"Ari." Lorenzo was in front of me, grinning. Enzo was also taller. I walked towards him to hug him, wrapping my arms around his tall frame, and he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me closer to him. He knew something was wrong.
"Hey, Enzo," I said, pulling away a bit from the hug to look up at him. He looked down and kissed the top of my forehead. I blushed and buried my head in his chest.
"It's going to be okay, Ari. You don't have to worry anymore," he whispered in my ear. Finally, I felt at peace. Enzo pulled away and took my hand, leading me to a compartment. When Enzo opened the door, I was surprised to see two people inside - my best friend and the worst person in the world. The moment I saw Riddle's stupid face, I rolled my eyes. I knew that Enzo and Riddle were excellent friends, so I didn't mind. Enzo could be friends with whoever he wanted, but Riddle? Really?
Theo got up from where he sat and hugged me, spinning me a little as well. I giggled at the boy in front of me, Theo, who also grew tall. He was taller than Enzo but a little shorter than Miles. I hadn't seen Theo since my birthday. His hair was also longer, his face still had some baby fat that would probably be gone by next year.
"Theo, what are you doing here? I thought you were at the next stop?" I said, smiling like an idiot. All the bad things I thought flew out the window when I saw him.
"Enzo's dad let me stay at his a week before school," he says, sitting back down. I sat next to him, and Enzo sat next to Riddle, who was in front of me glaring at me.
"You know, Riddle, it's rude to stare at people," I say in a sugar-sweet voice to annoy him. He just rolls his eyes.
"Well, I was just staring at you because of how ugly you look today," he says in the same sugar-sweet tone. Enzo kicked his foot, signaling to stop. Just as he was about to say something, the door was opened by the lady with the candy.
"Would you darlings like anything?" She says, smiling at us.
I got up from my seat and looked at what she had. Riddle also got up; I saw him reach out for a chocolate frog, the last chocolate frog, but before he could grab it, I grabbed it before him.
"Oops, I think I got the last one, Riddle," I say, looking at him with a shit-eating grin.
"Do you want anything, Theo, Enzo? It's on me," I say, turning to look at them.
"I'll take a sugar quill," Theo says, smiling.
"I'll have some jelly beans," Enzo says, looking at me.
I grabbed what they wanted and paid for it. Sitting down, I tossed Enzo his beans and handed Theo his quill. That's when I saw Riddle didn't get anything.
"What's wrong, Riddle, didn't see anyone you liked?" I said with the same sugar-sweet tone from before.
"No, actually, I didn't," he says, annoyed at me. He rolled his eyes and looked out the window.Enzo looked at me, knowing fully well of what I did; he just smiled and shook his head. After some time, Theo laid his head on my lap, his legs stretching out but being that he had long legs, they were on the compartment wall. Enzo was reading a book from a muggle author. Enzo's family was very different from mine, Theo's, and even Riddle's.
Our family focused on keeping the blood pure and only marrying the wealthy. Enzo's mom came from a rich family, but they didn't care about half-bloods or muggle-borns. His dad is from France; he was a half-blood, but Enzo's grandfather was rich as fuck, richer than my family. He was even richer than the Malfoys.
"I'm so bored, can we do something?" Theo says, getting up from the seat to stretch a little.
"Well, Theo, if you take a nap, the time flies faster, ya know," I say, looking at him.
"But I'm not sleepy," he says like a toddler throwing a tantrum. He even stomped his feet.
"How about we play some cards?" Enzo says, putting his book in his bookbag and grabbing
some cards out, shuffling them. "Let's play 21."
We all played cards for about an hour before we got bored. I was going to read a book, but that's when I saw I didn't have my stuff.
"I'll be right back; I need to get my stuff from the other compartment," I say as I walk out. I bump into a second year that I met last school year.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you," they say, looking down, not looking me in the eye.
"It's okay, Luke." The moment he heard me say his name, he looked me right in the eye, but my eyes widened seeing his face. His right eye was purple, and his eye was bloodshot red.
"Luke, what happened? Are you okay? Who did this to you?" I say, grabbing his chin with my hand to look at his eye better.
"Nothing, I just fell, and that's it. No one did anything," he says, trying to hide his face from me, but it was too late; I saw it.
"You didn't just fall, Luke. Someone hit you; who was it? And don't you even lie to me," I say, giving him a stern look.
"It was one of the second years; they were making fun of me for being a muggle-born, and they were saying some stuff," he says, looking anywhere but at me. I sighed, letting go of his face.
"Come with me," I say, walking to the compartment where my stuff was at.
"Wait here; I need to get my stuff," I say, telling him as I stop in front of the door. I open the door and am greeted by my sister reading a book, Adrian on the floor wand in hand moving water from one cup to another, and Miles looking out the window.
"Ari, where were you?" Adel says, looking at me, putting her book on the seat.
"I was with the boys, and I just came back to get my bookbag," I say, looking at Adrian play with the water; then I looked at Miles, but he was already looking at me with a small smile.
"Here," Adel says, handing me my bag.
"Thanks," I say before walking out.
"It was a Slytherin," Luke mumbled as he walked next to me.
"What?" I say, stopping and turning to look at him.
"It was a Slytherin who hit me," he says, looking at me slyly. I sighed and kept walking back to
the boys' compartment. When I opened it, I saw Draco and Blaise.
"Hello, Ariana," Blaise says, sending me a smile.
"Ariana," Draco says, giving me a nod.
"Hey guys," I say, walking in and looking where to sit. Only six people could sit down. Theo was by the window, and opposite was Enzo. Next to Enzo was Stupid Riddle, next to him was Blaise, and in front of him was Draco.
"Everyone, this is Luke, my best friend. Luke, that's Theodore Nott, Draco Malfoy, Blaise Zabini, Lorenzo Berkshire, and last, of course, Stupid-I mean Mattheo Riddle," I say. Luke waved at everyone; they all just gave him a nod.
"Ari, not to be mean, but what the fuck do you mean Luke is your best friend?" Theo says, hurt written all over his face.
"Theo, don't be sad. Luke is my best friend; you're my Pooki," I say, smiling.
"Well, I got promoted. Luke, you can sit next to me so I can tell you everything you need to look out for since you're going to be her best friend," Theo says, grinning at Luke. Luke looks at me as if asking if it's okay; I give him a nod and smile.
"Well, Pucey, looks like all the seats are taken. Maybe you should go," Riddle says, giving me a big fat fake smile. I roll my eyes at him and move to where Theo is and sit on the floor, my back to the window.
"I almost forgot to give this to you, Luke," I said as I reached into my pocket and pulled out a chocolate frog. I had intended to eat it myself, but I knew that Luke needed it more than I did. After all, Professor Lupin had always said that chocolate made everything better, and he was right.
Luke thanked me, but I couldn't help but feel someone's eyes on me. When I turned to look, I saw Riddle glaring at me as if he wanted to kill me. I gave him a sweet smile, but I refused to engage with him for the rest of the train ride."
Before we reached Hogwarts, I went to go see Adel to wish her luck before she got sorted.
"Okay, Adel, this is where you go on some boats, and you are going to meet a professor, and she's going to tell you about the four houses and stuff," I say to her, giving her a hug.
"And remember, even if you don't get into Slytherin, Ari and I will always love you," Adrian said, smiling at her. I kissed her head before Adrain and I left.
"I think she's going to be a Ravenclaw; she's smart and calm," Adrian says to me, arm over my shoulder as we walk to the carriages that moved by themselves.
"Maybe, but everyone in our family is a Slytherin," I say. Well, their family was all Slytherin. I just so happened to be one as well. Miles came from behind Adrian, jumping on him, laughing. Seeing them play like little kids made me laugh as well. Miles winked at me with a grin as he was still on top of Adrian, who was now giving him a piggyback ride. I smiled at him. I felt someone staring at me, so I turned to see who it was, and it was Riddle. He wasn't glaring at me; no, his eyes were soft. Out of nowhere, I felt someone jump on me, almost making me fall when I heard them laughing. I knew it was Theo.
"What the hell do you eat, Theo? You're so heavy?" I say, trying to keep my balance so I don't fall and Theo, the Elephant, won't make me flat like a pancake.
"You know for breakfast, I eat four eggs, three pieces of bacon, and two slices of bread, and for lunch, I eat whatever is made but double it, and the same for dinner," he says.
"You know if you eat a lot, you'll going to get fat, and then if you get really fat, your broom won't be able to carry you," I say, laughing.
"Hahaha, very funny, now move forward," he says, stretching his arm out and pointing to somewhere random.
"Mr. Nott and Mr. Bletchley, could you please get off the Pucey siblings?" Diggory says, walking past us. I thanked him in my mind. Theo jumped down, and so did Miles.
"I have to go say hi to someone; I'll meet you guys later," Adrian says, running Merlin knows where, grinning like a fool.
"Where's he off to?" I say, turning to Miles. He would know.
"To go see his favorite Ravenclaw," he says with a small smirk.
"Wonder who that would be," Theo said as the three of us were looking at my brother indeed talking to a Ravenclaw. She was breathtaking with long brown hair and hazel eyes that anyone could get lost in, and she had freckles that adorned her face in all the right places.
"I can see why he left; she's drop-dead gorgeous," I say, still looking at her.
"She's okay, I guess," Miles says, shrugging his shoulders as if she is ugly or something.
"Well, I do have to agree with Ari; she is drop-dead gorgeous. I don't know how you don't think she isn't gorgeous, Bletchley," he says, looking at Miles as if he lost his mind.
"I guess she's not my type," he looks at me and then looks back at Theo.
"So what is your type, Bletchley?" Theo says with a teasing tone.
"Theodore, I like girls with black hair," Miles says and Theo hummed and then grinned. I rolled my eyes, knowing he was going to say something stupid.
"So you like Pansy Parkinson?" He says, bursting out laughing.
"No, Nott, I like girls with pretty faces, not pug ones," what Miles said only made Theo laugh harder. Miles chuckled as we walked. I could feel him get closer; at first, our hands would brush against each other, and then I felt his pinky wrap around mine. I smiled and looked up at him, smiling.
