teeth, the words banging into my skull.
The world swirled, everything was on wheels. Millions of ants crawled up to my vision.
"Kill."
MAKE IT STOP!
"Wake up, young boy. You're sweating like crazy. Bad dream?"
My eyes fell on her, her green glistening eyes digging into mine in concern.
"Ah... W-was I sleeping?"
"What else should you do at this hour? It's just 4 in the morning, you haven't even slept for 3 hours."
"S-so it was a nightmare? Again?"
"I guess. Now get back to sleep. You're tired."
A nightmare? Again? Why do I keep having those so often?
Or was it really a nightmare?
When she saw him fell asleep, she looked over at her hand. A half-filled bottle of medicine rolled on her fingers and she smiled.
This is fun.
. . .
Around 7 in the evening it was time for Lynn's shift. She greeted the customers of the cafe with a smile on her face, a smile too sweet to be suspected.
"You should come to work more often. There are way more customers on the days you have a shift."
Her co-worker, Park Jimin, commented.
"Look at the line of boys today. You sure know how to attract attention huh?"
He chuckled, watching her count the bills.
"I do my job and if there are more customers because of me," she turned her head towards him and smirked, "I'll take full advantage of that."
"I can see why boss likes you. You've got a business mindset."
"I feel honored if he likes me. And you shouldn't be complimenting another girl when you already have one girlfriend right? Jimin?"
The way she said his name made him feel even more flirty than he already was. But Park Jimin wasn't a man who would cheat someone, so he decided to just stop there, even though he liked flirting with her.
The door of the cafe flung open as 4 people entered the cafe, making sure that their presence is known.
"Welc--"
As soon as her eyes landed on the set of cold grey eyes, she felt a spark of excitement rush through her body.
It was the same cop, the tiny cold-eyed man she saw at college, the other day.
The same level of excitement, filled with a touch of uneasiness passed through the eyes of the older man. From his 15 years of experience, he could tell by looking at the eyes of people what their behaviour held.
But the look this particular girl gave him felt different. She seemed like no ordinary dangerous person. She had the eyes of a predator, he could tell.
She had madness flaming in those pretty eyes of her.
He didn't realize, he had stopped in his tracks just to stare at that predatory gaze of hers.
"Welcome to our cafe."
Lynn bowed, her face mixed with a new level of amusement.
"Yo Levi, move your ass. We're literally blocking the door 'coz of you."
Hange informed him and pulled him aside by his arm. Despite the fact that he was a small man, he was way too strong for his size.
"Leave my fucking arm four eyes."
"Chill man. We came to have some fun time and you're already ruining the mood."
Behind the pair, the remaining two officers gave rather dark vibes.
"Why do we have to come with this bastard? He ain't in our team, senior?"
Yoongi scoffed, giving a cold shoulder to the uninvited guest for the millionth time that day.
"Believe me, even I don't wanna see your stupid face right now. I only came here because Hange wanted me to."
The other man, Lee Jinwoo, retorted back.
"Ah come on you two, don't be such a party pooper. Lemme tell you good news, order anything you want 'coz it's on your senior, Levi!"
"What!?"
Lynn kept her eyes on them, noticing the tension between the other two males.
Hmm, what's that? They've got internal conflicts? Isn't that just great?
Her grin widened as she took orders from another customer. From the corner of her eye, she could see one of them coming forward, to order.
I got my prey.
The male had soft-looking light brown hair. His features were quite remarkable and he had the look of a cute guy. Contradictory to his cute look, he had a very sharp tongue and rude behavior, so it was hard for girls to stay with him for long.
"Are you ready to give your order sir?" Lynn asked him.
The minute Jinwoo's eyes locked into her, he was lost in his words, lost in her eyes.
"A-ah y-your order?" He spoke nonsense.
Lynn kept smiling at him, making sure that he will remember her.
"Sir I was asking about your order. May I help you take the order?"
"Oh y-yeah take me-- I mean I'd like your help."
'Holy shit--' He thought, 'She's so pretty.'
The man was oblivious to Lynn's calculated behaviour. He took her for a pretty, young girl. He couldn't get his eyes off her and tried his best at flirting. To his surprise, he got a positive response from her.
Little did he know his one choice would destroy his life.
From the corner of his eyes, Levi watched the two chat. He didn't like the fact that his junior was flirting with someone of possible danger. But he couldn't just blame that girl without any proof, purely on the basis of his instinct.
He moved from his chair and went up to where the two were having a conversation.
"Are you single?" Jinwoo asked, leaning over to the counter.
"Still looking for Prince Charming." Lynn gave him a shy smile.
"Yah, get the hell outta here if you're done ordering."
Upon hearing his senior's voice, he flinched. Turning back he met the cold and unbothered gaze of this senior. Getting indicated with what to be done, he got up and with a disappointed look went to his seat.
Levi locked his gaze with her. A spark went in between the two as both of them felt drawn towards each other,
not in a romantic sense.
Lynn felt her blood rush as the short man in front of her analyzed her. She felt excited, excited about seeing him suffer. She felt a sudden urge to jump from behind her stall and pounce at him, tear him apart. She knew he's gonna be trouble.
On the other hand, Levi could sense her aura better than any one. He could see the calculations behind her sweet masked smile. His eyes scanned the girl in front of him and for the first time in forever, he felt he's looking at someone of the same standard, except she's way more dangerous.
"How may I help you, sir?"
Lynn didn't bow. She kept her gaze fixed at the male, a sick smile running through her face.
"You're from Ravenwood Academy. I saw you the other day when I visited your college."
Levi wasn't the type to beat the bush.
"Yeah, I remember. I must have made a presence that you remember a mere girl like me."
"A girl of such distinct appearance is hard to forget. Plus you have quite a fire burning in your eyes."
Levi wanted to express the madness he saw in her sharp eyes, but he stopped.
"I guess I'm very confident."
"That sure does help." He paused and leaned forward.
"What's your name, kid?" Arching one of his brows, he asked her.
"I've been blessed with the name of Lynn. Why do you ask, sir?" She smiled back.
"Just. Curiosity. I was hoping if you know the girl in your University who's name is Kim Eunha. By any chance, you know her?"
"I haven't seen her but I've heard that she's gone missing for a few days."
"You've got the correct information. We're trying to find where she is, but surprisingly we don't have a lead even after 4 days."
Pathetic.
"That's sad to hear. I hope you'll have some lead soon."
"Yeah. I hope that too."
Both of them sensed the sarcasm in the other's voice.
Levi lied about having no leads.
And Lynn knew it.
