Chapter One: The Attack
Itachi stood in front of me, he put one hand behind his back and smiled at me. "Ready?" He asked.
I smiled and nodded, getting into a stance. "Ready!"
"Hey, (Y/N), I'm gone now. The preliminaries of the exams are going to start." Kakashi said, sticking his head into my room, where I was reading a book on my bed.
"Oh really? Are you going to come back?" I asked.
"Do you want me to come back?"
I felt my cheeks get slightly warm.
"I uh... Just do whatever you want! I'll see you whenever I do. Tell Sasuke and Naruto I said good luck." I said.
"Uncle Sasuke! And, cousin Naruto?!" Inamake yelled, running over to my room.
"What's happening, Kakashi?!" Inamake asked.
"Well, as you know about the Chūnin Exams, that there are three stages. But, we have preliminaries, when there are too many genins that passed the second stage. So, to narrow it down they have one v ones. And, we have to prepare for those now. And, your uncle and cousin have made it into the preliminaries. And, there's going to be a random selection on whose fighting, so this will be... Interesting for both of them, also Sakura." Kakashi explained.
I nodded and looked at Inamake, he looked interested and excited.
"That is so cool! And Naruto and Sasuke are going to be in it?!" He asked, excited.
Kakashi nodded.
"Ah! I want to see it! CAN I GO, MOMMY!?" He asked. "PLEASE!" He begged.
"Uh... Inamake, I don't know, if you should go." I told him.
"Please! Kakashi! Tell mommy that it's okay! There's nothing to worry about!" He begged.
Kakashi chuckles. "It will be fine, you have to stop being such a worrying mom. Chunin exams aren't that bad, and people in the audience won't be affected in any way. Don't you remember the chunin exams for when you were younger?" He asked and looked at me.
I smiled and nodded. "Of course..." I muttered.
"Huh? You were in the chunin exams?" Inamake asked, and tilted his head.
"Yes. I went against these guys from another village." I told him.
"And? Did you win?" He asked he was curious.
"Yes, the first round was easy, but when it came to the last round, it was sorta difficult. The guy was determined not to lose, and I felt like I was very close to losing but..." I trailed off.
"But?"
I panted as I stared at my opponent, we were both pretty bruised up. He glared at me. "Just give up already." He said. "There's no point in dragging this on."
"I..." I trailed off, I didn't know what to say. I don't want to give up, but I feel like if I keep going I'll pass out, bruised, and exhausted. The crowd was cheering for the other guy, he looked proud, even though he looked as damaged as me. He's strong, I guess he has a right to be proud.
"(Y/N)."
I turned my head and saw Itachi, in the very front row. He was looking at me with a smile. "Itachi..." I muttered.
"Even though no one is cheering for you, I'm cheering for you. I know you can do it." He said. "Show those people, everyone, that didn't and don't believe in you, what you can do. Cause, I have seen what you can do. Show them, show them, (Y/N). Show them the girl that I love can do."
I smiled brightly. I nodded and looked at my opponent. "My name is (Y/N) Uzumaki, and as an Uzumaki, I will not give up! And, unlike everyone here, except my lovely boyfriend. I know, I can beat you! And, when I do, you'll be crying for your mama!" I told him and giggled. I could feel Itachi looking at me with a smile.
The guy scoffs. "As if you'll beat me. I'll show you and your boyfriend, who'll win." He said.
"Someone, I was close with encouraged me, and I won!" I said.
"Woah! Then, why can't we go and encourage, Sasuke and Naruto?" Inamake asked.
"You can't go, because it's the preliminaries, you can go to the final part of the chunin exams, but preliminaries aren't everything," Kakashi said.
I sighed and nodded, "that's what I was going to say. It's mainly the sensei and students, that watch the preliminaries. Then, the real audience is at the final round." I pointed out.
"Oh," Inamake muttered.
I smiled and patted his head, "do you want to go and get some dangos? To cheer up?" I asked him.
He instantly perks up and nods.
"Alright, I'll go and get ready." I said.
"Okay, I'll leave when you two leave, I'll be in the living room." He said, then walked out of my room.
"I'll get ready too!" Inamake cheered, running out of my room.
I sighed and closed my door.
Chunin Exams.
Then a memory came to me, when I was "training" with my old boyfriend.
Horse. Dog. Bird. Ox. Snake.
Earth and Stone Dragon!
A large dragon popped out and shot out towards Itachi, but before it reached him it crumbled.
I looked at him with a huge grin. "Itachi! You saw that! It was so cool! And, large!" I said, happily.
Itachi chuckles. "I'm glad you got it to form. But, it isn't stable, how are you going to have that as your secret jutsu if you can't keep it stable?" He asked.
"Ugh... I specialize in earth release type jutsu, but I can't like perfect them." I muttered.
He sighs and walks over to me as I plop down onto the ground. He kneels in front of me and pats my head. "Don't be so pouty, dear."
"I'm trying not to."
He smiles and places a kiss on my forehead. "You'll get it, the chunin exams are just a few weeks away." He said.
I sighed. "I just wish I had someone that can teach me. I remember my parents both being able to perfectly perform earth release jutsu. I only know what I'm doing, because of them. But, they're rarely around for me to know what I'm doing."
"Well, love, you need praise for having that memory of yours. It's amazing how you can remember all the jutsu they performed." He smiled.
"Haha... It's hard for me to forget things." I said.
"That's a good thing. Don't you think?"
I smiled and nodded. "Yeah."
"Okay, then let's get back to practicing," Itachi said, and stood up, holding his hand out to me. I grinned and took his hand, then he pulled me up.
He then lets go of my hand, then takes a few steps back. "Ready?" He asked.
I nodded and got into a stance. "You should be ready when I'm done!" I said.
He chuckled, "I love your confidence." He said.
I felt my cheeks heat up. "...Are you flirting or what?"
"I'm complimenting my lovely girlfriend."
"Ugh... You're such a distraction..." I pouted and looked away.
"Don't let your guard down." He said, then when I looked at him I saw a fireball coming my way.
I weaved the signs of the mud wall jutsu, blocking the fireball.
I huffed and looked at my boyfriend. "Sometimes, I don't know how to feel about you." I said.
He smiles, innocently. "Sorry, dear."
"...You make me wanna vomit sometimes."
"Don't vomit on me, like you did for our first date."
"I-I said sorry!! You fed me too many dangos!" I huffed.
"You just couldn't handle the sweetness." He chuckled.
"Pfftt... I'm going hooommee!" I whined, and turned around and was about to walk away, until my wrist was grabbed and turned back around, facing my boyfriend.
He smiles, "you know, you could've lost." He said, his face was close to mine.
I felt my cheeks heating up, "you're too close..." I muttered.
"You get distracted easily."
"You're a distraction."
"You choose to let me distract you."
"..."
"..."
I huffed, and grabbed his collar and pulled his face closer to mine. His cheeks grew red as his eyes looked into mine. I smiled as I leaned forward, my lips inches away from his. "Hey... Itachi?"
"...Yes?"
"Don't get distracted~." I cooed, then swiped my leg under his, making him fall onto his ass.
"I did it!" I cheered, and stuck my tongue out at him.
He sighs and looks at me. "That was... Smart. A great tactic." He chuckled.
"Thank you! Maybe, I can use it in the exams." I laughed.
"I don't think I want to see you, pulling guys close and almost kiss them, to be honest, I would get jealous." He said.
"Aw, do you want me to only do it to you~?" I asked.
He looks at me with red cheeks, then nods. "Only me." He told me.
I blushed and smiled. "Okay, only you."
I sighed as I finished getting ready.
Training with Itachi wasn't really training sometimes, it would be training for half of the time, but then we would probably goof off and get distracted with each other. It was surprising when the Uchiha got distracted, though.
But, he would tell me, he only got distracted around me, because he feels safe around me and feels like nothing bad can happen when he's next to me.
I glanced at my open closet, and saw a box sitting on the top shelf.
"(Y/N)! Are you ready?!" Kakashi shouted.
I jumped, "y-yeah! Coming!" I shouted and left my room. I ran to the living room, where Kakashi and Inamake was.
"What was taking so long?" Inamake asked.
"Lady stuff~. You'll understand when you're older~." I cooed to him.
"But, I'm getting older everyday!"
"Tell me that you're older, when you finally get taller than me."
"I'll get taller soon!"
"Drink your milk then."
"Nooo, I don't wanna!" He pouted.
"Your father is taller than me, so..." I hummed, actually, I don't know if Itachi drunk milk, but Inamake needs to drink his milk more often.
"...Ugh!" He whined. "Okay..." He pouted.
"I feel like I'm listening to two (Y/N)'s talking to each other," Kakashi muttered. "Come on you two."
"Coming!" Inamake smiled, held my hand and we both walked out of my house, Kakashi closed it and then I locked the door.
Kakashi then goes his own way, as me and Inamake go to a tea shop.
Once there, I let go of Inamake's hand. "You'll be fine standing out here?" I asked him.
He nods. "Yes, mommy!" He told me.
"Alright, I'll be in and out," I told him.
"Okay!"
I sighed and went inside the shop since everyone is probably heading to the preliminaries to watch the fights, there wasn't a line.
I walked up to the counter and ordered two dangos.
Not even a minute passed, I suddenly heard a loud slam, and my eyes quickly looked outside, through the window. This kid, that looked Inamake's age, but a bit bigger pushed him against the wall.
"Haha! Poor boy! No one is here to defend you! Where's your mommy? Or your daddy?!" The kid shouted.
I huffed and headed to the door, but before I opened the door, Inamake said with a smile, "my mommy is getting me and her some sweets! And, I don't know where my daddy is! But, he's somewhere, watching over us!"
"Wrong. Your dad left you and your mother." The kid said.
Inamake tilted his head. "And? I don't care if he left. I still have mommy!"
"She's going to leave you too. Cause, no one wants you."
"Mommy does. And, she'll never leave me!"
"Yes sh--"
"No, I won't!" I huffed as I slammed the door open. "Let go of my son, you little shit head! I don't care how old you are! I'm only thirteen years older than you, fuck with my son and I will fuck your life up!"
The boy jumped and instantly ran away. Inamake looked at me with a smile. "Mommy, you're so scary!" He cheered.
I smiled and kneeled in front of him. "Thank you, are you okay?"
He nods. "Yes, Mommy!" He said, throwing his arms around me.
"Who was that kid? Has he always been messing with you?" I asked him.
"That's Rika... He's always been mean to me, every time I visit that playground. That's why I don't go there anymore." He told me.
"Oh." I huffed, "I should've known." I sighed and shook my head, before standing up. "I and your father had our deal of bullies." I told him, "that is one of the cons of being a child, some other dipshit of a kid, picking on you."
"Woah, Mommy, I've never heard you say so many swear words~!" Inamake said as if it was cool.
I smiled at him. "It's only because bullies piss me off. But, that doesn't mean you can go around, cussing, okay?"
"But, Uncle Naruto and Sasuke swear."
"Because they have no filter. Anyway, do you still want a dango?" I asked him.
He pouts and shakes his head. "I lost my appetite..." He sighed.
"Are you sure?..."
He nods. "Let's go home, I suddenly feel tired." He said.
"Alright, come on." I held his hand and walked home with him.
...
"AACCHHOOOO!"
"Bless you," I sighed and put the soup by his bed.
I sighed and looked up at the sky, the clouds were turning grey. It's going to rain soon.
I looked at Inamake, he looked at me with an excited grin.
"Are you sure you want to try some practice? It's going to rain." I said.
"Yes, I'm sure! Rain isn't going to hurt me!" He shouted.
"AAAACCHOOOO!!" Inamake sneezed, and blew into his tissue, before throwing it into the trashcan, I placed by his bed.
"'Rain isn't going to hurt me!'" I mocked and smiled at him.
He pouts and looks at me. "...You don't have to mock me, Mommy..." He pouted.
"Can't help it~." I giggled.
It's been a month since the preliminaries, we weren't able tot know about what happened, because Sasuke was training with Kakashi and Naruto was supposed to be training with Ebisu.
He takes the bowl of soup and sips on it, completely ignoring the spoon.
I can't even blame him, I do the same thing... He probably picked that up from me, not probably, he one hundred percent got it from me.
"(Y/N)! Inamake!"
I heard the front door open and close, and the familiar voice calling out our name.
"We're in Inamake's room!" I shouted.
Kakashi walked up the stairs and into Inamake's room.
"Hey, are you two coming to the final exam?" He asked.
I shook my head. "No, Inamake got sick, yesterday, and he got a fever, so he has to rest up and get better," I told him.
"Oh, hm, well I'll tell Naruto and Sasuke that you wished them luck." He said.
I smiled and nodded. "Okay."
"...I wanna go..." Inamake pouted.
"Eh, well, I told you this morning, that you can't go, because you're sick, so all you can do now is rest up and send them wishes in bed," I told him.
Kakashi nods in agreement. "Yeah, get better, Inamake. I'll be back later."
"Okay, hope everything goes well!"
Kakashi nods again before he leaves.
Inamake sighs and looks at me. "This sucks..."
"Well, you learned your lesson, but you shouldn't worry about anything. " I said.
"I guess..." He pouts. "...Since I can't go anywhere, can you tell me about my grandparents?" He asked, curiously.
I looked at him. "Which one?" I asked.
"Your parents! Who are they? Where are they? Anything!" He said and smiled.
"My parents... Hm... My parents, Rin and Chikyu Uzumaki, my parents are both from Iwagakure, Hidden Stone Village. My father is an Uzumaki, but I don't know what clan my mother is from. They came to Konoha before I was born. But, where are they? I honestly don't know, they went on a mission many years ago, but never came back." I told him.
"Aw... So... I can never meet my grandparents." He pouted.
"Sorry, sweetie." I sighed.
"It's okay..." He said.
"But, aren't you glad you got to meet the family you have here? Naruto and Sasuke?" I asked.
He smiles and nods. "Yeah."
CRRRRAASSSHHHH!
The ground shakes, as Inamake looks at me. "What was that?" He asked he sounded scared.
"I...I don't know." I told him, before getting up. "I'll check," I said and went over to his window and opened it, I climbed out of the window and climbed onto the rooftop to see what was happening. Once on top, I saw a large snake break through the wall of Konoha.
"What the hell?..."
I quickly went back inside and closed the window, I looked at my son. "Inamake, stay calm, okay?" I told him.
He nods. "What's happening?" He asked.
"...Someone seemed to have summoned a large giant snake, that broke through the wall of Konoha." I said.
"W-WHAT?!" He asked, with wide eyes.
"Stay calm, the shinobi of Konoha are capable of taking care of it, and keeping Konoha safe." I sighed and walked over to him.
"Aren't you going to help?"
I shook my head and crossed my arms, before sitting on his bed.
"As a fellow shinobi of Konoha, my priority is to protect every one of Konoha from threats. But, I'm a mother first. If the snake comes near where we live and poses a threat to you, then I'll do everything in my power to keep you safe and give you a chance to run away to somewhere safer." I explained.
"But--"
"Inamake," I looked at him, before giving him a small smile. "This isn't the time for you to tell me, that I should protect the village," I told him and sighed. "My view is to protect my actual family first, before protecting the village that is your supposed family..."
Inamake nods, understanding what I meant.
I then stood up, and held my hand out to him. "We should go to the basement, it'll be safer, and we have some snacks in there too, that we can munch on." I told him.
He nods and gets out of his bed, and holds my hand.
"But... If I didn't have a family to protect, I'll protect the village." I muttered. "But, I have a family, a son." I smiled at him, as we left his room and went downstairs.
He smiles and nods. "I get it! I want to protect my family too! So, I'll become stronger, so you don't have to worry about protecting me!" He said. "And, then, I'll protect you and make sure you're safe!"
I giggled and kissed his forehead. "You're cute," I told him, before going over to the couches that were in the living room, I moved the rug, and revealed a trapdoor that blended in with the floor, that led down to the basement.
"NOOOO! I'M HANDSOME!" He pouted.
I smiled and flicked his forehead. "Inside voice."
He pouts and rubs his forehead. "Sorry..."
I opened the trapdoor, and looked at him, "just hold onto the ladder, tight." I told him.
He looks down, "it looks dark..." He pouted.
I smiled, "it's fine." I said.
"A-Are you sure?" He asked me.
I nodded, "yes, I promise, you'll be fine. Oh! Actually!" I headed over to the kitchen, grabbed a candle and a match, I lit the match and held it to the candle, lighting the candle. I blew the match out and went back over to Inamake. "Here! When you get down there, I'll hand this to you." I said.
He nods. "A-Alright." He mutters, before climbing down the ladder.
I stepped onto the ladder, then held the candle out to him.
He takes the candle, lighting up the basement.
I closed the door, then climbed down the ladder.
Inamake looked around the basement, "how long did we have this?" He asked me.
"Um, since we moved in? The house was built with it, Kakashi thought it would be a good feature." I told him, then walked over to the shelves, that was stacked with snacks. They weren't near or anywhere close to their expiration dates.
"Oh... Mommy, you said, someone summoned a snake...? Summoned? What's summoning?" He asked.
"Summoning is basically when you summon a creature or thing that can be used for your benefit, like to help you in a fight," I explained to him.
"Oh! That's so cool! Can you summon!?" He asked.
I nodded. "Like, Kakashi he can summon ninken, ninja dogs that excel at tracking and other things. And, I can summon ninken too, Kakashi has his pack and I have my own too." I said.
"Really!? Can I see?!" He looked at me, eyes filled with excitement.
"...Hm..." I thought about it, it actually might be good to summon one of them, and get them to check out what's happening in the village.
I bit my thumb, causing blood to drip from my thumb, then I did the five hand signs Boar, Dog, Bird, Monkey, and finally, Ram then pressed my hand against the floor.
Then a small puff of smoke appeared, "(Y/N), it's been a while since you summoned me." A voice said.
The smoke disappeared, and there stood a rather large black and brown spotted ninken, Oni.
I smiled and petted her head, "I can't summon you every day." I told her.
"Hmph. I believe I'm owed some of those treats you always have." She said.
"Ah... I'll have to fix some." I muttered and then shook my head. "Wait! Oni, don't get me off track!" I said.
"Right, you had a reason to summon me?"
"Yes, there's some danger in the village, and as I would like to try and help, my skills won't be useful against a giant snake and I have someone I have to keep safe first," I told her and pointed at my son, who was just staring at her in awe.
She looks at Inamake, she then gets close to him and sniffs him. "...You're not him." She muttered, before looking at me. "You want me to check out what's happening, right?" She asked.
I nodded and opened the trapdoor, "yup," I hummed out.
She nods. "I'll be back then." She said and climbs out of the basement. I closed the door behind her, and looked at my son, who looked amazed.
"Woah..." Inamake said.
I smiled at him, "Oni is the leader of my Ninken pack. Me and her go way back to when I was thirteen when Kakashi first taught me summoning, I was able to summon Ninken." I said.
"Can you only summon Ninken?" He asked.
I shook my head. "No, I can summon a bird, a falcon, I only summon it to be able to send and retrieve messages, and to survey the area," I told him.
"Woah! That's so cool!" He smiled. "Have you been able to use them in missions?" He asked.
"Uhm... The first time, was when I was fifteen, and the mission was a simple retrieve a message or check out something, but it got dangerous when I was swarmed by enemies." I said. "And, my teammates had abandoned me." I told him.
"What!?" He looked at me shocked.
"Kids from the academy, aren't the biggest fans of me." I smiled. "But, anyway... After they ran away, it was..."
Five different ninjas hid in the trees, they were looking for me.
Ha... This is kind of scary.
I felt my hands shaking, I have a two-year-old at home, waiting for me. And, I can't just abandon my mission, I have to retrieve those shinobi in the center.
"This isn't time for you to be getting scared, (Y/N)." I looked down and saw Oni and the pack of Ninken. "When you're scared, your brain isn't functioning correctly, so snap out of it." She said, "you're smarter than those dimwits that ran away, with pee in their pants, and more capable than them. So, we're going to need you to stop being scared and lead us victory, so you can see your son."
I nodded, "right..."
I glanced from behind the boulder I was using as a hiding spot. I could see two in the trees, those two seem to be new, they look nervous and looking around frantically.
I looked at the pack of ninken, "I'm going to knock them out of the trees, by making the trees shakes, a few them look new and don't seem so focused, so they probably, aren't using their chakra correctly to stay in the tree. But, this move doesn't have a long-range, so I'll have to act a bit reckless." I told them.
"...I said be smart, not stupid." Oni said.
I smiled, "old habits, don't die easily. I'm still the reckless Uzumaki, that can rush into a mission to save someone that needs to be saved." I said and then pointed at the two shinobi, that were in the wide open.
Oni sighs and nods, "we'll cover you, if they attack."
I nodded, "got it!" I then took a deep breath.
Inamake, I'll do this quickly, so I can come home and we can get some dangos together.
I then ran out to the center, the ninja instantly noticed me, "there she is!"
I could hear them reading their kunai and shuriken to be thrown at me.
Snake sign, then I slammed my hand on the ground. Then I focused my chakra, in the five meters the trees are in, where the ninja are, and directed the waves in all directions, shaking the trees, shaking the men out of their trees.
"WOAH!" They all gasped as they fell.
"NOW!"
The pack of ninken quickly took out the men.
I looked at them, "is that all of them?"
The ninken nodded, "yeah."
I looked at the two shinobi, they were bruised and heavily beaten, but they're breathing. I let out a relieved sigh, and reach down to pick them up, until something cut my cheek.
I looked and saw a man, kunai in his hands, staring at me, did they forget one?
No, this one was hiding, he's covered in dirt.
I stood up and looked at the man, "my son is expecting me, so I have to end this quickly." I told him.
Horse, Dog, Bird, Ox, and finally Snake.
A large stone dragon-like creature shot out of the ground and towards the man, consuming him and then crumbling into rock.
"You could've done that earlier?" Oni asked.
I smiled and looked at her, "it's my finishing move."
"...So, anti-climatic, he didn't even give a real fight.."
I picked up the two shinobi, carrying them on my back, and headed back to Konoha.
I panted softly as I made it to the entrance into Konoha, there I saw Kakashi holding Inamake on his hip, and my teammates slumped at Kakashi's feet. I smiled and walked up to them.
"I was very tempted to come and help you, but I couldn't leave your son with anyone," Kakashi said.
I smiled, "thank you." I said.
I looked at Inamake, who was staring at my cut, he looked sad.
"You're too young to be worrying about Mommy getting hurt." I told him, "I have to drop these guys off before I can do anything."
"Mommy..." Inamake muttered, he looked at me with watery eyes.
"...?"
"You scare me, Mommy." He told me, and clung onto Kakashi. "...You're hurt, Mommy... And, it scares me..." He muttered. "I don't want Mommy getting hurt."
"...That's the part of being a shinobi, you're going to get hurt. But, as long as I come home, it'll be fine." I smiled and looked back at the men that were on my back. "I'm sorry for scaring you, I won't get hurt anymore," I told him.
"...You promise?"
"I promise."
"Five against one, but it wasn't hard. Just it was a team, against one girl, that was worrying about going home to see her kid one more time. Every shinobi, worries about going home to see their family or those they love one more time. Comes with the job. But... Us, shinobi has to push through, finish the mission to the best we can, and then see those we love just a few more times." I said.
"Being a shinobi sounds kind of scary but..." He trailed off.
I smiled and patted his head, "you can't be scared of everything your whole life. But, it's okay to be scared too." I said.
"Oh, hm... When I become a shinobi, I'm going to save my comrades, keep my family safe, and fight away my fears." He smiled.
"You'll be a great shinobi." I told him, then grabbed a bag of chips, then sat down on the floor. Inamake sits beside me, I opened the bag and placed it in between us.
In a comfortable silence, we ate out of the bag together, while waiting.
After what felt like an hour passed, there was a scratch at the door.
"(Y/N), open up, I got your boyfriend." I heard Oni say.
"Boyfriend?" I went over to the ladder, and climbed up, I then opened the trapdoor and poked my head out of the trapdoor, seeing Oni and Kakashi.
I sighed. "That is not my boyfriend..." I told her.
"Hm? But, Pakkun says, you two are really close." She said.
"...Anyway..." I muttered and looked at Kakashi. "Did Oni go to you?" I asked.
"I ran into her, she told me you two were in your basement, waiting it out." He said. "Well, it's okay for you two to come out now."
"Really? What happened?"
"Hm... Orochimaru and the sand village attacked, but Master Jiraiya handled the snake and Lord Third handled Orochimaru... But, that cost him his life." He told me.
"W-Wait, what does that mean?" I asked.
"Lord Third is dead."
"What?!" Me and Inamake, who was listening, shouted.
"R-Really!? The Third Hokage is dead?! I-Is Naruto and Sasuke alright!?" Inamake asked.
Kakashi nodded, "yes, they are, they had something else to deal with, but they're fine, just resting." He sighed.
I sighed, relieved. "Well that's good..." I said, then looked at Inamake, who looked a bit daze.
"Are you okay?" I asked him.
"So... We have to get a new Hokage?" Inamake asked.
I nodded.
"N-Naruto can be Hokage then!" He said.
"Uh... I don't think they'll let him do that, right now." I told him, then climbed out of the basement. "Come on, Inamake."
He nods, blowing out the candle, then climbing out of the basement.
I closed the trapdoor, then looked at Oni. "Thank you, Oni."
"Hm, I want my treats." She said.
"Yeah, yeah. You'll get them when I make them." I smiled.
"Better see them next time you summon me!" She told me, then went poof.
I sighed. "So.. Greedy." I muttered.
After that, everyone was preparing for the funeral of the Third Hokage. When it was ready, everyone in the village gathered around, and remembered our Hokage.
I looked at Inamake, to see if he was crying, but he was just standing there with a stoic look. I guess, it was because, he didn't know the Hokage on a personal level.
I bended down to his level, and looked at him. "Are you okay?" I whispered.
He nods. "I'm a little sad... But, for some reason... I'm not that sad." He told me.
"Is it, because you didn't know him on a personal level?" I asked him.
"I-I guess so." He said and looked at me. "I guess I can only cry for people that I know..." He muttered.
"That's okay." I smiled and patted his head. I laid my head on top of his, "I can only cry for people that I know too. But, when people die, I still get sad, but not to the point that I'm going to cry. Haha, you're just like me." I said.
He smiles and nods. "That isn't a bad thing?" He asked.
"No it isn't." I told him, and ruffled his hair.
[Ah, it's 5300+ words, but it was going to be a lot more, but I did a lot of editing and cutting stuff out. I really wanted to get a chapter out this month, I wanna try to publish chapters once a month, I already have chapters in the draft, that I've been working on. But, I'm trying to work on these chapters, while getting story and plot, stuff whatever, character relationships and stuff all worked out, outdoing the original book. So, just hold up with me for a while, hopefully I don't work myself to the booonneee. Hope y'all enjoyed!]
