**** I should clarify that, in the last book, when YeongMi was cut off, it wasn't permanent. Her parents were teaching her a lesson, but she isn't like disowned or anything, and she still has access to their money and everything.
Daewon students have 2 and a half days to settle into their dorms before classes start. This is the start of the first full day ****
Mrs. Park hadn't changed a bit. It had only been a few months, so it shouldn't have come as a surprise, but YeongMi couldn't help but notice it as she sat in the office.
Normally, she would be impressed that all she had to do was walk into the school to get called to the main office. After all, it was only her second day, she hadn't even done anything wrong, yet, and she was already sat across from the Headmistress.
"How was your summer, Miss Yi?"
Is this really what she had called YeongMi down for? Small talk?
"It was too short, if I'm being honest. Perhaps we should extend vacations in the future. What do you think?"
Mrs. Park fixed her glasses, staring at the computer and ignoring YeongMi's words. YeongMi wondered why Mrs. Park had even asked, if she wasn't even going to listen.
YeongMi tapped her fingers against her thigh, glancing around the room impatiently. Why was she here if Mrs. Park had nothing to say to her?
"You're aware that your parents came to speak with me during the break, correct?"
Yes, they had come to visit the Headmistress, she knew. It was only after they were already gone that she found out, of course, but that was a technicality that YeongMi didn't find to be a desirable topic.
"Yes."
"And do you know what they told me?"
"Even if I did, I'm sure you'd only tell me again, so by all means, go ahead."
"They seem to be tired of your," Mrs. Park clasped her hands on top of the desk, eyeing her young student, "habit of getting in trouble. And they're not alone."
"Oh dear, that is big news."
Mrs. Park sighed, pulling her glasses off and rubbing her face. "It's too early for me to deal with this. Can we just come to an agreement?"
"What did my parents say would happen, if I caused trouble?"
YeongMi leaned forward, intently waiting for Mrs. Park to speak. She was dying to know what kind of threats her parents had uttered behind closed doors.
"I'd rather not say it. Just remember that if you get in trouble, you won't get off lightly. This year, I don't care how much your parents paid the school, I won't let you make a mockery of it."
YeongMi nodded, tapping her cheek thoughtfully. "Truth be told, I'm not looking to cause any problems. This year, I just want things to go smoothly. I've got exams, and I just want to enjoy myself, with no consequences."
It wasn't entirely a lie, after all. Sure, she had matured, but it's not like she could just grow out of her rebellious flair, not after all this time. She would still sneak out, and she would still go into the boys wing, and she'd still sneak the boys into her room. She would still do as she saw fit. She just wouldn't actively look to cause problems this time around.
Mrs. Park nodded and waved her hand, clearly dismissing the girl. YeongMi sighed, putting her hands in her jacket pockets, kicking her feet up lightly as she walked the hallways.
She was soon pushed, as two boys struggled to grab her shoulders before the other. She smiled at Jimin and Taehyung, quickly shifting so that she had her arm around both of them.
"Did you get to room together?" YeongMi recalled that the last she had seen of them, they had been racing each other to reach the admissions office, where the dorm arrangements were made.
Taehyung smirked, tapping his temple as he spoke. "I knew that it wouldn't work easily. So instead of asking to room with each other, we took our rooms, and proceeded to be terrible until our roommates gave up and filed for a new room. And boom, we made it together."
YeongMi stared at Jimin, who blushed and fiddled with his fingers. "Well, I just asked my roommate, actually."
Taehyung waved him off, "my version sounds cooler."
The conversation was soon forgotten, as Taehyung ran off, disappearing down the hall. It made sense, as soon as Jungkook came into view.
Taehyung rocketed into him, clinging onto him in a bear hug that caused the shorter boy to blush, his hands faltering before moving to grip him back. It seemed that they were whispering to each other, and when Taehyung pulled away, he had the biggest grin on his face, pulling Jungkook away.
YeongMi smirked, picking up on the undertones of something more. She was convinced that they were involved, even if she had never caught them in the act with her own eyes.
For now, she shrugged it off, leaving them be and walking with Jimin, listening as he recounted all his favourite moments of the summer.
Yes, maybe a peaceful school year wasn't such a bad idea.
