-HER-
"You look beautiful in that dress," The king of Drakkons complimented me when he saw me just before dinner. I didn't miss how his eyes raked up and down my body while he took in every inch of me.
It made my wolf feel disgusted inside. She didn't want to do anything with him and neither did I but I still smiled at him sweetly because I wished to have my head attached to my neck for the upcoming days.
"Thank you," I told him sweetly, "Your wife gave me her best outfits,"
In response, something flashed in his eyes before he told me, "Once we get back to my palace, you'd be given your own wing with a separate room filled with beautiful dresses and jewellery," He boasted. I didn't know how much truth was there in his words but I didn't have to care about it because I wouldn't be going to his palace anytime soon.
"That sounds amazing," I smiled, "I cannot wait to see your palace and find out what it's like," I told him with fake enthusiasm.
"You'd love it, my dear. I can guarantee you this," He told me before he offered me his hand and took me where dinner was supposed to be held. The whole camp had been decorated as if some kind of festival was going on.
No matter how beautiful were the decorations, to me, all of it looked stupid because by all these lights and music, they were attracting more and more attention towards themselves but then I looked around at all those troops.
They were too many here but again, this was not very smart on their part.
"What is this all for?" I asked the King of Drakkons when he took me to the centre of the camp which was more decorated. It looked nothing like a milliary camp. As a general myself, I was more and more astonished at all the things they were doing here. This only took away their focus from their work.
"Why? For you," He told me while his arm tightened around me gently. His heated eyes burned on my face as he looked at me fervently. I wanted to throw up at that moment. I'd never felt so uncomfortable in my life before but I constantly reminded myself that I needed to play my part carefully because a lot of eyes were currently trained on me.
"For me?" I questioned in surprise as I looked around the place. It looked too lavish to be part of a military camp. Light music was being played from somewhere and the air was filled with the scent of delicious food.
"Yes," He smiled at me, flashing his sharp teeth to me, "Tonight I'm going to declare you as my second wife,"
My heart almost stopped beating for once. I gasped. I could have never thought that he'd be so fast with this. Without warning, I took a step away from him, holding his gaze.
"Your wife?" I frowned.
"What's wrong with being my wife?"
"So quickly? King of Drakkons, I expected better from you. I expected you to court me first and prove your love to me. This is what happens in my tribe if a man wants to take a woman as his wife," I told him sharply, looking upset and offended.
"Courting?" He furrowed his eyebrows as if he was hearing that word for the first time.
"Yes, it's a huge tradition in my tribe and I must tell you that I take them very seriously. If you really wish to have me as your wife then you should court me for at least a month," I told him, making him look more puzzled.
"Ruel," He turned to me, taking a few steps closer to me but I made sure to maintain the distance between us, "I'm the Drakkon king. I don't need to court anyone,"
"If you think so then you can let me go,"
"No," He growled. "I wouldn't let you go,"
"Then court me. Make me feel loved. I will be your wife only when you take me back to your palace. Until then, I'd remain a maiden," I told him sharply. He looked deeply conflicted as he looked at me. I could see him struggling within through his eyes.
"Fine," he finally caved in. "If I need to prove my love to you to make you mine then I'm willing to do that. In the end, you'll be mine,"
"That we shall see," I smiled at him slyly, pushing him further in puzzlement but I soon rewarded him with a sweet smile before I held his arm again and let him lead me to the special tent where dinner for the king was served.
"Where's your wife?" I asked him, looking around for that Drakkonian woman but she was nowhere to be seen.
"It's just the two of us tonight," He told me, pulling me inside a tent. I frowned.
"That's not fair. She should be here with us," I told him before looking around at the tent we were in. It was the most lavish thing I'd ever seen in my life. It was very well decorated and there was a table in the middle of the tent which was laden with so much food.
"It's not," He told me as he pulled a chair out for me. "I would individually spend time with each of you,"
"I would have liked it more if she was here," I told him.
"You can see her after dinner but now, it's just only me and you," He told me as his eyes burned on my face with such intensity. I shifted uncomfortably on my seat. The rest of the evening felt like it was being dragged out.
I was waiting for the dinner to end but it wasn't ending at all and this was driving me crazy. My cheeks were hurting for smiling so much at that Drakkon king for absolutely no reason and the Drakkon King— he seemed to be completely obsessed with me.
He asked me all sorts of questions at the dinner, which I dodged somehow. It was very tiring for me and not only that, he tried to kiss me thrice. Each time, I shoved him back slightly. I could see the impatience in his eyes growling slowly but I couldn't have cared less.
"Ruel," He grumbled as he ran his knuckles over my cheekbone, "I love you so much. Please be mine,"
"I told you how and when I would be yours," I told him curtly, making him groan. If he thought that I was easy then he was in for a ride.
"I really want you, Ruel," he told me.
"Sweet talk doesn't suit a King like you," I told him while I finished my dinner. I wanted to leave sooner. "I'm done for tonight. Please escort me back to my tent" I declared.
"Why don't you spend some more time with me tonight?" He offered but I sharply declined his offer and told him to take me back and he did.
"I will keep trying," He told me before kissing my cheek when we were near my tent.
"Best of luck," Was all I told him before I went back inside the tent and took in a deep sigh of relief. I didn't know that a dinner with a Drakkon king would be so exhausting but I was glad that it was over for today.
I could finally pretend to go to bed.
After changing my clothes, I extinguished all the candles before pulling out some parchment and ink. This was what I'd been waiting for the whole day.
With my night vision, I wrote two notes. One was a fake order from the king to retrieve the troops from the southwestern border of the camp and the other note contained all the details of the patrolling patterns of the troops.
I sealed both the notes with the help of the Drakkon King's seal that I stole this afternoon before going to bed. I anonymously posted both the notes the first thing the next morning before spending the rest of the day with the Drakkon Kong's wife, followed by the evening which I spent with the Drakkon King himself.
This continued on for a few days. I'd go around the camp, collecting as much information I could without raising any suspicion. I'd also write fake orders from the King to confuse the troops. Meanwhile, I'd keep sending messages containing the details of the camp back to Ezekiel.
So far I hadn't heard from him and had neither seen him. This was making my wolf miss him terribly but I was feeling quite fine to be away from him. Although from time to time, I did wonder what was he planning to do outside the camp. Since our communication was only one way, I had no idea what was going on with the Lycans and my wolves. The only thing I could do was just wish that they were doing alright.
As the days passed, the Drakkon King was getting more and more serious with the thought of pursuing me, which was a good and a bad thing too. It was good for me because this meant I could get away with anything easily but this was also a bad thing for me because he was always trying to kiss me.
On the other hand, the troops were more confused than ever and there was a rumour going on in the camp that someone had been writing fake commands but with the help of the Drakkon King I dismissed the rumour, saving myself temporarily. I became more careful from then on.
Though I was slowly longing to get out of there. I'd always look at the mountains and wonder what the heck was taking Ezekiel so long to take me out of here. Though I didn't have to wonder that for too long because the next night something surprising happened.
