Chapter Two
Walking past his secretary he continued towards Marinette's suite. Her door was ajar and he could see her moving around - was she dancing? Suddenly her voice broke into words, she was singing.
He loved listening to her sing, she'd always do it when she was baking or in the shower. Her voice was like a siren pulling him in to meet his fate. He walked forward in a trance and lent against the door frame with his arms crossed. His eyes trailed her perfectly formed body for the first time in a month. She looked divine.
Tikki stuck her head out of Marinette's bag and gave Adrien a wave. Plagg zoomed out along side Hugo to go and join her. The impact of the two additional kwami's knocked Marinette's bag off balance and it crashed down to the floor.
She turned around to pick it up only to see Adrien leaning against the doorframe. She squealed before running over to him and launching herself. Lucky for his quick cat like reactions he'd managed to stop them falling to the ground. She was hugging round his neck tight with her head buried deep in his collar bone. He wrapped his arms around her waist and walked her back into her room. Something about his smell made her pine for him.
"Hey, Princess."
"Hi, my Prince." Both smiled like idiots at each other not knowing what to do next. He placed her feet back onto the floor and slid his hands onto her hips.
"You look beautiful."
"You're looking handsome yourself. I love this blue on you." He smiled to himself at his good choice in suit colour.
"How's your first day going?" Adrien asked. He didn't want to be the one to break the hold, and he was stubborn enough to stay here all day if he had too.
"Not too bad. I seem to remember what to do so that's a positive, and I get to see you." She pushed him away by the nose and turned back to the dress at hand. He watched her work for a bit and smiled as she scrunched up her nose thinking what to do next. "You must have better things to do Monsieur Agreste, than to sit and watch me pin."
"I have things to do," Adrien said, "they're just not better." He smiled a wide Chat smile at her and she started to laugh. "I'm going, I promise." He said as he stood up
from her desk chair. "Perhaps I can catch you before you leave this evening?"
"I'll wait for you by the elevators." She walked over to him, stretched on her toes and placed a kiss on his cheek. "I'm really happy to see you, Adrien."
"Me too." He takes her hand and kisses the back of it. "I'll catch you later." He walked out the room and into his, as Marinette sat down, she smiled. Quickly reaching for her bag, she grabbed her phone and sent a text to her bff.
Mari: He's so gorgeous and perfect, Alya! What should I do? Do you think he would still want to be with me?
Alya: Woah! Slow down a bit girl. We all know model boy is pretty but I think you need to get to know him again. You need to make sure you feel comfortable.
Mari: I'm sure he could make me feel comfortable ... and a lot more things 😜 but I know your right. I'm meeting up with him later, perhaps he'll ask me out on a date 🤞🏻
Alya: Just don't get your hopes up too much. He's a sweetheart and won't want to push you into anything too soon, he may be a little slow, but Mari please know he'd never want to be with anyone else.
A sweetheart he is, Marinette thought. She didn't know how she got so lucky the first time but she was determined to be just as lucky a second time.

Adrien packed everything up in his office ready to leave after a tiring day. Plagg was currently asleep in Adrien's jacket whilst Hugo was snoring in his hair. As strange as they were he had so much affection for his kwami's, they were his family. Lifting Hugo gently off his head he placed the little kwami into his briefcase.
"Sweet dreams, little man. I hope you enjoyed seeing your Maman today." Smiling Adrien zipped up his bag and made his way out his office.
He'd only managed to catch little glances at Marinette throughout the day, both were worked off their feet, which was a normal occurrence in the 'Agreste' offices. She came into his office at lunch time with a croissant for him. They managed to have a brief catch up before Marinette was whisked out to meet her new personal assistant.
Adrien proceeded to spend the following twenty minutes after she left on the rooftops of Paris as his alter ego trying to find something to cataclysm.
At 5.30pm he made his way towards the lift. He heard two voices coming towards him. Both he distinctly knew.
"Thank you for today, Luka. I think it'll be fun working together."
"Me too, Mare. I've missed you over the past year." They came into eye-line with Adrien, and Luka ended his conversation abruptly. Whatever he wanted to say next obviously didn't include Adrien's ears.
"Luka, don't worry about walking me to my car. I'll go with Adrien." Marinette beamed at the blonde model standing next to her, she'd been desperate to see him again all day.
"Sorry Ms Dupain-Cheng, but part of my role is to make sure I personally see you to your car." Marinette looked back at her old friend and sighed.
"Sure."
Adrien stood awkwardly to the side. He didn't know what to say or do. Thankfully, the elevator announced its arrival and the unlikely trio made their way in together. Adrien, being the gentleman he is, let the other two in ahead, before pressing the button to descend them to the underground car park.
The elevator was silent. Awkwardly silent. Marinette shuffled a little to get closer to Adrien. For some reason Luka had been giving her extra work today as if to stop her from going to see him. She wasn't quite sure what was happening? Weren't they friends?
She could see Adrien's hand tucked into his pants pocket and decided to pull together some confidence. She felt like a naughty child for what she was about to do. She slowly lifted her left hand and slid it alongside Adrien's and into his pocket. Surprisingly his body didn't move; but his hand entwined his and Marinette's fingers together.
She looked at the ground and smiled to herself. This felt dangerous and she loved it. He began to stroke up and down over her thumb, each stroke causing a lightning strike in her body. How can something so simple feel so personal? As she grasped tighter she noticed something on his finger. Had he always worn such a thick ring?
The sound of the elevator pulled her from her thoughts and she retrieved her hand from out of Adrien's pocket.
"I promise she'll be fine from here Luka." Adrien spoke first, breaking the silence.
"Ok, Monsieur Agreste. I'll see you both tomorrow."
Luka had noticed Marinette's move in the elevator and as much as he would like to step in and be her knight in shining armour it was never going to happen.
All day her actions displayed nothing less than love for the guy and he was not willing to step in the way. With a deep breath he made his way back up to his office. It was hard to admit defeat.
"So have you remembered an umbrella today?" Adrien looked down at the forgetful girl walking next to him. He could see outside the entrance that the rain was falling heavily.
"Oh shoot!" She rummaged through her bag only to look up again with a frown placed firmly on her forehead.
Even though the 'Agreste' car park was underground, it was a good five minute walk from where she parked at the back of the bakery to the front of her parents apartment.
"Here." Adrien reached into his bag and pulled out a plain black umbrella. Her beautiful red lips curved up into a smile.
"Thank you, my Prince."
"You're welcome, Princess." As their hands connected a crack of thunder could be heard outside and a spark flew through their fingers. Their eyes mirrored each other's reaction before they smiled and continued to walk.
They stopped in between her Mini and his
Lamborghini.
"Did you ever let me drive it?" She pointed towards his car.
"A few times. You're quite terrifying with the power, it was kinda like the Fast and the Furious." Marinette giggled covering her mouth. He'd missed this so much.
"I don't know if you can remember but it's my 21st birthday at the Bourgeois Hotel in a couple of weeks and I hoped you'd still be coming. I'm not going to make you come as my date if that makes you feel uncomfortable, but I really would love you to be there."
"Of course. I wouldn't miss it for the world." They quickly hugged before making their way into their respective cars. Marinette smiled to herself. Perhaps she could get used to this. Perhaps she could get used to him.
