41. The Maid

I sigh and rub my temples, trying to remember anything useful. Wait, the lady who opened the door. But Grandma said a car accident killed her. Maybe her relatives know something.

"Aiden, there was a lady other than the witch who opened the door for us. Grandma told me she died in a car accident a few days after that incident. The police informed that she was probably involved in their murder but before they could investigate further, she fled and was found dead. Perhaps, her relatives might know something."

Aiden's demeanor darkens as he snarls the words, "I will find out what her hand was in your parents' deaths, even if it means going to the depths of hell."

He then stays still for a moment, probably mind-linking. He focuses his eyes on me again as he says, "We've assigned our best kappa and our best Zeta. They are on their way to check the police records. I hope they can find some records."

I nod at him before getting up and dusting myself off. He, too, stands up and I pretend to be gazing around the room, unwilling to look at him.

I sense him trying to say something, but I am saved by the shouts. A female voice echoes in the corridor.

"I don't believe this. This is who fate has chosen for me as my mate. Wonderful!" Giasemi shouts as she enters the room with Adrian on her heels.

"Oh, common Jasmine. Don't be like that!" Adrian pleads to her, but she doesn't give him a chance to explain.

Turning around to glare at him, she pokes him in the chest with her forefinger as she says, stressing each syllable, "It is Gi-a-se-mi not Jasmine."

Adrian looks at her finger on his chest and back at her and shrugs his shoulders. "Don't they mean the same?"

Giasmi raises her arms in the air, her fists clinching as she tries to breathe. Then she turns to look at me and says, "Alpha Queen. Can I stay with you?"

I raise a brow at her and peek over her shoulders at Adrian, who now grins at her. Rolling my eyes at his antics, I nod at her.

"Please, Aurelia is fine. None of the Alpha Queen business. Anyway, I am not the Alpha Queen." I say, glancing at Aiden from the corner of my eyes.

Aiden glares at me and adds, "Yet. She's not the Alpha Queen yet, but it is only a matter of time."

Now Adrian looks at him in surprise, his gaze alternating between Aiden and me. His brows scrunch as he asks, "Did I miss something?"

This time Aiden rolls his eyes at Adrian and states, "A lot. Common, let me bring you up to date."

He swings an arm around Adrian's shoulders, who remains perplexed as he leads him out of the room. Giasemi releases an audible breath of relief as Adrian goes out of the room, her shoulders dropping.

"Mate troubles?"

Giasemi rolls her eyes at me and affirms, "Don't even ask."

I shrug and grin at her slightly. "Welcome to the club."

She chuckles at my words and assesses me from top to bottom. Feeling conscious, I ask, "What?"

"You are quite powerful. Even without formal training, you were able to bring Adrian out of a coma. That is commendable."

I scratched the back of my neck in a nervous gesture. "Thanks, I guess."

"But the art of healing is not something to be taken lightly. You almost drained yourself to death. That is foolish."

I didn't know that it was so serious, and I was so close to death. Noting her words, I mentally commit to be more careful.

My eyes widen at her words. "Oh"

She purses her lips at me and tells me to take a seat. We have a few things to discuss.

..................................

That is how the remaining part of the day goes. Giasemi gives me a long list of tasks. The easiest one is reading a few books and the toughest one is harnessing the life force from nature. Add on to that practicing teleporting as well as learning to fight. A special kind that only fae fight.

She claims that every fae has a bond with a natural element in which the fae is at its most powerful. Apparently, I can harness power from that element. It will not only boost my strength but also help me heal others.

Giasemi also prepared a schedule that has me waking up at four in the morning and then proceeding with physical training. It is almost evening now and we are still at the royal hospital.

"Giasemi?"

She turns to look at me and says, "Yes."

"How did you know where to bring us?" Her brows raise in understanding as she gives me a smile of understanding.

"I looked into the Were King's Aura." She states brightly.

My eyes widen at her words as I stutter out, "But how?"

"Hmm," she says, scratching her chin."How do I explain?"

She lets out a sigh, but suddenly her eyes brighten. "Did you read or watch the human novel Twilight? One of the vampires has the ability to read thoughts. It is something like that, but not exactly. The more you know the person, the more clear their aura is. Aura is something like a soul that fills one's body/"

"Yes, I have read the book, but by knowing the person, do you mean distance?" I inquired, confused.

"NOO! Ok. It is like this. Maybe you can understand this better in a more human way. Ok. Do you have friends?"

I shrug, and she frowns at me.

"I have a few acquaintances." I offer, cringing at myself.

She nods at me but then continues, "So, did you know everything about your acquaintances the first time you met them?"

"No." She smiles at me.

"You have to ask and get to know them, right?" I nod at her, not understanding where she is leading with this.

"Every person has power or an aura. The more you meet the person, the more you are tuned in with their aura, and the more you are tuned in with their aura, the more you know what goes on in their mind."

But then, does she know Aiden well?

"Then have you known Aiden for long because you could tap into his aura?"

She shakes her head and says, "No. But the Fae Royals do. When they summoned me, they forwarded me their knowledge of your aura through my bond with them. And since I was touching you both, it was easier to look into the Alpha King's thoughts. If we are touching a person, it is easier to harness their aura. That is what you did with Adrian."

She cringes when she takes her mate's name, but then continues, "However, you can also drain them of their strength in battles for which you need some training."

So this is what she meant by physical training. I slightly shake my head in understanding. It is too overwhelming. Until yesterday, I was a werewolf with abnormal beast form, but now I am part fae.

However, I still wonder how this is possible. None of my biological ancestors are Fae. How can I possibly carry the gene for the fae? I get lost in my thoughts as my head drops to my hands and I tug on my hair with frustration.

I feel Giasemi patting my back and a sense of calm washes over me. I look up at her in surprise.

"Another power of Fae. Not only can you harness their power, but you can also manipulate their emotions. Once you have an in with the aura. You can pretty much do anything."

Just great. I look at her in disapproval, and she gives me a sheepish smile. However, the sound of a door opening catches our attention. Aiden and Adrian walk in with Theta Ferretey in tow.

Aiden and Adrian keep bickering back and forth, while Ferretey looks annoyed.

"You were better in a coma. At least I was free of your vain, senseless talks." Aiden growls out.

Adrian scoffs, but his eyes land on Giasemi, and his face brightens. I see Aiden rolling his eyes at Adrian, but his eyes are light and his demeanour suggests that he was enjoying his banter with Adrian.

Dr. Ferretey walks ahead, sidestepping them both while glaring at them from the corner of her eye.

"How are you feeling, Aurelia?" she asks, stepping up to me and checking my pulse and vitals. I do as she says while Giasemi steps back, giving her space.

She turns towards Aiden and angles her neck, keeping her eyes downcast. A sign of respect. Then she straightens and glares at Adrian, and Adrian's smile fades.

Aiden, on the other hand, appears pleased and looks smugly at Adrian. Huh. Shouldn't he be worried about his best friend?

Dr. Ferretey, who is now done with her checkups, announces, "You can take her back home, King. However, she will need good sleep for the night and a meal full of protein and carbs."

Aiden nods at her while I thank her. She nods at us and backs out of the room, leaving all of us in an awkward silence.

We keep glancing at each other, not knowing what to say. I clear my throat and ask, "Where is Giasemi going to stay?"

I have a feeling she is not going to be pleased if she has to bunk with Adrian, given their first encounter. Adrian opens his mouth to say something, but Aiden steps on his foot and he glares at Aiden.

Hm. Maybe Adrian wanted Giasemi to stay with him. Aiden now gazes at Giasemi and states, "You will stay at the palace, of course. Since you are going to train Aurelia, you will have quarters that are near ours."

Giasemi thanks Aiden, and soon we are on our way to the palace. Adrian keeps glaring at Aiden and I internally pray to the moon goddess for the rest of the day to go smoothly.
