💖 CHAPTER FIVE💖
I had a terrific and overdramatic dream that was nearly a nightmare!
In the dream, I found myself back in the hallway where Zoey and I carried out her unsuccessful plan. The place was now dark, the sun was out of the count and all the fluorescent lights on the ceiling were turned off except for a broken one that was burning with wavering light.
I stood there in my sleeping pajamas disoriented and wondering why I was there and not lying on my bed. The whole place surged-over with an eerie aura that caused chill to creep inside me. I tightly hugged myself.
A subtle tiptoeing sound came from behind me and I swiveled around to see what it was. Trudging through the hallway was something colossal obscured behind the darkness and only its large silhouette was visible. It was more or less around ten feet tall and it towered over the rows of lockers.
And it was heading my way.
In a split second, it was an inches away from me. The broken light flickered and cast a feeble light over the gigantic thing for a very short period of time, enough for me to capture its horror-inducing features. It looked like an extremely large cockroach but with Mr Bree's face and was in a standing posture. The creature scorned at me with distain, eyes flaring with anger and forehead furrowed to uneven wavy lines.
I started to shiver with fright. Every bone, every marrow and every fiber in me was quivering. The one thing that scared me the most was I couldn't move my wimpy legs to make a run for it. I was literally plastered to the floor.
"You skunk will be in deep trouble right now!" It hissed and swooped to pounce on me.
Suddenly, a loud neigh slashed into the background and was accompanied by the clip-clop of horse hooves as they hit against the tiled-floor causing the creature to stop mid action. Curious, we both zeroed in on the horse.
It was a handsome white stallion galloping toward us trailed by a blazing light illuminating the place as it passed by. However, what took my entire attention and swept me off my feet was the adonis on top of the horse.
It was Archer Ward!!!
He looked spruced up in his neat, shiny armor that was sending off glitters of light and perfectly fitted against his well built body. His black hair was waving everywhich way as unimaginable wind blew against it, his face was as beautiful as the moon. His right hand was gripping a sharp looking sword that could take the life of the enemy with just one glance and the other was holding gracefully to the reins.
He was like a mirror of King Arthur.
And I was floored and_
in love!
He halted the horse as he reached to me, hoped down from the horse and stood in front of me. He suddenly took a hold of my hands in his, his eyes gazed at mine, completely love-struck and said in a voice heavy with emotion. So edgy, substantial and vigorous.
"Never fear my dear damsel in distress, your knight in shiny armor is here!"
He gave me a quick peck on the forehead and went like lightening to conquer the menacing half-cockroach and half-Mr Bree beast that was about to attack me.
I watched in awe as he effortlessly fight his opponent, expertly slitting it here and there with his sharp sword.
In the midst of the duel, I heard a familiar faint voice that sounded so much like Zoey's calling my name in a hush. Just as I heard the voice, the place started shaking as if it was being jolted and everything began to tumble around.
Then it all went blank.

Sky!
I woke up from sleep startled, my heart was throbbing rapidly and I was drenched in sweat. When I opened my eyes, the lucent rays of the sun slipping through the open window of my room assaulted my eyes and I impulsively shielded them with my hand. I could still recall I closed the curtains last night before sleeping so I wondered how they were wide open now.
Before I could ponder deep into that, Zoey's voice popped up from my side causing me to flinch.
"Rise and shine Sky, make each day your masterpiece!"
"Holy sh*t Zoey!" I exclaimed and sat up. whirling my entire body to the side, I faced Zoey who was standing beside my bed already dressed up for school in colored cardigan, denim mini skirt and was wearing make up.
"What are you doing in my room in this e..." My voice faltered as I took a quick glance at the digital alarm clock on the sidedrawer to verify that it was actually early in the morning and I didn't oversleep.
The clock said the time was 6:30 and therefore, fifteen minutes before my usual waking time.
"...early morning?" I finished, frowning.
"Wow! You look like you were just being chased in your dream." She chortled when she gave me a once over.
She has no idea.
"Anyway, I'm here to ensure you weren't abducted by the ghosts, I have been calling and texting you since yesterday but you ignored all my calls and messages. Why?" She said worriedly.
I gave her a black look. She knew exactly why I was cutting her off. That was because I was furious with her and her dump baseless plan that landed us four days of work detention under Mr Bree's supervision.
To put it in a nutshell, after Mr Bree caught us red-handed yesterday, he hauled us to the principal office like three perpetrators. He fed lies to the principal, Mrs Willows, that he saw us about to stuff the school with cockroaches. He even went as far as bringing along the container filled with them as proof.
Mrs Willows being the biased person she was and also a terrible judge, didn't even ask for our own side of the story, she went ahead to discipline us then called our parents and informed them about our misdemeanors.
Archer was wrongly accused and when we tried explaining to her he wasn't an accomplice in any of that, she totally shut us down. If I didn't know better, I'd say she was looking for an opportunity to punish him.
Thankfully, Archer was a kind-hearted person. When we apologized for getting him involved into all of that, he only brushed it away and said he had went through this kind of situation so many times. I didn't know what he meant by that but his nice attitude made me fall for him deeper.
And I also blamed Zoey for that. Heck, I blamed her for every single thing that happened yesterday.
"Did you really need to come and wake me up in the crack of dawn just for this?" I whined. "Go away, scram or whatever! I want to go back to sleep."
I grabbed my wrinkled blanket that traveled to the other side of the bed over the night and I threw it over my body. I slumped back to the bed and began to snore loudly pretending to fake sleep.
I heard her soft chuckle before she said. "I brought you a chocolate as a peace offering, please accept it with a forgiven heart. It's on your reading table." She paused, probably waiting for me to say something.
I increased the volume of my snore instead.
"You should stop sulking and start getting ready for school. Meanwhile, I'm gonna go see if your mom has started preparing her yummy breakfast." With that, I heard the sound of her shoes clicking against the floor as she exited the room.
The minute she left, I yanked the blanket off and rolled out of bed. After yawning loudly and spreading my hand mid air, I groggily trudged toward the bathroom sleep still lingering in my eyes. I wasn't able to sleep yesterday until past midnight because I was busy ruminating over trivial things.
I usual didn't spend great deal of time getting ready for school, so about twenty minutes later, I was already geared up in my casual outfit, a cropped shacket, jeans and sneakers. My chunky brown hair in a messy bun.
I grabbed my school back from my study chair where I dumped it yesterday. When my eyes fell on the large Hershey chocolate Zoey left on the desk, I paused hesitantly thinking about taking it or not.
Whatever.
I thought and then grabbed the chocolate. Attached to it, was a sticky note pad with a cheesy apology note scribbled on it in Zoey's beautiful penmanship.
Thousands of apologises for causing you trouble my dearest bestie. I don't know what to do without you. Please accept this dove of peace and forgive you. If you don't, I'm gonna bug you until you do!!
A loop-sided grin formed on my face as I read that, Zoey was really something else. I tossed the chocolate inside my back and walked out of the room leaving behind a huge pile of mess behind. I made a mental note to myself to fix it when I return back later. Or probably not.
The smell of mouth-watering and scrummy cinnamon roll welcomed me the moment I stepped into the kitchen, my mom was bringing out freshly baked cinnamon rolls from the oven and her back was facing me. Zoey was on top of the small kitchen island, empty plate with only a few crumbs of cinnamon rolls on her lap. She chirped when she saw me walked in.
"Sky! Your mom is the best cook I have ever met in this universe."
I smiled faintly, I'd heard this compliment a lot of times from her that I was already bored. I knew my mom was a great cook just like she was a skilled painter, but I didn't see a reason why Zoey was making a big fuss about that.
If you were wondering, I got my artistic genes from my mom and I guessed that was the only thing of hers I inherited. Our eyes and hair color where entirely different, while I had thick brown hair and plain dark brown eyes, my mom had dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. She told me I got all my features from my dad.
My mom turned around and said smiling "You're here. Morning sweetie."
"Morning Mom." I replied. I Inched to her and gave her a small peck on the cheek. I reached out and took a plate from the plate rack and served myself two cinnamon rolls.
"Are you sure this would be enough for you? We have enough to serve a country." My mom asked as she took one look at my plate.
"Yep, I think I'm good." I said walking to the island and sat next to Zoey.
"I'll have one more." Zoey declared and leaped off the island to go get it. Zoey had a greatest appetite for life and I really envied her for that. She could devour hundreds of calories and still look like a model.
I didn't say anything to Zoey until we got out of the house after my mom made sure to warn us about getting in trouble again. Yesterday when I got home, My mom spent nearly an hour chastising me about how I would blow up my chance at getting admitted into a good college if I continue misbehaving in school.
As we stepped out of my house and started walking in the walkway, Zoey stopped and turned her entire body to me making me to stop as well.
"Are you still mad at me?" She asked her face creased with worry.
"Yes, still extremely infuriated with you and don't even think I will forgive you anytime soon." I deadpanned. Deep down, I already forgave her but before I let her know that, I planned to pull her legs a little.
"I'm really really sorry Sky. I promise to never think about doing anything irrational again. I get it, you have all the right in this world to be mad at me because I was the one that convinced you into helping me at the first place but then the plan went haywire," She pleaded.
I opened my mouth to speak but she cut me off and made me reconsider forgiving her as she added,
"but don't you think you should be thanking me not getting angry, because of my imperfect plan you got to crash into someone as handsome as Archer. While I on the other hand, the only thing close to body contact I had was when a cockroach crawled on my shoe." A goofy smile appeared on her face.
If only she knows what that body contact caused to me.
"You are the worst!" I said but smiled anyway. I didn't think I could be angry with Zoey for a long time. She was a bit cracked upstairs but she was also my best friend and I really loved her like the sister I never had.
"Yeah that's what I'm looking for," She said when she saw me smiled. "are we okay now?"
"I guess." I said and walked away toward her red car parked at the front of my house.
