Adrien waited until the corridor was clear before dragging Marinette down the emergency stairwell. Neither spoke a word as they made it to the alleyway outside the building. Marinette wrapped her arms around herself to keep warm. The snow was falling thick and fast creating a deep white blanket over the ground. Adrien took his jacket off and placed it around Marinette's shoulders. After all, being a cat kept his body temperature quite stable.

"He's the guy from my first year fashion class. You know the one who kept staring at me?" Adrien nodded his head. He remembered him well, he'd caught him a few times going after different girls in the class. One of those times he'd attempted to lock himself and Marinette in the fabric room. Luckily Adrien was there to put a stop to it. He seemed to have a thing for Marinette, and just wouldn't take no for an answer.

"You're coming back to mine!" He demanded, grabbing his phone out his pocket.

"Do I not get a choice in this? I am quite capable of looking after myself."

"Hey Tom, you and Sabine need to move to the safe house ... she's here with me ... I'll keep her as safe as I can ... get Kim to text me what's happening." Adrien ended the call and placed his phone in his pocket. "Come on, let's get moving."

"Hang on! Firstly was that my papa you were on the phone too? And secondly what makes you think I'm coming with you?" He grabbed her upper arm and started to drag her out the alleyway. "Get off me! I can look after myself."

"I'm not saying you can't." Adrien responded, still dragging the stubborn woman out of the alleyway.

"Adrien, stop!"

"Mari, your life is on the line. It's my job to make sure you're protected whatever the cost, and as this isn't an akuma I think you should take my lead just for once." He scratched the back of his neck, knowing full well he'd just said way too much.

She stared into his green eyes and a recognition of something shot through her body. Had they been in this position before? She felt she could trust him, actually not so much trust as devote her life to him. Something flashed in her head, making her stumble back a couple of steps.

Mari, m'lady ... I will do anything for you. I'm just so happy you are both my girlfriend and my partner, and I hope one day we can be more.

She blinked out of it as he scooped her up, like a small child, and began to run. Clutching his neck with her arms and burying into his warmth she felt safe. For the first time in months she felt whole. He was her missing piece, her other half. She could feel it. Which meant only one thing ...

Suddenly Adrien dived to the floor. The sounds of gun shots were heard, followed by sirens. Adrien quickly looked over his shoulder seeing the predator getting closer to its pray. Adrien continued to roll them through the freezing snow until they were in an alley way.

"You and me against the world?" Adrien questioned Marinette.

She looked up at him and suddenly everything made sense again, it was coming back to her. Her Kwagatama around her neck let off a faint pink glow. It looked as though it was breathing, the colour fading in and out of the darkness.

"As always." She whispered without thought.

Adrien looked at her necklace and suddenly an idea came to the forefront of his mind.

"M'lady, you need to say the words?" Marinette gulped staring at Adrien knowing for sure now that he was none other than her kitty. "Please, Princess, we don't have a lot of time." A gunshot was heard again followed by shouting, screaming and the screech of car tires.

"Marinette-" he shouted towards her. She looked straight into his desperate eyes, and like the thousands of times before she knew exactly what he wanted her to say.

"Miraculous Ladybug." A swirl of little pink ladybugs escaped from the Kwagatama and made their way around Marinette. He took this as the chance to get out of there.

Adrien quickly called Plagg for his transformation before grabbing Marinette, extending his staff and racing along the rooftops. He finally landed them safely in the alleyway beside the building holding his penthouse. De-transforming he was met by her curious glare.

"I'll explain everything, but we need to get to safety first." He grabbed her hand and they walked into the lobby. The snow had built up fast, it wouldn't be long until they were officially snowed in. Marinette entwined her fingers through Adrien's, clinging onto his coat to keep her from the piercing cold. Both heroes were soaking wet from their tumble in the snow.

They entered the building; greetings sent to both of them and before they knew it they were in Adrien's penthouse, silently staring at each other. Tikki and Plagg were sitting on the dining table situated between their wielders, with Hugo remaining hidden in Adrien's jacket pocket.

"Mari, I couldn't tell you. You had to work it out yourself but I couldn't ... tonight was just ... I got scared." Marinette walked slowly round to Adrien never taking her eyes from his. He was scared and nervous, she could tell from his stammering. He, on the other hand, could not read her expression at all.

She pulled her arm back and slapped him hard across the face. The sound echoed through the empty apartment. They both stood shocked, no one talking, until she placed her hands on his cheeks and pulled him to her for a kiss oozing with unspoken passion and love. Tikki and Plagg were confused, though not as much as Adrien. Slowly he pulled away from her enchanted lips.

"What was the slap for?" He asked, looking into her beautiful bluebell eyes. His voice had gone hoarse, and a stinging sensation was travelling through his cheek bone.

"You jumped in front of me again, and this time against a gun! We don't know what would happen to us if we got shot, Chaton. You weren't even in your suit! You know I can't live without you." She pulled his face to hers again and kissed him a little more softly.

He laughed, feeling like the weight of the world had been lifted off his shoulders, though his cheek could probably do with some ice. He bent down and kissed her again.

"What do you remember?" He asked her as he took of his wet jumper, and sliding off her wet jacket.

"Most of it, I think. Oh Adrien, I had these intense new powers from Kagami's ring. And it took down Felix, but then Nathalie came and everything went dark. I can't remember anything after that until I woke up in hospital. I am so sorry for forgetting about us."

Adrien gulped and looked down into the eyes of his dreams. So big, so blue, so his. "I'll explain everything in due course. I think this memory is a good start without overloading you with what happened whilst you were in a coma."

"Where are Nathalie and Felix?" She asked.

"Felix has been kidnapped by Lila and Nathalie who I now believe hold the fox and butterfly Miraculous. Kagami, surprisingly has actually been a big help." Marinette nodded at Adrien's explanation. She placed her hands on her head.

"This all seems so weird. I'm so confused but not at the same time." He placed his hand on her shoulder in support and she wrapped her arms round his waist. Just like olden times. It didn't take long for him to fall into the embrace, wrapping his hands around her shoulders and burying his face into the crown of her head.

"Kagami's pregnant and the father is the same as Lila's baby." Adrien said into her hair.

"And I have a deep feeling that it's not yours. I frigging hate Lila, she's a lying bitch and now she's got Alya wrapped round her little finger." Marinette was angry ... very, very angry.

"Calm down love-bug." He unwrapped himself from her and began to walk down the hallway leading her to his bedroom. He found the Manila envelope on his dresser and handed it over to Marinette. She opened it up and pulled out the pieces of paper.

"They have DNA matches." She said quietly.

"Yep." He replied, "which means Lila's baby will have some of my DNA. Hopefully though nothing more will get out to the press before our media department sort it out. I'm sending them a copy of the reports first thing tomorrow." Marinette nodded and hugged Adrien again.

"I'm sorry for going along with Alya, and staying away from you. Everyone was trying to get me to talk to you but for some reason she managed to make me believe her. She's just so trusting of Lila, though I have no idea how or where their friendship came from."

"Mari, you don't need to say anything. What happened to you can't have been easy. God you lost almost two years of memories and I was a butthead to you when we first met, I wouldn't trust me either." She giggled at him.

"But you're my Kitty. You're my best friend and my soul mate. I should have known my Kitty was perfect, I should have known my Kitty was you." She placed her arms around his neck and kissed him deeply. Adrien believed this was one of the most romantic kisses he'd ever had in his life. Being soaking wet and cold aside.

They were broken apart by Adrien's cell phone vibrating between them.

"If you were that desperate you could have just asked." She winked at him pulling away. "I'm going to go in the shower. I'll see you shortly." She raised her eyebrows at him making his lips purse in an 'ooo' movement. He knew exactly what she meant and he was going to make this call as short as possible.

Adrien grabbed his phone and placed it to his ear.

"Hey Kim."

Hey man, we've got a trace on the guy shooting up the Agreste building and a name. He went to our university dude, can you believe it.

"Actually, we saw him. He was in Marinette's design class the first year. He got kicked out for stalker behaviour."

Makes sense. Listen, stay in your penthouse for the next couple of days. We have the full team out to find him so it shouldn't take too long.

"Thanks Kim, are Tom and Sabine ok?"

Yeah they're fine, just grateful for their future son in law being around again. Honestly I swear you're some sort of superhero.

"I wish." Adrien said as he's scratched the back of his neck.

"I've got DNA results to say it's Felix's baby, not mine."

Adrien looked over to the shower and smiled, in about five minutes they will be.

"Oh yes." Adrien replied to Kim. He could hear Kim smile and laugh through the phone.
