MESSAGE FROM THE ADMIN

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to introduce myself, and thank you all for making The Lunar Awards stand out from the other awards in Wattpad. 

Having organized these awards for four terms,  I thought this would be a fascinating opportunity to know more about you, both as a reader and a person. 

I'm a psychological-thriller movie enthusiast, an avid reader of novels and an amateur guitar player. And in case you're wondering, yes, that song linked above is one of my all-time favorites. It uses a Japanese stringed instrument called shamisen in place of the guitar used in the original Beetles song.

Who are you, and what do you enjoy doing?

I am also a silent stalker on the Wattpad forums and a weaver of urban fantasy tales, where reality and fantasy merge. You can find them on my profile. In the beginning, I was rather unsure about sharing my characters with the world. Believe it or not, I was more afraid of them being judged rather than someone judging me. 

Are you a writer? If so, what do you write about?

What's your muse?

When I first started this contest, I wanted to provide a medium that would attract interesting books and authors in competing with the best of the genre. Some of you have exceptional plots, while others have characters or world-building, or even scenes that can cause the reader to burst into tears.

The concept of 'one winner' per genre chosen by 'one judge' never appealed to me as most readers have different aspects they look forward to in a book.

That's how THE LUNAR AWARDS came into play.

The genre award shines the spotlight on the best-written book in any particular genre, while the specialty award was meant to figure out exceptional authors out there who have a chance to make it great with their book. We have multiple judges with looking into your works, as well as have categories like creativity and originality.

After all, great writing can be nurtured, but your imagination can't be mimeographed.

Recently, a lot of you have been messaging me asking to increase the maximum number of reads a book can have to be eligible. These awards were started for the undiscovered authors, but we can try increasing the limit.

No, I'd rather this focus on helping the undiscovered authors in Wattpad.

Unfortunately, as a product designer, my job is to research the user and create the optimal product to suit their needs. I'm channeling the same energy here. Hahaha!
