Twenty One-Migraine
Rainbow's Pov
I was a mess. It's alright, you can say it. I was a mess.
I figured that if I couldn't undo the past, I might as well try to help the future. So the following Sunday I dropped by Opal's dorm to talk, but her roommate said she was out visiting Sugilite. As time went on, I partially gave up hope. My best bet was to try to talk to her during Thanksgiving.
I groaned. That was another thing to think about. Obviously, I would go to my mom's. I knew that my father was seeing someone and probably would spend the holidays with her. But as I've mentioned, spending a holiday alone with my mother wasn't something I exactly looked forward to.
A knock on the door shook me from my thoughts.
"Get the door," Morgan said. She was going out that night.
"Fine." I opened the door and Opal awkwardly waved.
"Hey, can I come in?" I glanced back at Morgan, who wasn't paying attention and pushed Opal further into the hall, closing the door behind us.
"Listen, Opal, I-"
"No, it's okay!" She cut me off. "It's fine. But that's not what I wanted to talk about now." She shifted awkwardly. "Do you wanna go get bagels with me?" I blinked. I could not believe Opal was a real, functioning person.
"Sure." I grabbed my keys, coat, and shoes, and we left.
"So what did you want to talk about?" I asked as we sat down with my bagel.
"Well, I wanted to invite you and your mom over for Thanksgiving," she said. "Usually we fly out to see my grandma in Colorado but she's coming here this year. So is my dad. Sugilite is bringing Amethyst and another one of her mom's daughters and the Headmistress's family is coming over. Please say you guys will come." I took a minute to process it, then smiled.
"That sounds great Opal, I can't wait." She smiled. Suddenly, I had an idea. "Can I invite Steven and Greg?" Opal blinked.
"I don't see why not. It would be good to get them out of that van for a few hours." I smiled.
"Good. I'm sure Greg could use the hot meal. And I know that my mom needs to see Steven."
"Does your mom get out much?" I shook my head.
"Not too often. Maybe having other mothers around will help calm her down. Maybe she can make some friends." Opal thought for a minute.
"And you're sure that having so many girls around Rose's age won't upset her?" I thought about it.
"I think she'll be fine." I hesitated. "Opal, does your mom do anything other than turkey?" Opal laughed.
"Rainbow, we'll have several other vegetarians to entertain you." I smiled.
"Ooh, I know a great recipe for vegan cookies we can use!" Opal laughed.
"You gosh darn vegans, always making it so I can't cook with butter!" I laughed.
"Then I guess you'll just have to deal with it!"
We didn't get to talk about the kiss. Not after Opal interrupted my apology, at least. I felt horrible.
"Opal?" I finally asked when we were almost back to the dorms.
"Yeah?"
"I'm still really sorry." Opal smiled.
"Hey, it's okay. Really, I didn't mind it." I was shocked. I looked over at her.
"Really?"
"Yeah. Now let's get inside. There are strictly no colds allowed during Thanksgiving."
(A/N) I'm just messing around with ideas. Highkey skipping to Monday next chapter.
Random Fact Of The Day: Opal is two inches taller than Rainbow, but Rainbow likes to wear heels so she appears taller than Opal.
Second Fact: I am still very Gay for both of them.
