48. Auras

Aiden is hanging from the chains. His eyes are half open and half closed. But that is not what captures my attention. There stands a were right in front of Aiden. He has a syringe in his hands that is still embedded in Aiden's arm.

He is not alone. A few more weres surround our other weres. I see Henry and others bound to the wall. Their arms however are not hanging above their heads. Instead they are cuffed directly to the wall as they hang by their waists. To top that I see a few stands with blood bags. They seem to be drawing their blood.

The place was not like this when I had projected myself astrally. Seeing invaders they growl at us and attack us. Giasemi and I let out roars in response.

I run towards the were standing in front of Aiden as he approaches me. I see his leg twitch that gives him away. He is going to kick me. I growl and buck up to block him but before he reaches me, I see him clutching at his neck as if somebody is squeezing before his floats in the air and dangles for a few moments before life leaves his body and he drops dead to the ground.

I turn and look at Giasemi who is nodding at me. For a moment I fear her but I am distracted by the other weres attacking us. Two approach me trying to surround me.

I get reminded of the gun in the waist of my jeans and pull it out. In just a matter of a few seconds, I pull the trigger aiming for the forehead and the gun obeys my command as the bullet whooshes into the air and sinks into the weres forehead.

The other were growls at me and tries to attack me from behind, his claws out but I am too quick for him, as I duck and spin around before faking a left hook at him. He takes the bait and leans right only to be met by powerful right hook.

He staggers for a moment, and that is enough for me as I duck and pick up the gun from off the ground and aim it at his stomach. However, it doesn't slow him down as he starts shaking. He is going to turn into a wolf.

I throw a glance at Giasemi. She is dealing with a fair few men, watching my left flank. Maybe it is time to embrace my Fae side.

The wolf is half way through his transformation; his nose is turning into a snout. I take a deep breath before focusing on his aura. I choose the place where he is shot at and focus on his aura draining out of his body.

His aura responds to my command and starts draining out of his body and pouring into me. Soon, I am done with absorbing his aura and am both surprised and disgusted.

Earlier when I absorbed Aura from my surroundings in the training it always felt normal like drinking water. But this guys Aura is bitter. It is like eating something which is rotten. Bitter and sour and nauseating. This man was never good. Hence, his aura reflects his character.

With no aura left in his body, his soul follows suit as he drops dead to the ground. I turn to my left and see Giasemi being overpowered. Quickly, I aim shots at the werewolves aiming for their foreheads. That is the only way to kill a werewolf quickly.

Soon the fighting in the room dies down, leaving behind a strange sense of calmness that makes me thirsty for more aura.

Giasemi hurries towards me and places her thumb on my forehead and I feel the excess energy leaving my body.

"You are not trained enough to make such moves. Even Though I am impressed by your progress, consuming so much aura from other supernatural beings triggers your basest fae desires which are very dark. You haven't mastered them yet. Be mindful."

I nod at her in understanding. For a moment I thirsted for life of others. LIke a vampire, but instead of someone's blood I thirsted for their auras. The thought makes me shudder for a moment and I am revolted at myself.

But then my mind focuses on Aiden, who is still hanging onto the chains. I rush towards him and try pulling the chains off of him but they burn my hands. They are made of silver.

Giasemi searches the pockets of the dead weres lying on the ground and she finds the keys soon. She rushes to us and inserts the keys and unlocks Aiden's chains.

His weak body bends dropping to the ground but I catch him in my arms not letting him fall off. Giasemi stands behind me and presses her thumb to Aiden's forehead and instantly he takes a deep breath, almost as if he is breathing for the first time.

"I poured some of the Aura from the dead weres. Enough so that he will wake up in a few moments. I will unlock the others."

"Thank you." I whisper to her, my eyes filling with tears at seeing Aiden's state. I feel him moving, and only then do I focus on the sparks running all over my body wherever his skin is touching mine.

Somehow the sparks feel more intense. Maybe because I have accepted our bond. I hear the sounds of chains pulling and unlocking. I think the silver doesn't hurt the fae.

I hear the words "Bella" coming out of AIden's mouth, which makes my spine shiver in delight. He is awake.

He knows I am here. I am overcome by happiness but at the same time anxiety clouds my mind.

I want to take him away from here as soon as possible but at the same time I feel a pull towards the other men that are fighting in the other room.

'It's Ok. You go and join them in the fight.'

It is Aiden. Suddenly he is able to mindlink me somehow.Startled I push him away from him. His eyes are now wide awake and it looks like he has gained some considerable strength.

My brows furrow in confusion.

"How?" I stutter in our link.

He croaks out the words in his physical voice now. "I don't know. I am itching to fight those bastards but I don't have enough strength. Take down a few for me. Will you?"

I nod at him and he hugs me for a moment before his feet give out and he stumbles, leaning back on the wall for support.

"No. Adrian is right. You need to get out of here. I will drop you and come back."

I hear a sigh coming from Giasemi and throw a glance at her. She looks at me in annoyance before rolling her eyes at me.

"I will stay here and keep an eye out till the fight dies out. I will link you if I need any help," she says as she helps Henry into a sitting position.

I mouth the words thank you to her before turning towards Aiden and helping him sit on the floor, his back to the wall and his feet stretched out in front of him.

Squeezing his hand for a moment, I leave him before teleporting myself into the fight.

It is chaos, blood is splattered everywhere and many were fully shifted tearing into the vampires. Furniture in the room is upturned and scattered throughout the great hall and splinters of wood and shards of glass are spread all over the floor.

It looks like us and the vampires are on an equal footing. My beast doesn't like the scene and neither do I. Let's see if I can manipulate the outcome.

I focus on the excess Aura still pouring in my veins left over after what had been absorbed by Giasemi. My beast caresses my mind and for once we are in sync.

I stretch my arm out and focus on the Aura and try to make it fill into an invisible mould that resembles a katana. The Aura bends to my will and soon I have my very own weapon, a sword made of Aura that will fatally wound anyone with only a swipe.

I feel a smirk tugging on my lips as my gaze shifts into that of detecting auras. It is easier this way. All my allies have a white-ish tint to them and my enemies have a black tint to them.

I focus on a vampire who is nearest to me. He has his claws out and around a weres neck, as he bends to sink his fangs into that Were.

I run at him and slash his head off with my katana. His physical head remains intact but I sense his aura pouring out of his neck, akin to blood pouring out of a beheaded person's neck.

The were who was beneath him now gasps for breath and looks at me in astonishment before nodding at me and helping a fellow were.

My vision refocuses on the aura pouring out of him. Why let it waste? If Giasemi can lend it to Aiden, Why can't I?

I focus on the aura and bend it to my will. I feel it pouring into my body however, I redirect it into my bond with Aiden. As soon as I am done with it, I feel Aiden getting stronger. This is working.

Quickly, I get back into the fight and drain the aura out of a few more vampires and pour their Auras into our bond. As soon as I am done pouring the Aura off the fourth vampire, a loud growl echoes through the house that shakes the entire floor. It is almost like an earthquake has hit us and the fight stills for a moment as Were and vampires grip onto the walls to stay upright.

Waves of power reach me followed by the familiar scent of my mate as he dashes into the room letting out a loud roar. By now the fight has resumed but seeing Aiden return, the Weres fight with a renewed zeal killing off vampires.

However, I feel the hair on the back of my neck rise as I sense somebody looking at me. Realisation dawns upon me. Aaron. Where is he? Quickly I gaze around the room trying to find him but he is not to be seen. I switch into my Fae vision and try to find him.

Through the window to my right, I feel the presence of an Aura and I shift into my beast jumping off wolves and vampires, via the window and into the forest that starts beyond the backyard of this house.

Switching my vision into that of my wolf, I follow the scent out. It is familiar. It is Aaron's. The bloody snitch won't escape me. I run in his direction.

After a few miles another scent joins his which is familiar too. However, I am not able to place it. I paw at the ground and scratch at the tree beside me and start hunting the scent.

Soon, I hear a car starting that is almost a mile away and I piece it together. Damn, he has escaped again. He had help. They knew that we would arrive. That is how he escaped on time or else he would still be inside fighting.

Aaron is not the only snitch in the palace. They are still getting the inside details. I clench my fists and only then do I realise that I am shaking with anger.

A roar pours out of my lips on it's own accord as I punch a nearby tree. Crunching sound reaches my ears before the tree splinters and I hear an echo of a roar that shakes the leaves on the now fell part of the tree.

Aiden. He must have felt my roar. Without suppression shots for so long, all of my strength and powers have returned and with me accepting my bond with Aiden they run through my veins with amplified powers.

Taking a deep breath I try to rein in my anger and start walking deep into the jungle. My beast is free after a long time and she longs for fresh meat that will clench her thirst for blood. She doesn't want filthy vampire blood that stinks too much of Iron.

I focus on my hearing and try to sniff the air to pick up any scents in the Air. A scent reaches my nose, one so delicious that has the fur on my body raise in attention. My belly clenches in anticipation as I hear the soft thudding of paws against the leaves and his power reaches me.

My skin starts to ripple as fur recedes into my skin, leaving pink in it's wake. Goosebumps cover my exposed arms and legs, save for what is under the enchanted camisole and shorts that reach my knee.

I turn on my heel to find his wolf just a few feet away from me. He stands taller than me in his wolf form as he stares deep into my eyes. He starts shifting back into his human form. His body is crouched as he shifts, head bowed down and once he is back in his human body, he raises his head and stares me straight in the eye.

"You accepted our bond." He says, His tone barely an echo in the forest, as he starts stalking towards me.

"Yes," I whisper, my voice barely a whisper against the sound of crickets in the forest.

I feel like a prey being hunted by him as I step back while he stalks forward.

"I remember you" He says, taking another step forward.

There is something warm in his gaze. He has seen me with many emotions but today it's quite different.

Earlier, there used to be longing along with a bit of hurt and accusal. Of not being accepted but tonight, now in this moment his eyes convey something that I am unable to decipher.

"Remember me?" I ask, confused.

"Yes. You. Our childhood. Only in glimpses but I remember you, now." He says, now cupping my cheek and caressing it before continuing, "You are beautiful now, but you were quite cute back then"

He now pinches my cheek which overwhelms me. The intensified sparks from my acceptance combined with the raw aura coursing through my veins causes butterflies in my belly.

I want to both stay here forever as well as run away from these emotions. As he looks at me in the eyes he pours his memories of us.

Us playing together in the same room as Nana reads us a fairy tale. None other than Beauty and the beast. My favourite.

Us playing on the swings. Nana pushing us turn by turn.

I didn't know that we were so close.

"Why don't I remember all of this?"

He just chuckles and shrugs. "You were too young, Bella. My mate. My better half."

He then engulfs me in a bear hug and lifts me before spinning me around in the air. Suddenly, I feel like a kid and his mood is infectious as laughter escapes my lips.

The sounds of us laughing resonate in the otherwise silent dark forest. Now, it feels like everything is going to be ok.

My mind however, reminds me of Aaron and his betrayal. I just hope we sort this matter out soon.
