Chapter~ 2
Many years have passed and Marinette is having a masquerade ball for her 16th birthday. Adrien hadn't seen Marinette since her 13th birthday party. She kind of disappeared, she doesn't write anymore, he don't see her out in the kingdom with the people anymore, she hasn't talk to Adrien in years.
When the masquerade began no one knew what Marinette looked like at the time, no one but her family had seen her in the years that she 'disappeared.' She was locked away in the castle people would say. There was a beautiful young girl standing alone looking at the faces in the crowd. Her dark black hair was up in a bun and the the dress she was wearing was red with black spots around the waist leading down to the bottom of the dress.
She wore long black gloves that matched the black on the shimmering dress. Adrien wanted to dance with this girl because she was too pretty not to dance with. Though he wished he could find Marinette where ever she could be.
Marinette's POV:
I was standing there trying to see if I could see Adrien behind his mask. When I feel a tap on my shoulder from behind. "Please don'T be Nathaneal, please." I thought as I turned around to see a handsome blond young man with piercing green eyes almost like a cat.
"May I have this dance m'lady?" He asks me and I nod my head yes. He was wearing a black suit with a green vest and a black tie with a tiny green paw print at the end of it. That is strange why would anyone have a cat paw on their tie? I thought slowly while the slow song started to play throughout the room. There are other couples surrounding us so we are not alone on the dance floor.
The only person who knows what I am wearing tonight is my lady in waiting, Alya, she had became my best friend over the years other than Adrien. Speaking of Adrien where could he be right now? Anyways not even my family know what I am wearing. I am wearing a simple black mask on my face to hide my identity from the people in the room.
I wasn't allowed to come out tonight to the party because my father has been convinced I would run away. He told me something about my future that I am not happy about but I would never abandon our kingdom let alone our people.
I then see guards checking women under the masks and get nervous so I quickly ask, "Would you like to go out side to the balcony?" I start heading toward the side doors before I even hear a response. When I open the doors and walk out the guy I was dancing with was right behind me.
"Where do you think the princess was tonight it is her 16th birthday? I was looking for her but I couldn't find her." The man said staring off into the garden with trees full of lights.
I freeze a little at the question but all I do is spin the little ring given to me by Adrien on my finger. No one knows he gave it to me but him and Alya so if someone saw they would think it was just a gift from someone not important. But his is one of the most important people to me. But it's way more than a gift it's a story a happily ever after, a fantasy that can never happen.
I sigh at the thoughts, which gets the attention of the man standing next to me. "What's the matter?" Is all he asks. I guess no one really will recognize me because I haven't been out of the castle in about four years thanks to my dad.
"It's just I made a promise to someone and I won't be able to keep it for when I come of age to be married." I say slowly with another sigh. "I really love them but I haven't seen them in so long,I bet they have moved on already."
"Well I guess I am in the same boat. I love this girl who is very special to me but I haven't seen her in many years. But she might have already moved on without me." He said with a frown on his face. I turn around and see the king announcing that the dance is ending soon.
"Thank you so much I really needed this talk with someone other than my best friend." I said and gave him a kiss on the cheek as I ran toward the staircase to the upstairs.
Adrien POV:
As she ran away from me up the stairs a glint from somewhere on her hand caught my attention. When she stopped at the top of the staircase she took off her mask and heels to run. She turns her head to look at me and it's her, Marinette. She was so grown up compared to the girl I used to know.
I try to run after her but I am stopped by guards. While other guards run up the stairs around me going after her. And she was gone.
