"Are you nervous about getting sorted?" Miles asks, whispering in my ear. His breath hits my neck, making me blush pink. I turn to answer him but see how close we are. It would be too close to Adrian's liking, but thankfully, he's in the front; being a prefect, he has to sit there. Theo doesn't like seeing the first years get sorted, so normally we would sit in the back, but I wanted to see Adle get sorted, so I sat in the middle and Miles joined me.

"I, uh—yeah, I was a little nervous, I guess," I fumble over my words. For the first time in four years since I've known Miles, I see he has freckles—some on his cheeks but mostly on his nose. His honey eyes look at mine from my right eye to my left eye to my nose.

"Adle Pucey."

I quickly look at Adle, who looks stiff as a new book, but she slowly walks up the steps and sits on the stool. McGonagall places the hat on her head, and the hat thinks for a good two minutes.

"SLYTHERIN!"

"Yes!" I yell, scaring the kid next to me. I was clapping the loudest—well, Adrian was clapping the loudest, but so was I. She sits in the front next to Adrian, who has the same smile he did four years ago when I was placed in Slytherin.

Dumadoor announced the two schools and made a speech about the cup.

...

"I thought she would be in Ravenclaw," Adrian says to me as we walk into the common room. He had ten first-year boys following him as he showed them the boys' dormitory. One of the first years raises his hand.

"Yes," Adrian says, ready to answer any questions they had for him.

"Umm, I thought girls weren't allowed to be in the boys' dormitory," he says rather shyly, looking at me and then at Adrian. Adrian glances at me before answering him.

"Girls are allowed to be in the boys' dorms, and boys are allowed in the girls' dorms. Our house is the only house that allows that," he says, looking at the boys. "If you are found in the girls' dormitory after hours, you will get in trouble." They all nod, showing that they understand."Okay, then do any of you have any questions?" He asks. They all shake their heads no. "Remember, if any of you have questions, you can tell me or another prefect. Good night," he says to them. I walk with him to his dorm.

Adrian and Miles share a dorm. In the beginning, they shared a dorm with someone else in their first year, but he transferred in his second year, so now they have the room to themselves.

"Hey, Miles," I say, walking in with Adrian. Miles is on his bed, Astronomy book in hand, frown on his face, showing that he didn't understand the book. I smile at the thought of him not understanding astronomy. For me, Astronomy comes easy.

"Hey, Ari," he says, still frowning, looking up from the book to me, grinning from ear to ear."Shit, I have to go, guys. I have duties to do and people to get in trouble," Adrian says, sighing and smiling at the thought of getting people in trouble. "Ciao, perdenti."

I roll my eyes at his words. I flop down on Adrian's bed, letting out a loud sigh. I noted that my bed was much more comfortable then Adrain's bed.

"What does that mean?" Miles asks, looking from the door to me.

"It means 'losers' in Italian," I say, turning to face him.

"Umm, Ari, are you any good in astronomy?" Miles says, looking at me in hopes I could help him. I smile, get up from the bed, and walk towards his bed.

"Let me see," I say, pointing at his book, sitting next to him, kicking off my shoes so I don't get his bed dirty. He passes me the book; I read through it quickly and pass it back to him. I had already read the book last summer, so I knew what it was all about. After about an hour of explaining the book to him, I tell him the important pages and chapters of the book that he could read on his own.

"Okay, anything else you need help on before I go?" I ask, moving to get off the bed to put my shoes on.

"No—well, kind of. I wanted to ask you something, and it's okay if you say no," he says nervously, looking anywhere but at me.

"Yeah, what is it?" I say, turning my attention to him.

"WouldyougoonadatewithmetoHogsmeade?" he says in one breath. The only word I understood was Hogsmeade.

"I'm sorry," I say, looking at him in confusion. I blanked once and then twice.

"Never mind; you should go before it gets late," he says, looking down at his hands and playing with his family ring.

"No, Miles, tell me. I just didn't understand what you said," I say, moving closer to him and taking his hand in mine so he knows I was paying attention to him. He looks down at our hands and smiles.

"Well, would you go to Hogsmeade with me? Like on a date?" he says, blushing a bit red.

"I would love to go on a date with you," I say, smiling at him.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go," I say, getting off his bed and sliding on my shoes. I walk to the other side of his bed where he was at. He looks up at me confused. I lean down so our faces are on the same level and kiss his cheek softly. I pull away, blushing like crazy, and look at Miles, who is in shock, blushing as well. I walk to the door, still smiling at the fact that I just kissed my brother's best friend.

"Bye, Miles," I say before closing his door and walking through the common room up to my dorm. When I open my door and see Daphne on her bed, laying on her stomach, reading a book.

"Well, look who finally showed up, the one and only Ariana Celeste Pucey," She says, getting up from the bed and jumping into my arms, making me stumble back, hitting the door.

Daph and I are like sisters from different parents. The minute we met, we hit it off. I hug her back, and we take one look at each other and start giggling like little kids.

"Oh, I missed you so, so much, Daph," I say, rocking us side to side.

"Me too, Ari," She pulls away. "So, are you going to tell me who has you blushing?"

"You know how I had a crush on Miles last year?" I say, sitting on my bed facing her as she sits on her bed.

"Yeah, he was the only thing you would talk about," She says teasingly, wiggling her brows. I roll my eyes at her.

"Well, like I was saying, he asked me on a date to Hogsmeade," I say, giggling at the thought of going on a date with him.

"NO WAY. And you said yes, right?" Daphne asks eagerly.

"Of course, I said yes. Oh, and before leaving, I kissed him on the cheek," I say, excitement bubbling within me as I recall the moment.

"You did not. The girl who blushed like crazy just by looking at him KISSED him?" Daphne's eyes widen in astonishment.

"Yep, I kissed him," I say, very proudly.

"And what did he say?" Daphne leans closer to me, her curiosity piqued.

"He was in shock, and I left before he could say anything," I told her. She crosses her arms and gets up from her bed, walking over to mine. Before I knew it, she hits my arm with her hand.

"Ow, that hurt! Why would you do that?" I say, getting up from my bed and stepping away from her, just in case she hits me again.

"Why would you leave after kissing him?" she says, her tone softer now. She had a good point; why would I leave?

"I was nervous, I guess?" I walk back to my bed, seeing that she was no longer going to hit me. This time she sits next to me, and I'm glad for her presence.

"You okay?" she asks, her voice and face softening.

"No," I say, laying my head on her lap, sighing softly.

"Do you know who your real parents are?" she says, looking down at me with a sad smile. I shake my head no. I get up from her lap and my bed, kicking my shoes off, and open my trunk to get my pajamas, getting ready for bed. I change behind a divider that's in our dorm, then climb back into bed. Daphne is already laying down on her bed.

"You know I'm always here for you. Even during the summer, you can always come and stay with me," I hear Daphne say, breaking the silence.

"Yeah, I know. Thank you," I say back. I knew she was there for me, and so was Theo and Enzo. They knew I was there for them, even in the darkest times. I turned to my left, closing my eyes, and let sleep take over.
