Chapter 0 - Prologue, pt II

PLANET : Travias set_n'C,
TIME : Unregistered,

THE SKY WAS RED, like it had shared colours with his blood.

"I know... I can't defeat you", he said while struggling to stand up on his feets, covered in blood. "but I must… not give up…".

Strugglingly so he looked up with a gaze full of despair. And up in the sky his eyes landed on a silhouette of a person, floating in the mid-air. Behind that person's body there was a huge celestial thing, appearing to be 10 to 15 times bigger than the Moon looks from earth. That silhouette appeared to be wearing something kind of an overcoat, while its long end was floating in the air like things do in space.

"Hmm... let's see then, how much you can endure?" That silhouette said in a deep demonic voice.

He then pulled his right arm up while pointing a finger at the guy on the ground. And as he did that, his body started being pulled upwards by an unknown force.

He was confused about what was happening to him and started getting more and more terrified as his body began being pulled upwards.

That guy screamed as his muscles started getting ripped apart by the pulledge. It seemed like he was being hung by an invisible chain which has a huck pierced through the sternum of his rib cage and that person in the sky is controlling him like a puppet master by it.

"WAAAA… SCREW YOUUUU, ONEEEE!!" He called while cursing him. "YOU CAN'T DIE 'CAUSE OF YOUR IMMORTALITY, SO YOU'RE HERE TESTING MY PATIENCE OF ACCEPTING DEATH!!"

"MOON'S CRYS…!" One said in his cold demonic voice again and shifted the direction of where his finger was pointing, to down.

Out of nowhere numerous blue rays of light emerged in the sky above them and a blue hue mixed in the atmosphere, making it look purple. They started drawing shapes that looked like swords. While the tips of them were pointing down at him. Then soon those outlines of swords started to transform into real ones.

"NOOOOO…!!" He screamed, in fear this time, as his sights matched the sharp tips of the blades hanging up above, pointing at him.

It was like an area with 50 metres of radius up in the sky, where all those swords had been summoned, ready to strike down at him. And so in the next second they did. All those blades charged at him at the same time, as they fell down. Some of them cut his muscles, making a few scratches and passed down by the sides, while others pierced through his body, pulling him down along with them. He started screaming in fear and pain as he witnessed them piercing his body but his screams did nothing but made the scene more miserable for anyone to watch. But still it seemed as if it didn't affect that guy's heart even a bit.

His body slammed on the ground and he finally stopped falling. The swords that had made just a few scratches and passed down had pierced the ground and had got stuck all over there like trees in a jungle. While in the middle of them, he was there. His body had become like a rough piece of land after falling and there were just here and there swords pierced in his body which were now lifting him up, above from the ground. But surprisingly there wasn't any blade stuck in his head and it was hanging down while he continued laying on his bed of blades. Some of his body parts like his hands were a little more above than the other from the ground because of the blades that were lifting them. As for his other parts like his chest, they were a bit lower because of their weight. The muscles of the parts that had been pierced were also emerged by the blades that were stuck there and blood was draining down from them. The ground beneath him had become all red but yet he was still alive.

One, who was floating in the mid-air finally came down and went through that forest of blades. He stopped before him and looked down at the person he had made almost dead.

While laying down there he also struggled and looked up at the person who had got him in the condition he was in at that moment. He was still in his overcoat and his head was under a hoodie, making his face not visible. But one thing was more noticeable now, that his overcoat had violet string like stripes along with its black colour.

"You know? I personally don't like these overcoats much," One said casually while looking around at his overcoat. He looked down at him again and continued, "they make it uncomfortable to move in hand to hand combat."

"Da…mn yuh!" He said and rested his head down, "wh…y you even care? You can't die…!".

"Oh, come on. Stop calling me that already! It's not like I'm completely immortal. Besides you too have euthanasia. I didn't call you lucky for that." He said it like he was having a conversation with a normal person. All of a sudden he started looking up after saying that. It was as if he was thinking of something. Suddenly he looked down at him again and continued, "Oh, by the way, I've always been curious about this euthanasia ever since I heard of it. I've heard it allows you to die only when you wish for it. It's just I think of dying countless times a day and I'm sure many of you do too. Doesn't it kill you??"

"Hah!" A laugh escaped as he heard that but he started coughing blood because of his injuries. "One…" he said as it stopped, "Don't you have a bit of dignity for a dying person?"

"Dignity? Aa… I don't know. All of you were the same for me and this fight wasn't interesting at all, so I guess no. But like you said, if you really are going to die then why not answer my question before it, if you can."

After hearing that his expressions really changed. It was like he wasn't feeling the pain of those pierced swords anymore but enjoying the moment.

"I see… you are a free minded person. Well I guess I won't regret having my last talk of life with you." He said with a smile and closed eyes. "But we are not like you, One. We work with our fellow comrades and so to have the same goal and motive we must follow the rules and stay disciplined."

"So, you have a rule of not revealing your secrets to your enemies?"

"Yes and that's why we have this euthanasia. So that if ever one of us is captured and tortured to reveal our secrets then we can escape that misery." He continued, "It's like a pop-up window that appears in front of our vision whenever we think of dying. With two options, Yes and No. But picking yes is the same as jumping off a tall building, it requires courage and that's why I've never been able to do it."

"So it is as I had thought. Since keeping one alive is more difficult than killing one it's just a blessing of death when you don't have the wish of living anymore but not life when you're at the verge of death? You guys also use eshpher to stay hung at the tip of life's rope!!"

"You figured it all out just by those few words of mine?" He said in surprise as he lifted up his head and looked at him.

"I had always been curious so these were just my theories."

"I see…" he relaxingly said while adding a long tone to it at the end, "this curiosity is a curse to this universe."

"Then why did you tell me all this?" One asked.

This question of One made him fall in a deep thought. "It's because all those 10,000 of my comrades are dead now, more specifically you killed them. They choose death over standing against the misery given by you." He said with despair, "Now I'm the only one left, with my whole body almost paralyzed! I just don't know what else I would be able to do by not telling you about it."

"You guys travel thousands of light years. Why not terraform another planet?"

This time it made him angry. He pulled up his head in rage and stared at him with bloody red eyes. He said, "IT'S BECAUSE WE DESERVE IT, IT'S OUR BIRTHRIGHT! OUR ANCESTORS HAD ALSO OWNED THAT PLACE!!"

"Your ancestors were also the ones who did this to you…" One said. As he heard that something in his mind stirred and he relaxingly dropped his head down in shock. "...our ancestors!!"

"You are right, it's not who deserves what! In fact-" Suddenly he started coughing blood, this time more heavily which interrupted his speech while those blades made his injuries and condition even worse. But as soon as it rested he continued, "In fact, Nobody… deserves none, but it's just what we obtain, and to obtain is the hunger of power, which causes wars…"

"We are not angels of death. Nor demons of justice. We are just soldiers, killing to save… lives!!".
