PoV: Tails

"Okay," I let Sonic out of his cage the minute we got back to my house, but Knuckles didn't want Sonic to be completely loose. So we kept his hands tied behind his back for now.

"No cell?" Sonic looked around, "I figured you'd want to be more cautious."

"We won't treat you like a villain, you're still our friend," I had him sit on the couch for now, "You probrably still want the chillidogs, right? I'll heat them up for you-"

"I'm not hungry. I merely wanted to see what kind of trap it was," he said.

"Right," I put the chillidogs in the fridge for now. It was awkward having him back. He was completely different.

"Tails, I don't think theres much we can do," Amy rubbed my shoulder, "Not unless we can get him to talk."

"I'll get him to talk. I need him back..." I grabbed a blanket and set it out on the couch next to Sonic.

I didn't want Sonic back for the team anymore. Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks were fight fighting Eggmans robots, they could handle it. But Sonic... he was my hero. I still needed him by my side.

"I'll take first watch," Knuckles sat down across from Sonic, they used to be best friends until they fought oneday.

"Sonic, what do you want to do? I still have all our old video games. We could play," I pulled out the stack of games we had.

"I'm not interested. You asked what I wanted to do? I'll answer you if you'd like, but only tonight, when we're alone," Sonic glared at Knuckles before turning away, "I'm gonna take a nap. You touch me and I'll make you regret it."

"Okay..." I watched as Sonic laid down and closed his eyes. Eventually his face changed to a soft and peaceful look and his breathing slowed.

"He trusts us enough to fall asleep," Amy spoke, breaking the silence that had been surrounding the room, "I can't believe Eggman is controlling him..."

"There is a downside. Right now Shadow only listens to Eggman, so we'd be under Eggmans orders till he croaks..."

"It's not Eggman," I corrected her, "Sonic's following Shadow. He doesn't care about Eggman or his plans. He's following Shadow," I looked at the outfit he was wearing, "Shadow's the one doing this to him. Making him wear this uniform, hurting other people... it's all because of Shadow."

"But... why would he follow Shadow? He tried so hard for Shadow to come to the team..." Amy was about to touch Sonics cheek when he opened his eyes.

"I told you not to touch me," Sonic was awake, how much had he heard, "I lost my will to sleep now."

This is Shadow's fault.

"Sonic," I pulled him into the next room and locked the door, "Let's talk now."

"Eh... they're listening on the other side of the door. I'll talk when they leave," he sat down on the ground.

"We talk now!" I snapped at him, I never yelled at him before...

"Oh? You're starting to toughen up," he smiled, I didn't like his new smile. I wanted his old one back.

"What is Shadow planning? Why are you following him?" I asked.

"Shadow? Hahahahahaha!" He burst out laughing ,"He's a useless Master at this point. Shadow doesn't plan anything. He merely follows Eggmans insane plan to take over the world and roboticize everyone. The idiot doctor is planning on ruling an empty wasteland."

"Wasteland... but you can't! I won't let everyone turn into mindless machines!" I hated every word of Eggmans plan, "Besides all the revoticizers were destroyed by you! You made sure Robotnik couldn't hurt anyone ever again!"

"Hm? You'd think so, wouldn't you? Did you forget that freedom fighters existed before you were born? My Uncle taught me everything before I had your inventions. I can build a roboticizer from scratch if I want to. Unfortunately for Eggman, I don't want to."

He knows how... but...

"That doesn't make sense... you were always clueless when Rotor or I talked about anything... Sally knew more about machines than you do... You've always-"

"Its called a lie Tails. I thought I taught you better than that," Sonic pulled his arms from behind him. He had untied his wrists!

"I won't let you leave!" I blocked the door.

"I wasn't planning on going anywhere, just getting more comfortable," he remained where he was... for now.

"You didn't answer my other question yet... Why are you following Shadow?" I sat down, I felt more betrayed than before...

"To put it simply..." He smiled a soft smile I hadn't seen before, "I love him."

"You what..."
