40 |The Relationships That Matter|

"I would love to see this side of you more sweetheart, it draws me closer to you to see that you are so possessive of me." Soham moved the loose strand of hair out of her face, behind of her ear and held her face gently with his left hand.

"I will kill anyone who tries to take you away from me because you are mine. The more I say this is the better you will understand. You are my Soh bear," Sanyukta told gripping his collar firmer into her fist.

"So now do you understand how I feel when you hang around that Dr. Karthik for too long?" He raised his eye brow and she looked away immediately, seeing that her words now turned against her.

"Come on wifey answer me."

"Fine, I agree that he might be a little too friendly with me and bit touchy but I promise you that he is not that bad, and I would be jealous too if I see you hanging around some other girl."

"Hold on, I am not jealous Sani."

He loosened his grip on her face and folded his arms across his chest, pouting cutely.

"Then what should I call it Soh? It is what it is baby. Just accept that you are jealous," Sanyukta said.

"I won't accept it and that is final. Now let me get back to work." Soham tried to get up but Sanyukta pushed him back.

"Your laptop's life is still a risk here."

"Fine my dear wife, I am not jealous. Happy? And I guess maybe I was overreacting a bit about the whole Dr. Karthik thing." He told sarcastically.

"He isn't that bad and I promise you he isn't trying to take me away from you. " She smiled and hugged him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Actually, um, don't kill me for this but I was watching our favorite Netflix series without you."

"Sanyukta yaar! Just wait, I will show you."

He moved over on the couch with such a force that she fell on the other side laughing, with him now hovering over her.

He pinned her hands over her head to the top of the couch with his right hand and started to tickle her with his left.

"O-Okay Soham I get it! Stop tickling me! Soham!" She shouted in between her laughter, kicking her legs in all directions.

"You know I wanted to watch that with you after I was finished with all of this work but you watched it without me."

"Sorry, I was angry at you since we weren't talking. Arey Soham stop na please!"

"You will have to do something for me in return," he said sternly.

"Kya? (What?)"

"For two days, everytime when you see me you must kiss me."

"What if we are in front of people?"

"You still have to."

"Soh yaar."

"Deal or no deal?" Soham was adamant on his offer and wasn't ready to back down.

"Fine. Now please stop tickling me, my head hurts from all of this laughing."

Soham released her and moved over to the bed to grab his laptop, while she got up quickly catching her breath and fell on the bed.

"Our deal starts tomorrow," he stated, taking up his laptop which was laying beside her and sat back down to continue with his work.

"I am going to sleep since you are going back to your work." Huffing, Sanyukta rolled over to the right side of the bed, rested her head on the pillow and turned off the lights, leaving the only light source, his laptop.

"I love you babe."

"I am not talking to you."

"Yes Mr. Kulkarni I have the files ready. No actually I changed the meeting time to 4 pm today because I have a board meeting at 2:30 and a bunch of emails to send and reply to."

Sanyukta sat bored around the dinning table, listening to Soham talk business for the past 15 minutes.

She even ate her sixth roti and he didn't even notice as he was so busy in his conversation and wasn't even making eye contact with her.

She has heard her father spoke business over the phone plenty of times but it wasn't as boring as how Soham was talking at the moment.

It was actually interesting and entertaining to hear her father yell at people over the phone about who stole investors from who, who has an affair with who and all the juicy stuff that goes on at business parties.

Sanyukta sighed for the millionth time and wished she didn't take that extra leave from her boss, while stuffing her face with food in boredom.

"Okay I will update you later, bye."

"So sweetheart what-" before he could finish, his phone rang again, wiping the smile off her face.

'I will destroy his phone as well,' she thought, stabbing the roti with her fork.

"What happened Aisha?"

"I want to talk to you, bhaiya."

For the first time in his life she ever called him bhaiya and that too wholeheartedly.

A smile crawled on his face to hear that she was slowly accepting him as her brother without hating his guts.

"W-What did you just call me?" he asked getting up from the table, walking away to speak to her in private.

"Bhaiya, but if you don't want me to call you that I-"

"No I want you to call me bhaiya. I like it," he said quickly cutting her off.

"Actually, I miss you. I miss you so much Soham bhaiya. I am so freaking lonely here by myself I can't even tell you." She broke down in tears, sliding down the bathroom door covering her mouth to suppress her sobs.

"Isn't Arya there? And what about Tarun?"

"Arya is busy all the time and Tarun left for Canada four months ago. I just want you bhaiya. Ever since you told me whatever was in your heart, that's the only thing I have been thinking about and I have realized that I was a terrible person, let alone sister.

Most of the times because of me dad would abuse you and I wouldn't even care, but now I am sorry. Sorry for everything that I have done and said.

Soham bhaiya please forgive me. Please." Her voice cracked as her tears continued to flow down her checks making him break.

He too slid down the door but the door of his study and cried along with her.

"Aisha my baby sister, I knew that you were sorry once you called me. You never did before and when you did not too long ago I knew that you wanted to apologize, and I forgive you."

"I-I want to ask you something," she said, wiping her tears.

"Yes you can ask me anything."

"Can you and Sanyukta bhabhi come and stay here. I really miss you and I know you won't come here without taking bhabhi."

"Why don't you come and live here, with me and Sanyukta? That house has too many bad memories and I want to forget all of them."

"Okay I am going to pack my bags now."

"Wait Aisha."

"Yeah?"

"I love you."

"I love you too bhaiya."

Saying that she hung up and Soham rested his head against the door and smiled, chuckling a bit in happiness wiping his tears.

His baby sister was finally drawing closer to him to the point where she wants him to stay with her.

He has always dreamt about this day and honestly he thought it would never come but it did. It finally did.

She accepted her mistake and asked for forgiveness and this made him extremely happy.

He loved her even though she hated his guts and was one of the main reasons why their dad abused him.

But hearing 'I love you' come from her mouth really made him cry, cry in happiness and joy.

"Soh are you okay?" Sanyukta asked softly from outside his study.

"Yeah I am fine just give me a minute."

"Okay."

Sanyukta went back to the dinning room and found her father (Rajveer) sitting around the table.

"Papa?"

She ran over to him and hugged him tightly, sitting in his lap like a child.

"I called you earlier to check up on you and you said your blood pressure was a little high. Are you okay?"

"I am fine princess. I came to see you."

"I miss you a lot." She widened her arms like a child, showing him how much she missed him.

"And I miss you too." Rajveer placed a kiss on her forehead while she hugged him tightly.

Himanshi and Gaurav walked into the room and smiled at her, their arms anxious to take her in their embrace.

"Mom, dad," she spoke softly seeing them stand before her.

"We don't care if you love Rajveer more than us, we just want to hear you say I love you."

"I can see the love and longing you guys have for me in your eyes and I can't be selfish for not giving you that. And even though we haven't spent much time together I can say proudly that I love you guys. I love all of you."

"Give them a big bear hug now princess."

Sanyukta got up and slowly walked towards them, looking them straight in the eye tearily.

They pulled her into a hug, tightly wrapping their arms around her, finally having their daughter in their embrace after so long.

"Now this is what you call a family reunion," Soham spoke, entering the room with his hands in his pockets.

They chuckled and enjoyed the moment to the fullest, cherishing the beautiful memories.

"Why don't we have a family night tonight when I get home? You know all of us spend time together and get to know each other better."

"That sounds amazing Soh-uh dad you are choking me."

"Sorry." Gaurav loosened his grip on Sanyukta and chuckled again.
