Chapter 24
I walked behind Yoongi as I looked at the grand hall where the party was.
I felt so embarrassed. He wasn't going to sell me. This is what overthinking is kids. But for someone who works in crime, this would be their first thought too so you cannot blame me.
Everywhere around us were people I wouldn't call good people. My eyes fell on a few well known criminals known for civilian crimes who were often the point of discussion in our office.
Samuel Tao, a businessman prosecuted for murder of his wife got away because of paying the office was drinking champagne with a woman much younger to him.
Kristina Kim, worked as a prostitute before marrying a Chinese business man. Had an affair with his rival, also murdered her husband. Spent 8 years in prison but came out and later married someone who was a Yakuza. His husband and her were standing there talking to someone.
I wasn't even surprised Bangtan was friends with them. Similar fruits of the same tree.
We stopped where Bangtan was. I looked at them, looking sleek and handsome in suits. If I had seen men like these on the street and they weren't Mafia members, my heart would have skipped a beat.
Jimin smirked as he walked to me. "You look civil for a change. Funny though I can see the scars under that makeup", he snickered.
I just glared at him, not being able to speak anything because I was still rattled from my little outburst before.
"Move Jimin", Jin said as he pushed the man out of the way. "I am glad you are here Yura, you look great"
I might look great but I didn't exactly feel great. I smiled at him before mouthing a little
'Happy Birthday'. I had to agree. Jin was probably the one person I admired out of this lot. He was helpful and he was gentle. If and when these guys got caught, I was going to make sure he didn't face harsh consequences. He wasn't evil like the others, he was just greedy for money.
Jhope walked up to me. "Good to see you again Yura-ssi, heard from Ilsung that you thought you were being sold off in an auction. You watch too many crime shows, don't you?"
Hearing about my hysteric outburst, all of them were laughing like crazy. Even Yoongi. I felt so embarrassed as I looked down, not sure how to react.
I stood there awkwardly while other boys interacted with the guests. It was safe to say that the air smelled of crime to be honest. I just stood there and hoped none of those guests recognized me.
It was time for dinner and Ilsung who had been assigned to guard me ushered me to the table where Bangtan was seated.
I sat between Jhope and Yoongi. For a moment I couldn't believe I was being treated so well. For starters, every time I had been held hostage, I went days without starving. I was tortured for days for information. But here I was, staying a perfectly fine room, wearing good clothes and eating well at five star resorts like these.
The food came in and they served the first thing. Broccoli stew. Fuck it.
I looked at it in disgust as I picked out all the green florets and placed them on the side.
Yoongi took a bite of his food as he watched beside him Yura pick out all broccolis and put it on the side. A smile formed on his face.
Lily walked to the convenience store, tightly clutching the paper with a list of groceries her father asked her to buy.
She walked in browsing the aisles as she placed things in her cart. She reached the ramen aisle and put some despite knowing how her father would scold her later for buying unhealthy things like these.
She was about to pay for the food when she noticed Suga sitting on the side eating ramen.
"Suga?", she called for him.
"Lily", he said almost panicking at the sight of him.
"What are you doing?"
"Eating", he said.
"It's almost dinner time. Why would you eat ramen now?"
"He eats here everyday", the cashier chimed in and Yoongi looked at him with wide eyes.
"WHAT", Lily yelled. "YOU EAT AT A CONVENIENCE STORE EVERYDAY?"
"Lily let me explain"
Without a word she placed all the contents of her cart on the cashier's counter. He billed her and she put the change back in her small bag. Yoongi stood on the side waiting for a chance to speak.
"Let's go", she said holding his arm.
"Where?", he asked confused.
"Home", she stated simply as she pulled him along. "You are having dinner with us"
"No", he yelled. "No I cannot do that"
"I am not asking you. I stated it", she said ringing the bell.
Mr Kang opened the door of the house. "Dad, Suga is going to have dinner with us today"
Mr Kang smiled at him. "He is more than welcome, I hope you like Beef Stew and noodle salad Suga. I make amazing stew. Lily loves it, you will love it too"
Yoongi gulped. He loved Beef stew but he could count on his one hand the amount of times he had eaten it. A simple traditional dish like that was a luxury for him.
"Lily, I don't want to be a burden", he said softly to the girl as he saw Mr Kang disappear into the kitchen.
"Suga if you are worried that we will be short of food if you eat, let me tell you - My father has absolutely no sense of how
Measurements work. He makes enough to feed an entire community. You could have 10 people eat it and still there would be leftovers. So don't worry"
Lily smiled seeing Suga pout his lips. She knew why he was eating at convenience stores. His mother must not care for him enough to cook. She felt bad for him and wanted to do whatever she could to make him feel better.
Mr Kang yelled for the kids and they came into the dining room. He sat on one chair, beside Yura as the man served them. He was a great father and Yoongi could never be more jealous of Lily for having a parent who cared for her.
"This old man put broccolis inside, shit", she whispered at the sight of the stew. She picked them one by one and put them out of the bowl in a separate plate.
"Eat this please", she said to him. "I don't like it either", Yoongi responded back.
She stomped harshly on his foot and Yoongi opened his mouth to scream before she put the broccoli in.
"I am sorry Suga, I hate this. And my dad is adamant on making me eat it. I will remember this sacrifice always", she said putting more broccoli in his plate.
He chewed on the green vegetable but a smile was on his face at how cute Lily was. Without a word he ate it all.
They ate in silence later. This was the best meal he had in months. Mr Kang was so gracious, he forced fed Yoongi until he was so full he couldn't move. Lily even packed a couple of boxes of stew for him so he could take it home.
He really had found someone who made him want to live, to wake up as he looked at the girl giving him instructions on how to reheat this later.
"What are you doing?"
I turned to see Yoongi staring at the mountain of broccolis on one side in my plate.
"I don't like it", I said softly.
He paused before stabbing each with his fork and taking them in his plate. I watched until all of it was out of my plate and I had the biggest smile on my face.
I hated those green things with all my being. Instead of hurting me physically they could have just made me eat this forcefully and I would have cried and told them the truth.
Shhhh, Don't give them ideas Y/N.
