When they came, they placed Katy under a mask. "This will help you breathe," the woman said. Katy nodded. "Just take deep breaths. Everything will be okay. Relax," she instructed her. Katy was happy to oblige.

Two Hours Later

After the terrifying ambulance ride, Katy was admitted to the emergency room, where the whole Patterson family came to see her, even Anita.

Within a few hours of rest, Katy was back to normal and fully recovered from her breath-taking (ha ha) experience. Nevertheless, Mrs. Patterson insisted she stay home from school for the rest of the week. Katy thought this a golden opportunity to start the search for her mother.

Mrs. Patterson was staying home with Katy. She decided to sit with Mrs. Patterson and tell her everything she had been thinking about her biological mom and what could have happened to her. Mrs. Patterson was very understanding and agreed to help Katy check the local hospitals.

Katy was excited. Finally, after all these years, she was praying she might be reunited with her long-lost mother. Chandler would have a hefty bit of explaining to do, but Katy had the time and patience.

When they drove up to the first hospital, Katy thought she would burst with excitement. She went straight up to the visitors' desk and asked if a Chandler Strook Hawkins was a patient there. She also had a picture of her mom to show the receptionist.

"I am sorry, miss, but no." the young intern replied. Katy sighed in disappointment. She ran back out to the car.

Eventually, they found Chandler.
