Thirty-One-Lazuli Listens

Lapis's Pov

"So you're sure little miss Lazuli's gonna be a good sport?" Hess sneered. Red laced his arm around me.

"Of course she will." He looked down at me. "Right babe?" I nodded.

"Can't wait." As far as my mother was concerned, I was spending the night at Bella's house, not at Hess's house doing one of the only things she'd ever warned me against, smoking pot. Red laughed.

"Then let's go." As it turned out, Hess lived a little further than the "short walk" from our meeting place Red had promised. She lived, in fact, in the next town over.

"Damn, you could probably get to the beach from here in no time," I said as we turned onto her street. Hess scoffed.

"Yeah, I guess. Gotta get some heads up on whatever mansion you probably live in." I bit my tongue and kept talking about the beach.

"How often do you go? Probably a lot, right?"

"Not much lately, considering it's January." She spat.

"I'd still go," Red said. A couple of people snickered. "Come on, it's like fifty degrees out. It's practically summer. Let's go swimming tonight." Hess turned around with her hands on her hips and rolled her eyes.

"Come on Red, are you already high?" She smirked and put her hands on his shoulders. "Because tonight you'll be having so much fun, you'll forget about the ocean entirely."

"With Lapis," Red said firmly, brushing Hess off of him and grabbing me around my waist again. Hess shook herself off and turned back around quickly.

"Yeah right, you wish you could get with me. Besides, we're here." She walked up to a trailer and kicked the door a few times until it popped open. I almost asked if we were really going to her house or just breaking in, but decided against it.

"Damn Hess, your old man lock you out again?" One of the guys, Drav, asked. Hess shook her head.

"He's not going to be home. Just get in before I send you all back." Red led me in and took my coat off.

"Yo Hess, where should we put our jackets?" He asked. Hess unzipped her sweatshirt and tossed it on the couch, straightening the straps of her tank top.

"Wherever you want. I'll be right back." She grabbed a screwdriver from a drawer in the kitchen and used it to unlock a door, going into the room and coming out with our entertainment for the evening. "You guys are lucky I'm sharing with you guys after all the trouble I went through to get it."

"Just drop out and go to work fulltime if you're so worried about it," Drav said, laughing. Hess looked ready to slap him.

"I can't you douchebag. I've got a shitton of money coming from my mom's will if I finish school. It's already paying for the school so I might as well use it.

"God, sorry to touch the nerve," Drav said, snickering along with the others. Hess rolled her eyes and sat on the floor next to the mini fireplace. The other five of us sat down with her.

About two hours later everyone was half asleep or already sleeping. I leaned back against the loveseat and sighed with relief for the peace and quiet after the loud night we'd had. Red leaned back too and put his arm around me.

"Lapis," He muttered. "I love you." He kissed me on the cheek.

"I love you too baby." He kept kissing me until I swatted him away. "Red, you need to relax!" I giggled. "We're in a room full of people!"

"Then let's go!" He stood up and pulled me up to him, smiling.

"Where?" I asked, still giggling.

"To the beach!" He pulled on his jacket and tossed me mine. "Let's go!" I put it on and he grabbed my arm and led me outside and down the street, practically running when we turned onto the road that led to the beach.

"Red!" I laughed, running after him. "Slow down!" He turned around, still running.

"Why? Who's gonna stop me?" I had no real response. We were just two teenagers running towards the beach at nine o'clock at night in the middle of January, what would even lead someone to think we were high?

"Nobody!" I yelled, happy as I'd ever been.

"I'm the king of the world!" Red shouted, throwing his hands in the air.

When we finally reached the beach, Red picked me up and spun me around in his arms, kissing me the whole time. We spun until we both got dizzy and fell into the sand.

"I love you Lapis," Red said, hugging me tightly.

"I love you too, Red."

"You know what?" He said. "I think I'm going to marry you one day." I chuckled.

"Don't think about that yet. I'm only fifteen." Red chuckled.

"We can wait. I'll wait for you forever." We laid there quietly, listening to the sounds of the waves hitting the beach. And even though it's stupid to sleep outside next to the ocean in the middle of winter, that's what we did.

(A/N) How do you like it? Also, check out Exmore Virginia on Google Maps, because that's the town I've been using as my pseudo Beach City.
