44 |The Things That Woo Her|

Sanyukta quickly rushed down the halls of the hospital to put her bag in her cabin before she met with her senior doctor.

She cursed Soham in her mind for letting her arrive to work late and for staying in traffic for 30 minutes, listening to his list of sad songs he had in her playlist that he changed.

'Now that gives me another reason to curse him. He changed my playlist!' she thought angrily, pushing the door of her cabin open.

The first thing that caught her eyes were the beautiful floors he sent her before her leave that were sitting peacefully in the vase on her desk, smiling at her.

She smiled back it and the idea of beating him up with the rolling pin left her mind, but other ways of revenge lurked around.

"Ahem." The rough voice of her senior doctor, Dr. Malhotra boomed from the door making her eyes widen.

Slowly turning around, Sanyukta plastered an awkward smile on her face and thought about the long lecture he was going to give her about punctuality.

"So you decided to show up Dr. Verma, how nice." His tone was spitting sarcasm and all she could do was play with her fingers.

"Sir I-"

"No excuses Dr. Verma come to my cabin now. We were supposed to discuss something important but since you came late then it's better that I bless you with my long lecture about punctuality," he said with a wide smile playing on his face.

"Dr. Verma and Dr. Rathore we need you in the OT on the second floor," the person over the intercom announced making her jump in joy, of course not in front of her senior.

"Don't think I will forget about this." He walked away with his arms still folded across his chest allowing her to release a sigh of relief.

'I will beat you up with two rolling pins Soham just wait and watch.' she thought as she left her cabin.

"And to present this point Rahul will take the floor-did you check the security cameras properly? Last night they were giving some issues."

Soham was balancing his back to back meetings, his tons of emails reply to, files to complete and the break in situation at his office all at once.

His headache was getting worse, the pain pounding his head as if it was stabbing him with a knife.

"Did you create a list of all the things that are missing?" he asked getting up from his chair.

"Yes sir and yes Jatin went to the police station for questioning."

"Okay I hope you increased the security and-"

"Sir should I continue with the other point?"

"Hold on Dinesh." Soham went back to his chair and sat back around his desk, unmuting his mic. "No uh, Khushi you present the other point and then after that Arman will move on to 'Deadlines and Extension Dates'. I have allowed you all to share screen so there should be no problem in doing so."

Soham muted his mic again and minimized his Zoom call screen in order to go into his email to reply to his dozens of messages.

"As I was saying I hope you increased the security and have installed more CCTV cameras with persons watching it 24/7. I don't want whatever happened last night to happen again," saying that he hung up and placed his phone next to the photo frame of him and Sanyukta.

He traced his fingers over it and smiled, remembering the day the photo was taken and how scared she was of the horse they were taking the photo with.

He felt a little lonely without her even though it has only been a few hours since she left for work.

He wanted her to be around all time so that he could hear her voice, see her face and see her smile but he couldn't stop her from going to work because of that.

He wasn't so selfish to do that.

But he knew that she was also looking on his photo, smiling, missing him as well.

"Sir!"

"Huh? Who just spoke?"

"Arjun."

"Yes tell me what question do you have?"

Soham chuckled a bit at the way how he zoned out thinking about the love of his life, forgetting that he was in a meeting and was about to reply to a email among the tons he had, but what could he do?

She was his stress reliever, his happiness, his everything.

Sanyukta dragged herself slowly into her cabin, feeling hurt and upset about the patient just she lost.

But it pained her more because the patient she lost was a mother of three. Three children lost their mother and there was nothing she could do.

She tried to stay calm and not break down in situations like these, since in the past few months there have been quite a few cases where right in front of her, on the operating table patients being mothers have died.

She knows its not her nor the other doctors faults. They all tried their best but it just hurts.

Hurts to see that children and adults have to live without their mother just like her for most of her life.

She loved Himanshi a lot with all of her heart but Antara, though she only knew her for 4 years, she was extremely close to her heart.

'It wasn't your fault nor the other doctors fault. You tried your best and they did too so stop eating up yourself about it. I know it hurts to see your patient die but for every doctor it hurts them as much as it hurts you.

I know you feel awful when you lose a patient especially the mothers but I know that Antara mom wouldn't want you to cry all the time when it happens.

I know that she would want you to move on and stop crying whenever you encounter a situation that reminds you of her death. She would want you to be strong.'

His words played back in her mind and whatever he said was true.

Though she stopped crying, it still pained her and it still triggered the memory of her mother's death.

She just couldn't stop it.

Sanyukta took up the photo of her and Soham and hugged it, trying to relax and get her mind off her the surgery.

Soham ended his last meeting for the day, exhaling sharply as he was drained and uncomfortable for sitting down too long.

He rubbed the bridge of his nose and leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes for a bit.

'Sani is going to be very angry with you because you made her late for work', his mind told.

"I know. She will probably chase me with a rolling pin." He chuckled and sat up, taking up the photo frame as he smiled at their photo. "So that's why I will woo her."

Soham got up and took his laptop with him to the kitchen, thinking of what he could make for dinner.

Placing the laptop on the counter, he opened his email and started to write the rest of the replies that were pending while he tried to find the ingredients to make the meal.

He typed only a few words and went to the fridge, opened the freezer and took out the chicken to defrost it.

Soham placed the chicken in a large bowl and filled it with water and went back to his laptop to finish type his email.

He wanted to finish all of his pending work before she came home so that it would just be both of them and no work in between.

He wanted to spend of all of his time with Sanyukta when she got home. He wanted to continue cuddling with her, holding her in his arms tightly and plant millions of kisses on her cheeks.

After sending the first reply, he lit the stove and placed the pot on the burner, pouring the right amount water in it.

He took out his phone out of his pocket and dialed Aisha's number while he started to write his second reply.

"Yes bhaiya?"

"Can you go over to your friend's house and stay the night?"

"Why is everything fine?"

"Yeah but I want to spend some alone time with Sanyukta."

"Oh ho bhaiya romance and all? Okay I will, I don't mind at all. I can't wait to hear the good news later on."

"Aisha yaar." Soham blushed and looked down at his shoes in embarrassment.

"I'm hanging up now okay, love you."

"Love you too."

He hung up and slipped his phone into his pocket, his cheeks still red from blushing and walked over to the stone, taking up the knife he left.

"Why is it so dark in here? Soh?" Sanyukta spoke, walking inside the house exhausted from her long day at the hospital.

She turned on the lights and saw him sitting in the couch looking quite handsome and charming in his white shirt which was buttoned half way
up and black formal pants.

"Wow, I haven't seen you look so snazzy in a while babe, are we going somewhere?" she asked walking over to him.

"Nope." He stood up and walked over to her with a rose in his hand. "We going on a date but at home, in the dinning room."

"So you made dinner and everything?"

"Yup, specially you." He leaned in and peacked her lips before he led her to the dinning room.

A smiled crawled on her face seeing the amount of effort he put in to decorate the room with roses and candles and along with that make such an amazing dinner.

Soham snaked his hands around her waist and hugged her from behind, planting thousands of kisses on her right cheek.

"I'm sorry for making you late for work today jaan. I just enjoy cuddling with you so much that I don't want to let go. So how do you like tonight's dinner plans?" he asked, resting his head on her shoulder waiting for her to answer, while she scanned the entire dinning room once again.

"I really love it. It's so romantic and beautiful but let's leave that and talk about you. You're looking extremely dashing tonight Soh," she said turning to face him, her hands now on his chest.

"And I can't wait to see you wear the dress that I bought you." His tone completely changed to a husky one making her smile at his romantic side in which she loved.
