Thirteen- Hell is a school bus

Peridot's Pov

"Refresh my memory, if you please. Why are we doing this? We should e going after Amethyst, not here with these Clods!" Pearl closed her book, I don't understand how anyone can read in a car without getting carsick.

"We can't do anything Peridot, we're only fifteen."

"But we can't just let them take her away! She's our friend!" Yellen leaned over her seat.

"Peridot, you heard mom. We couldn't do anything even if we had the means to. Her mother has custody." I sighed.

"But she doesn't even know her mother! And we need her more!" Pearl shook her head.

"There's just nothing we can do." I looked down at my feet.

"Aww, Peridot, don't get that upset!" Yellen said. "Here, I can do that thing that Amethyst does!" I looked up at her while she thought very meticulously.  "Heeey there.... Peristalsis?" She said, smiling awkwardly. I shook my head.

"Peristalsis is beyond Amethyst's vocabulary." She sighed and draped herself over the seat.

"Face forward and sit down!" The bus driver demanded. Yellen obeyed.

"That's right, we're still here." We'd been driving for several hours. "Amethyst is Moon Goddess knows where and we're going camping."

"Oh lighten up! I'm sure it'll be fun!" Pearl said.

"Perhaps you and I have different definitions of fun, but I'd rather not spend a week sharing a tent with five other teenage girls."

"Hey, look at it this way," Yellen called over her shoulder. "This way we'll fill the tent easier. It's easier to find two tentless people than just one." She offered. Which reminded me.

"Hey, why aren't you and Bella sharing a tent with your friends?" She was quiet for a moment.

"Well, we didn't evenly fit into the tent. There were seven of us, and Bella didn't want me to be left alone." Something about her explanation sounded off, but Bella had fallen asleep almost as soon as the bus started moving(which was something else I couldn't understand) so I couldn't press her for questions.

"Aha!" Pearl called out suddenly.

"What?" Yellen and I asked in unison.

"I just received a text message from Ruby asking if she and Sapphire could share our tent!"

"That's great!" Yellen said. I paused to think.

"That means they must have been looking for a while. Yellen, wouldn't that mean that Sapphire's spot with your group of friends is empty? Why on Earth would there be too many girls in our grade alone?" Yellen sighed, then looked over at Bella, who was still fast asleep.

"I got kicked out, okay? Blair doesn' know. She thinks it's because of a lack of space. Please don't say anything?"

"Yellen, what happened? Are you okay?" She sighed.

"It's fine, Peridot. Don't worry about me."

"Everyone be quiet, we're almost there!" The bus driver shouted.

"Finally."
